Reese still looked at Toby suspiciously, before offering him his hand. "Alright," he said. "If you're head agent you must be decent at keeping control." He looked towards Lori. "Want to show them around with me?"

Toby accepted the shook hand. He already knew the dynamics here. He was probably just head on paper, not in practice. At least not as far as Reese preferred.
"Sure," Lori said with a nod, "Are you guys ready to head out?"
Dari put his ring back on and nodded. Toby turned to Maia. Was she ready?"

"Ready," Maia said, and stood up. So this entity preferred fae to anything else. It probably wasn't uncommon.
Reese took hold of Lori's hand. "Do you think those teenagers will come back? Will you lot hire me so I can have a badge? That was fairly effective."

The group headed out. Toby held the door for everyone and then closed it behind him.
Lori accepted the hand and felt distinctly like the child in this relationship.
"Unfortunately not," he said, "but now you have a whole team with badges behind you. As for the teenagers, I don't know." Some people liked a little mystical intrigue. Most were terrified of it.

"Why not?" Reese asked. "I think I'd be qualified." He did nod, though, and smile slightly. "Now you can get rid of those humans."

"Well, you're feature-bound. You can't leave the forest for long, right? So you could be an ally, but not an agent." Lori gestured to his rental car in an offer for Reese to ride with him. He didn't imagine the guardian would be going with Toby.

"Not long," Reese agreed, sighing. There'd been a woman who'd tried to take him out of the forest. He'd done well the first few days. But he had no power outside the forest and he'd started to fade. He looked to the car Lori gestured to and nodded.

It was a little odd, where they had to park to be less suspicious as they reentered the wood. For the agents, though, it was a fairly normal set of rules. They didn't want to cause any ruckus.
They split up initially then gathered together, and then it was up to Reese to give the tour.

Reese was quite pleased with this position, it seemed. He had released Lori's hand, and was now leading the agents through the forest. He turned at every sound, and after a moment, he seemed to notice something. "One moment," he said, and disappeared.
The moment was quite...extended. Several minutes passed before he returned. He dusted off his hands and looked to the agents. "Ready to keep going?"

Toby and the others just waited for Reese to return. He was a lot like Michael, Toby thought, but younger. It was strange, because he was clearly an ancient sort of creature. He smiled when Reese came back.
"May I ask where you were just then?" Toby asked. If he was harassing the developers it wouldn't do any of them any good.

"There's a set of badgers down that way," Reese pointed. "They keep attacking other animals. Won't listen to me. I keep trying to chase them off, but they won't leave the burrow." He shrugged, and smiled at Toby. "C'mon. I've got plenty to show you."
Maia was frowning slightly. She took Toby's hand. Somehow, she thought the badgers he was talking about were human.

Toby didn't smile back. He just arched a brow and continued after the ancient child.
"I thought you two had talked about approaching 'badgers,'" he said. Lori shrugged. He thought they had too.
"You know," Toby continued, "If you scare enough 'badgers,' they'll mow down anything in their path to get to you. I hear they're quite the killers."

Reese blinked at Toby. "Badgers aren't that bad," he said. "They eat squrriels and attack foxes, which is pretty awful, but they can't hurt me. The wolves try, though."
"And," he continued, "As long the humans don't see me, they don't know I'm doing it. They don't believe what they don't see. And half the time, they don't believe what they do."

Ooh, ouch. Wolves versus badgers, hm? Toby laughed and shook his head. "Be careful. Humans have machinery and, worst of all, fire. They don't care about this land except to use it."
Dari looked up at a bird as they passed. It seemed to be regarding Reese with respect.

"I've seen their guns," Reese said, frowning. He clearly didn't approve. He seemed to be ignoring Toby's last statement. Fire was the worst weapon of all. It could burn through his woods within hours. He'd be dead. He led them on, and paused, phasing to a branch high above them.
He phased down, and offered Toby his hand. "Come with me," He said.
