For a brutally silent moment or so, Keegan only stared at Mike, blinking slowly. Then, quite suddenly, he was laughing. "Mike..." he managed, catching his breath and shaking his head, "sit down before you hurt yourself." He knew Mike all to well to mistake his blabbering for an actual insult, and he sighed, looking over at the battlefield as Kasiya sent out Levi. Levi? But isn't she a little young for this battle...? he thought, frowning. No, he wouldn't judge; Kasiya was an experienced trainer and she knew what she was doing.

"Actually, things have been working out rather well as of late," he said somewhat quietly, quite aware of the level of tension between the two. "Thanks for asking." He absently continued to stroke the Vulpix's soft fur, only half-watching the battle unfold in front of him. If it hadn't been for Kasiya he probably would have turned around and left the gym by now; anything to avoid another confrontation with his 'old friend'. A part of him wanted to say something else but the other part of him was begging to keep his mouth shut. Keegan wasn't really good with situations like this to begin with, and egging Mike on would only end with a double-visit to the emergency room of the local medical center.

Helios, meanwhile, was watching the young Magby quite intently. The younger Pokemon smelled wonderfully of magma and volcanoes and seemed to be quite friendly. The Vulpix grinned as best a Vulpix can grin and wagged his six tails in a friendly manner at the Magby, always glad to make a new friend.
=====
"Wonder how long it can keep this up," Roxanne murmured quietly to herself, watching her Geodude carefully. She hoped that all the endurance training she had been through with her Pokemon would pay off. "Rock Throw, and keep it up!" she called. It won't be able to dodge forever, she thought.

Geodude let out another grunt and pulverized a nearby rock, picking up rocks and throwing them in fairly quick succession at the Beldum. It wasn't trying to actually hit Beldum so much as keep it moving.

"Not really." Damn it, this was the last thing he needed now. Crenu just wanted to blow through and pretend he hadn't come through. He wasn't ready to deal with a home coming confrontation with the people he knew, less of all Ayane. "I'm actually running a bit behind, later Aya."

"Shiro, please wait." Ayane came a little closer, stopping a few feet away from Crenu. "Don't leave yet."

Crenu stopped and looked back at her. Though her voice had clear traces of worry, she continued to smile. That's what he hated the most, she was always smiling, always sweet and caring even when something was wrong. No matter what he did, there was no way he could ever ignore her requests. Lucky for him she was to nice to take advantage of that. "I really can't stay long."

===============================================

"Sounds like you've been through a lot in the short time you've been away." They were behind the center, next to the pond where the water pokemon that were recovering stayed. They had already talked about Ky and M.A., as well as how he got that new scar and where he was headed. "Have you been treating little Larvy well?"

"Yeah. He's fine, we both are. I caught some new pokemon, too." He tried to keep it short, she was still smiling but he could tell she was a little upset with him. She was probably the only person in the world he was actually afraid of. Not because she'd hurt him or anything, but because he was afraid of hurting her. She was so frail and sweet, he had always been careful to keep her safe, he could never live with himself if something happened to her. It was like in his mind she was one of the few pure things in this world, like snow or the bloom of the first cherry blossom in a valley, it just seemed like it would be a terrible evil to do anything to her. "I'd show 'em to you, but they're probably tired."

"Is that so? Are you sure you aren't pushing them to hard? You have made friends with your pokemon right Crenu, you've made sure to treat them as equals?"

"...Of course. We're good friends."

"Don't lie to me Shiro! I've known you all my life, don't try to fool me. Everything isn't fine...you've changed Shiro." For the first time since Crenu had arriver, Ayane's smile faded. She wasn't frowning, but her face was definitely sad.

"...Everything is great Aya. I've seen things that made me learn what I need to be. You're right, I'm not friends with my pokemon. I can't be, if I waste my efforts on such things then they will grow weak, I need absolute power from them and they can only serve me as tools." Crenu stood up, he couldn't do this right now. He knew that it was a mistake to risk going to the center. Nurse Joy wouldn't have pulled him in if he had just left town, but he foolishly had to try and sneak a peek and see how things were.

