Best/Worst Non-recruitable Female Boss (Excluding Ashera because she is a final boss.)
PostPosted: Sun Jan 08, 2012 4:57 pm

Best: Ishtar! She's a well written character, strong woman, member of Freege (bonus points) and is just sexy to no end. Maybe the second most sexiest woman in FE, IMO? If you're curious, Paola is the sexiest IMO, but she's playable, so good for her.

Worst: Hilda- complete witch, I can't see how Ishtar is related to her in any way, form or anything. There's that one spoiler-y aspect to her as well. In the long run, she's an awful woman, and is rather aesthetically displeasing as well.

Best: Sonia, hands down. She's the female boss you just love to hate, because she's just so openly cruel!

Worst: Petrine. Although she had her moments as a character, her defeat was shamefully easy.

Raven got worst? He's one of the best characters in FE7. Granted, there aren't really any BAD Ogmas.

Best: Gotta give it to Sonia. She pulls being a b***h so much better than Hilda. And her superiority complex makes her failure to realize what she really is upon her defeat all the more satisfying.

I absolutely love Ishtar's character as well, but she's too likable and nice for me to give this one to her, which I'm basing on villain-potential, in part. I do think Hilda fulfills her job well, though, also.

Worst: Selena, Selena, Selena.

I have no tolerance for the stupid or the "my country right or wrong" types - ESPECIALLY when they KNOW their country is wrong and go on with it anyway. You're not being patriotric. You're being moronic. Quite a fun chapter, though, by FE8 standards.

Best: I appeal more towards actual villainesses for this round's best. I have to give it to Sonia, too. She works so much behind the scenes with manipulation and is so damn good about it. She is the lust homunculus of FE7 and does it better than FMA's. Her chapter is really unique and I can't imagine ever not getting it. And like FD said, her buildup as a b***h and her complex makes her defeat so, so great.

HM: Petrine. I can't imagine her ever being considered for worst, not with all she does for FE9. She is THE b***h of the game. There is no other. Ena, to my memory, is the only other female boss and she works FOR Petrine. The game needs her like crazy. Petrine was fairly easy to beat, but come on, she has a BRIDGE chapter. It's not that much of a walk in the park..

Worst: Oh my gosh, thank you, FD! I was still deciding on my best, but I knew right away that I wanted Selena as my worst. She is a stupid b***h. Out of the three "good" Grado generals, she is the only one to not stand up for what is right. Even if Duessel talks to her in her chapter, she doesn't get off her high horse and go to confront her clearly deranged king? Stupid. b***h. And I hate her mug. Her head and hair looks stupidly posed.

Buuuuuuuuuh, I've been dancing on the fence for this one (also had to look up a few people), but I've finally made my decisions.

Best: Sonia. Having Nino kill her is so much fun, and finally riding the world of that horrible monster makes her chapter one of my favorites to hate on.

Worst: Selena. I half wanted her to actually join the good guys, but no, she just HAD to stick to her wishy-washy "I'm following Grado because it's my duty, even though what the Emperor is doing is wrong" crap. I second FD here; no tolerance for that stupidity.

This week's Best/Worst is chapter
PostPosted: Sun Jan 15, 2012 6:37 pm

Uhh, may edit multiple times throughout the week.

Best: FE5 14, survive for ten turns!... versus everything. Ballistians, sending Dean out to a remote village (which can be Warp/Rescue cheese'd granted), fighting things non-stop, and two bosses to conquer. This chapter is great, it's mild-difficult (as in not LOLTROLL hard), there is so much ways you can win, either defending, or offending and capturing everything. Love this chapter.

Worst: FE5 19- I hate everything, this chapter is the worst. Being chased by countless promoted units, having to sent a squishy Priest in the midst of it to recruit a rather meh person, the completionist in me also weeps for the unsavable villages, all the goods one could obtain via capturing, but can't unless you're suicidal. At least in the Evayle gaiden, you can just Warp/Rewarp cheese everything.

Best: Contrary to what some people say, I'm gonna go with FE5 24x. Now before anyone says anything, I look for a challenge with games and this chapter ranks up there for me. You have oncoming enemies from some spots for one, but you also need to worry about the warp tiles. There's also the option of getting a character back, though you need a specific person and a specific item in order to get that character back.

