...Honestly, Alex wasn't entirely sure how this happened.
After the first time he participated in the Cooking Festival, years ago, he had made a promise to himself that he would never take part again. He had his pride as a professional chef to consider, and he was much more content having his restaurant be a judge of his abilities rather than this silly competition. And despite all this, here he was, about to compete. There was a difference, however; he wasn't by himself this time, though he wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. He was participating with Freja, believe it or not. Sure, she was a hell of a lot better than, say, River, but he couldn't help but feel apprehensive. He had quite a bit of faith in her, and even though he hated to admit that he believed in things like this, his life here had turned around significantly once he started to get to know her, so he was hoping her presence would help counteract some of the bad luck he seemed to have. And if all else failed, he could blame it on Freja, though that was probably too unfair.
He had been as close to confident as he was going to get when he left the house that morning, but by the time he reached the square, it had disappeared. And so he stood silently in the square, his apprehension quite clear on his face and in his posture. He shot Freja hesitant glances every once in a while, unable to come up with anything to say. After the longest silence of his existence, he stared straight ahead and let out a small sigh. "You sure about this?" he asked, to no one and everyone, to Freja, or even River, or perhaps even to the universe, for causing him to forget his promise for a moment and make another one he wasn't ready to keep.
While Alex was dreading his inevitable doom, River was going through her own share of anxieties. She usually wasn't the kind of person to be nervous, but today was different! It was important! It had been a year since that very odd evening with Zhi, and although nothing had really happened since then, the two of them were paired up for the Cooking Festival. River was an oblivious person, but even she could sense the significance of something like this. Whether a normal person would find it important was debatable, but she was sure that Zhi would take it very seriously. Well, you had to admire that, and River certainly wished she could have the same sort of dedication when it came to things like that.
But most importantly, she was participating in a cooking festival. River had never cooked a thing in her life, so this whole situation was oddly puzzling. All of her life, she was used to people cooking FOR her, it had never occurred to her to properly cook anything for herself. Frozen pizza and things like cereal didn't count, of course. Alex cooked all of their meals at home, or there were at least some leftovers to munch on when he was at work. And while River's mother hadn't been an exceptional chef, she was perfectly adequate, and so she had never been motivated to learn as a child, either. She was excited by the idea of being one of those self-sufficient women who could throw together a meal, no big deal, but perhaps, on second thought, it would be better to start working on that in private. Not in a competition. She really was taking a leap into the deep end of the pool, and all she could do was hope that Zhi had learned a thing or two in Japan. Afterall, they were competing against Alex, and her competitive side wasn't ready to lose badly just yet.
And of course, the third and smallest Park had tagged along. She really didn't have much interest in cooking, so she was really only there for moral support. And secretly, she was kind of looking forward to both of her siblings failing miserably, as they probably would. She would never admit it, but it wasn't so bad when they were upset. They paid more attention to her that way.

-Eleanor Vatonage, Rune Vatonage, Lucas Grey, & Eet Alvey-Leblanc-
While Yoakim was helping out, Ellie was trying to keep track of her son. Really, this was so different than taking care of Rune when she was that age. Just like she was now, following her mother at her side, not zooming past everything... and bumping... "Oh Wilhelm..." she couldn't help but chuckle. At this point it was just normal to have him like that... but one would be lying if it wasn't amusing... adorable really. Oh how this would come back to bite her in later years. "Mom... Can Will see all right?" Ellie tilted her head at her daughter's question, wondering a bit where did that come from... but it was simply just Wilhem bumping from person to table... to person. "He's fine honey. He's just... excited. Why do you ask?" Sure, let's go with that. "Cause that's table pretty big...Was I like that?" "...A little bit..." Now that she thought on it, she was... but it was usually Kade's fault for playing with her and then loosing track of her... oh the genes. Speaking of genes, it was time to find out if her cooking was as good as her mother. Well that's why she was here today after all! Some mother/son cooking! Or rather just mother but still it's the thought that counted. Rune was along basically to spend time with her step-father/father.
By now Alanis should've internalized that Lucas was a very very dense individual. He wasn't stupid, no... just dense. So the wedding shows were on TV a lot... He just figured Alanis loved them. Same went with the magazines... What was he to know of the female mind? Hopefully he'd catch the hint before falling to her next scheme... because that would be painful... and really unnecessary. She could just as easily use the right drug to have him hallucinate weddings! But whatever made her happy. Right now the boy was just walking around the square, looking for his lovely girlfriend. Oh to be in love and oblivious to true natures~ He simply hummed a tune before finding the beautiful blond at the table and giving her a kiss on the cheek, then smiling. "Ready to win this year?" he asked. Well he still wasn't clear on what happened last year... or the year before that... or any year before that... Strange... Why could that be?
Near where a child was causing concern for the use of a drug to calm him, Eet was following John as usual, who was following Quentin, as usual. It was a very usual day for Eet. Sleep, rummage, hide. However for some reason they all decided to head out, it must've been a special occasion, but Eet wasn't sure... it was just tripping over it's clothing yet again. That thing was still small and the child hadn't grown an inch, except it's hair... it was beginning to leave Eet blind lately. Today was no exception... which is why the kid was a turtle right now, tangled in it's clothes and trying too see with it's too long hair covering it's eyes. "...Eh..." Mere complaints were vaguely heard... or simply just squeaks. What else did Eet say?