"Shiro you know that isn't true. You don't believe that....I know you don't. You're just confused. You're over thinking things again, you always did. Have you forgotten everything I've taught you about pokemon relationships? We grew up making friends with the sick pokemon here, the bonds they formed with their trainers. Have you already forgotten all about what your father use to tell us, have you forgotten about everything?

"I have. Later Aya, I'll come back when I've become the strongest trainer I can be, no matter what it costs me. I'll show you what real power is all about." With that he left the center and made his way back towards Celedon.

Ayane just watched as Crenu left, she appeared as though she was going to cry but didn't. "Oh Shiro, I hope you do learn what real power is. Till then, I wish you luck and safe return."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crenu passed by the National park, he remembered about the bug catchign contest. he thought about stopping by, but decided against it. Looking in, as he rode trough the spectators area, he noticed a trainer with an Aipolm battling with a Yanma. For some reason, she stood out to him, but he ignored it and peddled on. Thoughts of his encounter with his old friend still buzzed around in his head. "Damn." Crenu never felt lower than he did at that moment.

"If two or more WOBBUFFET meet, they will turn competitive and try to outdo each other's endurance. However, they may try to see which one can endure the longest without food. TRAINERS need to beware of this habit," M.A.'s Pokedex sang, this time to the tune of the Pokemon theme. Well, she sighed, at least it was unique. . . Knowing her brother, he'd claim total innocence and refuse to fix it. Looks like it'd change song tunes everytime. Who knew how he managed to do it.

"Alright, Daemyn!" M.A. said after clearing her throat. This Wobbuffet looked like a pretty... interesting character, to say the least. It stood there, swaying on its heels, as if totally unaware of the battle it was engaged in. Yumi, meanwhile, seemed relaxed, smug even. It made Mary-Anne a bit wary. Better go with a far-range attack, she thought to herself. "Give it your Ember!"

Daemyn took two steps forward, bits of fire leaking from his clamped jaw. Rearing, he wrenched his jaw open, sending a hot fireball in the Wobuffet's direction. Wow, M.A. thought, feeling the heat even from where she stood, something new to her. He's getting stronger!

The Wobuffet made zero effort to evade it, only frowning a bit in concentration as it braced itself. A purple-like aura flickered around it, to M.A.'s consternation. "Wobb!" it squeaked, squinting under the force. Yumi smiled a little. "Good! Now return it," she commanded confidently. Yumi with her Wobuffet was a totally different story from her and her other new Pokemon -- these two were synchronized perfectly.

To Daemyn and M.A.'s surprise, a pink fireball twice the size of Daemyn's blasted right back at him. The flabbergasted Houndour was flipped upside down from the impact. Yowch! Instead of enveloping him like other fire-type attacks did, the strange fireball simply dispersed after the hit.

"That's Wobby's specialty," Yumi said, answering the question on M.A.'s face. Wobuffet, hearing the praise in his trainer's voice, grinned goofily and wobbled back and forth. "Countering."

PostPosted: Sat Jul 26, 2008 11:07 am

"Oh?" M.A. cocked her head to one side. That was no good. Maybe a physical attack would work and not reflect back? "Try Bite!" she said, trying to hide her uncertainty. Daemyn nodded, uncertain himsef after his lack attack backfired, and charged forwards.

The moment of hesitation gave the Wobuffet extra time to prepare itself, and a white colored aura coated him as he braced himself.

Daemyn made the hit, naturally, and prepared to scamper off before the Wobuffet would do whatever it did, but found himself prostrate on the ground instead, aching all over. What the heck?!

M.A. brushed her bangs back behind her ear, feeling a little frustrated. Hoping that Daemyn didn't think of incompetent for not thinking up of something good enough.

"Try again?" Yumi teased sweetly, eyes flashing with playful competition.

