Meri: Then I guess you don't know about upcoming FFXIII, where they were instructed to make the main character a female Cloud?
Lyoko: You CAN do that with FFXII. Just like the FFVII auto-level cheat takes advantage of the Midgar Zolom, FFXII's auto level cheat takes advantage of a specific monster in a specific place.
In MY shrine, the Stillshrine of Miriam ( biggrin biggrin biggrin ), there's a rare monster called a Negalmuur that summons lesser monsters to fight for it. Using a complex system of gambits, you can instruct your characters to only attack monsters under a certain number of hit points while constantly healing each other. This way, the Negalmuur never gets attacked and will continue summoning monsters for you to kill indefinitely. You can leave it on overnight for tons of EXP, LP, and a decent amount of items you can sell for gil.
If for some reason your party dies during the night by some weird accident, there's no fear of a game over as long as you have a reserve party, because the game prompts you to switch to it when your current party dies. So you can escape to a save crystal in the morning and will have still earned a decent amount.
GameFAQs has a Negalmuur Auto-Leveling Guide, and it can be done as low as level 35, I think.
Also, I've never seen the FMA anime, but I've read descriptions of it and as far as I'm concerned, the manga's storyline is much better. It seems they got ahead of the manga while making the anime and had to pull some stupid purpose for the door out of their a** so they could finish the series on schedule.
Then again, I'm a writer and I have a lot of respect for the works of the original manga authors, who usually have no say in how their story and characters gets translated into animation. It's like how the author of Sailor Moon was upset by what they did with certain parts of the anime, like making certain characters gay or transgendered. Or how they nearly ruined the Harry Potter movies when they considered having it take place in the United States, and how Rowling had to demand British actors while fearing that allowing a movie at all would take away her rights to her own story.
Either way, the FMA manga is really good, and it's plot is a lot smarter than the anime. It's still running in Japan so there's no ending yet, so no telling how happy it'll be.

xd You can call me Alex, you know. I'm on a different account, but I'm still the same lovable guy. heart
I didn't know you could do it with FFXII. I'm still too far behind to have reached a monster that summons other monsters, but yes, I can see how that works. :O
Mhm, the manga is totally better than the anime. I got into the anime first, and it's already finished, so I took the liberty of going through it. The movie is a continuation of the anime, and frankly it's got a piss-poor ending. I mean, normally I'm against "fan-service" endings, but they essentially stranded the two main characters and said "LOL THAT'S THE END GUYS."
I've the first five manga. Quite a few more to buy. I usually much prefer short anime / manga that has an end within the first few dozen episodes or within about 6 books, but in FMA's case I give an exception. sweatdrop

Oh, crap, THAT'S who you are. I'm horrible when it comes to matching names to accounts (and horrible with names IRL) so I when I was responding to you I didn't know if you were a mule or someone new or what 0_0.

All this talk of FF X'D!! I guess I should throw my 2 cents in too :3! My all time favorite FF was and will be FF8. I loved the storyline (probably because I'm a hopeless romantic deep inside gonk ) and all the "GF"s you could get, not to mention the little mini game, Triple Triad (I actually have some REAL TT cards from the card packs they use to sell back in the day and use to make my friends play with me XD). I use to love getting Selphie to use her "The End" skill to end the last fight uber quick for the hell of it on my 6th and up times playing it <3 lol (And yes, I used this tactic X'D I should be shot, but it was only after beating the game 5 times I swear! I love that ending scene :'3 <3) FF9 is a close second only because I could never beat the final boss and never took the time to level my character up further to actually beat him X'D. Plus Zidane is soooo cute :'3! FF7 comes in 3rd because I hated to watch Aerith die crying (No kabob! Nooooo! gonk ) And damn, it's been forever since I've played it. Edit: I never got to play any of the later released titles because I didn't have a PS2 till I moved in with Pete, and by then all I had to do was watch him play them.

You have real TT cards? crying Share!
I don't believe I ever beat FF8 because the last castle had you use all of your party members, and I had neglected all but three. xd
On the other hand, FF9's final boss was easier than a cake walk. I thought it was just a mini-boss cause it was too easy, until the credits started going. :'3
On an unrelated note, I just opened up an old birthday card and found $25 in it. xd !!

I even have some awesome rares 8D Like the Phoenix and Rinoa; gotta love those "A"s XD!
I made sure ALL of my characters well leveled just because I didn't want to go into the castle yet and finish the game X'D Lucky thing I did. In fact, I even ended up changing my main 3 because of it. I didn't even know what fun things they had at high enough levels; which is why I put Selphie in my main group after which X'D
I was so under leveled in FF9 it was disgusting :'3 I just wanted to see what the story was, which is why I did as little fighting as possible.
Woot for forgotten money that is found :D!

I really really hated how after time was compressed in FF8, all of the towns were blocked off. For shops, you had access to a dude in the dragon airship. That was it. You couldn't talk to anybody, visit any sights, or do anything. emo Suckage.

Yeah, that did suck. On my second run through I didn't proceed any further when I got to that point and leveled my characters to 99 and then went and finished it. It was freaking easy after that X'D

If a game doesn't catch my interest in the first couple hours, or if I die due to ignorance of game mechanics in the same timespan, I usually put the game down and never touch it again.
Thus was the fate of Final Fantasy 2, 6, 8, 9, 10, Tactics...
I probably wouldn't have gotten through 7 if my ex boyfriend didn't bug me to get past the first few hours (it was the first present he ever bought me).
I know that these games are probably quite entertaining, but It's hard for me to get into an RPG.
I've beaten 7, 10-2, 12, and Tactics Advance. 1 I played to death but didn't get to the end due to boring leveling in the middle. Crystal Chronicles I also played to death but never did the ending because I was aiming for ultimate equipment first. I also have 12RW but I left on my trip out west while I was in the middle of it, and never got back to playing it.
My three favorite FF's are 12, TA, and 10-2. 10-2 is quite underrated.

Jen: Cut off whatever parts of the feet you don't need, if the style of shoe (a 4-inch stiletto sling-back, for instance) just doesn't work with the avatar's foot pose/shape. X3

around the third or fourth (or tenth?) time i played ffviii, i collected all the triple triad cards in the game. took me a long time because i am not good at those kinds of games.
i have a complete set of the triple triad perfect foil cards. or whatever they're called. i bought all of them from ebay, piece by painful piece. i try not to think about how much i spent on them.
on a different topic, the following conversation is still making me laugh my a** off.
