It wasn't enough to save him from another attack. The beast behind him reached out and snapped at his shoulder, taking a chunk of his uniform and the feather from his hat -- as well as doing him more damage. He clutched at his hat to keep it from going away and twisted to the right, trying to put a line of trees between him and the monster, hoping it would forget about him and move on. With a burst of speed, Angel_Moon catapulted out of the darker part of the forest, and listening hard he knew the jabberwocky wasn't after him anymore. Sunshine_Minx didn't stop running. She had wanted to, yes, but the thought of those teeth and that long dark neck snaking its way through the trees to bite her again was good incentive to not stop. At least not until she found herself with a new dilemma. There was a fork in the road.
Slowing with a frown and checking over her shoulder ever few seconds, Sunshine_Minx looked down one road first and then the other.
To the right, she had a health potion gleaming invitingly. To the left though... a second chance timer. The obvious choice was probably the potion. But the second chance timer...
How often did one get a second chance at things?

Finally, the ruse worked -- for another ten or twenty seconds, SpringTooth ran, heart in his throat, unable in the moment to separate this dream world from reality. If he died here, what then? He hadn't discovered yet, and he wasn't about to give it a whirl now -- And then he realized the creature was gone, and his steps slowed, first to a trot, and then to a walk, and then finally grinding to a halt. He caught his breath, listening to the forest around him, and decided he should find somewhere to hide for a while anyway -- even if it did seem quiet. There was no way of knowing what other horrors might leap out from behind the trees to give chase again, and after the heart-pounding terror of this encounter, he didn't have the strength for his usual bravado... _______________ Quest Completed!+ 2 levels

Why me? She thought to herself as she took another bite from the stupid thing chasing her. She was weaving and dodging as much as she could. Up until this point everything had been going fantastically. She had completed a couple dungeons, got her levels up and was feeling pretty confident BigMac was a horseman as well. She hadn't been able to pin point him since then, but that's why JadeOrchid was wandering around. She was looking for him to ask him certain questions. Biting down on her lip, the Dormouse rolled to the side and whimpered. Not cool. He ran until the sound of the monster behind him was just thundering footsteps behind him, and then kept going. He wouldn't let himself stop until he was away. She'd lost it for now. She couldn't hear it, but she dared not look. Not when she heard whisperings coming from behind her. JadeOrchid's eyes opened wide and she let out another whimper. Oooh this was bad, wasn't it? Hearing voices was bad. These didn't sound like the voices from the lake, either, so she was fairly certain this was bad. It's funny how smart she was in real life... she was reduced to a very low thought process. So she just kept running, panting hard as she did. He reached a fork in the path and panicked. Left right left right left right. As the steps behind him got quick he dove left and snatched up the item, and kept going. He was panting hard and kind of wild, but he was still alive for now. It was getting closer and Whalelord was near tears with fear. Which wasn't very manly, but whatever he was terrified. It snapped at his legs as it got closer and he narrowly managed to keep upright. She may or may not have squeaked once or twice as a tree or some other object that randomly appeared was snapped in two. The Jabberwock was getting closer. And somehow she was managing to avoid its maw. But just barely.
Sunshine_Minx cringed as teeth cracked something to her left. And then a few seconds later there was a scream and another player vanished.

She was coming to a fork in the road and she really didn't have time to figure out which way was the best path to pick. She let out a squeal as she took the right path and picked up the health potion and just carried on. At least her health was at sixteen now. Running and running and avoiding those gaping jaws. That was all she was doing. And somehow managing to avoid them. Mostly. A few times she wasn't so lucky, but the Jabberwock could never get that good hold it wanted. And Sunshine_Minx sure as hell wasn't going to give it that chance!

She woke up at the start of the quest. The teeth snapped down on her again and left her with 10 HP. " I'm going to do it this time." Determination made her go forward without giving much thought to her HP, even as she was snapped again. This time it wasn't as bad as last time. She swallowed thickly as she continued on.
