He had the technique before, what could have gone wrong? Obviously he had trouble using his chakra, he really had to concentrate and push the chakra into his handseal. With out this the jutsu was a no go. Raine took his stance once more, a firm grip to his feet and the earth often helped him concentrate. Using the tiger seal again Raine closed his eyes, once more the energy built up inside him and once more it pushed out randomly. He knew he had no control and couldn't do a thing to stop it. The chakra got half way up his arms and than fled through his skin, coming with the usual burst of smoke. This time the boy still stood there, but his skin was gray and rough. "Of coarse that's just my luck." He pulled his hands apart and returned to normal.

Raine leaned up against the rock and took a few seconds to breathe. All these failed attempts where really taking it out of him. Looking over at Lavi who seemed to be fast asleep in the shade of the large tree, Raine sighed. At least Lavi wasn't watching him fail. Raine still as determined as ever stood once more and faced the rock. He placed his hands together and double checked his fingers. Again he held the Tiger seal in his hands. Raine closed his eyes and felt the heat of the sun boil down on his arms and legs. The energy deep in the cosmos of his chakra system rose. Again the pathways formed in his imagination from his stomach up to his hands. Raine felt the energy ruh through him, more quickly than he had expected and out through the cores of his palms. The boy poofed and in his place a perfectly rough and rounded rock sat almost as glorious as Shikaree's rock. It held for about 30 seconds this time before Raine popped once more from his hiding. Even more drained now than before he waddled slowly over to his own tree about 10 feet away form

Even more drained now than before he waddled slowly over to his own tree about 10 feet away form a sleeping Lavi. He set his butt down in the cool grass and leaned up against the tree. With a sigh he relaxed. Glancing over to the teen he wondered how he could have fallen asleep, Raine probably was more tired than him. But just as his glance turned to the serenity of the place around them. "Good job kid." broke the peace of his mind. Instantly Raine shot his attention back at Lavi who still lay sleeping. Was he just pretending to be asleep? Or had Raine just imagined it?

Raine didn't much feel like sitting and resting anymore even though he was tired. He wanted to learn this jutsu as fast as possible. The small boy stood slowly and once again set himself in front of the rock. The rock. The unbeatable foe. "Eh." Raine's frustration had started to flare. It just wasn't fair. Shikaree had only tried the jutsu half the times he had and already he had gotten it twice. Raine went for a simpler approach and formed the ram seal. As quickly as he could through his anger Raine built and expelled the chakra. He couldn't even poof this time. Absolutely nothing happened except for the immediate drain of energy and his self-esteem.

Shikaree brushed off his failure and formed hand seals and pulsed his remaining chakra throughout his body. Round and round it went at high speeds throughout his body until....POOF! a cloud of white smoke covered his body and then reveiled a solid but not as detailed gray shiney rock.It crumbled away within seconds to reveil a pleased but tired Shikaree.

"Grrr..." Raine couldn't help but loose himself to his failure. Not only had he failed beyond dishonor but Shikaree had gottent he jutsu another time! His boyish rage exploded in his mind. Raine tried to hide it form the possibly watching Lavi, but he couldn't help but hate himself. He was never any good at anything he tried. The only thing that he could manage was fighting. The small boy considered telling Lavi about his genetic disadvantage to ninjutsu, but making excuses was worst than failing. Being a coward was worse than any jutsu he couldn't preform. All he could do was try again. Raine gave himself a loose stance made of slumped shoulders and his obvious lack of energy. "Please, Come on I can do this." he whispered to himself, making sure that Shikaree wouldn't hear. He placed his hands in the seal once again. He had to make it work this time. But his anger overwhelmed him. A poof rose around him, and the familiar saggy gray excuse for a rock sat on top of Raine. The small boy poofed once more, and fell to his knee with exhaustion.

This was nothign he hadn't felt before. He had to try, he had to get up. The boy forced himself to stand, but he had nothing left. On top of his fight this morning Raine was beaten. Slowly he hoisted himself off the ground with the held of stabling himself on the rock. He stumbled a bit in place and put his hands together, he barely had enough energy to hold up his arms and the handseal sagged down so that it looked as if he were pointing straight at the rock. This happened every time he trained, everything he did. His ange fueled his jutsu and Raine poofed once more. Slighty more of a rock than his last attempt, he was lifeless like the rock. But after a few seconds the whole thing sagged as if it were melting in the afternoon heat. He poofed back to himself and managed to stay upright by spreading out his legs and swaying as if the wind pushed him back and forth. His eyes were expressionless except for the disparity that crept through his wariness.

The embarrassment was crushing down on Raine so much he couldn't find the energy to step forward and lift his arms up, the weights on his wrist didn't help much either. He looked down at them and slowly undid a small latch on the inside, it snapped open on a hinge and fell off his wrist. The absence of weight felt good and he pulled the ram up to his chest. Raine closed his eyes, he felt so empty. With what little chakra he had left Raine pumped it up toward his arms. The familiar poof. And a pathetic looking rock replaced him. Quickly it shrank a few feet before toppling over and exploding as it hit the ground. Raine lay with his eyes closed in the grass.