"Will do," M.A. laughed. If Wobuffet can't predict what Daemyn does, then he can't reflect it properly, I'm thinking. M.A.'s think-thank was on overdrive, and frankly, it was starting to burn a little. "Switch it up, mix it up," she finally said, giving the reins over to her Pokemon and trusting he'd know what to do with them. Daemyn nodded and burst into a run.

"Again?" Yumi frowned, feeling that this was a bit suicidal. Maybe M.A. couldn't think of anything after all... Shame, it didn't look like that Houndour could take another hit. Around Wobuffet, the white aura began to waver. And he just sat there, waiting for the contact. . .

. . . That never came. Daemyn suddenly skid to a halt. In Yumi and Wobuffet's haste, they didn't notice the little embers flicking out of his maw. "Oh no!" the girl cried, waving at her Wobuffet. "It's gonna be a special, not a phs-" But too late, for the Ember attack was already set loose and Wobuffet didn't have time to switch counters. A smoking Pokemon lay splayed on the ground.

Daemyn blinked curiously. He'd... done it! Yes!

Well, that's what he was thinking, anyways, before the Wobuffet raised an arm and backhanded him. Daemyn wobbled over, done in by that little move. "A tie, maybe then?" Yumi suggested, succumbing to a bit of laughter.

M.A., too, laughed at the sight of the two Pokemon lying next to each other. "Nah, its your win. Your Wobuffet's still good to go... I think it's just too lazy to get back up."

"So he is!" Yumi shouted, kicking her Pokemon. It flailed and sat up at attention. A giggle. "Well, great battle anyways -- let's head to a PokeCenter together, yes?" The infectious girl hooked her arm around M.A.'s, skipping as she led her away. Daemyn and Wobuffet had to rouse themselves and run after them, for in Yumi's haste they hadn't had a chance to recall them.

Kasiya wasn't too amused by the fact that Light Screen would now reduce the damage of all of Levi's special attacks, now paired with the fact that Levi could be burned if she touched Megu. Fine then, we'll just have to hit 'em hard, then! Kasiya thought, clenching a fist. "Levi, blast Megu with your Surf attack!"

Leviathan grinned when she heard the command, each fin quivering with excitement as she crouched down onto all fours. She opened her mouth and started spraying the ground with water, which soon formed into a puddle that steadily grew larger in size. The Marshtomp stood back up again, letting out a fairly loud growl as the water then began to head for Megu, roaring and sloshing loudly as the wave rose up, ready to crash into the Slugma.

"Uh oh." Flannery's eyes opened wide at the sight of the watery doom now heading for her Pokemon. There wasn't anything she could do to help her Pokemon, and she watched her beloved Slugma cower behind its Light Screen, waiting for the Surf to hit it. For a terrifying moment, Meg was lost in the sea of blue water, but as the tide receded, Flannery could see that her Pokemon was still standing (or upright, at the very least) and looked to be quite well, despite the watery circumstances. "Whew..." she sighed, glancing at Kasiya for a second. "Okay Megu, Smog attack!" she shouted. If Megu could hide himself in the haze, he might be able to bide himself enough time to regroup after the Surf attack.

Megu opened his mouth wide and let a stinking cloud of greenish-grey smog drift out, which quickly spread throughout the battlefield. Megu disappeared quickly in the haze, the last feature visible on the Slugma were his glowing eyes. Flannery smirked at this, wondering if Levi would get poisoned by the Smog or not.

Jaeshan watched with a grim expression as more rocks came flying towards Beldum. The Steel-type was able to dodge the first, then second rock, but it underestimated the projection of the third and took a hit on one side of its body, enabling a second rock to slam into it from above. Both hits weren't very effective, yet they seemed to be taking their toll on the Beldum. However, as another rock came towards it, Beldum narrowed its eye and avoided it carefully, letting the Geodude know that it wasn't finished yet. "Hang in there, Beldum!" Jaeshan shouted. "Keep dodging, you're doing great!"