  Amanda • Hope • O'Conner ♥ Tate • Michael • O'Ballivan ♣ Wondering into the festival with Tate, Amanda scanned the crowd to see if anyone she knew was there. There were a few people she had met before, but no one in particular stood out. She did notice a variety of teams and her fingers started itching to take pictures. Smiling she kissed Tate's cheek and told him she was off to photograph like usual. Splitting up Amanda found a bench to sit on and just people watch for a little while. She was a little chilled by an occasional breeze, but her jeans and longer sleeves kept her warm. Swinging her pack around just enough so she could grab her camera from inside, and then swung it back on her back. Putting the strap around her neck Amanda took a few testing shots of random things in order to set the levels on the camera so she wouldn't have to adjust again later.♥ ♣ ♥ ♣ ♥ ♣ Wondering around the festival area hand in hand with Amanda, Tate grinned slightly thinking about how a year ago he hadn't been on this little island and now he was involved all over the dang place. Kissing the top of Amanda's head before she wondered around to photograph Tate then mosied his way over to the Judges table. Not quite sure what exactly he needed to do or anything he walked up to a older woman who looked like she may be in charge. "'Lo there ma'am, name's Tate O'Ballivan I'm here to help judge today. Can you tell me what I should be doin' to help set up or anythin'?" Tucking his hands in his jacket pockets, Tate wondered who had drafted him into food tasting.

With the kids, his seemingly comatose wife, and siblings to keep him busy, Gaston, surprisingly (and maybe thankfully to the citizens of the town) hadn't come in with an odd exotic animal following behind. Instead, his favorite and beloved daughter had come in behind him, being pulled by her three favorite pink poodles, the smallest of which sitting in her lap unwillingly after she had spent a very exciting evening infiltrating some stupid peasant's house to get her precious and totally not thrown away puppy! Oh, Floe~ How could she ever think of throwing away her favorite precious puppy? The young girl squeezed the poor poodle closer to her and looked up with shimmering eyes at the annual cooking festival – had she been here before? Oh, as if she would know! All she knew was the faceless peasants were funny looking enough to send her in fits of giggles. Giggles that had Gaston all a-smile as he heard them – ah, the sounds of an angel! Even that little snort was perfect enough to be considering godly. He smiled proud as a Sonata could be and tugged the reins on Jade the maid, urging her to pull the lavished bed on wheels forward with all of her Chinese-Peasant strength! He had seen plenty of movies with peasants of Jade's breed to know that they all had super strength – enough to be able to do this much without breaking! Ah, he really should order more maids from China – the company did such a good job in creating servants~!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Speaking of retards manly men, John and Conor had come into the festival all a chatter with eachother, which really just meant that Conor was lecturing John on yet another of his worldly wisdom that really ought to be put in a book someday so the world could know what the ******** was so awesome about Conor. “Horses are ******** insane. Seriously. They're <********> insane. They can eat a man's ******** face off if you get too close – they eat people, like, ********, like billions a year.” Yes, wisdom. The boy walking beside gave an audible gasp as he heard that bit, his eyes wide as dinner plates as he listened intently to what his father had to say. He never knew! Whenever he saw John Wayne on a horse, he always thought they were gentle, nice creatures.. Why would John ride them, then? If they were so dangerous? John was confused – an expression that was quite common on the child – when his father continuing in his speech enlightened him back into simple understanding. “..That's why John Wayne is so ******** cool and no one can be as ******** awesome as him, 'kay? Only they could ******** do it.” Ah, yes, that made sense! They were just so cool! He smiled broadly and nodded, “And you too, got it?” Another nod – oh, yes, John would! Especially if his dad believed in him like that! “Or I'll ******** kill you.” ..Plus, the threat in his tone to follow was enough of a reason as any to do it. He'd rather die by a horse than by his dad.((Will send the rest later~))