There's also the worry of boss enemies using status staves on you, and because of the area they are in, they can hit just about any unit. Oh yeah, and we also have to add that they can crit your units and kill just about anyone. *RagelostSetythiswayRage*

I know that some people advise to skip this chapter, and I've faced its pain myself. It was a very good challenge in my eyes.

Worst: FE5 Chapter 20

Now this one compared to 24x is what truly did give me hell in all honesty. I had to restart so many times because there's a 15 turn time limit and you need to also kill the boss before this ends, or else you need to restart. Oh, and lets also add in enemy units charging into your castle, and if they touch the throne you lose! Because I had focused on some units, I wasn't completely prepared and it kicked my a** countless times. Yeah even though it was a challenge, it kicked my a** too many times and I hated it.

Best: This is easy! I'm going with FE 7: Cog of Destiny. It has everything: a village to rescue, armory/shops to stock up on your supplies that are probably running low, promoted units, and awesome items to steal. This chapter also includes Vaida, who eats those constantly spawning wyvern units at the map's beginning for breakfast. And no matter which Reed Brother is alive to face you, they're going to put up a heck of a challenge.

My favorite chapter by far.

Worst: Four Fanged Offense, Lloyd version. Fog of war, a moving boss that happens to be a crit-master, AND a suicidal Wallace? That is so not cool.

Best: FE7 E30/H32: Victory or Death. I have never thoroughly enjoyed a chapter so much than this one. Huge open map with a huge amount of enemies, ruins that you have to get to (for items and a unit), reinforcements that pop out of nowhere, ballistae, siege magic, and holy crap that boss. Limstella is a high vitality, high powered dual-tank with a friggin' fimbulvetr. Love. This. Chapter.

FE7: Cog of Destiny and FE10 pt3 Endgame: From Pain, Awakening are also up there on my list.

Worst: ...This is no other possibility. I'm going to be arrogant here. Those who aren't picking it have either never played it or didn't think of it. FE10 1-9: One Survives. Yeah. The one where all you have is Micaiah, because she went out somewhere in the woods at night all alone like a stupid b***h, and then the ******** Black Knight comes in. How did he know where to spawn? ******** MAGIC, I DON'T KNOW. That one. Now, what's happening here isn't so bad storywise, but this could have been an interesting cutscene, like when Greil was fighting the Black Knight in FE9... BUT NOT A CHAPTER. I get nothing from this. Nothing. It's a complete waste of a chapter. And it's supposed to be part one's penultimate chapter! The few enemies there are suicide on BK, who leaves no survivors, which hardly leaves Micaiah any room for poking things to get exp if you actually still need her to get some this late in pt 1. All you do is go slooooooowly because ******** you BK around this tiny little square of a night map until you get right back to where you ******** started so that maybe Micaiah can beat Jarod if his short spear doesn't just outright slaughter her. I say this would be a good cutscene, because what happens really is dramatic with the whole BK vs Jarod thing and then Alder's sacrifice. Making it into a chapter completely ruined the atmosphere. And let's face it; Jarod deserves getting a cutscene where he's badass. So yeah. This is the dumbest chapter ever and never should have been made into a chapter. The end.

Best: Fe7 Cog of Destiny as well.

Worst: FE10 1-9. I had no idea what I'd put here, but after seeing Rath's...I can do nothing but agree.

Best: FE7 Victory or Death (E ch. 30/H ch. 32). I'm completely agreeing with Rath here; I LOVE Victory or Death and I always look forward to it in each playthrough. (I love the title, too: either I win, or all of you die. YAY~) I LOVE having hoards of enemies come rushing at me for me to annihilate (great stress reliever) and then I get to defeat the last of Nergal's three important morph minions (those three being Ephidel, Sonia, and Limstella), and then I get Ninian and Nils backstory! HOORAY!

Worst: Again, I have to agree with Rath: FE 10's Part 1 chapter 9. So annoying, and pretty much completely pointless, except to attempt to get Micaiah some experience. Thanks, but no thanks.
