Yeah, the books usually are better. Although I think Shawshank was better than the book, rather novelle.
I liked the Harry Potter movies, I can't read the books. I do like the movies, but they do have the Scooby Doo, gee how did we know it was that guy who did it kinda thing. Where just pick the least obvious and go with that.

I love reading as well. I also like watching the movies, because I like to see the book in action and how other people interpret it.
As for movies I like...
The Core 10.5 (earthquake movie. totally awesome) The Time Machine (w/ jeremy irons) Legally Blonde (it is just fun XD; wink Scorpion King (aaah the rock with long hair ^_^) Everything Drew Barrymore and Jackie Chan
Many others as well.

Just got back from Spiderman II. It was disappointing, like Ella said. The villian was way underdeveloped. If you are going to do a storyline of something that is in a series, it looks like the most obvious thing to spend quite a bit of time on the development of the villian. Also, quite a bit of time was spent on problems of Peter Parker and they didn't return to them. I guess they were suppose to be resolved in the 30 seconds between scenes. And I loved the first one.

I tend to like the dry heavy dramas.
Other movies that I like: Ocean's Eleven The Rock AI LoTR (1-3) HP1 Monsters, Inc. Spiderman Scent of a Woman Matchstick Men Pay It Forward Star Trek IV Star Wars (The original trilogy)
It is just hard to find any good science fiction anymore that doesn't contradict itself even within the same movie. I kind of hate that. So that is why I don't have too much of that on my list. Most of the new stuff is kind of rediculus, though is very entertaining if you don't feel the need to analyze every detail. I'm cursed like that. Can't even enjoy most movies that most people really like.

Orophin The Boondock Saints 3000 Miles to Graceland lots of others, but those 2 spring to mind... Boondock Saints! That's an awesome movie. William Dafoe cracked me up. My favorite movies are Star Wars (OT but I like the prequels too), We were Soldiers, Saving Pvt Ryan, M. Night Shamalya's movies, 28 Days Later, Trainspotting, The Beach, Dr. Zhivago, man the list goes on. But the best movie of all time hands down is Schindler's List. A very poignant, beautiful movie not done for profit, based on truth, I cried so hard. The number one movie in my book.

One of my most favorite movies is called Yours, mine and ours. It stars Lucielle Ball who I don't really like as an actress, but she was good in this. She is a widowed Navy Nurse with 8 kids and she gets set up on a blind date with a AirCraft Carrier Captain who is widowed and has 10 kids, neither one tells the other person about how many kids they have and their well meaning friends think that they both already know. They eventually fall in love and get married and he gets called out to war, and while at sea, gets a picture from some of the younger kids showing mommy with a big belly, but the time the mail catches up with him, he gets home just in time for the delivery. It is a very funny movie, especially for anyone with kids.
