I still say try an error check. It will attempt to fix any system errors and bad sectors that cause frequent, unexpected crashes. Just because a computer is old doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad.
If all else fails you can call the company that makes your computer and ask for a system recovery disk. It will restore the computer to the facotry defaults...basically it'll be like brand new again. Just make sure to back up all the files you want to keep. xp

Getting a friend to transfer my files to a new system.. of course he's a) lazy and b) not here right now. So I'm stuck. --_--

Aye, I have wireless...technically I'm stealing it, but the guy is cool with it since he doesn't pay for it either. He get's it free from his companies satellite.
Wireless on average runs from 200$ and up if you're actually suscribing to it. However, places like Starbucks and other small buisnesses and coffee shops offer free wireless.