Zelynity was happy that it was time to cook again, and not so happy that Raiden thought he had better things to do that he wouldn't disclose to her rather than hang out with her and compete. The buffoon. They had done pretty well the last time, at least a lot better than she imagined they'd do. A lot lower than she had hoped... But, you couldn't win everything, or in her case... you could never win. But, that was okay. Because now she had another chance. Now she was going to win. She was going to be super awesome, all she had to do was work out the details of that awesome-ness. She sighed and looked around the area, maybe she could recruit someone. Surely someone came to the festival without a partner, she had. Was she supposed to believe that she was some kind of freak? She scoffed at the mere thought and walked around trying to find someone to convince that they belonged with someone as awesome as her, in much nicer terms of course.
__________________________________________
Mitsuke had reluctantly agreed to joining this dumb contest. She was interested in seeing Benedictus again, he made her feel so mellow and free. Maybe because of the whole nude thing, but whatever. Today she was fully dressed and actually had a pinch of an ulterior motive. She had noticed how consumed Xeiro was becoming with the whole thing when she was trying to sneak upstairs and get some alcohol out of her cabinet without anyone noticing and he was awake. He was grumbling about some chicken casserole not turning right and she then heard the sound of glass breaking, assuming that the casserole was flying across the room, she retreated back to her room. The next day, she found him exactly where she had left him cooking something else. So, when she was asked to join, she accepted in hopes to repay her brother for all of the times he took care of her. She always found it easier to sneak her flask while in public places. She could mingle into a random crowd and just drink.
__________________________________________
Xeiro wandered into the familiar area with his hands in his pockets and his hair a little messier than usual. He also had a couple days worth of beard lingering on his usual clean-shaven face that was barely noticeable with the distraction the large bags under his eyes were causing. He hadn't had any time to take care of trivial things like sleep and shaving and combing his hair. No, he had spent all the time that he wasn't at the bakery or taking care of the kids in the kitchen. He was cooking all sorts of things, trying his hand at new recipes and old recipes and random recipes he found lying around. Yes, he was determined to win this time, or at least place. He was sick of the scallywags of the town beating him out of his rightful place. He had prided himself on cooking for the better part of his life, after all. So, they could be kind enough to give a man what was his. He took a hand out of his pocket and scratched it at his eyes, trying to relieve some of the pressure that he could no longer distinguish from a headache or something in his eye.
He looked around the area, his body moving a bit slower than he wished it would. He guessed he should have had at least some sleep the night before, but it just seemed like the best idea was to continuously cook. He needed to sharpen his skills the best he could. This was his time to shine. He moseyed over to the table and signed his name on all the proper sheets and then went to find a nice place to sit down. Surely he had enough time to just close his eyes over here under this tree. Yes, that sounded like a great plan. Before he even knew it, he was snoring with his legs sprawled out in front of him and his head leaned back against the trunk of a tree.

    Now with all this commotion around town, how could the high spirit and always active Avian stay away from such a lively event. Of course he had no idea what event was going on, but it looked fun regardless. Which is why he excitedly wandered into the center of the action with a large smirk on his face. He had been on the island for awhile now, but this was the most people he had ever seen at once. It was quite exhilarating for the man. He looked from person to person with child like enthusiasm, wondering what kind of festival it was. And to his surprise, it was cooking! Avi lived on his own, so of course he cooked for himself quite often. However, he was no where near being the level of entering a competition. But... How could he not enter? It looked like so much fun! To much fun! He had to be involved. He scooped out where to sign up. His heart and mind racing at the idea of being part of the contest. What would he make? What ingredients would he be using? Was it chicken? The green haired man stopped, a deadly glare appearing on his face. So help the people who would make him use chicken to cook.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
On the other side of the festival grounds was a certain red headed woman who was searching for some entertainment. Ether hadn't done much but work ever since the whole white day thing, so she decided to take some time off and enjoy the little event in town. Of course to her, in the end, everything was boring. There were no entertaining people, happenings, or items. The place was completely stale. She sighed as she walked a bit further into the crowds. Even though she had been on the island for awhile, she hadn't really had the chance to meet people. Well, make acquaintances with new toys at least. She was kind of turned off by the idea of talking to people after that butler fiasco. She didn't want to get stuck talking to anyone with such arrogance. She hated people who thought they were better than her. She was the best. However, that didn't mean she didn't find an occasional fun person. Which she did not so long after entering the center of the main event. A green haired man with a mug that could scare someone on death row. She smiled, entertained by the man.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey fella'" Ether spoke with a soft tone as she approached Avi cautiously. Avian's cold eyes rolled to look at the woman. Though when he realized what he was doing, he switched back to his more, cheerful, personality. "Can I help you?" He spoke simply, though being him, came off as blunt and rough to the red head. She smiled simply and shifted her weight onto one leg, "You entering?" she asked curiously as she tried to lock eyes with him. The green haired man stared at her for a second, computing the situation in his head a bit, "I was thinking about it..." His voice was uncertain, which to Ether meant she could swoop in for the kill. She grinned widely and linked arms with Avi, pulling him to register, "Then we can be partners!" Her tone was even rougher than his, manlier to. And along with her surprisingly strong grip, the man couldn't help but think twice about who she was. Yet, he wasn't going to turn down a chance to enjoy the fun like this. So for now he kept his mouth shut.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The day had come. It was time for the fallen to rise back to the top. Even if it wasn't a competition he felt quite confident in, the young June King was back to claim victory over this seasons competition. He had even left early to scope out the competition. Unlike the tomato festival, there was no way he was going to lose. He even had a secret weapon! Or more of a 'flawless strategy'. Which was correcting a fatal error that messed him up last time! Which error? Ray of course. If it wasn't for Ray, June would have easily won. However, because of his useless little brother, he had to suffer the humiliation of losing in the semi-finals of the tomato festival. He wouldn't let such a disgrace happen again. He called in a special ally this time. Even though she annoyed him. A certain goody two-shoes who always caused problems. Yet, she was going to be useful this time. Why? Because girls can cook! That's what they do. June was sure that with a girl on his side, especially a goody goody one, he could easily take first. There was no one who could stop him. So with his unwavering confidence, he waited for his partner to show up by the registration table.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Now of course, if June was at the festival, then so was Ray. There was no way that the older brother could go out and have fun without the younger one in tow. Though the white haired boy was far from thrilled to be there. Even if he was there to be with June, his brother wasn't even going to be on the same team. What was the point of coming if the boy had to sit out and watch his brother have all the fun? He sighed, leaving his brother's side and wandering around the grounds. Something a young child shouldn't be doing, but Ray was used to being on his own enough. Probably one of the only things that was good coming from an older brother's negligence. Ray trotted from side to side as he looked for something to entertain him. Of course there was nothing, it was a competition after all, not the best place for entertaining kids. The boy did happen to find something to help him from boredom though. Small figure he had grown accustomed to the small amount of time hes lived on the island. He walked quickly to a familiar white haired child and grabbed onto her arm. "Rune," He called in his small voice as he focused in on the people the girl was with.

