Sith Interceptors are mentioned an so perhaps an upgraded version of the KOTOR fighter is what fills that out but we know for a fact that this Fighter existed at least in the later years and so could theoretically be in use in our age as a space superiority fighter. It seems heavier than the KOTOR Fighter and Stellar Magic already made mention of them. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Buzzard
