"Heh, silly rumors and legends from a town that's been around for a pretty long time no doubt. Not sure how much stock I actually put into this whole legend it tells. Who would think a fruit would have so much power over something so important." In his mind he didn't see how just eating a little fruit would be able to tell such a big thing for two people. It was just ridiculous...wasn't like he would have a way to test it either just to be sure.
The thought quickly fell from his thoughts as he continued to listen to her further. It was true, there were plenty of different races and people here. Some he had seen before and others that were completely foreign to him. Those were the ones that made him nervous, part of the reason he had been so cautious of her to begin with. "yeah, there are definitely a good amount of new people around..." He commented but stopped at the last part. "New powers? Thought most humans didn't have things like that." He questioned with a smile of interest.

She hummed affirmatively as she took a careful sip of her hot chocolate. The heated liquid caused her tongue to tingle, slightly burning it... The sensation would probably fade in a few days, and it warned her not to partake of the drink too quickly. She was bummed a little about waiting, though.
He sounded like he wanted more of an explanation about the powers she had mentioned. She tapped the edge of her cup against her lips and she studied his curious expression. He was interested. Really?
She nodded her head slightly. "Yes.... and you're right. Humans aren't prone to having powers. Those few who do are usually so because of some bind to another creature, fae, demon, or something of the like. My situation is strange, too. Starting first with an opening.... and then an apprenticeship."
More or less. Her eyes glanced to the drink. "I see dead people."

An opening and then an apprenticeship? She made the whole ordeal sound like any other business transaction. Though, with the way he had heard some demons to be it could have very well been that way. Sell your soul and get this nifty power that may or may not work the way you think it might from the description they give you. "Cant say I don't think most of those types of deals go much in favor of the one that took the deal. Though, seeing dead people sounds more like a psychic or something." He said with a grin but shook his head. "But, who am I to judge. That's your business." He sent back again with a small shrug before taking another drink, betraying the curiosity he had just shown not a few seconds ago to her situation.

Yes, at its core, it was simple and a matter of business and order. Though, he did have a point. Most deals that humans took for power were skewed in favor of the one who held the power first, and generally for good reason, as those who seek such power over their fellow men are rarely in sound judgement or are able to effectively wield said abilities. To be in another's power generally humbles them like few other things really can.
Though, her situation was... still unique. She didn't doubt that Mr. Bergar did gain something out of this arrangement, but... he didn't tell her very much. She imagined that he was getting tired. Why else would a position be open, or soon to be? Why would he bother training her, then, if not to leave her with his position and move away from being what we was?
She wasn't really psychic, not in that sense. Though, it was entertaining to hear her condition referred to as that. More people than herself saw the dead and were able to communicate with them. She chuckled at this and swallowed a bit of her drink.
"It's hard work, but I'm honored to have the opportunity to do something good." She explained in good humor, taking no offense to the words. She still wasn't sure if it was fate, destiny, or simple choice that had Mr. Bergar step in when he did or to find her in the first place. "I wish I could explain."
She turned her gaze back to him again, allowing a smile to return to her face. He was pleasant to look at... perhaps it was the vibrancy of his energy and life force that made it easier to see him clearly. She would admit, weaker levels were distracting and called her attention more keenly. She was glad that she could just talk to him.
"But I'm probably not making much sense. What about you? What brings you to the island?" Her eyes betrayed amusement. "You don't seem to put much stock in the legend."

Jurand gave a light chuckle at her comments, raising his hands with a shake of his head. "Don't gotta explain it to me. I know all to well that a job is a job no matter what it is." A smirk came over his features once again, hands moving back to the table in a comfortable motion. From the way she was speaking he could tell that things were a bit more complicated then he probably realized and it was beyond him to pry quite that far into something of another's personal life, despite his own curiosity. If she believed that she was doing good by taking such a job then that was all he needed to know for now.
Her expression turned a bit more thoughtful then before when she turned to him, seeing the smile that hadn't been there before. She was definitely cute, the smile making it all the more obvious to him. A scoff coming from him when she changed the conversation to him now. "I don't have that special of a reason to be here really. Just been wondering around the last couple years, thought a change of scenery would be nice." He gave a shrug with the explanation. Not much thought had actually gone into why he wanted to be here. Maybe deep down he actually did want the legend to be true...or maybe he thought the wide variety of different people would make him feel a bit less nervous then he originally thought....for now he was just content with the town and that was what he cared about.