Ah! There was Walter! Finally! Why had a beautiful, wonderful and a little bit special such as himself, the great Schtolteheim Reinbach The Third, had to wait for a lowly barely human servant like Walter to reply to him? This was intolerable! Off with his head! Well, later, because he needed the man’s head for now. He wasn’t quite sure how exactly, but he knew that one needed a head in order to be able to cook. Probably because the mouth was on the head and food went in there… Not that he really cared. He was Reinbach after all! The closest thing to a God on this island after Gaston! There was no need for him to understand the trivial matters of food and eating! The only reason why he would be participating this year, the same reason as the year before that, was to grace the people of the island with his presence (a gift worth more than anything they could ever afford) and to bring ultimate joy to the judges with the food he will touch! Ah! He was too good, he was too good! People told him that quite often! Those peasants should erect him a statue! Oh! He knew! He should talk with Gaston about destroy the naked Statue of Lulu at the fountain and replace it with one of him! That was pure Genious!
”What was that, Walter? Your voice sounds like the incessant buzzing of a Spanish fly.”, he said, waving Walter away to his duty, completely forgetting he had called him over only a moment ago. Oh well, he was Reinbach, he didn’t need to explain himself. Still, somewhere in the back of his mind, he retained his butler’s suggestion of taking the cooking station in front of the judges… or was it simply because he wanted to be seen by them as he cooked? His utmost beauty, a paragon of charms, would be enough to make them give him a perfect score! That was why he needed that table! Yes! Walter had nothing to do with that. ”Quick! To the table, valiant servants!”, he ordered his four burly servants carrying him. With all the strength a slave should have, they turned on their heels and headed toward the centermost cooking station… Or at least they were going too, until they bumped into Jade, who was also carrying her own master. It was quite the trend at the Sonata’s ever since Reinbach had arrived 3 years ago. Why change the good things?
”LILIA SONATA!”, he exclaimed, with evident disdain in his voice. That girl was not worthy of being a sonata! She was a b*****d child! Oh, yes, Gaston had married that Lulu, but she wasn’t worthy of being a human! Not like his Shinju! Lulu was but a shadow of a form human family! Now she was all gross and half way catatonic. The child born out of that union had no right to call herself a Sonata, and even less to be aiming to run the family once she was older! Oh yes, he knew that look in her eyes! He knew that this was exactly what she was planning to do, the little cunning b***h! If she had a p***s, maybe he would have been more lenient toward her, but she didn’t even had that important part of anatomy! She was deforms! How could someone like her even have any right to the thone? Well, it wouldn’t be for long, he would make sure of it! His own male heir would be on top of the throne and she would be on her knees scrubbing and washing the floors like a servant wishing for her castle in the sky! ”Come, servants! Let us prepare the table!” Giving the little girl another “humph!” look, he was brought, along with his servants toward the table where the cooking would take place. ”Come on, Walter. Get Ready! Go wash that face of yours. We don’t want to scare the judges, now, do we?”[
++++++++++
Freja, who was busy staring at the big show that Reinbach was making out of himself (and Walter and Lilia), was completely lost in her thoughts and failed to hear anything Alex had said to her up until that moment. Finally hearing the male’s voice, she made a little jump on her feet and proceeded to look left and right to see just who Alex was speaking too. Was there a stranger near them? She could barely remain conscious standing next to River like that, there was no way she could keep it up if someone she didn’t know came to talk to them! Oh, the disaster that would bring to them! She was pretty sure that having your partner faint before the competition began was bad luck! After all, that Blonde Blonde who was always with the other blonde girl who was always in the final contestant always had the decency of fainting during the contest! Not before! He was quite the devoted partner, unlike her, who was about to die any moment now.
… But the fainting never came. She looked at Alex, trying to see if, by some miracle he had just now gained access to some supernatural power letting him speak with the spirits, when, unfortunately, she realized that he had been speaking to her. Oh, silly goose~ She should have known that! She smiled brightly and gave him a giant nod of approval. ”Oh yes! I am sure of that! So sure! So so so so suuuure!” No one was as sure as her when it came to that question! She had spent many hours pondering it to come to the one outmost important totally real answer! And that answer was… ”But what am I sure about?” Maybe she should have paid more important to Alex’s talks instead of focusing on the man being lifted in the air by his servants… But that was Alex’s fault! If he had been lifted in the air, surely she would have paid more attention to him! Especially if there wasn’t anyone lifting him! Then she would have paid so much attention to him! Attention like he had never receive before! So much! Ohh, the attention!
++++++++++
Bumping into thigns was the one thing that Wilhelm was good for, after all! Why would his silly sister think otherwise? All she was good for was standing still and being pretty! Ah! Much help that was! At least Wilhelm was super mega useful by showing people where obstacles were! How else would they know that there was a table in the way if he wasn’t there to show it to them by bumping into it? Talking about bumping, Wilhelm was now rushing at full speed toward a new obstacle, an obstacle that was speaking with his sister! Rune wasn’t useful enough to have friends that he, himself, didn’t have, so obviously, they had to meet in the friendliest manner ever, that is, by bumping into him. ”BADAM!”, yelled the boy as he crashed into Ray. Hey! The boy had white hair too! And so was Rune, and Mommy and Aunti Blaire! That could only mean one thing! ”Are you my new sister?”
+++++++++
A bit further from Wilhelm and his bumping into Ray, Yoakim was staring at the children, feeling a little sentiment of rage boiling into him. He wasn’t even sure as to why he was feeling like this, but he knew that seeing that boy touching his daughter was making him angry and that Wilhelm pushing him away made him both happy and proud. Was it some sort of parternal behaviour showing up a bit earlier than expected? Perhaps. After all, boys would be boys and that little t**t totally wanted to go inside Rune’s panties even if he didn’t knew about it yet and her brother defending her honour was making him proud! Not that he knew that, but it was still what was happening to him. Leaving his brother behind (actually forgetting that Keith even was there), he walked toward his wife and tapped her on the shoulder. ”Who’s that boy with Rune?”, he asked her while pointing toward Ray with his chin. Surely his wife knew who he was. She better knew if that boy wanted to remain alive for more than the next five seconds. ”You know him, Ellie?”.
++++++++++ When Yoakim left, Keith was surprised to find himself holding a table in the air by himself. Oh, of course the man wasn’t strong enough to do that, so the table only stayed there for about a second before falling on his foot. ”Gah!”, he screamed in pain as he pushed the table away. He made his way toward the closest chair, jumping on one feet and sat there to rub his hurting and trobing foot, making him miss the arrival of Conor and John. There was Eet too, but he didn’t give a damn bout it. For now, he was too busy swearing and rubbing his foot to even care about anyone. Damn his brother for just leaving him like that!
+++++++++
As Alanis little bit of Sanity was slowly slipping away and murderous images were appearing in her head, she heard the voice of her one true love calling her. Quickly reverting to the wonderfully perfect and beautiful woman that she was, she, in all elegances, gave Lucas a hug full of all her loves she had for him. In other words, she squeezed him enough to blow the air out of him and making him suffocate a little bit. ”Of course I am ready to win this year! Why? YOU THINK I CAN’T WIN? YOU THINK THAT THAT LITTLE TURNIP WHORE IS BETTER THAN ME? THAT SHE DESERVE TO WIN MORE THAN ME? WHY DON’T YOU HAVE FAITH IN ME LUCAS? WHY DON’T YOU LOVE ME? WHAT HAVE I DON’T WRONG!!!!” Alright, maybe her sanity hadn’t totally returned to her and she was still more crazy than sane. Pushing Lucas away, she threw herself dramatically over the table that was in front of her, all in tears. Sobbing and crying as the whole world was against her now! Oh, someone! Woe her! That poor woman who will never achieve her dreams of love and perfection! What could have went wrong!?

