 As baseball began 1995 season late due to lingerin' labor dispute from 1994, fans turned their eyes to Ripken to give them a reason to believe in game again.

 Ripken put exclamation point on night he surpassed Lou Gehrig's record for consecutive games played by hittin' a homer in Baltimore's 4-2 victory.

 Durin' a photo shoot before 1996 All-Star Game, Roberto Hernandez slipped off platform n' struck Ripken in nose. Ripken was treated for a broken nose n' then returned for battin' practice.

 Ripken victimized Mariners on May 28, 1996, with a 3-home run, 8 RBI performance.

 Ripken silenced critics who thought he was hangin' on too long with a career night in Atlanta on June 13, 1999. Ripken went 6-for-6 at plate with 2 home runs n' 6 RBIs in Orioles' 22-1 victory.

Glacier Freeze  Ripken silenced critics who thought he was hangin' on too long with a career night in Atlanta on June 13, 1999. Ripken went 6-for-6 at plate with 2 home runs n' 6 RBIs in Orioles' 22-1 victory. I went to that game! 3nodding I almost got one of his homer balls but it landed 3 rows in front of me! stressed

Now here's a look at Tony Gwynn, Through Years  Gwynn arrived in majors as a svelte n' smooth base-stealin' threat. He had 319 career steals.

 In 1986, Gwynn's 5th year in majors, he won his 2nd of 7 Silver Slugger awards.

 At 1994 All-Star Game, Gwynn singled to lead off bottom of 9th n' scored winnin' run on a Moises Alou double.

 Known more for his bat than his defense, Gwynn was a terrific right fielder who won 5 Gold Gloves.
