"Come on let me see them! I wanna see!" Amelia was looking excited, nothing like the girl who had been crying not even fifteen minutes ago.

"Um sure ok. Since you don't think Zuko is cute enough how about Luffy?" She pointed to the Ambipom who gave Amelia a huge smile and waved happily. Unfortunately Amelia just gave Luffy a bored look much to the Ambipom's disappointment. "Umm. How about Slowpoke?" Robin wasn't quite sure but Slowpoke was probably her next cutest pokemon. Well it was pink, little girls liked pink right? Releasing the dopey pokemon she wondered what sort of criticism he would face, she wasn't sure if the Slowpoke could handle anything to harsh.

The dopey pokemon looked up at the girl with a simple look on his face. "It's ok. Kind of dumb though isn't it?" She tilted her head to the side and gave the water pokemon a critical look. "It isn't cute enough though." She said flippantly.

"Ouch." Robin muttered feeling like this girl was much to harsh for being so young. She quickly recalled her Slowpoke before his feelings could get more hurt, already he looked like he was getting a bit depressed. "Um, maybe Raz isn't such a good idea to show." She muttered to herself remembering her reaction to just cute little Zuko, the huge six foot long dragonfly was a definite no. Heck he would probably still be a no if he was still a cute little Yanma. "How about Black*Star or Ace? They are the last one's I have on me." She still had Brook in the PC though, maybe if these two couldn't make it past the cuteness test?" Releasing the two starters Robin hoped that they would behave, or at least be cute? There was no hope to that though because as soon as Black*Star was released he started growling at Ace who promptly ignored it his cool attitude was enough to put an ice pokemon to shame.

At the appearance of one of Robin's trouble makers and the pokemon who didn't seem to want to be on her team yet did, Amelia's eyes grew wide. "Starter pokemon? Those are rare! Oh they always let those in. Trainers with starter pokemon or their evolution's are usually pretty tough and famous. "Are you famous?" She was suddenly looking up at Robin with wide and hopeful eyes.

"Famous? Um no... I found Black*Star outside of the Cerulean gym. I am the number one fan in his club." She was pretty proud of that, apparently Black*Star was to as he stop flexing his claws at Ace and gave Robin a thumbs up. "Ace though. Well, that's a long story." She muttered. She still felt bad about the circumstances involving Ace. "Still they can get in yeah?" She felt better at that. While Amelia did look pretty disappointed that Robin wasn't famous she did nod.

"Machamp knock that horse off of it's feet. Low Kick." The older fighter ordered as he eyed the Rapidash and Dante with a look that made them both a little uncomfortable. Still the Superpower pokemon seemed to have no compulsions about hitting the flaming horse, not that Dante really had thought it would.

"Apollo show them why it isn't a good idea to get near your hooves. Stomp." Dante frowned as he watched the two pokemon clash, The four armed fighting type lashed out at the unicorn pokemon while Apollo's hooves flashed slamming down hard on the powerful pokemon's arm. The Machamp gave out a cry of pain, still it was a show about how well trained it was when it's other arm grabbed Apollo's leg and gave a mighty pull knocking him to the ground. Apollo gave an angry scream as he fell hooves and fire flashing and lashing out at the fighting type.

This was not turning out to be any sort of elegant battle as the fighting type held on doing it's best to grapple the struggling horse down while Apollo's mane blasted forth huge bouts of flame and his hooves slammed into rock hard muscles. "Use Submission to hold that Rapidash down!" The older man called out. It seemed he wasn't to happy with the current battle.

Dante was defiantly not happy about how this battle was going. He knew Apollo had a slight tendency to spook and this was probably panicking right now. Plus it was never a good thing to have any Ponyta or Rapidash against on the ground, they could seriously hurt themselves very easily. "Fire Blast that Machamp off of you."

He laughed along with her at the joke. "True, but it was still pretty feisty. Or maybe Gigas really does taste like leaves." He popped his back from the fall as he looked down at Gigas.

The little fire type stopped and looked sad as the Snivy told him to stay away. He just wanted to play, and didn't understand why the newborn was afraid of him. Kressen got what was up as soon as Hayley spoke up. "You're a fire type Gigas, she is a grass type. You typically don't get along."

Saddened by this revelation Gigas backed off and yawned. Yea, after that battle you need a rest bud." He pulled out his pokeball and had Gigas go back inside for a break.

He then pulled out Odin's pokeball and sent him out. "Before we start may I ask something? I don't have a pokedex, so I don't know what moves he might know, so could you check for me please?' Odin sat on a on the ground looking about his new surroundings with interest. He then began to poke the ground with a sharp claw, seemingly bored.

Keeping true to his nature, Alvero put up a mighty fuss for nearly the duration of the entire flight. His screeches began to die down when they were only a few miles from Lavaridge, and despite his annoyance, Keegan quickly realized that the sudden silence was due to the Skarmory's fatigue. The redhead was a little surprised that the Steel/Flying-type didn't just dump his trainer's sorry a** and be done with it, so Keegan urged him into a relatively quick descent. "It probably doesn't mean much, but thanks for all the flying today," Keegan told the Skarmory once they had landed. Alvero replied with a shrill screech, but Keegan could swear he saw the bird give the slightest of nods before he was recalled into his Great Ball for a well-deserved rest. Maybe we're starting to make some progress, the redhead thought, studying the blue and red sphere for a moment before placing it back onto his belt.

It wouldn't be a terribly long walk into town so Keegan settled into a leisurely pace, making his strides short. Both hands were jammed deeply into his pockets and he focused his willpower into not lighting up a cigarette. He was going home, after all, and though he was essentially an adult now, he knew that neither of his parents would appreciate his rather unpleasant habit. In fact, he wasn't sure what either of them would think of his sudden an unexpected return home, especially considering that he had no real plans to go back out on the road again. Sure, he had gym badges waiting for him, but what was the point of it anymore? In the back of his mind, he knew that was just the depression and rejection talking, as he was still doing a pretty good job of holding himself together despite it all. He'd even been pretty supportive, even when she made her choice, and even tried to give him an out, but his pride just wouldn't let him fall apart, at least not just yet. He wasn't sure what would happen once he finally allowed his bravado to falter, and he wasn't overly anxious to find out, either.