Mike only looked down, embarrassed at his lack of a grasp for his own language. "Yeah, you're probably right." With a weak grunt, the boy sat down, perhaps taking Keegan's advice a bit too literal. Whatever, he was tired. For a moment, the boy watched the ensuing battle, grinning as he saw Flannery take the offensive. Since she took over the Gym not too long ago, she had grown so much as a trainer and a person. She was starting to make a damn fine Leader herself.

"That's good." Mike said in reply to the boy's quiet muttering. "I won't insult you by pulling that 'treat her right' crap, because I'm sure you're doing a fine enough job." He chuckled slightly, hoping to disarm the situation even by a little bit. Though, he must be, right? After all, they are still together. Although, truth be told, he wondered what Kasiya saw in him. All his life Keegan had been nothing but a brooding grouch. Maybe chicks did in fact dig the loner bit. Who knows, Kasiya could be a bit too accepting sometimes. Part of him felt a bit jealous. I mean, come on. Had he ever saved her life? No, but I did.

Mike looked up at Keegan, and was met with a rather invasive look. There was something very accusing about the way Keegan looked at him. He recognized it though. That was the 'why were you stupid enough to join Team Magma?' look that he had gotten so much from him. "Listen Keegan." the boy began, yet another sigh leaving his mouth. "I don't want to fight with you anymore about that. But you have to understand my reasons for doing what I did." He shifted his glance over to Flannery, then back to Keegan. "I love her, I always have. You know that. I would give anything to make her happy." He stood as he talked, and walked closer to Keegan so he didn't have to speak any louder. "Now you cannot look me in the eye and say you wouldn't do the same thing I did if you were in my position. I was scared. I did what I thought would best protect her. He told me that it was the only way." His voice was laced with subtle traces of panic, like he was speaking to an abusive interrogator. "What if you were in my shoes, and he told you that Kasiya was in danger?" He stopped, catching his breath. "Look, I'm not trying to excuse my actions Keegan. I'm only trying to help you understand why I did what I did. But trust me, I've suffered for my stupid choices." Mike looked over at Flannery once more, as if to check to see if she was still there. "I just, I...you don't know how much she means to me. Please don't tell her..." He put his arm on Keegan's shoulder and tightened his grip, not to hurt him, but for stability. Mike's knees almost fell out from under him as he held on, the whole speech almost seemed to suck the energy right out of him. "...I don't want her knowing how weak I am."

After a few moments of labored breathing, Mike straightened himself out, taking a deep breath to push the remaining stress out of his body. "Well," He started, fighting to make eye contact with his old friend. "I hope we can move past this. I've bared myself enough for one day."

Napalm cooed happily at the returned friendliness, seemingly oblivious to his trainer's discussion. They were doing well enough at keeping quiet. Plus, he was a bit distracted with Helios.

It was starting to get dark by the time that Crenu had gotten to Goldenrod. Rout 35 didn't seem quite as daunting this time, especially with Hitmonlee pulling the bike. Crenu decided to leave Larvitar out of the equation this time, it was getting late after all. He had tied the bike up to Lee around the time the time he stopped to rest near the National Park. Hotmonlee seemed to be getting use to this form of training and was now quite speedy pulling Crenu's weight. Granted he was on a bike and not quite dead weight, it was still harder than running unhindered. Hitmonlee's legs were strong, it seemed that training was starting to get his spirits up and his strength was returning. But he still had a long way to go before he became the power house Crenu wanted. Crenu recalled Hitmonlee to his pokeball when they entered Goldenrod, he decided to peddle himself rather than draw attention to himself. He hopped over low railings and on fences with his bike, one had to admire the design of the Acro bike that allowed it to so some weird things. But he preferred a speedy model, perhaps he would try to obtain a Mach bike when he returned from Hoenn. The city bustled, the night was just as busy as it had been when he left for Mt. Mortar. It was half past 10 when Crenu finally found the station. "Where do board the train to Hoenn?"

"Next train to Hoenn leaves from platform 11 in five minuets. Barely made it son." A man dressed in blue replied and pointed the way. He shone his flash light elsewhere and was off help more people with questions.

