bridge and pete do not have a credit card? that is a surprise eek . i guess it's not supposed to be. my parents always told me that credit cards are eee-vil. but i've had one ever since i turned 18, and i've come to view it as a necessary eee-vil.
i never had a problem with my credit cards until my move last year. before that, i paid off my credit card balance every month and even had a healthy savings account. it's just that the move was really expensive.
now i'm paying for everything using cash, and any cash that doesn't go towards rent, utilities, and food go towards paying down my credit card debt. it's actually exciting, trying to see how fast i can drive down the balance to zero.

Gah! That movie was terribly disturbing. burning_eyes Now I have to do something to get those images out of my head.
That's the way to do it though Bri, credit cards are eeeeevil! I actually have several. I have accounts at stores that give you a discount for using their card then I pay those off every month. 23% interest isn't worth even a slight balance!
I didn't have a credit card until after I got married. I got a credit card for shopping online because if I use my debit I'm held liable/accountable for any and all fraudulent use. So I got a 0 liability credit card. I didn't do too bad with it until childern figured into the picture. Granted it's not their fault.

Malee BridgeChan As for the tax return convo, I guess it's a surprise that Pete and I don't own a credit card? X'D We use cash for everything and use payment plans that involve direct withdrawals from our banks. I know at some point we'll need to get one for the sake of having at least some sort of credit established though. I need to start a line of credit or whatever soon. But I just keep putting it off.
And I'm tired of waiting for this stupid Avatar episode to download. Sleep time.We need to get a new mattress, so that might be the start we need to get a good credit line started. We're wanting to get one of those uber pricey Tempur-Pedic ones. So that might be a great thing to start with.

i agree about using credit cards for online transactions. it just feels iffy to provide my debit card number anywhere. until now i am reluctant to use my debit card except when i am at the bank. if i am at a sketchy place, i use my credit card.
speaking of which, i just checked my credit report last night. i felt like a very responsible consumer. until i saw all those credit card accounts that i opened and closed back in college. the list is as long as my arm @_@. i wish there was some "how to take care of your credit rating" course back when i started college.

I dont have a credit card yet. Only a debit card. But thats fine with me, I like dealing with cash more. That way I know how much I have at any given time, so I cant try and spend more than I have. 3nodding
I did my taxes before I left home for spring break, and I got $0 back! I didnt make enough last year to count for anything.

I need to get my small business name registered so I can get a bank card in it's name. Anyone know how to do that? X'D
I'm going to start saving my receipts and such so I can write them off for next year's taxes and such.

I had to PAY taxes this year ><; was my first year ever having to do that... and it was just about $1300.... it sucked royally. *sigh*
I have had credits that i buy expensive things with, then pay them off a month or two later. The only outstanding bill ihave is my student loan, which i hope to have paid off by the end of this year 3nodding
*hugs Meri* feel better ^_^

Malee My student loan is going to be a b***h to pay off. 18k+! I have well over half of that in the bank currently but I have living expenses... Sucks being in debt. the best thing you can do is pay over your minimum payment for your loan every month, if you can. I paid the minimum payment for the longest time because i couldnt afford to pay anymore (my monthly payment was $156)., then i started paying $250, then $500, and now im doing $1000 monthly payments.