The redhead's slow walk got him into Lavaridge just around sunset, and he tried to think of what his parents would be doing right about now. He paid little attention to people and places as he made his way through town, offering only mild grunts and small hand gestures as a response to those who tried greeting him. When he got home, he was mildly surprised to find that his father's truck wasn't there, Then again, with Keegan out being a trainer and all, it really meant that he was no longer around to deliver the eggs for them, and his mother did have a social life outside of the breeding center, at least sometimes. After finding the hidden key, Keegan let himself in and walked straight up to his room. He didn't even bother to take off his shoes, even though he knew his mother would kill him for it.

It was very satisfying to see Tingle let loose with a fearsome Earthquake, and even Miharu couldn't help but feel a twinge of excitement at the thought of the power Tingle could hold if it were to evolve to its final form. She'd only seen pictures of Metagross in books or on her PokeDex before, and it would be nothing like seeing it in person. She had also noticed Jasmine's surprise at seeing the Metang appear, and she silently hoped that her final opponent would not be a Metagross, as she was not equipped to deal with such a Pokemon. Tingle's Earthquake definitely shook things up and the Magneton looked like it hadn't enjoyed it, now drifting upwards as it unleashed a Thunderbolt.

The electricity sped toward the Metang, far too quickly to full-out avoid, and it would have struck Tingle directly if it hadn't been for the Light Screen that Starrie had put up just before. Some of the Thunderbolt was deflected and some did get through, and Tingle squeezed its eyes shut and flailed its arms from the shock. The Magneton was now far too high above the ground to be hit by an Earthquake, so they were going to have to get creative. Luckily enough, Tingle could hover just like the Magnet Pokemon. "Use Agility," Miharu called. Having a bit of extra speed wouldn't hurt at this point. Tingle did a little twirl, its metallic body glowing with a pale blue hue. It was now able to move around a little quicker, and Miharu knew it probably wouldn't take much else to bring the Steel/Electric-type down.

After dumping all of his stuff up in his room, Keegan kicked off his shoes and tossed his coat in the corner (after inspecting the damage done to the one side thanks to a certain hungry little dragon). In sock feet he padded back down the stairs and to the kitchen and mulled about for a bit, not sure if he was actually hungry or just feeling peckish because he was bored and upset. He finally settled on actually hungry and went about raiding the fridge, finding a bunch of leftovers that he quickly made up into a rather impressive sandwich. He topped it off by frying up some potatoes he found in a generous slab of butter and garlic. Sometime during his cooking escapades, Helios had found his way to his trainer's side, serving more as a foreman than an actual helper, even if he did use his odd psychic powers to pass Keegan the salt or something equally as minor. After piling his masterpiece of a meal all neatly on a tray, he managed to find some food that he thought would be suitable for Hades. He knew that Helios would have already been fed considering that he wasn't even being kept in his PokeBall right now so the Ninetales wouldn't die of starvation in the next few hours, though as the redhead started upstairs - after taking a few of his father's beer from the fridge as well - Helios headed back outside for reasons unknown to Keegan. This was just fine with the redhead as he really did just want to go upstairs, eat his food and mope, and he wouldn't be able to do that with a nosy fox staring at him the whole time.

He fed Hades first, which seemed to be a good idea as the little Axew devoured every scrap of food and half of the home fries before falling into an easy food coma. It was hard not to adore the little guy, however, and Keegan had a sort of dopey smile on his face the entire time he watched the Dragon-type. It was sort of nostalgic, caring for a newborn Pokemon, as it reminded him of his first few days with Helios. With a now sleeping dragon tucked safely in his Premier Ball for the night, Keegan sat on the end of his bed and ate his own dinner, which had grown slightly cold by then. He washed it down with a beer and set the empty bottle down with the other dishes on his desk before he decided it was time for a shower.

Being home alone meant that he didn't have to feel bad about using every last drop of hot water and that he did, shutting the taps off only when it was obvious that his hot shower was about to turn freezing. He felt immensely better afterward, at least physically, and once he'd dried off he donned a comfortable pair of pajama pants. It was far too early to go to bed just yet so he grabbed the other beer he'd taken and climbed out his window, and after a bit of shifting managed to get himself up and onto the roof. His steps were silent as he walked along the sloping tiles and found his way to a little nook by the chimney, which was his place of solace. Even Mike and Flannery didn't know about this little spot, which was good for him as it meant he could finally be left alone.

Where the egg was resting on the table moments before, there were now broken pieces scattered all about, as well as a strange-looking marine Pokemon having taken the egg's place. The Pokemon blinked a few times, its vision a bit blurry; as it tried to get its eyes to focus, it turned its head in an attempt to take in its surroundings. When its vision finally cleared, it found its gaze being met by that of a blue-haired girl. Nina smiled softly and brightly, and she reached over to pet her new friend on the head. "Hello," she said gently, "my name is Nina, and I'll be taking care of you now." The aquatic Pokemon blinked again, emitting a soft squeak. "My, you're a Pokemon that I've never seen before," Sabrina commented, watching as the Pokemon turned to look at her now. "You must be from the Unova region, I take it." The Pokemon squeaked again, this time sounding a bit more confused. What's a Unova? It didn't know. Out of the corner of its eye, the Pokemon noticed that there was another two-legged specimen that seemed to be staring in its direction. It turned its head to look at her.

"Oh. My. God!" Whitney squealed shrilly. "Look at how adorable you are! Hello, little baby! What's your name?! Come here! Come say hello to Aunt Whitney!" The girl reached over the table to embrace the creature, but the loud noise that Whitney made had startled it; it squeaked again, this time in fear-- and this squeak sounded more like a honk-- and retreated its head and limbs into its shell, where it remained motionless. Upon hearing Whitney's shrieks of joy, Anna came floating over, a bit of a perplexed expression on her face. "Jeez, what are the three of you doing over here?" she inquired. "Nina's egg hatched," Sabrina replied simply, "and the genius over here scared it back into its shell. It's only been alive for a few moments and one of the first things it incurred in its life was sheer terror. Whitney shot Sabrina a bit of a dirty look. Anna chuckled; "Lovely," she replied, before looking to the Pokemon which was hiding in its shell. "What kind of Pokemon is this?" Nina shrugged. "Dunno; it's not one that I've ever seen before. Is there any way that you could talk to it, maybe find something out about it?" she asked. "Of course, Nina." Anna floated closer toward the scared Pokemon, exuding a harmless aura. "It's okay, no one's going to hurt you. You can come out." Hesitantly, the Pokemon poked its head out of its shell a little; upon seeing the face of a fellow Pokemon, it eased up a little and relaxed, coming out of its shell. "There, that's it. It's okay. My name is Anna; I'm Nina's friend. Nina wants to be your friend too, but she wants to know about you. Can you tell me a little about yourself? Would that be okay?" The Water-type looked from Anna to Nina and then back to Anna; it squeaked a little bit, and re-positioned itself on the table. Thankfully, the table was a decent size, so even though the table had the girls' food on it, the baby Pokemon was still able to move around a little.