Alex glanced down at Freja as she replied, startled by the cheerfulness of her reply. She just looked so positive, especially compared to himself, as it felt like a dark storm cloud was forming over his head. He easily succumbed to negativity like this, especially when he was dreading something. Sulking, his father called it, though that always pissed him off, especially when his brother started to make fun of him for being such a baby. But Freja's seemingly eager smile meant that he couldn't be a jerk and sneak off at the last minute. Damn it. "...Nothing. Forget I said anything." And then he was back to being anxiously gloomy, but this time he was sure to keep it to himself. He really was a child when he wanted to be.
Yuri was a little belated to the cooking festival, but that could mainly be attributed to the fact that she honestly didn't know why she was going there in the first place, so she had paused to turn back several times. But here she was, wandering through the small crowd without much purpose. Why was she there? June had given her a call. It was a startling thing indeed, as no one ever called the house when her father was at home, because he was the only person who called the house at all. She was invited to participate in the cooking festival, which was not an appealing proposition at all. She liked June, or something close to like, she wasn't sure yet, the love/hate thing was too strong, but she was only twelve, and she had never really cooked before. She had tried, when she was hungry and was too impatient to wait for the housekeeper to make her something, but it had been a disaster and she hadn't gotten much further than figuring out how to turn on the stove and where the pots and pans were before the NPC got home and scolded her for causing trouble. So, despite her intense desire to have a friend, she was quite close to rejecting June's proposal. But her father was there, and had overheard, and pushed the little girl into accepting. And so here she was, a little overwhelmed by the prospect of competing in a cooking contest against a bunch of adults. That's when she spotted June, and hurried over to the shorter boy. "Hi," she greeted him, obviously displeased to be there. "Let's get this over with." She still didn't understand why she was there. What made June think she'd ever be able to help him win?

