Arielle was happy to see Maria enter the scene with food, saving Dimitri the trouble of going out and buying some for himself and Kedrick. She waved warmly at her best friend as she entered after Dimitri made room for her to enter.

"Hey there Kedrick," Maria said with a cheerful wave, her moment of shyness disappearing around Dimitri. She giggled and didn't even say anything to Dimitri when he already took his share of his food. "Don't worry Kedrick," Maria said as she walked over to him, giving him his container of food and plastic utensils, "I made sure you got some too." She walked back over to Dimitri and handed him his utensils with a teasing smirk, "Unless you plan on digging into breakfast like an animal, here's a plastic fork and knife for ya."

Arielle took a deep breath and smelled the heavenly scent that was coming from the containers as the boys opened them. When she recognized the smell, she looked over at Maria with a small smile. "I see you got some food from my grandparents," she said before adding, "How... How are they doing?"

Maria nodded and smiled at Arielle, going over to mess up her hair as much as she could. "They're doing fine. Relieve that you're fine. They said they'll be coming over in a bit. So, try and look good." The last part was joked out by Maria and both girls just giggled.

Arielle was glad that her grandparents were doing alright. They no longer had to worry about Jonesy anymore, but she still wished that they didn't have to see her in the condition she was in now.

Kedrick Suwa

Kedrick smiled thankfully at Maria when she handed him his food and plastic utensils. "Thanks," He said, reaching down and pulling open the lid to the plastic container, it had been carefully sealed so that the heat had been trapped in. "Is this?" He asked with a soft laugh of disbelief, looking down at it's contents. "Rice and roast beef?" Kedrick stared in disbelieving, but what his eyes didn't believe, his nose confirmed.

Dimitri, curious now to see what was in his package, slid down so he was sitting against the wall, knees drawn up to his chest. He pried open his container and was greeted by the smell of mashed potatoes and some kind of meat, probably pork chops. A grin spread across his face as he reach up, taking the utensils from Maria. "Nah, I think I'll opt for the knife and fork." He said, still smirking and he cut off a piece of the pork chop.

As Kedrick began to cut his meat, he suddenly realized just how ravenous he was. After all, he hadn't had a bit to eat since breakfast the past morning. There had been no time for lunch, and after everything that had happened, dinner was the last thing on his mind. Now that he had slept through breakfast, his stomach was complaining about Kedrick's negligence. He began wolfing down his food, only occasionally pausing to actually taste what he was eating.

Dimitri looked up, frowning at his friend who stood with his back to the wall. "easy there!" He called over to him. "Don't eat so fast, you'll rupture you stomach." He knew that it was a gross word picture, but Kedrick had to slow down. Dimitri didn't need to handle a stomach cramp as well.

Kedrick paused with an apologetic smile. Even after what he had eaten so far his stomach still ached with hunger. "Yeah, sorry." He apologized meekly.

Maria smiled and waved off Kedrick's thank you. "There's no reason to thank me, I'm just the messenger here bringing you food. You know all thanks go to Arielle's grandparents."

Soon the boys began to dig into their meals, Kedrick doing more of the definition of the word than Dimitri. Arielle couldn't blame him, since they rarely had anything to eat since their breakfast sandwich the other day. She brought her breakfast back to her and continued eating. The smell of her grandparents cooking teased her taste buds, but she knew she had to follow the doctor’s orders.

Both she and Maria looked up when Dimitri had asked Kedrick to slow down his eating or he would get a stomach ache. They both giggled lightly as Arielle continued eating the rest of the breakfast given to her by the nurse. Maria still sat on the edge of Arielle’s bed, relaxing and stealing a few glances of Dimitri, looking away before he had time to notice. They were quick and subtle glances, but her actions were still confusing her. Maria looked back at Arielle when she noticed that she had paused from eating, her spoon resting in her fingers thoughtfully.

"Ari, is there something wrong?" Maria asked somewhat worriedly.

"This may be the first time that Dimitri has ever had anything my grandparents cooked," Arielle commented absentmindedly.

Maria made this surprised, shocked look on her face like the thought of someone never trying Arielle's grandparents cooking was just a horror story itself. She had thought that it was more serious than that, even though it was a shocking thing to know. She stood up and walked over to Dimitri, messing with his hair. "You poor child," she said in a playful sorrowful tone, "You haven't even LIVED until you had Arielle's grandparents' cooking. It's like a whole new world itself."