Anna listened intently to what the little one had to say, and she smiled, turning to Nina. "This Pokemon's name is Tirtouga," she announced. "He's a boy and he said that he doesn't like the loud noise that the funny-looking girl made." Nina couldn't help but snicker; she smiled to stifle her laughter, while Whitney crossed her arms in slight annoyance. "He also said, and he doesn't know why, he has this picture in his mind that looks like his shell." Nina blinked a few times, a bit confused. "Wait," she replied, "a picture of his shell?" She contemplated for a moment. "Do you think that maybe this is a Fossil Pokemon?" Sabrina nodded. "It's extremely likely, yes. After all, just look at the other fossils in the world-- look at Omanyte and Kabuto, for example. Their fossils are comprised of their shells, so it would stand to reason that this would hold true for Tirtouga here, as well." It was now Whitney's turn to be confused. "Wait though, we didn't revive this Pokemon from a fossil. Someone else did; maybe someone from Unova revived this Tirtouga's parent and was breeding them and planning on selling them?" Nina looked to her newborn Pokemon with a bit of a concerned expression. "Or maybe they were planning to do something worse with them, like experiment on them," she commented. "Maybe that's something Mew had sensed and maybe that's why it sent Tirtouga to me." She reached over and pet her Tirtouga on its head, causing it to emit a soft squeak of contentment. "Don't worry though; I'll protect you. I'll keep you safe." Sabrina smiled and nodded approvingly. "Don't think you're gonna take all the credit!" Whitney exclaimed. "I wanna help keep the little guy safe, too!" She reached over to pet Tirtouga, but it hastily retreated into its shell again. Whitney looked a bit grumpy, while Nina chuckled at her. "You know," she said, "he might like you a bit more if you didn't scream and scare the crap out of him every two seconds." She coaxed her Pokemon out of its shell, and he looked to Whitney for a moment with slight anxiety. "Don't worry," Nina said, "she's all bark but no bite. She's harmless."

A short time later, the girls decided that it was time to head out-- they had finished their meals and Whitney was very excited at the fact that they were finally heading to The Chrome. Nina put her newly-hatched Pokemon into a Pokeball and clipped it to her belt; it felt nice to have a new addition to her team.
"Oh, I just thought of something," Whitney said as the girls were exiting the Department Store; "would you mind if we stopped at the Pokemon Center really quick before we head to The Chrome? There's a withdrawal I wanna make."
"Oh? What sort?" Sabrina asked.
"I've been thinking about this for a while, but I need an addition to my team as well. I've only got three Pokemon with me, ever since--"
"It's okay, Whitney. We can stop there; I want to make a withdrawal as well." Nina knew what Whitney was going to say, and found it best to cut her off before she did. Whitney hadn't been quite right since the death of her Clefable at Maorde's hands.

The trio arrived at the Center a few minutes later.
Whitney headed to the PC and logged in to her account; after touching a few places on the monitor, she was presented with a new Pokeball. She picked it up, a bit of a grin on her face. "It's been a while since I've seen this bad boy!" she chuckled. "Oh?" Nina asked. "What've you got in there? A Ditto? Maybe a Granbull? Or how about a Slaking?" The pink-haired girl shook her head. "Nope, nope, and nope! It's a million times better than all of them-- come on out!" With a quick flick of her wrist, Whitney threw her Pokeball, and a burst of light was emitted from it, releasing its contents.

Anna stared blankly.

Sabrina tilted her head, an eyebrow raised and her mouth agape. "Oh, you have got to be kidding me."

A Porygon floated slowly about the Pokemon Center. It turned its head halfway around and flipped its tail upside-down, before making a most curious noise.

Putting both of her pokemon away Robin figured she would be safe with both Black*Star and Ace coming with her for this then. It was just a walk to, plus the extra eyes might be helpful for finding that Buneary. "All right then. Let's try to find your pokemon." Robin grinned as she got up and held out her hand to Amelia. The little girl took her hand and grinned up at Robin. "Luffy can you keep an eye on Ampersand for me?" Robin asked as she looked over at her first pokemon and best friend. The Ambipom just nodded and yawned, a nap would be good for him, maybe a trip to the cafeteria to? Grinning at him Robin waved goodbye before she left with Amelia heading back towards Amity Square. The two of them stopped before the pretty gate that lead into the well groomed park. "You sure Ace and Black*Star can get me in?" Robin nervously glanced down at Amelia.

The little girl nodded a very serious look on her face which would be somewhat funny if not for the butterflies in Robin's stomach. Something about someone judging her pokemon just made her nervous. Still she had to help this girl, what kind of hero would she be if she didn't help anyone who needed it? Taking a deep breath Robin summoned her courage and headed through the gates and up to the counter. "Ah hello I would like to go on a walk here." She wasn't even sure if that is what you were supposed to do. Judging from the embarrassed look that Amelia had on her face she was guessing it wasn't.

The girl behind the counter gave Robin a bland look and stopped filing her nails for a moment to look at her. "Well, you can go on a walk with your pokemon but only if they are cute." She managed to answer boredly.

"Um, are these pokemon cute enough?" Robin asked releasing Ace and Black*Star. In her arms Zuko gave them all a mild look before nestling into Robin's arms not really wanting to leave them. He didn't get to much of a choice though when the other girl frowned at him and Robin quickly returned him into his pokeball. At the counter the girl looked down at the cool fire type Ace and Robin's hot blooded Croconaw. "Hmm starter types. Not the cutest but I am required to let starters in." The girl didn't sound to happy about that. Even Robin had to admit Ace and Black*Star weren't the cutest pokemon ever, maybe their first forms were, not now though. "So which one are you going to take with you?"

