(*would like to recap that Kalis has cooked for the group, and Luke has laid the food out at a table for the group, including his own plate which he abandoned for his own, self cooked food*)
Luke blinked at the two as they came down, sensitive ears picking up their voices from acrossed the barren, nigh quiet spanse of the establishment. He says nothing, does nothing, but continue to eat his food, shunning utensils in exchange for his fingers and own teeth. He would, infact, eat like an animal.

Kalis wiped his brow, wetted from the heat of the stove and other appliances, and simply running about. He started pouring himself a glass of some iced tea- that kind from the mix that was almost as much sugar as anything else. He reached for other cups, but decided to leave them alone. Drinks, maybe he ought to ask about first. That was easy enough, and people were just filing down....
The plates were all gone. Well, if Luke had placed them all, that was more than fine. He left his own cup while the guy cooked, and or did whatever else, sitting on the kitchen counter with empty ones until he'd get back to them.
With a hand tucked halfway into his pocket, he came out at a lazy saunter, nodding to Owle with a little grin, wondering absently why she was so cheered. Though, it didn't matter too much. Mostly, it was just nice to see.
While they talked, he wandered over to the table, and stopped at a random seat- we'll call it his, for convineince sake- and glanced aground, leaning on the back of the chair. The guest had his soup. He had a little sandwich, grilled bread with gooey cheese, still hot, on each plate. But that guy was off cooking himself something in neglect of it, so...
He grabbed that spare plate, and walked right up to they're newest guest. The plate clattered lightly for a second as he uncermoniously sort of tossed it down when his hand was so close to the table he might as well have set it down, and gave a casual glance over Lazenca, and back to his eyes again. "We had an extra. Want it?"

((Duly noted...but Owle hasn't looked over at the bar yet.))
"I understand completely," Owle said to Rain, and she thought she did. "Just try not to kill him, alright? If he takes any hostile actions, feel free to rough him up a bit, just...well, I'd appreciate it if you didn't make too big a mess in the process, unless you're willing to clean it." Really, she was exhausted, and blood stains were hard to remove. Broken chairs were slightly easier to deal with, but it had been a long day...and she wasn't looking forward to any repair work.
Her eyes turned to Lazenca, recognizing him, though not because she had met him. Given that Owle was physically incapable of wearing shoes, and young male adventurers had a penchant for going topless, it was almost assured that they didn't have any policy restricting service to those who wore neither shoes nor shirts.
"Welcome to the Firebrand!" she greeted enthusiastically. "Can I help you?"
And then Kalis emerged from the kitchen, returning her grin with his own. She waved to him across the floorboards that seperated them. She did have the urge to make a large comic sweatdrop appear over her head, though, at Kalis's serving manner. While most of the patrons at the Firebrand had been coming there so long they felt like family, and a casual question like that was accepted among family or friends...Lazenca was a guest, and should be treated with at least a little formality.
In Owle's opinion, anyway. She was a silly kind of bird.

((Likewise; Rain doesn't really know where Kalis is/was before he came out, let alone that he was getting food for us. Keeping metagaming down to a minimum helps preseve the illusion o.o' )) Rain Yupa A rather glutteral sound eminated from the pit of Rain's stomach just then, causing him to place one hand on his abdomen defensively, looking downward. "I guess I have even higher priorities than that. Once whats-his-face stops wrecking your kitchen, I'd like to order something to eat. I doubt you, nor Sir Kalis, have had the chance to eat all day either. I'd be honored if you two would join me."Rain looked around the walls of the Tavern until he saw a clock on the wall for him to check. He then looked back at Kalis and his juggling act. Then back to the clock. Then back to Kalis. After giving a low, prolonged, single whistle, and clapped his hands together a few times. "Man, you guys work fast. That has got to be a world record."

(WELL FINE THEN. D:< I'LL JUST LOOK PRETTY. OR SOMETHING. *bangs pots and pans around and puts a knife through a wall or something*)
Luke watched and ate, the rage eventually subsiding, but not the grudge. No, that would take a bit more time, perhaps an hour or three.. or four... or six.
After swallowing a mouthful of mostly raw meat, the man-boy would speak.
"There is no profit in idleness." Of course, directed at Rain. Meat is feasted upon as soon as he finishes speaking, scarfing and slurping and enjoying the juicy, chewy, stringy textures.