Arielle just giggled at how goofy Maria was acting. She did nod in agreement with what Maria said though. Then again, she was used to eating their food so she could kind of say her taste buds were spoiled about certain things.

Kedrick Suwa

Dimitri looked up, rather surprised when Maria started messing with his hair. Kedrick snorted softly with laughter. Dimitri cracked a smile, looking up at Maria. "Well, I'm trying it now, and all I can say is...." He paused thoughtfully, tapping his chin with his index finger. "Yum." He finished with a smirk, batting at her hand. "Now let me finish this heavenly meal lest I perish."

Kedrick couldn't help but laugh again, Dimitri over-dramatized comment reminding him of the games he and Arielle frequently played. Pretending to be lords and ladies, or fairy tale characters. He glanced back down, scooping out the last bit of rice with his plastic spoon and popping it into his mouth, setting the dish aside.

"All done?" Dimitri asked. "You ate so fast that I've hardly started." He gestured down to his only half empty dish. Kedrick smiled apologetically. "If you get indigestion don't come running to me." Dimitri said in mock-disgust.

I never really realized how nice Dimitri's smile is, Maria thought distractedly, grinning back at him. She had a happy, satisfied, grin as Dimitri gave a good review of Arielle's grandparent's cooking. She giggled and moved her hand away after one more ruffle, doing a playful bow. "As you wish, sir Dimitri."

Arielle giggled herself, realizing that she and Kedrick were not the only ones who acted that goofy. She was surprised that Maria didn't act all drill sergeant on him like she would do for her.

The girls didn't say anything, just listening to Dimitri and Kedrick talk, both giggling at Dimitri's last statement. Maria sauntered over to Arielle's bed and sat on the edge, a look on her face that warned Arielle that she was ready to talk about one of her boy stories again.

"Who is it this time?" Arielle asked with a small smile, feeling glad that things finally seemed to be returning back to normal.

Maria giggled and waved it off like it was nothing, once again. "Oh, just some guy. He's one of the running backs on the football team. Tall, broad, golden hair and GORGEOUS."

Arielle rolled her eyes but could only smile lightly. Maria was always this excited when it came to talking about the jocks. "Oh! You mean Matthias Reyne. He's the guy in our...ummm...Bio class, right?"

Maria nodded with a girlish giggle, already feeling giddy but at the same time, not feeling right about it inside. Which she found very strange.

Kedrick Suwa

Dimitri half listened to the girls conversation as he continued to work on his pork chop. Dimitri quite suddenly found the he had lost his appetite at the mention of this Matthias what's-his-face. He felt a cold splash of jealousy, like someone had poured icy water down into his heart. He grimaced and set down the container of food, still with a few bite of pork chops and a spoonful or two of mashed potatoes in the bottom.

Kedrick looked up, catching the very, very unusual expression on Dimitri's face. "What's the matter?" Kedrick asked with a smile. "Didn't take your own advice? Stomach ache?"

Dimitri looked up at him with a dry smirk. "Yeah, something like that." He said said. Frankly, Dimitri wasn't quite sure what was wrong with him. At first, he though it may have been because of what Maria had said, but he very quickly dismissed that thought. Dimitri had dated every girl in the school that was remotely his age, Some had gone terribly and he had ended up with a sore nose, others had gone so well that Dimitri got uncomfortable and jumped straight to the break up stage. He had never been jealous before, he had never been that serious. The first time he had even experienced jealousy was the night of the harvest dance, and this, this felt the same way. 'That's impossible.' Dimitri thought shortly, rejecting the idea completely. 'She's...Maria that is...she's a good girl, but we wouldn't be good for each other...I wouldn't be good for her...I mean, what relationship really needs a guy like me in it?

Both girls were hardly aware of Dimitri's change of attitude until Kedrick mentioned something. Arielle also seemed like he had been eating his food too fast, but he wasn't eating it as ravenously as Kedrick had. She wondered if it had something to do with what Maria said about Matthias, especially since he seemed fine before Maria mentioned him. Trying not to be too distracted, she glanced back at Maria who looked worriedly at Dimitri before turning back to face Arielle with a small sigh. "So, you aren't going to continue your story?"