"Which... which one?" Wait what did she mean by which one? Could she only take one in? Oh dear.

~~~~~~~~~
The two pokemon struggled on the ground. The Machamps strong arms and body were doing their best against Apollo's flaming mane and flailing hooves. The loud grunts and cries of the fighting type and Apollo's unhappy screams were enough to make Dante want to call Apollo back this instant. It never felt good to see ones pokemon in pain, especially when it was your starter pokemon. Dante didn't worry for a moment though as Apollo seemed to gather his flames and with a mighty blast it sent it's Fire Blast right at Machamp sending it flying back.
Apollo would have scrambled back onto his feet and the battle would have continued. That is if things had gone well. Instead just about any pokemon trainers nightmare happened. One of the Machamps hands had stayed clamped hard on one of Apollo's back legs pulling it hard as Apollo sent it flying back with his own flame thrower. A loud crack was heard and Apollo let out a loud scream.
Dante felt himself freeze as dark eyes grew wide. Silence filled the gym and only Apollo's pained cries filled the room. "Apollo?" Dante asked quietly not quite sure what to do for a second. Before he knew it he was rushing towards his pokemon and not caring for the swirling flames that were slowly starting to die down as Apollo weakened. Dante didn't care much for his body as he landed hard on his knee's next to his first and most trusted pokemon. "Apollo." He muttered reaching out a shaking hand to gently stroke the Rapidash's neck to help calm him down. "Apollo calm down please." Dante muttered even though his hands were still shaking he stroked his neck doing his best to calm his pokemon down so he wouldn't hurt himself more. As Apollo started to calm down the flames on his mane and tail started to die down as well.
Whitney chuckled gleefully as she watched her Pokemon continue to float about. "Heheheh. So?" she asked. "What do you guys think? Pretty cool, huh?!" Anna blinked. "Well... that's certainly one way of putting it," she replied. "I dunno," Nina added, "I think it's pretty neat. I was thinking about getting one a while ago." Whitney's grin grew. "You totally should! They're really versatile and cool!" she exclaimed. "You have got to be kidding me," Sabrina repeated. "You can't be serious. Whitney, you're really going to bring this thing along with you?" Whitney looked a little affronted. "Whaddaya mean? Science is a great Pokemon!" The Porygon was now hovering upside-down and bonking its head on the floor of the Pokemon Center. It made a few more noises, varying from beeps to phone static. It also seemed to be somehow balancing a disc on its tail. Sabrina stared at the Pokemon, her eyes large and horrified; she then affixed her gaze on Whitney. "I-- I can't," she said. "I can't even find the words to convey what I want to say right now because there aren't any that exist in the English language, and probably none in any other language, either." She paused for a moment. "You named it Science? Really?" Whitney nodded proudly. "You couldn't have named it after... oh, I don't know, an actual scientist instead?" Whitney's grin grew further. "You see, I was going to," she said, "but then I thought, why should I name it after just one scientist? Why should I give just one scientist the glory and honor of sharing his or her name with such a magnificent Pokemon?" Porygon's footlike appendages were now spinning around in circles and it was buzzing at set intervals. Sabrina couldn't help but to stare at the creature, still moderately horrified at its behavior. "I just-- I need to go outside," she said. "Come get me when you're both ready to go." Anna, who had been watching Science's behavior and movements as well, floated over to Sabrina. "Uhh," she said, "I'm gonna go with Sabrina. We'll be waiting for you, so just come find us." Anna and Sabrina exited the Center, but not before Science bid them farewell with a few buzzing, beeping, honky noises. When the automatic door shut behind them, Sabrina turned to look back at the Porygon, a look on her face that could easily be interpreted as fear.
"Huh. Well, what flew up their butts?" Whitney asked, receiving a shrug in response from Nina. "Dunno, but I think that your Porygon's a neat little thing though-- it certainly is unique, if nothing else." Whitney chuckled in agreement. "Oh, didn't you have to grab a Pokemon too, Nina?" she asked. "Mm, I did," she replied, walking over to the PC and logging on. "I wanna grab Mihoshi; she hasn't been in my team for quite some time, and even though she's a bit weaker than Anna and Krystal, she's still reliable." She touched the monitor a few times, and was presented with a Pokeball of her own. With a smile, she logged off of the computer and released her old friend from its ball. Mihoshi blinked a few times, trying to figure out where she was-- and then she saw Nina. She smiled and chirped happily, floating over to her Trainer and finding herself embraced in a hug. "Mihoshi, it's so good to see you again!" Nina exclaimed, laughing a little bit. She pulled away from her Pokemon after a few moments and smiled-- Mihoshi was still wearing Nina's old scarf. She'd forgotten about that. Mihoshi fluttered around the Pokemon Center for a moment, and then she found herself meeting with a most curious Porygon; this Pokemon was beeping at intermittent periods and seemed to behave a little erratically. Mihoshi wasn't sure what to make of the Porygon, so she floated back to Nina as if asking for an explanation. "It's okay; that's Whitney's Porygon," she replied. "That's right, and his name is Science!" Whitney chimed. Nina looked a little puzzled. "His name? Porygon do not have genders," she replied. Whitney sighed despondently. "I know that," she said, "but Science gives off more of a manly man vibe than a girly, 'let's get dressed to the nines and go out ballroom dancing' kind of vibe, don'tcha think?" Science let out a sharp, deep buzzing noise in agreement, which startled both Nina and Mihoshi. "Err... if you say so. Anyway, shall we be going? I don't wanna keep Sabrina waiting for too long."
"Keep Sabrina waiting? Sabrina didn't even seem too keen on the idea of going to The Chrome in the first place."
"Well maybe not initially, but I think that once she's there, she'll enjoy herself."
"Hmmm. You might be right-- Sabrina's kind of a stick in the mud sometimes, but who knows what she's like when she is actually having fun?"
"She's not a stick in the mud, she's just... modest. You could stand to learn something from her."
"I'm modest! I just happen to be fun, too. The last time I checked, that wasn't a crime."
"Mm-hmm." Nina rolled her eyes and chuckled. "Anyway, let's get going." Nina recalled Mihoshi into her Pokeball, and headed for the door. She heard a few computerized beeps coming from behind her-- she turned her head to find herself being met with Science, hovering at her eye level, a few inches away from her face. "Gah!" she exclaimed. "Whitney, are you going to put Science back in its Pokeball?"
"Nah, I think I'm gonna let him roam around for a little while. He's fine."
"...Okay, whatever. Come on." Nina exited the Pokemon Center, while Whitney stayed inside for a moment with Science. "I think that went well!" she said, Science spinning around and beeping happily in agreement; as it was spinning, however, it dropped the disc that it was holding. "Oops, we don't wanna lose this!" Whitney said as she bent down, picked it up, and put it away in her bag. "I'll hold onto it for you, just so you don't lose it. We'll get you evolved sometime soon, okay?" She smiled, and led her Pokemon out of the Center.
Mulling it over in her head Robin weighed her options on who to take into the park. Black*Star looked like he really wanted to go into the park and was practically begging to be let in. Still Robin had a bad feeling that he would make graffiti of his name and start fights with the other starter pokemon he ran into, Robin could barely keep him from getting into fights with Ace. Thinking of Ace she looked over at the Monferno. The fire type had a look that clearly said he didn't really want to go into the park. He probably wouldn't cause any trouble when he was in there though. Frowning slightly Robin made a big show of thinking it over, after a moment though she made up her mind. "Black*Star return." She would make it up to him later, she thought as she handed over her pokeballs to the lady behind the counter. "Keep them safe yeah?" Looking down at Ace she gave him a cheerful smile. "Ready to go for a walk Ace?"
The Monferno just looked up at Robin and gave her a curious look before turning around and heading out of the doors and into the park. The Monferno didn't quite know what to make of this. He was a little less bitter about her leaving him at Rowans lab for all those years. Ace supposed it helped that there really wasn't any mean bone in that girls body, either that or she wasn't smart enough to do something intentionally mean. Looking back he watched as the redhead walked out of the building with the little girl at her side holding her hand. Sighing and whipping his fire tail in mild annoyance that he was doing this the Monferno walked on over and joined the duo.
~~~~~~~~~

