Takara stood steady, watching Megumi's moves carefully. A chill ran down her spine when she looked into his eyes. He seemed like a completely different person. He quickly drew closer, yet she stood her ground; she was waiting for the perfect timing. Finally, just as he went to thrust his bokken, Takara ducked under his arm. She spun behind him and brought her bokken down, aiming for his spine. She knew the attack would not work based on the speed he showed--a speed greater than hers; however, it was worth a try.

Before, he'd been dodging, yes, but what he does this time, can hardly be called dodging; no, it would be more accurate to call it 'blurring'. While he may not be able to shunpou, or move at speeds equalling shunpou level, what he does at that moment is probably the closest any student at his level will ever come to it. Rather than move his body forward to duck under the blow to minimize it, or even move out of the way, he's just..right *there*, with his body immediately turned, and his sword-guard right against her blade. Nobody as low on the figurative totem pole as Megumi is should move like that, but he did, and as the wind finally catches up to him, he acts.
He immediately shoves his arm violently downward and just slightly to the left, intending to force her blade to strike the floor, and force her arms to spread apart, and at the very least make her stumble somewhat; and in the exact same motion, slings the weapon upward, at an opposing, diagonal angle intending to strike her from right hip to upper left shoulder; were he fighting with a real blade, the move he's intending and performing, if it happens to land, would cut her neatly in two pieces. Fans of fighting games with swords in the modern world would call what he just performed a 'guard break and high punch counter'. Mind you, he wouldn't know that as he's not been to the mortal world..

Takara was surprised by the speed at which Megumi moved. He had to be faster than almost all of the academy students! She could not believe she was sparring with such a person, nor that she had held her own for so long. To her, a lowly academy student, Megumi was much too strong. She smiled; he was a challenge she would not back down from. As his bokken came towards her, Takara took two steps back. His weapon swung upwards, missing her. She took the chance to duck under his arm and swing her own bokken at his abdomen.

He admires her tenacity, if nothing else. When the weapon swings at him, he leaps backwards, and as he skids along the ground on one foot, he uses that one foot to shove himself forward in another thrust, although this one doesn't have the finesse that the last two did. It isn't that he's losing his accuracy, it's more that that move is hard to follow up. The amount of force it takes to push himself forward after skidding back is almost too much to do to put any real shove into the move itself.
Still, his eyes are quite determined..they've lost that cold edge but they're still rather detatched. One would get the feeling that for him, being on the attack means you have to fight with no reservations, even in such a match as this. It's just practice, but if you don't hold your own in it, then you won't be able to hold it in a real battle..

The young woman in the haori slipped into class quietly, placing herself against a wall, to watch the goings on. She'd felt familiarity here, and it had drawn her back into the classroom once again. Besides the necessity of learning, and of observing her teacher, he had drawn her here, just with his presence.
And it was him, who her eyes followed. Him, who she was drawn to. She would watch. And she would wait. Ran's eyes narrowed faintly, as she watched him move against the other student.

When this man said he was old he really wasent kidding. Sargon I had been gone for a long time now. At least now his roots could be traced back to ancient Summeria. The Akkadians had been organized fighters and had managed to change much of the early Mesopotamian world before the end of their reign in 2150 B.C.
"Well that all depends on your perception of what the 'true gods' are my friend. All that aside, you really met Sargon the Great? I've read a couple history books about how he took the entire Summerian world in three years but that is about the limit of what I know on that topic. Perhapse after this class is over we could grab a couple other students and have a good talk."
This was actually exciting for Rikou, very few people whom he had met were very interested in the mortal world compared to their studies in the academy. This was a refreshing break from that trend and hopefully he could get a few other classmates to join in. The more the merrier when history is involved.

Takara was taken by surprise when Megumi shot at her right after retreating. He was quick, and letting her guard down would be a terrible mistake when fighting against him, even if it were just practice. With this fight, she knew that she would have to train harder to become stronger and faster, but mostly stronger. She knew she lacked in strength, and she knew that it would be a hindrance later on. However, as she fought Megumi, she fought with all of her strength. Instead of leaping back like she usually would, Takara sidestepped the oncomming weapong and thrusted her bokken at the man's side.

Karites eyes locked onto ran quickly. (due to the fact my partner died) She had not been her when they started and she was concentrated very hard on a certain battle. Was she a shinigami or was she a teacher. He could not tell.