Crenu entered the station and looked around, it was well lit and full of people. Crenu followed the numbered signs to platform 11 and made his way onto the train. He gave his ticket to another man in blue who punched it and let him on. Crenu found an empty cabin and took a seat, the train would start moving soon. He checked his watch, it was the 28th. he wasn't sure how long it would take to get to Hoenn, but it was sure to take a while. Crneu decided to get some sleep to make the ride more bearable. He closed his eyes and went off to sleep, he would not wake till the next day.

Flipping the note open Robin stared at neat handwriting for a moment before actually reading it.

Hey there little missy. While you were running around the town I got a phone call from my boss telling me something had come up. Terribly sorry I have to cut my little adventure with you short. It won't be to long though so I probably will be seeing you at the beach party. Have fun until then, I am sure your pokemon and you can take care of your selves though.
-&0

Blinking a few times she stared down at the note trying to figure out what that last little signature type thing meant. So she wasn't the brightest bulb in the box but it did eventually click. She couldn't help but be a bit disappointed in the fact that he had left but she also couldn't help but think how embarrassing it would be for her if he met her mom. So deciding to shrug it off, she would be seeing him again soon, or at least thats what his note said. Leaning back in the chair Robin decided to just wait until her pokemon returned to her.

She must have dozed off because the next thing she knew she had an arm full of energetic Luffy and a newly healed Razputin was landing on her head. Unable to even get mad at her nakama Robin just laughed and gave Luffy a hug before pulling Raz down from her head. "You are looking much better now." She smile as she inspected the newly healed wing. Giving them another hug Robin put Razputin back on her head before pulling Luffy into her arms. "All right lets head back home. I have to get my bathing suit for that beach party after all." That thought in mind she picked herself up and headed out of the pokemon center, not before thanking Nurse Joy again though.

Going through the town unable to keep her good mood inside Robin made her way to the train station, the signs on the lamp poles were very helpful. Humming to herself she approached the train station searching through her bag, no help from Luffy there, and pulled out her wallet. Waiting in the small line before approaching the ticket seller she grinned at the bored looking woman inside. "Hello there, may I please purchase the ticket to the next train to Goldenrod?"

The teller just stared at her boredly for a moment chewing gum before nodding. "Sure next train leaves in..." She checked her watch. "five minutes."

"Five minutes?!" Robin exclaimed not expecting it to leave so soon, hurriedly she paid for her ticket and dashed off to try to make it onto the train. Making it just in time Robin plopped herself down before looking around. There weren't many people in her cabin, just a business man and a mother with two young children. Settling herself down Robin leaned her head back forgetting that Raz was up there who let out a chirp before scrambling down her arm to rest on her leg. With a lurch the train started its trek to Goldenrod its passengers resting in it safely.

Somewhat bored Robin flipped her pokedex open and started going through it making note on all of the pokemon she could. It had way more information then she was used to and it was exciting. She really hadn't had a chance to really go through it before anyway. As she looked through them she noticed that she was more attracted to the flying pokemon then anything else. That didn't really mean anything when she wasn't looking for pokemon with power and spirit instead. As she was lost in her own thoughts she failed to notice Luffy get up from her side and run over to play with the kids. She also failed to notice Raz getup and go join them in there play. It wasn't until the mother came over to sit next to her that she noticed.

"Thank you very much for letting my children play with your pokemon. They are a handful enough as it is but they really seem to be enjoying this." The motherly woman said with a smile.

Glancing up from her pokedex in surprise Robin stared at the woman for a moment before turning her attention to her pokemon. Luffy was running around being the happy little thing that he was while Raz was pulling off circus like acrobatics in the air much to the children's amusement. Turning back to the woman Robin smiled at her. "No problem. They tend to be a handful to so its good to see them burning off some energy."