Dante didn't even notice as Nurse Joy and a small squad of nurses rushed in, he hadn't even seen Angelic run off to the pokemon center. The normally pretty stoic boy was shaken to the core. He had known that Rapidash and other pokemon that relied on four legs like Apollo did were very weak if they got knocked off their feet. He should have called the battle over the moment that Apollo fell. How could he have let that happen to his Rapidash?

The auburn haired boy just sat there with wide eyes as he was pushed out of the way by Nurse Joy and the nurses. All of the words seemed to fall on deaf ears as Angelic gently pulled him to his feet to make room for the stretcher. The medical team carefully put the fire horse on the stretcher and soon they were on their way to the pokemon center. Dante himself was in a daze as Angelic gently lead him to the pokemon center. If he was even aware of what was going on then he was hiding it very well. It seemed like he might be going into shock due to the fact that his first pokemon had been hurt so badly.

Nina met up with Sabrina and Anna, and was joined up by Whitney and Science a few moments later, Science beeping occasionally. "All right, are you guys ready to go?" Nina asked, fidgeting with her hair a little bit. "Where are we going?" Anna inquired, looking from Nina to Whitney. "We're going dancing at The Chrome!" Whitney replied exhuberantly. "And you bet that I'm ready and rarin' to go! I'm sooo looking forward to this; you don't even know! Let's go, let's go!" Sabrina raised an eyebrow. "Yes, I'm ready to go as well. The sooner we go, the sooner that we can come back, after all." Nina frowned a little. "C'mon, Sabrina, don't be that way. I think this will do all three of us some good. We need a distraction from all the seriousness in our lives." The elder psychic nodded after a few moments. "You're right; I'm sorry. Besides, I might be able to show you two how to really dance." Whitney looked extremely surprised. "Is that a fact?" she asked, her surprise evident in her voice. "Well then, why are we still standing around here then?! Let's get going!" Nina grinned. "Okay! So, just where is this place, anyway? I don't recall seeing it when we got off the train." Whitney flicked her wrist. "Psht, don't worry about that! Just follow me; I'll lead the way!" The girl spun around and took off, Science beeping excessively and floating after her. "The amount of energy and carelessness that that girl exudes is a little bit overwhelming sometimes. Oh, well; shall we?" Nina nodded, as she and Sabrina took off after the pink-haired girl, Anna keeping pace to keep up with them.

"Hey Whitney, slow down already!" Nina hollered, finally catching up to her. "What's the rush? It's not like The Chrome is going anywhere."
"I know that, but I'm excited! I just-- I wanna go! We never get to do anything fun and it seems like whenever we do, something always seems to interrupt us and then we have to spend who knows how long fighting age-old buttheads with murderous dragons and evil ex-boyfriends. I wanna get there and have as much fun as we can before one of those things inevitably happens!"
"Well, I don't think we need to worry about Raimundo-- he effed off to who knows where when we took care of him. Plus, Maorde? He's kind of a doll now, so he won't be giving us any trouble anymore. So, stop worrying!"
"I agree with Nina; our threats are out of the way, which is a miracle within itself. You shouldn't concern yourself, Whitney-- none of us should."
"Okay, okay." She chuckled a little. "I'll calm down for now, but I can't promise how I'll be when we get there!"

The girls continued onward, passing by some relatively nondescript buildings in the process. "So, you never did actually answer my question-- where is this place?" Nina asked. "Welllll," Whitney began, "from what I hear it's this appropriately-colored chrome building in the northwest part of the city, up past the Radio Tower. It's kinda small, but it's supposedly bigger on the inside-- whatever that means." A little shrug from the blue-haired girl. "It probably just means that the building is deceptively constructed, making it seem smaller than it actually is." Science buzzed several times; it seemed to be agreeing with Nina. "Anna, what's Science even saying? He keeps making all these funny noises but I can't for the life of me discern his speech," Nina stated, eyeing the Normal-type Pokemon. "I... well," Anna begin, "this is going to sound a little strange, but he's only saying two words: the numbers zero and one. Even though he's making all these different noises, those two words are the only things he's actually saying. I don't really understand it." Nina tilted her head a little. "...Huh. That's interesting." Science beeped four times, briefly. He then paused and beeped twice more; these beeps were just as brief. Nina studied the odd Pokemon for a few moments. What are you trying to say to us? she thought.

It was another fifteen minutes or so of walking before the girls' destination was coming into view. It was just as Whitney had described it; it looked to be a rather small building from the outside, and it was of a very lustrous, chrome color. A sign comprised of neon lights which read THE CHROME hung above the entryway, and music could faintly be heard coming from inside it. As the girls neared the building, they noticed that there was a bit of a large line of people who were waiting to get inside. "Huh, it looks like it's busy tonight," Nina commented.
"I can't say that I'm too surprised; after all, it's still a relatively new place, and Goldenrod's the biggest city in Johto. It's natural that a lot of people would be drawn to come here. If we get in line now, then we should be able to gain entry within the hour." Whitney was growing antsy. "An hour?!" she exclaimed. "You've gotta be kidding me! I don't wanna wait that long!" Nina shrugged. "It can't really be helped. We have to wait our turn like everyone else."