The Paradox Aichou turns those shining red eyes of hers in the direction of the motion of his arm when he pulls her in, and interposes her foot right against the top-blade of the scythe that's coming up at her, and she kicks off of it, using her opponent's counter-momentum to achieve some distance again. It's interesting to note that as she does so, she moves her free hand as if there should be something in it, and she gets a narrow-eyed look that speaks of frustration. She's used to having something in that hand, or on that arm, that she doesn't have with the practice sword.
This time, she stands firm, and lifting the wooden blade, she angles it, and begins spinning it with one hand. At the angle she has it at, it obviously isn't at its full reach..her arm is diagonal and away; the way she's spinning it makes it like a helicoptor rotor; she's using it like a blender blade, and she's whirling it really fast..and she just starts walking forward..slowly. She has just enough leeway to walk like that, and really her only vulnerable area would be her lower leg area, and she might bring the weapon down if someone were to go for the obvious attack..she's changing her attack into a defense. ((I appologise for taking so long, I have been away for the past 4 days)) Haro breathed in deeply and he closed his eyes, feeling every movement of her and watching it even moreso then he felt as she bounced off of his top blade and he smiled brightly, she was damned good. He just stood to his full height, nice and streight and he smiled as he stood there, almost as if he was mocking his opponent with that silly grin, but it was one of respect not rebbelion. He bowed to her as he walked forwards and he held his scythe tightly as he stood there, grinding his teeth and trying to fing a way to get to her, she was so well defended with that that he was baffled, but refrained from showing his confusion. He just ran forwards, something nobody bt a crazy person would reall do to this technique of hers, hopefully it would partially confuse her. As he ran he grinned as he suddenly pivotted on his strong foot and he threw the blade towards her lower body, it swirled forwards but even if defended against it would return around at the same location, THAT was the attack he wanted to get in. He jumped forwards and towards her upper body, swinging his foot towards her face, she had one attack she would have to defend from down low, and then moments later an attack up high, but as he threw that kick forwards towards her mouth, the scythe would be comeing back on it's round tripto hit again, a tricky manuver, but extremely dangerous, if a defence failed and she was using a real sword, he would die. Thank god it was only bokken.

"My name has been struck from the old records at my request, before I died..but I was a magician and advisor to his worship. In matters of state, I simply gave general advisement, but in matters of faith in regards to ritual, at least in the arts of magick, I was his primary advisor. I wasn't a priest per se, I was a sorcerer..I excelled in magical arts under the watchful eye of all the gods, especially in subterfuge and concealment in the name of Lilitu. Sargon himself did not truly need my arts of deception to rule his army..but his sons..were not as savvy as their father. They needed me, and I obliged, until I died right during the time of the empire's collapse."
He sighs, and shakes his head quietly. It really was a sore memory. The successors weren't necessarily BAD kings..but compared to their father..they disappointed. Especially the first son. Assassinated by his own court..bah.
"It was a long time ago..and while my memory is fuzzy in some places, I'd love to discuss it with you when we have the time."

Megumi simply shifts in the same way she had, to one side, and also does an attack motion, at the girl's throat from the side, to stab into a vital artery or speaking area. This comes from the idea that if he were fighting a seated officer who was capable of using their Shikai, should he pierce their throat, they would be unable to call out the name of there sword, and therefore they wouldn't be able to achieve release. It was a good tactic as far as he was concerned.
Every step he made was a movement into the next attack just as much as it was a defense. That last clumsy move he made had been a misstep; he hadn't expected her to dodge him quite that easily, and he overcompensated because of his bad movement. It happens to the best of them, so certainly it would happen to him, who wasn't even close to the best..not yet..

Aichou was unpredictable, that much was certain. As the wooden double-scythe came down, and he went up, the move she used was..unorthodox, at best. She brings the blade to a total stop and slams it down on the offending weapon, hard enough to put a crack in her own blade, and shatter the opponent's in two, sending the two pieces flying. The problem is, as this occurs, his attack would indeed meet her; as she was struck by his foot, her head simply snaps to one side...and those eyes turn, even if her face doesn't.
Her blade had come down...that free hand, she uses it then, and reaches up to grab the foot that had struck her, and then with that one hand, the weapon hand, she brings the blade straight up, in a 'bowling' type arm motion. Her entire point was to keep her opponent still and in the air just long enough, and if he couldn't escape..well, he'd be meeting her practice Zanbatou right in the jewels. She was confident she'd hit SOMETHING on him..but who knows, he's been surprising so far..maybe he might shock her again. Either way, if she contacted him, her weapon would most likely break too..

If Ran could read minds, she'd chuckle at Karite's assumptions in her usual fashion. Her, a teacher? Her, even, a shinigami? Neither. No, she was just a student, and it showed. But her shinigami outfit was far from typical, and when she shifted, it would become apparent that her haori was much shorter than the usual, only going waist length, not a symbol of leadership. Beyond that, no symbol rested on the back, proclaiming her as a 'member' of something.
No, she just used it as decorative clothing. Though at the feeling of eyes watching her, Ran shifts just slightly, glancing over at Karite, flashing a smile that reached her eyes, as her head tipped, and she lifted a hand in a wave.