"Of course Milord." Walter said only half listening to Reinbach. Something about washing his face. Not that he didnt shower twice a day at least. Dealing with Reinbach caused stress and there was no better way to reduce stress than to takea nice bubble bath. That and the mans pompus ego might rub off onto Walter. Walter rolled his eyes at the thought as he removed his coat and put it someplace out of the way. Rolling up his sleeves, Walter removed his gloves and washed not just his face, but hands and arms as well. Might as well, he was about to touch food. So it was more for the sake to be free of germs than to follow through with Reinbachs order. Drying himself off, Walter looked to the judges as they came in. At least Tate looked promising and Gladice his favorite of little old ladies. He waited to chatch the old coots eye before smiling and giving her a 'tip of the hat' hello to her. Even though he didnt have a hat... "I wonder what the theme will be this year. Though Milord i have no doubt you'll win." Walter said, oh yes he would be doing all the work, but this was Reinbach's win. To say otherwise would have Walter's head off with the snap of the rich mans fingers. Walter's gaze turned to Gaston and the man's cute child. Wouldnt she be the envy of all the women when she grew up? Ah that reminded him, time to get a snide comment in or two. Walter turned to Reinbach with his usual dark stoical look he gave the man. " Milord, your brother's beautiful offspring remind me. When are you going to one up your brother and have some children of your own?" Walter asked a hint of a smirk gracing his lips. If he could aid in a bit of sibling rivalry to entertain himself, well.. it would just make this job all the better now wouldnt it?

..Thankfully, yet again, Benedictus had managed to convince himself to cover himself just so he could participate with the people in this grand festival of friendship and community! Although, he came wearing his own hand-knitted hemp robe – Benedetta had helped him with environmentally friendly knitting needles even! He was quite confident in how well he must have looked, which was an odd thing for an entirely blind man to feel. But, Benedetta had spent a good amount of time assuring him how lovely the lavender, salmon, and white looked on him – whatever those were. He simply knew that his sister had made it for him and, thus, it couldn't get anywhere closer to perfect. He smiled happily as he walked in, tapping his cane on the ground as he moved in search of his favorite rooster. He had come up with asking her one day as they ran into eachother (literally) and, to his delight, she had accepted – now he just had to find her! Which would honestly be so much easier if they had agreed on a place.. Oh, well, he would follow the squawks and clucks of his friend – he would surely find her with a voice like that!