Whitney chuckled. "I don't think so!" she replied. "After all, do you know who I am?"
"My sister?"
"A seventeen-year-old hormonal female?"
"An extravagantly annoying prat?"
Science beeped a few times.

Whitney was silent for a moment. "...I hate all of you; you know that, right?" She sighed exasperatedly. "I'm the Goldenrod City Gym Leader. I have clout in Johto, but especially here! I'm practically a celebrity, which means that I can totally get us in there like, super fast! Plus, the management and The Chrome's reputation will skyrocket when I become a frequent visitor here. Just stick with me." Whitney led the girls to the back of the line, where she was instantly recognized by a male Trainer. "Whoa, no way!" he exclaimed. "Whitney! I-- hi! Did you want to go in front of me? I-I'm in no hurry!" The girl smiled warmly. "Well, that is just so sweet of you! Thank you!" She pecked the Trainer on the cheek as Nina, Anna, and Sabrina stared on incredulously. "But, would it be okay if my friends came with me? I've got my sister Nina with me, as well as Sabrina from Saffron!" The male looked from Whitney to the other two girls. "Whoa! O-of course, it'd be my pleasure!" The boy stepped aside and allowed Nina and Sabrina to pass in front of him as well, and Whitney flashed her companions a grin. "See? It's just that simple. I--" Whitney was cut off as the girl who was in front of her recognized her as well, and history repeated itself-- she was invited to cut in front of the girl. Sabrina shook her head a little bit. "Unbelievable," she said. "It's never this easy, ever." Whitney shrugged. "What can I say? People around here love me, and I love them! You hear me, Goldenrod?! I love you all!" She made sure that everyone in her immediate area heard her, and everyone's heads turned to look at her, and those people cheered for her. The crowd in front of her all stepped back, and they allowed her, Nina, and Sabrina to pass to the front of the line, where a bouncer was waiting near the door. As Nina followed Whitney to the front, she remained incredulous. Whitney might be a complete airhead, but everyone here really does love her, she thought. This is so bizarre...

The bouncer greeted Whitney when she reached him. "Well, well!" he said, "If it isn't Ms. Whitney Amherst! And what brings you to The Chrome this evening?" The girl smiled cutely. "I heard that this fine establishment had recently opened, and I've heard simply fabulous things about it!" she stated. "Therefore, I thought, what better way to spend my time tonight than to see everything that this lovely place has to offer! I'm further joined tonight by my sisters, Nina Williams of Blackthorn City, and Sabrina Williams of Saffron!" The bouncer looked taken aback. "Oh my, Ms. Sabrina!" he said, looking to the psychic for a moment, "I didn't realize that you had a sister, let alone that you were related to Whitney!" He turned to look to Nina now. "Ms. Nina, it is a pleasure to meet you." Nina smiled. "The pleasure is mine." She briefly contemplated explaining the situation regarding being related to Sabrina and Whitney, but elected that it was far too long of a story and that she would save it for another day.

The bouncer stepped aside. "Well then, I hope that the three of you have a fantastic evening tonight." Led by Whitney, Nina entered The Chrome and she couldn't help but to find herself smiling broadly.

A whole list of plans swam through the oceanic and devious mind of Sasha Jennings Beauchamp IV. It was time for her to have a little, old-fashioned fun. And by old-fashioned, she meant when she used to sneak off and make mischievous patty-cake while living at her parents' estate. Flashing lights! Room-shaking bass! Droves of sexy and mysterious club-goers! The pink-haired girl let out a wolfish giggle at the thought. This city had no idea who it was dealing with.

The crisp ocean breeze that welcomed Sasha as she stepped out of the hospital did precisely two things. One: Remind her just how wonderful it was to be alive, and two: pinpoint literally every single imperfection present on her body at that point and time. The dirt, the grime, even the occasional scrape. Sasha let out a haughty huff in vain protest. "Z'his will not do!" After at least three immature stomps, she rushed off towards the red-topped Pokemon Center poking out from the horizon.

The jog to the Pokemon center was invigorating for everyone involved, but mostly the not-so-innocent bystanders who were now all college-level physicists. "Whoo!" Sasha exclaimed as she wiped her brow, entirely aware of the attention she was receiving. Parfais! This was a start. Now for phase two: the gratuitous shower scene. Sasha made her way to the showers, where she disrobed and cleaned up meticulously and without shame. As she ran her hands all over her body, it only made her that much more anxious to get to the club and cut loose. There had been too many tears, too many explosions! Time to get back to her own element. Sure, maybe she's not so good at taking down evil organizations, but get her on the dance floor, and she could snap her fingers and have anyone.

In a burst of steam, Sasha exited the shower, wrapping a towel around her as she inspected herself in the mirror. Thankfully, most of the day washed off without much trouble, and the few scrapes that remained would disappear in the flashing lights. Her outfit was pretty busted up, but it wasn't anything she couldn't work with. Just go one button lower, roll up the tattered bottom and voila! Same with the skirt, which is why Sasha always carried an emergency set of safety pins. Middle-class, true, but they were the ones that really knew how to have fun. She squeezed into her newly modified outfit and gave herself the once over in the mirror. She looked dangerously good. Sexy, yes, but with a hint of class. "Allons-y." she said with a smirk, and exited the Pokemon Center a new girl.

Seeing as it was still early, Sasha decided to take a little stroll downtown and see what Lilycove had to offer. Being a port city, it had a slant to it, where the taller building were more inland and decreased in height until it reached the water. Sasha assumed this was done so that no matter where you went you could have a view of the ocean. Which was not a bad idea at all. The sea looked calm and peaceful and beautifully reflected the sinking sun. The setup also made pinpointing areas of interest super easy. At the highest point in the city stood the famed Lilycove Department store. Sasha shivered when she recalled her last trip there. She didn't even make it into the city before getting kidnapped by Team Aqua for doing literally nothing. She sighed. This city really was a magnet for the unsavory, wasn't it?