"S-Sorry," Maria replied, seeming lost for a bit before regaining her composure. She still couldn't explain why talking about Matthias made her feel wrong, like she was hurting someone in the room. Had it been a week ago and she would have already told Arielle her plan to make Matthias hers, but now, that didn't seem like the case. "Well, hmmm. I told you I had that date with him, the night where you called me about...him..."

Arielle nodded slowly, wanting her friend to continue with the story.

"Well, I did, and...," Maria continued, pausing to remember the actual date. In all honesty, it hadn't gone too badly but it certainly wasn't a match made in heaven either. "It could've been better. My papá taught me on how a gentleman was supposed to treat a lady. You know, pulling out chairs, opening the door for her, stuff like that. Well, in the first time that I've date a guy, and that has probably been five dates, Matthias was just horrible."

"But the way you've been going on about him in school," Arielle said with a teasing smirk.

Maria nodded and sighed, "He just kept talking about himself and was completely distant. He ignored me when I tried to talk or cut me off and he even got me to pay dinner. Oh, and we went to a diner for dinner. I'm not saying that we should go to a five star restaurant, but at least try and find a nice place for a dinner date. And then, we went to a movie I had no interest in and it was a complete bore the entire time."

"And this is why I tell you that the guys on sports teams aren't worth it," Arielle said in somewhat of a motherly tone, "Or mainly, the boys who are more popular. Plus, Matthias is such an airhead anyway."

Maria sighed again and shrugged her shoulders. "A girl can dream, no?" Besides, Maria added in her thoughts, I think I may be falling for someone else...

Arielle just smiled at her and then paused when she remembered something. It was Monday that day and they were supposed to have school and go out to eat that evening. However, they were all here, making sure she was alright. "I'm going to have so much homework to catch up with when we get back," Arielle said with a groan, already not liking the idea.

(Okay, somehow I accidentally quoted myself twice, first time I have no idea how, second time trying to say I made a mistake and yeah, you get the point. Sorry about that >~<)

Kedrick Suwa

Dimitri listened with his curiosity reaching a peek as Maria told Arielle all about her date with this guy Matthias. He sounded like a jerk. 'or a jock...' Dimitri though briefly. 'it doesn't really matter either way, he still shouldn't have treated her like that...' He paused a moment, thinking about that before adding to himself. 'you're not a person Dimitri you're a rat. A nasty, hypocritical little rat.' Dimitri sighed softly. 'at least you pay attention when a girl talks...' Maria didn't seem to fond of the sportsy kind of guy, which was good because you couldn't pay Dimitri enough to play most sports. There was too much physical contact for his tastes, especially in football. That was at least one thing he had going for him.

Kedrick smiled when Arielle mentioned her home work. "Well...." He said, still smiling. "if we went to the same school, I'd offer to bring you your homework, but that'll have to fall to Maria. The best I can do is promise to help you study." He glanced briefly over at Dimitri who seemed to be lost in though, a contemplative frown between his brow. He smiled, calling over to him. "Yo! Earth to planet Dimitri." Kedrick said with a small smile.

Dimitri startled out of his thoughts. "Yeah yeah What?" He said, looking up sharply. "What'cha thinking about lover boy?" He asked, choosing to once again adopt an old nick name that had driven Dimitri mad during the period of time that he had stayed with Kedrick. Dimitri scowled in disgust. "None of your business." He said, unable to keep a completely straight face. Kedrick crossed the room in a few quick steps, and crouched down at eye level with Dimitri. "That make it my business then doesn't it?" He asked with a pleasant smile.

Maria nodded with a small smile. "As much as homework is a pain in the butt to me, I'll make sure to bring yours home and help you out with whatever you need help with. Especially since we're in about more than half of the same classes this year."

"Just like every year," Arielle said with another light giggle, grateful to have Maria and Kedrick. "And thanks you guys. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Maria wanted to comment, saying that Arielle would probably "bleed and cry", as one of her cousins would say to her when they did something she wasn't expecting. Then, after considering what had just happened with her, how close they had been to losing her, Maria knew that it was definitely one of the most inappropriate comments that could have been made at that moment. True, she had used it on Arielle before, but she didn't want to bring back any uncomfortable feelings.