Lunch quickly passed as Mitsu ate some more ice cream and a small sandwich to keep herself content. It was a rather slow day and the beach party seemed to far away even though in reality it was extremely close. "Ugh, this is beyond boring," Mitsu moaned to her unattentive Gengar. Wandering the city had become much of a chore and by now she knew the city like the back of her hand. It was close to 3PM now so she decided to headback to the Center. Perhaps some reading would calm her nerves and keep her occupied enough for the remained of the day. Or at least until something intresting happened like M.A. reappearing or some meteor about to crash into their very beach.

It was a short walk from her current point and once inside she picked a small table that was accompanied by a comfy looking chair. The Center didn't look like it was too packed at the moment considering the amount of people that haunted the beach waiting and anticipating the big party. She pulled out a dusty looking book. The pages were yellow and brown with old age and the cover torn in several places. She was careful to position herself in a way that prevent others from reading her book and she was even more careful when turning the pages. The words in the book itself didn't mean much to her since she could not make out what they said as they were written in old script, possibly a foreign language, and places were morphed by droplets of water that caused the ink to run. The pictures were equally as confusing, but not nearly as the words itself. She could make out small detail such a a hand holding a green orb and the same picture on another page only the orb was pink. It was very confusing.

But that was the least of her concern with the old book. There were scraps of paper and a short note that held something meaningful to her. Perhaps they were from another Child of the Forest. I wonder if this person is still alive. I wonder if maybe I'm related to them . . . The letter spoke of an odd place she hadn't even heard of before: Sinnoh. Does it really exist? Maybe it's just the stuff in legends, who knows. I wonder if I'd be able to find them there. Shaking her head Mitsu stuffed the book back into her bad. It was getting her more frustrated and confused than really helping her pass the time. "Damn, I really need a hobby," Mitsu muttered to her hissing Gengar.

Levi watched curious as the smog filled the battlefield, and even as she crouched low, her face wrinkling in disgust from the smell, she felt it overcome her, creeping into her lungs and finding its way into her system. A sickly feeling came over her then, and the Marshtomp faltered a bit, squinting in the haze in an attempt to find the tricky Slugma.

"Megu's hiding in the smog..." Kasiya mumbled, holding a hand over her mouth and nose to avoid breathing in the stink. "This complicates things..." She never did like being unable to see her own Pokemon on the battlefield, and Levi's now-poisoned status was unknown to her. "Levi, focus! There's got to be a way to find out where Megu is! Hit him with your Mud Shot when you get a chance!"

Standing up again, Levi's whiskers quivered as she studied the haze of smog. She closed her eyes, letting her other senses stretch out in front of here. There! She could sense Megu's presence, but the poison coursing through her system made it difficult to find a steady target. For now, Levi chose to stay on the defensive, using her newly learned Foresight technique to keep an idea of where the elusive Slugma was.

Flannery frowned a bit at Kasiya's seemingly calm demeanor over having lost sight of her Pokemon in the smog, and she placed her hands on her hips. Drat, most people become unnerved by this point, she thought, looking towards Megu. "Meg, do yourself a favor! Use Recover!" she cried. Megu gave a cry, his molten body glowing white-hot as he recovered most of the stamina he'd lost from Levi's first two Water-type attacks. "Good! Keep up the good work, Megu! You're doing awesome!" Flannery really was quite impressed with the progress her Slugma had made recently. For a while he seemed to be a little depressed after Magu had evolved, although it almost seemed as if Megu was happier being a Slugma than a Magcargo. If Meg decides to evolve or not, that's fine... he's an awesome Pokemon just the same! Flannery thought, a wide, proud grin spread across her face.

"Okay, Primeape!" she laughed, "Let's go with a Dynamic Punch! So that Lairon what true power is!" Rebecca clapped her hands and laughed. Being able to win so easily, with just one punch, was enough to satisfy anyone. The girl wasn't as stupid as Kilik thought she was; she did know her weaknesses and resistances. She knew that one Fighting-type move was enough to bring down even the strongest of Lairon. The furry ape wiggled his pig nose and pulled back his fist as he broke into a run. The fist began to glow with a bright light.