Sasha continued her walk, passing several bars and shops along the way. But most of them were old people bars; the kind that lonely depressed wage-slaves go to complain about their jobs, not have fun and dance. Curiously, one thing she did see peppered across the town were adverts for this new club called 'The Chrome'. After seeing a few flyers, Sasha decided to take a closer look. "Z'he Chrome...Goldenrod City?" Weird to see an ad for something in Johto all the way out here. The ad said it was brand new and featured hot up-and-coming bands to play along with a variety of DJs. "Huh, z'he Runaway Five. I didn't know anyone else knew of z'hem." Strangely, at the very bottom of the ad, in small print it said 'No vampires'. "Wonder what z'hat means." Sasha mused. It wasn't looking like a bad option. Not to mention, she wasn't having much luck here. And it would give the moon some time to rise and for the monsters to come out. That settled it! Sasha pulled out a Pokeball from her bag and released Roulette. The Fearow squawked and spread his wings, eyeing his new surroundings. After tying her hair with an elastic and stuffing it under her beret so the wind didn't ruin all her hard work, Sasha hopped onto the bird and directed him towards Goldenrod. As Roulette took off, Sasha blew a kiss at the hospital.

The trip to Goldenrod was relaxing. The wind was at their backs, so it was much quieter than usual, not to mention faster. Roulette fidgeted underneath his trainer, looking up with narrowed eyes. "Don't you even squawk what I s'hink you're about to." Sasha replied with a glare of her own. Not her fault she had good genetics. Not letting a giant bird kill her mood, Sasha looked in the distance, her smile widening as she saw the trademark radio tower rise up into view. The moon was now high in the sky and the city was aglow with inviting neon lights that drew the girl in like a Venomoth to the flame. Following a graceful landing, Sasha recalled her Pokemon after rewarding it with a small peck on the beak. She let her hair down and readjusted her beret, stealing a glance at herself in a shop window. "Tu me rends fou, mon amour!" Oh yeah. She was ready.

It wasn't difficult to locate the club. Not only were there signs and flyers everywhere, but being located next to the giant radio tower made it pretty hard to miss. After a quick walk, she found herself at the end of the line to The Chrome. Judging by the size of it, it would probably be about thirty minutes or so. She could probably flash a lot of money and get past the bouncer no problem, but lines never really bothered her. It only helped build anticipation for the main event. Not to mention, you could meet some interesting people in lines.

Speaking of the sexy devil, Sasha spied quite the catch a few spots ahead of her. Tall, dark, handsome and the best part: alone.

One of the nice things about living in a place like Lavaridge was that the nights were never all that cold, which was a good thing considering that one minute, Keegan had been hiding out in his little rooftop nook and the second, he opened his eyes to the sound of his father's old pickup truck rattling into the driveway. He yawned and stretched, feeling a little sore from the awkward position he'd fallen asleep in, and got to his feet, wondering what time it was. It had been dark when he first climbed up here and it was still dark now, and having left his watch in his room, he surmised that it was probably only around midnight. With practiced (and only a teensy bit rusty) ease he padded quietly over to above where the front door was located. He was careful to stay out of sight, but he did see his father walking slowly toward the front door, rubbing the back of his neck in a tired fashion. He paused a few feet away and even looked up at the rooftop, but Keegan had ducked even further out of sight before retreating back to his cozy little nook. He still didn't know if his mother had come home yet, but he was too tired to really care just then, settling back in and squashing himself into the comfiest little ball his body would allow for.

It was definitely not the first night he'd spent up on the roof, as he often retreated here in his younger days to escape, well, everyone. When Keegan awoke the next morning, the sun was only just starting to rise and he stretched, feeling a bit stiff and sore but otherwise refreshed. He was also ravenously hungry and had the kind of throbbing headache that made him feel as though he needed several cups of coffee. He got to his feet and wandered over to the ledge, stretching and flexing a bit more before he began the arduous task of climbing back down to his room. It had been a while since he'd done so, but it was rather easily managed, probably more due to muscle memory than actual skill. Regardless, the exertion felt good and the redhead gave a sigh of relief as he swung in through his window and landed on the floor, feeling very much like some sort of bad-a** Tarzan, at least until he realized that he wasn't alone in his room.

Todd Summers was seated at his son's desk, chair facing the window in a very obviously expectant manner. In his hand, he held a steaming mug of black coffee, and he raised it up and had a long sip, all the while eyeing his son over the rim. "Boy. I was starting to wonder if you were ever going to come down from there." He took a long sip of his coffee, and gestured to the bookcase, where another mug of coffee sat.

No words were needed for Keegan to know it was for him. "Dad, thanks," Keegan muttered, his resolve all but crumbling around him. The coffee was hot and strong, but it was just what he needed, and he sighed, wrapping his hands around the ceramic mug, very unsure of what to do or say next. His father motioned for him to sit, so Keegan moved to the opposite side of the room and sat down on his bed, not sure if he should feel guilty or stupid, or perhaps both.

Sasha eyed the boy up and down. He was dressed in a fitted button-up shirt and tight jeans with his hair just disheveled enough to make him look rugged. Confident, but comfortable. Sasha thought, buttoning her shirt up one more button so she wasn't playing all of her cards. Don't need z'hese for him. "Excusez-moi," she said, walking up beside the boy. "Z'his iz z'he line for z'he Chrome, non?" The boy, who was just a bit taller, looked down at the girl and let out a light chuckle.

"I may be reaching, but something tells me you're not from around here."
"It's z'he tie isn't it?" Sasha scoffed, looking down at her tie in mocking frustration.
"Oh yes." he replied, pointing at the offending tie. "Everyone knows around here that girls only wear red ties with white shirts. That's a classic blunder for foreigners." Sasha let out a soft, overly dramatic 'noooo!', which they both laughed at.
"Brad."
"Sasha Beauchamp."
"Wow, you weren't kidding." Brad said with a chuckle.

The two exchanged small talk as the line progressed. Brad was a Pokemon trainer who actually did live in Goldenrod. He was taking a break while he tended to his sick grandmother who lived in the city. Unfortunately, he was here to meet up with some friends, one of them being his girlfriend. Sasha snapped her fingers, making her disappointment a bit too obvious.

"I'm sorry?" Brad chuckled nervously.
"Non, non, non!" Sasha said, waving her hands defensively. "C'est bon." Her face turned a bit pink, much to her own surprise. "She's a lucky girl."

"You two together?" a voice beside them said. Sasha jumped slightly, and turned to find herself at the front of the line. Was it their turn already? Her conversation with Brad sure made time fly! She had barely noticed that the bass had increased as well, each sound shaking the ground slightly.