His mouth opened to answer Kalis, but closed when Owle spoke. Insert another long moment of silence before his right hand lifted for whatever utensil there may be on that plate and the answer came low. Unless Owle was straining, she wouldn't hear it... however, perhaps Kalis would relay the message or his actions would do it.
"This will do."
How simple it was, this matter of obtaining cooked meals.

((*pokes Luke* A more realistic time sense wouldn't hurt, either. Somehow you managed to grab all the plates, put them down, cut up, cook, and start eating steak all in the time it took Owle and Rain to get to the bottom of the stairs.
SLOW DOWN, BOY! rofl ))
Owle blinked, finally registering Rain's last few words, then turned her gaze along the bar at the long line of grilled cheese sandwiches. One, two, three...and four, if you counted the one Kalis was giving to Lazenca. One for each of them. "Hey, Kalis, are those for us?" she called cheerily, pointing at the sandwiches with a big grin on her face.
She shook her at Rain's low whistle, still smiling. "I didn't even know he was going to cook something..."

"Hm?" Kalis turned away from the guest, since he was happy with his meal, and started back to the kitchen, before Owle's voice stayed him.
"Yeah. I figured everyone would be hungry. I didn't think to go hunt down Rand and see if he'd tolerate it, or make one for our other guest though." Ah. That's what he'd forgotten. "So, how's she doing up there? Any better than a few minutes ago?" They'd probably still be up there if she'd come too, and if she hadn't then there was no real need for a meal for her.
He looked back blankly, first at Owle and her great grin... then gradually over to Rain... and around over Luke scrafing down his food and back to Owle again. Grinning at him.
Oh.
He shuffled awkwardly, and folded his hands behind his neck, and quickly shuffled off to the kitchen. In attempts to hide a slight- and rather slight, but apparent none the less- flush come to his face, combined with an indignant look knowing his face was heating t'all. "It's nothing." Really...
"I'll go pick up the rest."
And but for the slight look of indignation, he'd shuffle back out a few times more well and composed, setting down a bowl of tomato soup besides each sandwich- because grilled cheese just wasn't the same without it- and a glass of water, save for his own, a glass of purplish high-sugar iced-tea. Including a glass of water for the fellow with his book, and both the glass of water and soup for the half dressed man. All in about the same casual manner as before. Kalis' job experience had been in the back room, not out talking to customers, mostly, and in a somewhat slower antiques shop. Not exactly used to beaming bright and waiting hand and foot on anyone to come in the door like a proper waiter for such an establishment as this ought to be.
After that, he'd probably take a seat at the table, just off to the side of where the other dishes were set, leaving people room enough to rearange as they like- or pretty much however, considering they could jump spaces, and Owle and Rain's dishes were about identical anyhow.

Rand, taking advantage of how his mom had completely forgotten about him (which happened fairly often, seeing how easily she could be overwhelmed by just a few guests), had found some cookies in the kitchen, poured himself a glass of milk, and scurried out the back door before anyone caught him in the act. He was now busying himself by consuming his "lunch" out of his mother's watchful eye.
He might be hungry for something more substantial, later.
"Thanks," Owle said to Kalis, still smiling, unconcerned about Rand. He was probably up in his room, and would come down when he got hungry. "It's a big help."
She glanced upstairs at the question about their injured guest, as if she could look through the ceiling and second floor right up to where the woman was. "No change. She's toom temperature, and asleep. I'm just hoping she wakes up."
He was...embarrassed? Why? Because she'd thanked him for the food?
Silly.
The thought was affectionate, rather than an admonishment, and despite her shields a little, undefinable postive emotion leaked out into the air.
And then there was MORE. Soup, and...well, water wasn't all that special, but soup? She'd expected that he'd just done the sandwiches, this was...wow.
Less than she'd have cooked, had she cooked, but more than she'd ever expected would be done for her.
"I'll put some water on for hot chocolate after we eat, okay?" she said to Rain, then headed over to the bar and took a seat next to Kalis, leaving a seat on her right open for Rain.
After checking to make sure Kalis wasn't in the middle of putting food into his mouth, Owle wrapped one arm around him, squeezed, and made a cute little contented sound. He'd done her a favor, and he was snuggly. Hopefully the little gesture wouldn't get him as flustered as another round of thank yous would have.

