Silvrendir squawked and pulled his wing in tightly to his body, then squirmed down further into Lore's arms, putting his back to him so that his wings were safely hidden. Then he looked up at Lore upside-down and pouted. "That tickled, Daddy!"

Idhril giggled. "Silly Silver dear!"

Elnara laughed. "I don't know, but I would expect he would assume that Silvrendir, at the least, was adopted. He's intelligent, after all, and neither you nor I have wings or red hair. I suppose I might understand if he thought Idhril was mine, but ... still, with you being even taller than me, I would think she would be too small to consider a natural baby, isn't it?"

Lore shrugged, "Who knows, I don't know how much people would assume about people and children from Gaia."

And he wasn't sure if Aranhil had met any other children from Gaia. He peered down at Silvrendir with a chuckle, so he was ticklish.

"I know Silver, but it was far too tempting not to."

Silvrendir giggled and poked Lore in the ribs, then wiggled his finger a bit. He wanted to know if his Daddy was ticklish, too!

Elnara smiled and led them towards a rather large but homey-looking building, white marble as was the rest of the city, but with ivy crawling all over its front. A sign above the door read Autumnglow Inn.

"This is my grandparents' inn," she told Lore, reaching for the door and holding it open for him. "My mother's parents."

Lore chuckled as he nuzzled Silvrendir's nose, "Not ticklish there, you're going to have to try again little one."

He laughed softly as he peered up at the building, it reminded him sort of those houses he saw pictures of. In that one western country where flower gardens were common and ivy looked nogastic.

"It looks like it could have come from the country," he murmured as he stepped in.

The first room in the inn was a large dining room, with tables of various sizes scattered neatly around it. The walls were lined with pictures. In one wall was a fireplace (unlit of course, the desert was too hot as it was). Along the far wall was a long counter with a thick open book and a bell, and a single door was in the left wall. Behind the counter was a double swinging door.

The room was empty of people, however.

Elnara followed Lore inside and looked around. "Quiet," she commented, setting Idhril on the floor. "I don't know that I've ever seen it this quiet ..."

From Lore's arms, Silvrendir pointed to the bell on the counter.

Lore wandered over to the counter looking around, "Is it normally busy?"

He was sure they probably served food as well as had a place to stay for people. Which would only make sense, so he supposed thinking of it that way it was unusual in the middle of a city it would be this quiet.

"Depending on the time of year," Elnara replied, looking at the pictures on the walls, searching for something she might recognize. There were pictures of the old city, and of the old inn, and ... she smiled. In one corner, there was a picture of her mother with her grandparents, when Serenity had been a child. It looked, though, as if this was a picture from before her blindness: she was very young, and smiling brightly at the painter.

She turned her attention back to Lore. "And I'm ashamed to say that I don't know what time of year it is," she laughed. "After all, the desert really doesn't give much variation."

She looked around again. "Perhaps we should ring the bell," she suggested nervously. "Once upon a time, I would have gone looking for someone ... I don't feel comfortable enough any more ..."

Idhril, curious as ever, wandered around the end of the counter to see what was behind it.

"Well it has been many years, and it's quite hard to tell from one time to the next what time of the year it is," Lore replied with a smile.

Well, neither of them could put off ringing th bell for long, so he rang it before he gained second thoughts.

"Though I understand what you mean, I wouldn't be able to tell, I'm use to depending on a change of weather."

A young woman appeared from the swinging doors. She was typically Southlandish - long, black hair, brown eyes, dusky skin - but her face, rather than thin and angular, was almost pixie-ish.

"Welcome to the Autumnglow Inn," she smiled kindly at the two. "Would you like a meal or a room?"

Elnara smiled. "Neither, thank you," she replied. "I'd like to speak with either Rigel or Soronúmë, both if they're here. It's personal."

Without missing a beat she added, "Idhril, come away from behind there, we're not to be back there."

Idhril was standing right at the other woman's feet and staring way up at her, and she had been about to ask a question; but at Elnara's warning, she skittered obediently back out to the main room.

Lore chuckled as he motioned for Idhril to come join him. He wondered of the woman even realized the little girl had been there, probably not he decided, that would have given the poor woman quite a scare.

The woman jumped a bit when she saw the tiny child heading out from behind the counter (where had she been!?), and when she nodded to the guests it was with a feeling of trepidation.

"They're both here, I'll get them," she assured them; and she disappeared through the swinging doors once more.

Elnara laughed. "Ah, poor Starr," she murmured; and suddenly she realized how confusing that must have sounded to the others, and she laughed again.

"That woman," she giggled, "her name is Starr. She's worked for my grandparents since my mother was a child. I really think she didn't recognize me, and for certain she didn't know what to make of Idhril." She laughed again.

Lore chuckled, for a moment he had wondered what she meant or if she had finally sccumbed to confusing her children's names.

"I see," he smiled, "Yes, I figured she probably had not heard Idhril, and she is so small."