"Oh, non." she said in reply. "Mais, j'aimerais bien!"

He blinked. "There's a ten dollar cover for tonight." the bouncer continued. Sasha quickly produced a twenty, giving an over-the shoulder wink to Brad.

"My treat. Have a good night wi's your friends." she turned, and walked towards the door, reaching for the handle. As soon as she turned the handle, the door flung open from the music. "Wow!" Sasha exclaimed, excitedly stepping into the club. It was wonderful, flashing lights, loud music, a bar, with snacks even! It was sure new, the walls devoid of the usual collage of pictures of regulars and graffiti. It was so fresh, so young, so exciting!

The pink haired girl squealed in delight, handing in her bag to the checker, and strutting her way to the dance floor. She scoped out the scene and relative ages of the people around. High teens, low twenties, it was still a bit early so the DJ wasn't playing anything too erotic, but it still had a good beat. Sasha tapped her hands on her leg to the song and bobbed her head as she got into the rhythm before making her way into the crowd and getting right to it, jumping up and down with the rest of the crowd to warm up for the real show to come later.

Seeing Ace head back over to her Robin gave him a huge grin and a thumbs up before turning her attention back to Amelia. "So where was the last place you had Mr. Bunny?" She wasn't exactly the brightest person and really probably would have spent her whole day running through the park just yelling for him if she hadn't read so many comic books. Always in those she remembered the costumed hero asking where they had last seen the victim and they always found some sort of clue there. Maybe this would turn into some sort of huge thing? Like Mr. Bunny was really part of some sort of pokemon mafia or something?! No no she had to calm down. It might turn out to be something cooler then that!

Robin wasn't very good at hiding her emotions or really anything at all so the looks crossing her face made Amelia start to worry a bit. "Um, I saw Mr. Bunny last by those little sand castles." She pointed over to a weird little sand bump with a hole in it. Well that's what it looked like from this distance.

"Ah ok. Let's head on over there." Robin looked over to Ace and held out her other hand to him. When the Monferno just looked at it before turning away and walking on ahead of her she felt a small wave of sadness and guilt. Briefly she wondered what her life would be like if she met with Ace before Luffy had been given to her. How far would the two of them be now? Shaking her head she pushed those thoughts from her mind and looking ahead. She could never regret starting with Luffy, he was her best friend and had been since the day he hatched. That didn't mean she didn't feel guilty about what happened with Ace though.

Angelic sat Dante down at the bench outside of the emergency room and frowned slightly. The boy didn't even know where he was the contest master guessed. Worrying her bottom lip she turned her gaze over to the emergency room and hoped that the Rapidash made it out of this ok. There wasn't much hope for that though, even she knew that a lot of pokemon with Apollo's body shape were declared unfit for battle or travel after accidents like this, and that was if they were lucky. Angelic didn't want to think what it would be like if Dante actually lost Apollo. Even she could figure out that the powerful Rapidash was his first pokemon. You could always tell a trainers first pokemon. They always seemed to rely on that pokemon the most, or they were usually always out and besides that trainer. You made a special bond with your first pokemon and there was no way that a bond like that could be masked, no matter how cold a trainer was.

Sighing the blond girl looked back at Dante and felt a wave of sorrow for him. She had never seen him like this. She didn't really know him all that well but even she gathered he was a bit cold and standoffish. He never seemed to show that he cared to much about anything. Yet here he was in shock after his pokemon had been hurt. It just went to show that even though some trainers might not seem to care for their pokemon it didn't mean that they didn't.

About his pokemon though, Angelic wondered over to where she had seated him and gave him a concerned look before reaching into his bag and pulling out the only pokeball she recognized, she had covered it in tons of smoke stickers though. Rolling it around in her hands she wondered what to do. After a moment though she decided that Dante did need to be watched over. With a small click and a gush of dark smoke filling the room Dante's Dusclops was out and giving her a strange look before glancing over at his trainer. The Beckon pokemon seemed a bit startled by the look on Dante's face and floated down through the floor so he could get a better look at him. It seemed like he had never seen his trainer like this either. The cyclops turned it's gaze over to Angelic in a questioning way.

'Apollo got hurt." She whispered, for some reason it felt wrong to talk to loudly. "It's pretty bad actually. Do you think you could watch over him for a moment? I-I need to go outside all right?" Without waiting for the ghost to agree she walked out and fled outside.

For what felt like a very long time, Keegan and his father sat in silence, sipping coffee and avoiding eye contact. It wasn't much different than their normal time spent together, by any stretch of the imagination, though this time, instead of a distant indifference, Keegan was sure he could feel disappointment in the air. He finished his coffee, now a little bit cold, and set it down on the floor by his feet. "So," he said, absentmindedly scratching at one of the many cuts that now decorated his arm, "how'd you know I was, y'know, up there?"

Mr Summers rose, albeit slowly, a rare, almost smirk present on his weathered face. "I wasn't born yesterday," he said, collecting his empty mug and pointing a stern finger at the one Keegan had left on the floor, and then to his supper dishes from the night before. "Your Pokemon gave you away." He motioned for Keegan to follow him as he left the room, and Keegan picked up the mug from the floor before running over to the window.

Sure enough, Helios was on the ground beneath his window, nose pointed skyward, each of his nine tails twitching ever so slightly. Keegan narrowed his eyes at the fox, and was met with a coy smirk in reply. "Yeah, thanks a lot, pal," the redhead muttered. The Ninetales' eyes flashed a bright blue, and Keegan suddenly felt as though someone had put their hand against his forehead and gave it a forceful push. Keegan didn't even have a second to think about what an absolutely delightful d**k Helios could be sometimes as he was too busy tumbling a** over teakettle on a rapid collision course to meet his floor. Through the chaotic landing he somehow managed to avoid dropping and breaking the mug, though he did make quite a racket. The redhead quickly got to his feet and gathered up the other dishes, muttering a few colourful curses pertaining to jerkass foxes before he headed downstairs.

His father was waiting for him at the kitchen table, wearing his usual less-than-amused expression as he watched his son, possibly wondering what the commotion was upstairs but not caring enough to ask about it. While Keegan dumped his dirty dishes in the sink and refilled his coffee, Todd pretended to be interested in the newspaper, at least until the boy sat down again. "Are you planning on actually telling me what went on at Mt Chimney yesterday, or am I going to have to get the story from Karen?" When Keegan didn't respond right away, the older man sighed. "Or perhaps Flannery?"