Did nothing? Oh, Zhi wouldn't say that! She thought she had done a great deal over the course of the year and, if she didn't.. Well, it was hardly her fault! She didn't know what to do! Getting to the confession alone had taken years and the fact that River had actually went okay with it – or.. Or, well, Zhi was pretty sure she had. It seemed like it. That whole evening had been pretty hazy, but she swore she had heard something about River loving her and that meant they were something! It had to mean something! It was this thought process that had Zhi hiding out for the last year, not even bothering to look River in the eye during work – hell! Zhi had been more likely to rush off towards Alex as if they were close friends than to talk to River for too long! It was probably a mistake and she should have been doing something more.. pushily. Something that was more her. But, instead, she found herself spluttering and thinking things twenty-fold before carrying them out – in fact, this cooking festival being at all brought up was hard enough! She was still lost on how River had accepted it, but, at the same time, she was completely ecstatic. This was a confirmation! River did like her back or else she wouldn't have said yes! Right? Right!
So, she had every reason to walk over to her instead of stare in the shadows as she was so used to. Hey, Alanis's stalking tactics had obviously worked, what with how happy Lucas and her were being! She took in a quick breath, straightened up her posture, the probably too nice dress she wore, and her hair before she walked out into the open. She lifted her hand over her head and waved, “River!” Her tone honey-sweet, she hurried over to the woman and smiled at her – where were those nerves seconds ago? Oh, they were there.. Zhi just had learned the wonderful talent of stuffing them in some deep, dark corner for later. Now, she was happy as can be!

So, here he was. At the Cooking Festival. Probably the girliest festival ever, no matter what Xeiro had to say on it – cooking? That was woman's work! But, then again.. Jacob was gay now, so he should probably learn to accept it..? Ah, to the hells with it! He just knew that Yoakim was going to be there and, thus, he would need to get him before someone else did and ruin his chances at proving to Yoakim he could cook! He was pretty sure the guy was convinced he never touched the kitchen before in his life because of him living off of Gladice, which was true, but he didn't want him to think that. ..Then again, he probably seemed more manly if he screwed up a lot – though Yoakim did like his brother, so maybe being girly was better than he .. Was he thinking? Oh, Goddess, no, he was just standing there, knowing full well that Yoakim was hanging with his family and probably going to pair up with Ellie and not him and – “Hey, Zelynity!” He jerked his head the other way, one hand held up to his hand to someone help the sound carry over to the pink haired girl, the other waving her down as he headed her way. “You alone? Want to team up?” He asked simply the second he was in hearing range, trying to hide any tone of disappointment in his voice as he spoke.

With her husband sick in bed, Talna had had to come to the festival alone. She would have loved to stay behind and tend to her sweet darling, like she so very much adored doing – Turner was simply adorable when he was helpless like that! But, she had to refrain herself from it and, instead, go off to celebrate the Goddess in yet another of the town's festivities. Not to mention, she had to see Gladice at least some times! She was so busy with her children to really do much of the friendly gatherings at the town square anymore, so she had to settle with gossiping during times like this. She smiled warmly at the square as she entered it, looking around to see if she saw any of those she-devils (Bela) around, but it didn't look like any of those type had arrived.. yet. She would find them sooner or later, but, for now, she had to go great her distant relative. She adjusted the basket on her arm of her secret ingredients and went off to talk to the sweet old woman on Alex's homosexuality and potential women that would suite the young, sadly single men in town.

-Eleanor Vatonage, Rune Vatonage, Lucas Grey, & Eet Alvey-Leblanc-
While debating her brother's i.q., well in more specific terms since they were really just talking. But her mother's attention had been diverted by something, Rune wasn't sure of what, for she had something diverting her own. "Hm?" the girl had mumbled at the touch before meeting with Ray's eyes. An instant smile came to the girl at the sight of her friend. Well she considered him her friend anyways. "Ray~" Rune's voice was louder than his, not by much, but it was pretty happy right now. Her gaze followed his for a moment, only to meet her mother and step-father's own. "My parents" she nodded before turning back to meet his. "You gonna cook? Mom's cooking with my brother Will." So the girl had a tendency to ask too many questions... Let's just hope it made her cute. But for now one question would do. One that she pondered on... Could Will cook? ...Interesting conundrum. Speaking of Will, her questions would not be answered because of that child's attack on her friend. "Will!" scolded the girl, instantly reaching to grab her brother and pull him back, or off from Ray. "Don't do that!"
Eleanor had forgotten of the girl for a moment as she pondered what to cook for this festival... and some other random yells and noises that caught her attention. It was back on her kids soon enough catching Will's attack on the other... at least before Yoakim came over. "Hey-" Well she didn't actually have a chance to say something before he was asking about the boy. "Oh dear... That's Ray. Rune and him are friends, isn't that nice?" she answered, moving a hand to her chin in thought. Poor kid, being attacked by the other like that. Boys would be boys right? She was sure that's what her husband would say, and Rune seemed to be handling it all right by going over the kid. Ray... Ellie had seen him a few times when she went to pick Rune up from school, and Blaire had told her about him whenever she took the girl out and saw him.
Oh love would be the death of him~ Probably right now if Alanis didn't let go of him. He knew things weren't good. Why, when the world started to turn black, and the air seemed to be just a distant memory, well things must be bad for you. Lucas had barely managed to fix his spine and gather some breath, merely smiling along with it. Well it was love that gave him all of these odd experiences! Normal people would just run away, but not him. For he was in love as well! The smile dropped however, at the woman's little insane bit. It didn't stress him out or anything, not like before. Instead he simply looked at her, of course after stumbling not to fall, and chuckled nervously. "...No honey. It's not... Um... I do... Er...I love you?"
Meanwhile Eet had finally managed to roll off on its stomach... now it pondered if the Town Square's tiles/bricks had a good taste or not...

