 Kalle nodded at the riddle before turning her blue-eyed gaze upon Tûrwen, awaiting her response. The Sphinx closed her eyes for a moment as a smile played on her lips. 'A coffin,' she said in a slow voice. To her, the riddle was almost trivial, though she suspected the girl had a similar strategy to herself; begin with simple riddles. 'Mountains will crumble and temples will fall, and no man can survive its endless call. What is it?' she asked.

Ava watched as Sparrow asked the sphinx a question. It was obvious to her, and apparently the Sphinx believed so too. Ava had her first question in mind. She knew a lot about muggles, because, well, she believed very strongly that if she were to dominate them some day, she needed to know a lot about them. Well, she would ask the Sphinx a fairly simple question to her, but it sounds confusing really. This should be fun.

Sparrow listened to Turwen's answer and she began to think. At first she was stumped then she figured it out. Time! Sparrow said to the sphinx, "The answer is Time." Sparrow smiled and then thought of a riddle for the sphinx. "A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50. The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less.In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?" She thought this one was fairly harder than the last but figured to the sphinx it would be really easy since they are great at riddles.

 Tûrwen waited patiently for the riddle. Although it seemed fairly simple at first, she had to think about it for a few moments before the answer came to her. 'The man wrote 'your exact weight' on the piece of paper,' she said. 'Now Sparrow, answer this for me; You throw away the outside and cook the inside. Then you eat the outside and throw away the inside. What is it?' She knew this riddle seemed simple but required more thought than the previous one.

Sparrow nodded at Turwen. She had figured the sphinx would get it and she then pondered the new riddle. Cook it? So it must be a food. An apple? No you can eat the skin. Sparrow grinned as she figured it out. She loved this food and she said, "It is corn on the cob." Now it was time to ask ehr alst question. She tried to think of the hardest riddle she knew. There were some pretty hard ones, but she decided to pick one of the more tricky ones and said, "I turn polar bears white. And I will make you cry. I make guys have to pee And girls comb their hair. I make celebrities look stupid And normal people look like celebrities. I turn pancakes brown And make your champagne bubble. If you squeeze me, I'll pop. If you look at me, you'll pop. What am I?" Sparrow didn't think it would stump the sphinx but this was an interesting experience to get to exchange riddles with Turwen.

 Tûrwen narrowed her eyes at this last riddle. She recognized it but could not decide where from, or what the answer might possibly be. She sat still as stone for a moment in thought before the memories flooded back to her. 'Pressure...' she said quietly. Suddenly, a riddle came to mind. She knew it was not incredibly difficult, but was still challenging. She then sat up tall and said in a loud, clear voice, 'Too much for one, enough for two, and nothing at all for three. What am I?'

Sparrow watched Turwen as she pondered the riddle. She was starting to think she had stumped the Sphinx when Turwen answered correctly. That had been her last question to ask but oh well. She listened to the next riddle thinking about it. Could it be a food? No, I don't think so. she thought to herself. This was a riddle that was starting to stump Sparrow when she thought of the answer. She thought herself silly for not figuring it out sooner and said, "It is a secret." She then looked at the Professor out of the corner of her eye believing that was her last riddle exchange.

 Kalle nodded and stepped beside Sparrow. 'Now say 'I thank you, Tûrwen, for the challenge,' bow, and you may take your place with the rest of the students. Five points to Gryffindor for being the first to challenge our Sphinx! Now Ava, if you would stand beside me, you may begin. Do you remember how to challenge the Sphinx?' she asked.

Sparrow looked back at Turwen and said, "I thank you, Tûrwen, for the challenge." She then bowed as Kalle had said then stood and walked back to her spot sitting down and writing a little bit about what happened.

Ava nodded, very eager to start. "I believe I do, professor." She took her stance next to the professor, and said "Im il umartempla lle. I am Ava, and I challenge you to a game of riddles." Ava waited for the Sphinx's reponse. If she were back home, she most likely would have kept her mouth shut and never would have tried this. Her 'friends' knew her status with Animals, or thought they did. She secretly liked them, but was still rather afraid of them. She made sure that the professor was still next to her. This was frightening.

Meiko clapped her hands as she watched Sparrow finish answering the sphinx's riddles. She turned to the new girl's direction, waiting for her to approach the sphinx.

Lena wrote down a few more notes in her book and then watched as Sparrow and Tûrwen challenged each other with riddles. It was quite interesting and Lena tried to answer the riddles in her head while they were told.

Professor Kalle Ithilwen | Vice-Captain | Care Of Magical Creatures { That is quite alright, as the same thing has unfortunately happened to me. I have multiple tests this week, as well as alot of work to catch up on. Of course I will be able to keep up the lesson, it just perhaps will not be moving as quickly this week. }

 Kalle smiled, glad to see that Ava was eager despite her past history with magical creatures. 'Excellent approach,' she whispered quietly. Tûrwen stood still as stone as Ava spoke, and for a moment Kalle worried that she would hiss at the young Slytherin. There was a definite pause in the Sphinx's reaction before she gently nodded her head. She seemed hesitant to begin this round of the game.
