When I think of what that monster tried te do, what he almost did . . ! *the words tear free from her lips* I knew the Seraphim was evil, but . . . he hunted us down as though we were animals, and he laughed, he enjoyed it!
*her hands clench into fists as she recalls his taunts to her, what he said as he caught up to them . . . and how she reacted. She remembers striking him, picking up the rock to attack him again . . . She hadn't known she was capable of that sort of anger, that sort of strength. The thought focuses her somewhat, settling her anger into a quiet rage, an echo of the fury she felt before*
I wanted te kill him. *she clenches her teeth* I tried . . ! If I'd had the power, I would have . . . *saying it out loud, she seems almost a bit stunned by her actions. But still . . .* He was trying te hurt my son.

You did what you needed to do. For Will. Don't ever be ashamed of it. *Bard grinds his teeth together, the heat of his own rage building in his core and traveling to his face and down his arms. Maggie? *his voice is hoarse, but he tries to keep the anger from it* Let's go check on Will. Together.
*Kill him? he would kill a thousand Seraphims for doing this to her*

*Maggie feels his arms tense around her, lifting her head to look at him. She studies his face for a long minute, seeing much of the anger and turmoil she's feeling inside mirrored on his face . . . but his words validate her, and that helps to calm her.*
*Seeing the tear, she reaches up and gently brushes it away, holding her hand there against his face for a moment, and then nods* Aye . . . *She wants to be there, with both of them, to reaffirm that it all really is alright . . *
*But it also reminds her that, when her son wakes up, she's going to have to explain what happened. She frowns, her brow furrowing* ... I dinna know what I'm going te tell him about all this . . .

*Bard flinches as she wipes away the tear. He sets her down on her feet, turns and takes a few steps away from her*

*Maggie pauses, confused, as he pulls away from her, unsure what to make of his response. She twists her hands together and looks down at them.*
I know. *she acknowledges. And he's right.* I'll not lie te him. *But it tears her up inside, to know how the truth will frighten Will, however gently she tells it. She and Tavin may have been able to protect him from being kidnapped, from being injured, from being killed . . . but he's still going to be hurt by this, and she hates that, hates the Seraphim all the more for it*

*Bard presses his forehead against the cool of the door, forcing himself to calm down. He hates being so angry. He hates losing it... especially in front of Maggie.*
I'm sorry, Maggie. I wish we could shield him forever. But it's better that he knows now.

*cross cocks his head at the cat.. then shakes it.... trying to figure a good way to explain dressing a wound..*
er... its like this lass... when ye get hurt like y'are, its important t'cover th'wound inorder t'keep it clean and t'hold th'blood and such in. if th'wound gets dirty it won't heal as well, and it might get corruption.. er.. that is t'say y'll rot where ye sit.. So its important t'keep th'wound clean and keep it dressed... that roll of swaddlin stuff there will do ye right after I get the linens off ye, savy?
*he moves over to her and motions to her to lift up her shirt a litle so he can tend to her shoulder*
Don't worry lass... despite all appearences I'll be condcting m'self as a gentleman.

Aye . . . I know. *she sighs heavily, falling silent for a long moment, thinking. Even though Bard is only a few feet away, he seems so distant somehow, and there's a familiarity to that that troubles her. But . . . he said 'we' . . . and that at least is a comfort.*
I know I canna protect him from e'erything . . from e'er feeling hurt, or frightened . .. howe'er much I might want te. *That's a lesson she had to learn early on* I just ne'er imagined having te tell him anything like this.

You'll...conduct yourself as a...gentleman? Is that human-speak for something?
Janani shrugs. She'd rather be naked, anyway. She, however, knows that she's among humans, and it's in her culture to be respectful and mindful of everything concerning the ones they protect. The Shards have only existed since Sol was created and for Terra. The humans require clothing, so Shards wear clothing around them. Besides, Janani sees her bra as clothing. She just doesn't realize that a woman in her undergarments can appear seductive to the opposite sex (even of the same, but we won't get into that with her ninja ).
My shoulder does feel a whole lot better... I only feel sore in my muscles. Is "corruption" anything like infection?
Janani shudders at the thought of an infection. Most Shards do not survive an infection. They are often killed or destroyed in order to protect the rest of the race. She doesn't want to die... She holds WhiteRose close, easily burying it into her chest. She's scared, now. Janani hides her face, flushed, dark skin and reddening eyes, at the thought that she might have only survived to be at risk of dieing, once more.

*He draws her by the hand over to the door. He unlocks the door, then turns to her a moment. Caressing her cheek with his hand, he kisses her gently on the lips*

Its an infection...
*he notices her look and puts a hand on her good shoulder*
but don't ye worry we'll keep this clean and y'll ne'er have t'worry about it.
*he sets to work pulling the old bandages off and tossing them in a dust bin he goes to the sink and gets a fresh washcloth and dampens it..... gently cleaning the area around the wound he then takes the roll of gauze and wraps her shoulder cutting the end of the bandage with his knife and tying it off.*
There y'are lass clean 'n tidy. *he smiles for er then bends to put the stuff back*

Janani smiles as she hugs WhiteRose, this time with both arms. She doesn't seem to recognize the pain too terribly much. As she said, her shoulder is only sore. Cross would have noticed that Janani's wound is all but vanished. It looks nothing like it did the other night. It was deep enough to have fit a human fist into. It, now, seems like more a cut or slight puncture. Janani didn't notice. She only notices that, now, it feels slightly better.
It's amazing! Humans can do so much! with such limited powers... I can hardly even feel my injury anymore. You also did so much to help my Cat Plushie!
Again, Janani avoids naming her stuffed doll aloud. She smiles, but, deep down, she hopes Cross never touches it again. It means her life to her...far too literally. She won't tell him that. It's for his safety as much as it is for hers. She looks around her room, for a moment, not even noticing that she's still only in her bra, up top at least. She wonders what a human thinks of such a drab room. Janani thinks it perfect, more than enough for her purposes and uses. Of course, she doesn't reveal this.
Would you mind...telling me more about this place...the Brink?

*cross absently wondered why she wasn't dressing... and more to the point how she had healed so quickly... but he shakes his head chalking it up to her not being quite human... as to her state of undress... he'd seen more revealing things... but he did whish she'd cover up a bit.. w\as she asks about the brink he sits back thoughtfully*
Well, Near as I can figure, lass.. this place pecks out people at random from places in history... deposits them here.... and we all drink.... although this tavin fellow who they say is the owner has said that the lot of us might need to deal with some bloke called Seraphim....
