"All hail," agreed Mephistophiles. Even though Faust was only saying it to inflame the X-Laws and maybe draw their wrath towards him, he couldn't help hailing along with him.

Lyserg went straight for Faust, who stood bravely without any weapons or oversoul to meet him. Mephistophiles dove towards him, but not before Lyserg's pendulum ripped through Faust's chest.

Lyserg appeared to be just as stunned as Netsubo. He stared in horror, afraid to retract his pendulum but terrified that he could feel Faust's weight supported on it. Even Jeanne-sama's words of praise seemed empty to him.

"It's OK..." Mephistophiles said, patting her on the shoulder frantically. "It's OK.... just focus...."
Lyserg retracted the pendulum, wincing as it sliced back through Faust's flesh. A narrow stream of dark blood started at the corner of his mouth as he fell to his knees.

*she couldnt. seeing faust like that made a whole new wave of pain sweep over her. if she didnt allow the blood bane to take hold, her body could be destroyed from the inside out*