Kilik shook his head. "With great power comes..." a light laugh escaped him as he scratched the back of his head, "Well, low accuracy. How do you expect to take Lairon down if you can't hit him?" He laughed triumphantly, "Attack numero uno! Lairon, use Sandstorm!" He punched the air with his fist and sighed. I'll really need to learn not to use that at the party. Otherwise, there may be no beach left. In a flash, he instantly had his white coat on (though it felt really strange over his yellow shirt, as they were both long sleeved) and his red shirt over his mouth like a mask. At least now his shirt wouldn't be dirty.

Lairon growled and clenched his paws into the dirt. Clumps of sand and soil began to float around him before exploding into the sandstorm. The beast once more disappeared into the sand, only his roars reaching the ears of his foe. Primeape stopped dead in his tracks, wincing in pain as the grains of sand cut against his body. Rebecca shrieked and held her arm over her face. "Hey! That's not fair!" she barked into the storm.

Kilik shrugged. "Lotsa stuff isn't fair!"

((You know... I didn't know where this post was going when I started it but here it is.))
Keegan smirked at the comment about treating Kasiya right, but said nothing. He didn't realize that his old friend was somewhat jealous, as the last thing he'd expect was for anyone to be jealous of him. But either way, Mike was only trying to protect his friend and he could understand that. He didn't really like the way Mike seemed to be laughing at him though, and he looked away, staring into the smog that now covered the battlefield. He doesn't think I'm good enough for her, he thought bitterly, taking a somewhat ragged breath to keep himself under control. Then again, most of the time he didn't think he was good enough for her, either.

He then quietly listened to Mike speak, nodding along in all the appropriate places. He brought his hands together, interlocking his fingers as he continued to watch the raging battle in front of him. "Look Mike, you don't have to justify anything to me. I know why you made the choices you did." Slowly he turned his gaze to meet Mike's, and for once the usual harsh and abrasive look the redhead wore was gone, replaced with a somewhat understanding half-smile. "I can't say for sure what would happen if our roles were reversed. All I know is even a sightless Zubat can see how much you care for Flannery. I didn't really understand then, but I think I do now. I never had what you had... someone I cared about, or was willing to do anything for. And given the same circumstances..." he trailed off then, not sure how to continue, but finally did after a moment or so, "I just might have done the same thing. I'd give my life to protect her," he said, nodding towards Kasiya.

Helios knew this discussion had been a long time coming, and he vacated his seat in order to give the two humans some space. He didn't thing the young Magby really knew what was going on, but keeping the younger Pokemon distracted would probably be good for both Mike and Keegan. The Vulpix turned towards the Magby, a grin on his face as he suddenly pounced playfully at Napalm, glad to have a fellow fire type to play with for once.

Okay, so maybe he's a bit better than I gave him credit for after all, Roxanne thought. She couldn't help but consider herself lucky that the Beldum was still unevolved, otherwise her Pokemon wouldn't have had a chance against a Metang. "Geodude, get in there and hit it with your Rock Smash!" she commanded, pointing a finger.

Geodude spun a bit before moving foward, effectively bouncing off the ground in order to gain some height. As it neared Beldum, it raised its arms up and clenched its fists together, attempting to bring them down like a hammer onto the steel type.

"So where you from, Emmmaaaay," Yumi sing-songed her newfound friend's name. Under her arm, she swung her surfboard to and fro.

"Up at Fallorbor," she answered, a remnant of a smile lingering on her lips as her mind's eye flashed to that cozy little town. A scene flickered in her mind; there she was, a little rugrat, stuck in a tree. Just like a Skitty, she was always good with getting up... but getting down was a major issue. Here was eleven-year-old Sae, arm draped around a girl that shared his sandy, dirty blonde hair color, but with blue eyes rather than his green. Two peas in a pod, they looked like. M.A. cried out to them. The girl next to Sae broke away from the brother's grasp, trotting over to the tree. 'Hold on, babe,' she smiled, reassuring the panicked little girl. 'I'll get you down in a second.' Sae in the background, looking jealous that his little sister had gotten all the attention.

