Arahad shrugged. "As long as we feel like it. Mother and Father and I all have the ability to use fire, as does Lady Alena, so we're really not trapped. We could get rid of the snow any time we wanted to. The only problem is, if we get rid of it very quickly, we end up with flooding, so we have to be careful about it - a bit at a time."
He winked at her. "Don't worry, you'll be out before you go crazy. There are other ways to get around."

"There are?" Miyuki couldn't imagine how else one could get out and about besides the front door.
Well there was the back door but she was sure that was snowed in as well.

Arahad winked again. "You'll find out when the time comes. Wait until the wind goes down, then I'll take you out to play in it, how does that sound?"
Doors weren't the only way out, after all.
"Anyways, we should grab some breakfast," he said suddenly, holding his hands out to help her down from the table. "Come on, I hear voices anyways."

"Okay!" Miyuki took his hand and jumped down.
Not afraid of the height, she liked high places sometimes, and places where she could climb. Which was why she was excited at the idea of going out into the snow where she could tromp around and touch it.
Miyuki could not remember playing with snow as a baby, so to her this was new.
"What's for breakfast?"

Arahad grinned. "I think Mother was planning pancakes, she tends to do that when there are a lot of mouths to feed since it's easy and fast."
They entered the kitchen, and he waved at Lin. "Morning."
He headed over to the fire to see how things were coming. Just as he reached it, Haradhel re-entered the kitchen from the same way she'd left it.

"Good morning," Lin replied.
Miyuki left Arahad and pattered up to her mother, tugging lightly on her mother's night gown.
"Where's ada?" she asked.
"Gone to take a bath, he was still cold from last night, and speaking of cold let's go and dress in something warmer," Lin suggested as she ushered Miyuki along, "We'll be back in a few."
She said this as she ushered Miyuki back out of the kitchen and toward Miyuki's room to grab some clothes so they both could get changed.

By the time Earendil finished his bath and returned downstairs, dressed more warmly now, Alena and Elros had come down with Shiloh, who was laying on a blanket on the floor in the dining room, and Shiro and Kaito were lounging in the dining room with them.
He looked around for Lin, wondering where she was.

A few moments later Lin came in dressed in a knitted sweater where the sleeves covered everything but her fingers and came down to her butt. Miyuki was with her carrying both the kitties.
She was wearing a turtleneck with a warm sleeveless dress pulled over it because it was the most Lin could hope for. Pants were still not loved by Miyuki.
Lin greeted Earendil, "Feeling better?"

"Much," Earendil smiled widely at Lin. "And you look good and warm, too."
"And next time you're that cold you wake me," Haradhel shot at him, still a bit irritated that he had allowed himself to freeze all the night through. "Or I'll give you a beating you won't soon forget!"
"I haven't even forgotten the ones you gave me in training!" Earendil laughed. "But you have my word, next time I'll let you know right away. Are you happy now?"
"Satisfied," Haradhel replied as she finished cooking breakfast. "Happy? I'll get back to you on that one."
She picked up a large tray overflowing with thick pancakes and headed to the dining room. "All right, sit down, everyone," she called out.
Earendil chuckled softly and slipped one arm around Lin's shoulders, walking with her to the tables.

Miyuki set the cats down and hurried into the dining room. Now that the excitement over the snow was over she was hungry and she loved pancakes.
With jam of course.
Lin giggled at Earendil as they made their way to the dining room, "I guess Haradhel gave you an earful?"

Earendil chuckled softly. "She was quite upset," he understated. "Apparently being that cold for a long time is not a good thing. But she's a mother, she's going to worry even if I don't do something like that again."
He shrugged nonchalantly, then released Lin so that they could sit at the table.

Miyuki had already clamored onto a chair sitting and trying to be as patience as possible as everyone else sat. She stared at the pancakes like the way a cat would, or a fox as her case maybe, with her tails wagging back and forth.
Lin wondered though, she knew being really cold wasn't good for a person, but that was mainly because she had been warned as a child about things like frost bite.
Sitting down she murmured, "As long as it doesn't happen again, of course I didn't think it would snow this much this late into Winter."

"And I wouldn't know the difference," Earendil quipped, sitting next to her.
Haradhel served Miyuki first. She recognized that look - even if Saki wasn't as much a beggar as other cats were.
Shiro had brought his tablet to the table, and now that the food was being served, he set it aside to eat. There was a look of intense concentration on his face, and as he began to eat, he kept glancing at the tablet as if waiting for it to do something.

"Thank you!" Miyuki pipped up happily.
She happily dug in, pleased at the tasty treat, and to her pancakes were as much of a treat as it was breakfast food.
She paused for a moment to watch Shiro.
"What is your table thing doing?" she asked him.

"Experimenting," Shiro replied, still eying his tablet. "Or rather, I'm experimenting with it. I think when we get back, I might try seeing if I can't do something to get it receptive to magic ..."
All the elves in the room were looking at Shiro's tablet warily.
"What is that thing?" Arahad asked finally.