Maria noticed when Kedrick had called Dimitri lover boy and had her attention caught by them. She remembered there was a time when Dimitri had had an interest in Arielle, but she could tell that it was no longer apparent since Arielle and Kedrick were now happily a pair. Had she known that it was just a nickname then she wouldn't have thought too much about it. However, since she didn't have knowledge, she thought that Kedrick meant that Dimitri was thinking about a girl he liked. And for some strange reason, a reason that Maria couldn't explain, she began to feel some bit of jealousy for a girl she never met. She tried to ignore what she was feeling inside, and what they boys were talking about. Fine then, Maria thought glumly, Forget you too...

Arielle noticed the change in Maria's facial expression and wondered what was wrong with her change of attitude. Could it have been the talk about homework or her not so great date with Matthias. Before she could even ask her best friend something, Maria had this look on her face, a look that Arielle knew as her plotting face.

"You know, Arielle," Maria said slowly, loud enough for the boys to hear, "I think I may try and go out with that one guy who asked me out not too long ago. I believe his name was...Clayton, if memory serves me right."

Arielle just looked at Maria in surprise and only shook her head. "I'm pretty sure his name was actually Keon, Maria. Plus, I thought his constant talk about ancient cities bored you to death, Maria?"

Maria shrugged her shoulders only giving her a small smile, standing up and pulling her phone out. "If you excuse me everyone, I have a date to arrange. I'll be back in a bit." She cheerfully waved and had a bright smile on like nothing was wrong.

Arielle sighed and was about to comment on Maria when her nurse came in to check on her again and take her breakfast. Luckily for her, she would be able to leave the hospital before the next day. Perfect, Arielle thought, I can't wait to go back home...

Kedrick Suwa

((I sat here while reading your post and thought, 'ouch. This is going to get ugly.' XD ))

"So? What or who is it?" Kedrick pressed, still smiling at his friend. Dimitri looked up at Kedrick, actually, more like past Kedrick and over at Maria. 'two?!?' He thought once again feeling jealous. 'Alright, Who cares about her? Certainly not me...'

He glanced up again as Maria stood to leave the room, feeling spiteful, He answered Kedrick quickly before Maria left the room. "Prim." He said simply. "The girl from biology?" Kedrick asked looking a little bit surprised but not putting it past Dimitri. Prim may not strike him as Dimitri's kind of girl, she was quiet, intellectual and shy, but that had never stopped him before.

Dimitri nodded "Yup, that's her." He said with a smirk, his gaze flickering up to see if Maria was still there. "You ought to see the way she looks in the summer uniforms, you know, the ones with the-" "I get the picture." Kedrick cut in, rocking back on his heels, envisioning the schools summer uniform with it's neck tie and short plaid skirts.

Maria was in fact able to hear about the girl that Dimitri had an interest in. She stopped walking, her back facing him but had to move out of the way when Arielle's nurse came in. She couldn't even properly think about the good news that her best friend would be leaving soon. No, she was more concerned about this Prim girl. She felt like she was being slapped in the face as Dimitri had praised the girl like she was some kind of goddess.

She glanced down at Dimitri, a cold look in her eyes. Maria had never known such emotions as the one she was feeling, but it sickened her as well as it interested her. If he wants to play that game, then fine. See if I care, Maria thought, a light frown on her face, only quick enough for Dimitri to see before muttering a couple of unkind things about Dimitri in Spanish and walking out of the room, slamming Arielle's door. Since she was in the mood to rant and complain about Dimitri, she knew she couldn't do it right outside the room. So she left to the front of the hospital.

Maria did call Keon, since he had slipped her his number in her locker. When she asked if he wanted to hang out sometime with her for fun, Keon readily agreed to come and join her. In fact, to Maria's surprise, he was ready to meet up with her at that moment. Maria kindly rejected him, knowing that she couldn't just leave Arielle at that moment, but that tomorrow after school would work perfectly for her. When the call was finished, she took a deep breath and started going on a rage about Dimitri in quick Spanish, her words flowing right into the next, being hard for anyone to understand.

Arielle felt worried about Maria and wished she wasn't stuck in the bed with all her needles and IVs. Something had changed Maria's attitude and she knew that homework wasn't the culprit, especially since Maria would whine and try and bargain her way out of it. And Arielle knew for a fact that Matthias had nothing to do with this at all. She had been paying close attention to Dimitri and Kedrick's conversation and all at once, some part of her knew that it had to do with Dimitri's interest in Prim, a girl that even Kedrick seemed surprised that Dimitri seemed to like.

