So I cut my finger while trying to use a pocket knife to get a marble out of a Japanese Soda at the Judd Store... I don't think I'll need stitches as the cut stopped bleeding after about 4 minutes, and I'm using two bandages to put the skin together without cutting off circulation. It still stings a bit but I have full motion range in it. I'm not exactly sure if it is a deep cut, but I'm going to the hospital with my sister for her appointment today anyway so I'll ask if they can see it then.
Any advice?
xp If I die, I want all my stuff to go to the guild. Boss gets first dibs tho.
rofl First off, don't use hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol to clean the cut, as they cause secondary cellular death (no, I don't mean your phone). Place the cut under cool running water for up to 5 minutes to ensure any bacteria are washed away, then pat dry and apply a bandage. You can use an ointment if you want, and give it time during the day to air out - air is important for healing. After it starts to heal, I would recommend using avocado oil to allow the skin to grow back faster, since it has vitamins A, E, and D, as well as collagen. I bought a small bottle at Dixie Nutrition that works great.
Hopefully, if you didn't cut the sub cutanea, it should heal pretty well, though it's obvious you went down into the dermis. There are a lot of nerve endings in the hands and fingers, but with such a small wound I don't think you need to worry about it. Did you know that nerves in the peripheral nervous system can regenerate?! But at the rate of 1mm a day. So if you cut the nerve to your leg at the glutes , it would take about 3 years to regenerate.
So, don't do it. Or as my Pathology teacher says, "Cancer - just don't get it."