 While everyone no the festival ground was busy bringing in the apocalypse, Gladice had something better to do, that is, to call the start of the festival. She announced that it was starting on the microphone and waited a few seconds, so that everyone would go to their stations, and then kept going. She talked about how the festival was an impotant tradition to the island and that she wished that the best cooke win and all that boring stuff that bored even herself. Then, finally, she walked toward the table of ingrediants. ”This year, the theme will be… MEDITERANE-Uh?”, she was about to say that it was Mediterranean cuisine, and reveal a table full of ingrediants suited for it, like lemons, olives, fish, pork and all those things you would in find in that style of cooking, however, what she reaveal while pulling on the big tablecloths that kept everything hidden was far from being what she had prepared. All the ingredients were changed! Sure, she would still find most of what she was suppose to find, but in lesser quantity and instead were things like… pictures of Gaston. ”What in the name of Sanity is this?”, she called toward the judge table, directing her rage toward Gaston and not Tate. Jade came running toward her and after a good five minute of Arguments, the old woman left out a sigh of exasperation and shooed Jade away. ”Fine… It seems like this year’s theme is Gaston. Do what you can with that.”

    It had been around fifteen minutes from when June had arrived to when his partner did. He spent the time staring down the people wandering around the festival grounds. It was hard to judge who was a good cook and who wasn't. It's not like you could stereo type that. Well, the boy could, that's why he picked a female partner. One who he could tell was not happy to be there. He stared at her with an eye brow raised, "Aren't we excited?" A bit rude right off the back, but what else would you expect from the blonde terror? Although the mean streak didn't last long this time. Actually, it did not even really begin. For some reason June's ill-temper had been somewhat... Toned down recently. The boy's eyes scanned over Yuri one more time before he turned his head back to the crowd. "Whatever, you can pout as much as you want," His perma-scowl now vanished and a more serene look, much like Ray's took over his face. That's right, there was no reason to get upset. He had to keep focused. Last time's defeat was because he lost his cool. If he just kept level headed... He turned back to the girl with an intense yet serene look, "As long as we win that is." Yuri could complain all she wanted later, the competition came first.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
All the way on the other side of the crowd, Ray was also dealing with a bit of disapproval. Or dislike. Or something. The six year old couldn't actually tell what it is he was feeling, but he could tell someone was looking at him, and not in the friendly way. He could tell, because that was the way June looked at him always. But not only was the boy bothered by a hostile aura, he was being physically assaulted as well. He whimpered a bit as held back a cry with a sniffle. As a boy of smarts over brawn he was never good with physical altercations. And of course this put him in an even more defensive mood. Ray felt like he was sinking as he moved a bit closer to Rune. He didn't like unpleasant feelings. His eyes widened up at the two adults and back at the other white hair boy. Rune's family obviously. "Hello," He let slip from his lips as he averted his gaze. Somehow this was worst than his brother's attacks. The boy turned back to his friend, trembling a bit but still trying to maintain a conversation. "June's cooking... I... Don't know if I can..." He spoke in small bits, but tried to say loud enough to understand. He wasn't very outspoken to begin with, so being in a stressful situation made it even worse.

 Talna was rather happy to be doing this festival alone, to be honest with herself. It sounded horrible, didn't it? That she would rather go to a festival without her beloved beside her.. But, Turner, though handsome and a hard worker, wasn't the best in the kitchen. It was part of what made their relationship work so well! She could do all of her utterly perfect housework alone without someone to mess it up and he would have three wonderful meals a day and a pretty face to see every day! Plus, she was sure he appreciated the little things she did to help him around the farm.. So, it wasn't so bad of her, was it? She couldn't agree more with that thought and, as she thought over the theme, she decided that she would enjoy this – not because Turner wasn't there, but because she could be as original as she wanted to be! Nothing predictable with this station this year! Oh, yes, confidence had overflown her as she grabbed a sac of turnips and a few other ingredients~ She cleaned, peeled, sliced, and fried up the turnips as, on a separate pan she had prepared were a few slices of bacon already sizzling away~ Add in some onions, a few dashes of pepper, a spoonful of flavor booster lard and Talna was well on her way with a classic southern fried cabbage turnip recipe! Her ma would be proud~! She was already thinking of how to shape it towards the theme - Gaston. Now, how could she present it to be Gaston..?