Lavi stood from his resting place in the trees. It was true that he had not been asleep only watching so that the boys wouldn't feel pressure. He walked over to Raine and picked up the boy. Turning to Shikaree he said, "Eh, don't worry. He always does this. But now you know what happens when you use up all your chakra." he carried put Raine down on his felt and held his shoulders, Lavi gave him a little shake and pulled open his eyes. "Raine. Wake up. I told you not to over-do it." Raine luckily hadn't used up so of his chakra that he would die, he stirred a bit in Lavi's fingers but didn't quite come to. The older boy sighed and carried him to the shade. Lavi found it surprising that the kid was doing so horribly. He had beat an uchiha this morning! But than again Raine did prefer his fists to his chakra.

Raine rolled around in the grass. Opening his eyes to blades of green all around him. He knew what had happened, just as it had many times before. "I'm so bad at this." he spoke through the ground to himself. The small boy rolled over to look up at the leaves flickering like butterflies in the wind. He didn't want to chance sitting up yet. Lavi stepped over and toward above him. "Yeah, you are. But everybody has trouble with these things. There's a reason why there are so few ninja in the world. So stop whining about it and keep trying." he smiled a bit and sat down with him, watching Shikaree to see that he kept working. He was definitely better than Raine. It was a bit sad, but he hoped the kid could pull himself through and learn the jutsu. That what he was all about.

"I just can't control my chakra. I try and focus it into my hands, but it just won't go." he thought over the training in his mind. It seemed that the source of all of his troubles was deep within his bloodline. Raine turned over to Lavi, and pushed himself up a bit. "What can I do to use my chakra correctly?" he asked looking up through his white eyelashes. "Please, I don't know if I can do this on my own." admitting his defeat was painful for the small boy and he could barely stand to look up at Lavi.
The older boy smiled, "Don't worry about it so much. Just relax. I'd say that you might want to try imagining a path through your arms." this trick had worked for him many times when he was still learning the art of ninjutsu.
The small boy looked up desperately, "I already tried that, Lavi. It didn't work." He remembered the glowing hands technique it had worked once on that first time he succeeded but it didn't work again after that.
"Hmm... well your body's energy works in a circle. Like yen and yang, you know that black and white circle with the opposite thing." Raine nodded, "So I've seen people move in a way as if they were pushing energy around their body like water." He lifted his hands in front of his body and pulled them up slowly toward his face while he took a deep breath, he circled them back down to his stomach when he breathed out. "If you do this and than slowly move the chakra up into your arms and concentrate your chakra in your hands before you make the hand seal maybe you'll have more luck."

Feeling a bit refreshed Raine sat up, he didn't feel like standing up again so he just sat there. Lavi watched while he set his hands on his lap. Just as Lavi had showed him Raine rolled his hands in large circles as if he were pushing and pulling the energy inside him, he felt the energy rolling around in him. Slowly while taking a deep breath he pulled his hands upward and with it some energy. Again and again he built up the energy it rose through his shoulders at which point he changed the direction of his motion. The energy moved through his his forearms and up to his wrists, still breathing Raine pushed all the built up energy into his hands. They actually gave off somewhat of a blue glow and he quickly clapped his hands into the Ram seal. Instantly he poofed. Lavi blinked with the burst of smoke and blew through it to see the perfectly formed rock. After a good moment of rockiness Raine popped and the air stung with the release of energy. He sat smiling, still looking dead tired though.

"Wow Lavi that really worked!" Raine bounced in the grass, his success fueled him even though it had taken out even more of his chakra. No matter how much he rested, the day was just too big for an eight year old.
"Yeah, good job kid. You totally would have bombed that had it not been for my ultimate technique though!" Lavi smiled and poked Raine in the face. "You're looking down buddy, once you finish you should head home and get some rest."
Raine noticed the little detail in his sentence."Just me? Aren't you coming to stay again?" He remembered how Lavi had accidentally slept in Heisei's room and thought if it was such a good idea. But Raine really wanted Lavi to meet his mom.
"Eh I'll only come if I've got to carry your dinky little butt back home I guess." The boys laughed for a while, but Raine was ready to try again. He started the circle routine once more, and again pulled his energy slowly through his body. He concentrated hard on keeping his mind clear and pushing the energy on ward. once again his hands filled with chakra and Raine used the tiger seal to poof away. An even better rock sat in the shade next to Lavi. The older boy pat it and felt the roughness, "This one is good, I really am a genius aren't I?"

"Yeah you really are." Raine smiled up even more tired than before. "I bet I can do it again." Raine pointed up at the older boy, in hunger for a challenge.
"Eh, Raine I don't know it that's.." Lavi tried to warn him about his obvious lack of chakra and that he would probably pass out again if he tried it. But the small boy was already pushing and pulling his chakra. Up and up.
"Ha, watch this!" Raine placed his hands together in the tiger seal and once again he poofed. Lavi's hair rushed back with the force, and he cleared his eyes. It was a magnificent rock. He had to reach out, and his finger tips were so flawlessly lied to that it felt so real. "Raine, I think it's safe to say that you learned the jutsu." He smiled, there was no reply though. And the rock sagged for a few seconds before disappearing all together and leaving Raine once again unconscious lying in the grass. "Gah I told him." The older boy stood up. His leather jacket screatching. He stepped over to Shikaree, "Look I'm sorry, but I've got to leave. You are doing great. You're actually really good at this." Lavi gave the boy a thumbs up before retreating to his little friend. For the third time this day Lavi hoisted the boy over his shoulder and carried him off toward his home.

Shikaree sat down on a rock nearby but when lavi and raine left not even a cricket stirred in the grass....it was peaceful...Shikaree liked it that way it was quiet and serene...he could concentrate more on his jutsu then anything else.