Lazenca had eaten quickly out of habit, but did so in such a way that it'd be quiet. It may have (or not, who knows or cares?) been a suprise when he pushed the plate away from his person, positioning it in the center of the table with is right hand.
It was only bread with melted cheese.
He sat there silently with eyes unwandering, as if part of some Secret Service or simply preoccupied with his thoughts.

As Rain followed Owle towards the bar, he ignored Luke's chatter as he spoke with his mouth chock full of half-chewed food, most likely dropping bits and pieces onto his plate and table as he ate. He glanced out of the corner of his eye at Lazenca, who he couldn't tell if he was staring at them, or just off into space. He only glanced though, as not to make the man self-conscious at all.
Sitting down, he smiled and bowed his head towards Kalis. "Thank you for the food, Sir Kalis. Don't wait for me though, you two must be much hungier than I am, having competed just this morning."
((Yeah, it just dawned on me. We're still on the last day of the tournament, huh? >.<' And now, back to your regularly scheduled RP post.))
Despite Luke's advice, Rain would eat at a normal, leisurely, not-half-starved pace, taking regular bites and observing Owle and Kalis. He chewed thoughtfully, his mind wandering to thoughts of his daughter, who he would have to call later. After all, the animal guy was doing a good job reminding him of his limited mortality. He really had no time to be idle, but that's what made Rain savor every last bite. One could never know when it would be his/her last.

Luke would eat, as if it was going out of style, only to place his plate on the middle of the table and rise, stretching, and...
Urrrrrrrrrrrrrp!
Dust would wiggle it's way down from the rafter's from the vibrations, and with a brief flush to his cheeks as he wiped his face with a napkin and murmured an "Excuse me." Before wandering out the back door, spotting Rand.
"Hey kiddo. Cookies won't keep ya fit, eh? If you wanna be runnin' up trees and scurryin' about in the wild, you'll need to be strong, eh!" He'd chuckle, sitting down with the boy.
Giving shifty eyes towards the door, he'd murmur to Rand. "Don't worry, I won't tell yer mum about the cookies." A boyish grin, and a hand scratching the back of his head signified understanding on a child-like level.

((Yes. We're failing at expediency.))
She'd have to wait for him to take a bite or two before she got that pause, and he'd freeze right up when she did. His shoulders shot up, arms going up and spreading out stiff as someone might backed against a wall, feeling for their way away. His head snapped downward, and for a moment, he just sort of blinked in surprise.
He lowered the arms, shutting his eyes and wiping the blank startled look off his face, wrapping one loosely behind her with a little sigh. Well, she was happy, he was relaxed, and no one- that he knew of anyway, and that was what was important- was actively trying to kill each other.
I haven't the foggiest what it's about, but...
He squeezed just a little for a second, and then left the arm loosely draped around her shoulders, elbow on the back of her chair. He opened an eye, and fed himself a spoon of the soup, watching Rain on Owle's far side as he did.
"Sir"...
He snorted.
"You're going to make me feel guilty about just digging in if you remind me I'm neglecting my manners like that." he chuckled, and took another bite of his sandwich, the little thick quickly dwindling, before he downed a swig of the sugary tea. "And there's no need for the title. I'm no knight."
The eye followed Luke up and part the way away, lazily, before it came back to the table. "Looks like I waited a few days too long. Flare's wandered off, and I'm trying to figure out what Athan's favorite vintage wines are- and how I can smuggle a few into him to lighten up his stay a little." He left his mouth open a crack, half feeling a yawn, but it slowly died away. "Guess the other teams wouldn't've cared to stop by then either, anyhow. Everyone seemed awful intense about the game." he admited to himself it would have been an absolute wonder to have had money to absolve all his debts, including those the Firebrand would never leave him bill for. And that he'd wanted to prove himself for his team. He'd taken it seriously, but... some of those people seemed like they'd have murdered just because it was there by the end. And when people let that sort of intensity in an ambition come over them, they were rarely anything but a pain in the a**.