He wandered... Then how many places had he been to? What sights had he seen? He sounded almost tired, though. Did he consider his traveling had been too much? Was he wanting to rest and find a place to stay? Then again, he mentioned a change in scenery. Was he simply wandering similar locales? If so, perhaps he hadn't so much traveled as had experienced a transient existence.
Interesting... did this explain his vigor or his weariness? He seemed well, though. All she could tell was that he was healthy and strong. He was confident enough with his choice to have found himself here. Jurand... was proving to be an intriguing person.
"You chose well. I haven't seen any sunset more beautiful than the ones here. The sun touches the water in the morning. In the evening, it reaches the water again. If the clouds are close enough, they paint the water with the color they catch." Maybe she was a bit biased, but if he wanted a change of scenery, there were few places quite like this.

The wolf watched her expression for a moment. He could tell that she wasn't quiet sure what to think of him, but then again he could say the same thing for himself. The things she had said so far had kept him interested enough that he had stayed where he was. Deals with demons and mysterious jobs...'I wish I could explain', she said before. It did make him all the more curious to what sort of work had actually brought her here. Was it something she could only do with several types of people around? Or was it just something she thought would be less suspicious in a diverse area such as this one? Plenty of questions he could be asking but would leave for another time if he had the chance to meet her again. He hadn't particularly expected to meet someone to interesting in the beginning of being here, but...here he was.
A smirk came up to his features with her statement. It was clear that she enjoyed it here, however he hadn't had much time to explore the area so far. "I grew up in the mountains so places like this weren't really to close to see. Ill have to go and try seeing one of these for myself one of these days." He had seen plenty of sunsets and sunrises but it was a bit different on every terrain. Who knew, maybe he would like it a bit better in an aquatic setting.

Why do I miss someone I never met? With bated breath I lay.
The mountains were very far away from an island like this. Zoe reflected on her own mountain. Her home wasn't far from its own mountain, that she could see catch the sunrise or the sunset. The sun would paint the snow with such a beautiful array of color, pinks and oranges that seemed to be flattened clouds resting on the rocks. However, her mountains were just opposite of her oceans, cold and filled with salt.
Here, however, the water was warm. It was wonderful to be here on the islands. She didn't envy him the experience but she hoped that he would be able to enjoy the sunrises here about as much as she did. She would always recommend a sunset on a cloudy night from the ocean shore.
Zoe swirled the cup in her hand and sipped a bit more hot chocolate. She let the taste rest on her tongue for a moment before she swallowed. "Well, I hope you find a purpose while you're here. Even paradise can be boring if all you do is wander."

Skye looked over at Leon then nodded in agreement. "Yeah. It is a long way from home." She said before glancing at him and tilting her head a little, a blush appearing on her cheeks. "Y-Yeah... Sure... If you say so." She said, shaking her head a little bit. She didn't really believe it, but that was probably because of her own experiences with dating. Looking at him again, she then chuckled. "There is no wrong time to think about food." She said with a playful smirk. Looking up at him, she then tilted her head before glancing around a moment to see what kinds of places were around here. The young woman then turned towards Leon again and laughed as he said they should go to the ninth place instead. "Good because I don't want to spend all my money on one meal!" She chuckled a bit before nodding in agreement with going to the cafe.
After a short walk, the young woman then spotted the cafe. "There it is!" She said, grinning over at Leon before heading towards the building with him. Pausing at the door, she held it open for him, waiting for him to pass through before she herself followed him inside. Following him to the front, she then looked up at the menu before looking at the person behind the counter. Flashing them a smile,she then ordered. "I'll take a caramel iced coffee, a double chocolate chip muffin, and a slice of cheesecake." She said before paying for her food before Leon could even get a chance to offer to pay for it. She always felt embarrassed when people offered to buy her food, so she always tried to beat them too it. She then glanced over at Leon and tilted her head a little, wondering what he would get.