I wonder what Sae thinks when he looks at the ocean... M.A. mused to herself, the smile saddening some. Unconsciously she circled the necklace charm around her neck. If only... If only... If she'd just listened and stayed with her family, Lynette would likely still be alive. But no, Sae had told her not to think like that anymore.

"... but wow, he was such a hunk! M.A.? Hey, missy, you there?" Yumi said, waving a hand in front of a dazed M.A.'s face. "Aw, did you miss my story?"

"Oh! I'm sorry, sorry," she laughed sheepishly. "Just zoned out a little."

"Mm," Yumi replied, totally relating (or so she thought). They walked into the PokeCenter side by side, handed their Pokemon to a perpetually cheery Nurse Joy. "Say, my surfin' comp's tomorrow morning starting around when the sun cracks, if you're up to seeing some mad skills out there!" the girl mock-boasted, pumping her arms up and down.

M.A. giggled. "Sure! If I'm up by then," she added, remembering that she woke up near noon today. Speaking of which... she glanced around the room, spotting -- "Mitsu!" M.A called out, waving. Now there she was! She hadn't seen the girl all day. "Hey, where've ya been?"

Yumi followed M.A. as she came to Mitsu. "Uh, hi, I'm Yumi," she introduced herself with a lop-sided grin. She checked her waterproof clock on her wrist, noting the time. "Well, I gotta run, but... If you guys wanna do some surfing tomorrow after the comp, there's this huge beginner thing going on. For free! Everyone can try, people and Pokemon alike. So come, come, yes?"

"Sounds good to me!" M.A. replied, liking the idea of something new.

"Well if you can make it, see you there!" the girl waved cheerily, bounding out the door (and rushing back in a moment later to pick up her Pokemon before waving wildly and leaving again).

Megu can use Recover? Kasiya thought, trying to peer through the haze, but without luck. That means bad news for our side... She still couldn't see Levi either, and it was bothering her a little more as the battle progressed.

Meanwhile, Levi felt her body weakening as the poison slowly sapped her strength, yet she kept a careful eye on the Slugma. Now that she had its location pinpointed, she could attack! Remembering Kasiya's previous order, she locked on to Megu and opened her mouth, spewing out a thick stream of gooey muck. Even though Megu was protected by Light Screen, it would still cause some damage, or at least Levi hoped it would.

Flannery wasn't expecting to hear Megu cry out as he was splattered by a spray of cool, sticky mud. He also found it a little difficult to move as the muck wreaked havoc with his molten body. "Megu!" Flannery cried. "Hang in there, pal! You can do it! Blast that mud fish with Overheat!"

For a moment nothing happened, but then a large ball of fire shot out from the smog cloud, leaving a big gaping hole where it passed through. Flannery wasn't sure how good Megu's aim would be with the Smog, but either way it would keep both Kasiya and Levi on their toes.

Beldum could only stare as the Geodude came flying towards it, and even though it could hear Jaeshan calling for it to get out of the way, it was seemingly frozen with fear. The Rock Smash landed with critical precision, sending Beldum spiraling out of control towards the ground. Jaeshan quickly held up its Pokeball and recalled it before it could smash into the ground and be hurt further. You did well, he thought, placing the ball back in its place. I couldn't have asked for a better effort.

He was down one Pokemon now, but it didn't seem to bother him too much. He took the second Pokeball from his belt and enlarged it, giving it a quick spin on his fingertips before he sent it flying. "Your turn! Combusken, go!" Combusken nearly exploded from her Pokeball in a burst of flame, looking more raring to go than Jaeshan could ever remember. She scuffed the ground with her clawed feet, eying the Geodude carefully. "Double Kick, now!" he commanded. Giving a cry, Combusken dashed forward, her powerful legs carrying her forward with graceful ease. As she reached her opponent, she lashed out with one leg, quickly spinning and following up with the other. You can do it! Jaeshan thought, watching her movements carefully.