A long way from home indeed. When she agreed with him he felt fine but when she blushed and nonchalantly brushed off his bee to a rose comment he felt a little silly for saying what he said. Still, the damage was done and ain't no use on thinking on ifs and maybes. Besides, she still seemed rather happy with that grin she shot him and her comment on not wanting to brake the bank. "You and me both Skye." He chuckled before they headed off to the Cerise Shopping District just down the hills of Uptown.
"I thank ya' Mrs. Skye." Ryan says while the woman hold opens the door for him to enter the cafe she was able to spot. It was him usually holding open doors so the role reversal was a little out of the norm but very much appreciated. Skye wasn't your typical girl, yet shared their attribute for beauty all the same.
The line to the counter was short and their turn to order came very quick. What was even quicker was Skye's payment. Before Ryan could even fully take out his wallet Skye had payed leaving Ryan only able to look up from looking into his cash with a surprise written on his face. She totally beat him to the punch. "I'll have a Caffè mocha with a double chocolate chip muffin, and a slice of banana bread, por favor." A little added Spanish charm added at the end with his fluid accent and the rolling of his tongue. After paying the blonde cashier for his own meal, Ryan turns his smiling golden eyes to Skye and noticed her taking note of him. "You...wanna sit somewhere near a window while we wait together?"

Skye glanced over at Leon and gave him a smile before patiently waiting off to the side as he ordered his food. When Leon asked it she wanted to go wait by the window, the young woman nodded her head. "Yeah. Sure." She said as she smiled at him, leading the way to one of the booths over by the window. Sitting down, her yellow eyes gazed out the window, taking in the scenery before she turned to Leon. "So. Tell me a bit about yourself? You have any hobbies or what are some of your interests?" She asked him curiously as she looked into his eyes.

Skye had lead the way to an awesome table that had the perfect view of the outside that still held some beauty on its cloudy day. While she looked outside for a sec so did he. "Ain't much to tell about me really." Ryan says as his eyes stay fixed upon a male bird, a northern flicker, barely arriving to the city and bathing in a puddle of water all alone. "I'm just one of them type of guys that don't got a thing going for them and nothing planned for the day of tomorrow...I have enough trouble keeping up with the present."
His golden eyes then glance over to Skye, his elbow on the table and his chin resting on his hand. "What about you?" He asks quickly to keep flow of conversation play in his favor. "If you ask me about mine you've got to tell me about yours. It's only fair, right Skye?" A playful smirk upon his youthful lips as he sees this conversation as a cordial dance between them two.

Skye looked at the male sitting across from her, her head tilted to the side a little before she gave a small roll of the eyes. "Well that doesn't sound all that fun." She teased him a little bit before she tapped her chin in thought. "Me? Well. I can draw. I'm a decent singer and I know how to play the violin." She said as she smiled at him a little. The young woman then glanced over her shoulder as the waitress brought the two of them their orders. Smiling a bit,she picked up her coffee and took a sip. It wasn't that bad! The raven haired young woman then picked up her chocolate chip muffin and took a small bite. Oh! The muffin tasted just as good!

His life was rather unglamorous so of course he didn't sound fun. But in truth he did have hobbies. He was useful at things that required tools and just about nothing in the arts, so he had to tell her no and keep it thay way.
No one could get to close to him when he was a man on the run from his checkered past.
"We're just a little bit like Yin and Yang, ain't we." After thanking the barista for bringing the order to them Ryan smiles playfully to the young woman "While music and arts are cool they ain't nothing against the powers of the divine!" Like some old 50's style magician with a crystal ball, Ryan spoke in an ominous tone as if he had such powers...but did he have such powers, asked his ever playfully rise and lowering of his eyebrows.