Could it be..., Arielle thought slowly, That... That Maria likes Dimitri and that she's... Jealous? It would make sense but... I've never seen her jealous before. If only I could move around now...

Arielle thanked her nurse politely before the young woman left. She was definitely not expecting a day like this to happen. She thought that things would be fine, that her friends would be goofing around. Instead, she had two friends who were mad at about something, Maria being jealous surprisingly, and she couldn't do anything about it. All she could do was sigh and lie down in her bed, turning to her side so that her back was facing the boys. She had almost forgotten about the pain in her shoulder and stomach, but at that moment, it really wasn't that important.

(Oh, it is. Those two are going to be a fun challenge)

Kedrick Suwa

Shortly after Maria stepped out, Dimitri too stood u. He felt like his head was going to explode, he was confused, and angry, and jealous all at the same time and he knew it would be ugly if he stayed trapped in the little white hospital room. "I'll be right back..." He muttered under his breath. "Need some air..."

Kedrick looked up in confusion as Dimitri announced that he needed to leave. "Yeah, okay...uh...come on back soon okay?" He prompted, just as insurance in case Dimitri was thinking something stupid like storming out and sulking for the rest of the day. He heard his friends non-committal grunt before he stepped out of the room. Kedrick walked over and sat down on the edge of Arielle's bed, on the side she was facing. "Do you think we missed something?" He asked uncomfortably. That much was obvious. Something that Arielle and Kedrick hadn't caught had gone one between Maria and Dimitri.

Dimitri meanwhile had carefully avoided the front of the hospital or the parking lot, knowing that that was exactly where Maria would have gone. No, Instead, Dimitri found his way to the hospital's flat roof. He had found a set of stairs that had taken him up to a door. When he had opened it he had seen a flat stretch of smooth roof top with a low wall around the edge to keep anyone from accidentally falling off. With a sigh Dimitri walked over to the edge, resting his elbows on the wall. Now he didn't have to keep what he was feeling restricted to his mind, and something felt good about saying it out loud. "This is her fault." He said...well, It wasn't much, but it was a start. "She...she started it, It wasn't my idea!" He exclaimed angrily, also aware of how childish this sounded. Dimitri looked down, able to see Maria in the parking lot below like a tiny dot. Broken snatched of faint Spanish drifted up to him. Dimitri strained his ears, trying to understand what she was saying, but he wasn't a Spanish expert, actually, He didn't even know the language. Dimitri scowled in disgust. "What's the matter with you Dimitri? You don't ever like her!" He demanded angrily. "Do you..." he asked suddenly, and then shook his head to clear away the rough thought. "No! No no no! I do not like her, she's...she's loud, and inconsiderate, and flirty, and airheaded, and pretty, and smart, and..." He paused...wait. How had that happened? He had just been scraping his mind for another bad quality to blow way out of proportion when the word 'pretty' and 'smart' had tumbled from his lips. He stared down at his feet, turning around so he was leaning backwards against the wall, a thoughtful expression on his face. 'I couldn't really like her could I? I mean, what kind of a way is this to start a relationship....It's not, not really...not if you count the Harvest dance...or when we talked in the hallway last night...not, that one doesn't count.' he thought with a scowl. that was just a few exchanged words and a kiss of the forehead....' come to think of it though, the memory of that kiss on the forehead made his stomach flip not altogether uncomfortably. He sighed. "What's the matter with you Dimitri? Loosing your touch?...This is the second girl you've really liked that's slipping though your fingers and you're standing here like and idiot and not doing anything about it!" With a resigned sigh, Dimitri made his way off the roof and down through the innumerable floors of the hospital. Soon he found himself standing in the door way, facing a very angry Maria and wondering what in the world he had ever been thinking.

Arielle sat up when Kedrick came over to her and sat on the edge of the bed. She sighed and shrugged her shoulders lightly, making a face when she felt the pain in her shoulder again. "I feel like we did, Kedrick," Arielle responded, still feeling worried for her two friends, "But... I have a hunch, but I'm not even sure that it could be right. Maria was fine until you called Dimitri lover boy, and then...everything just turned sour. So, in some way, Maria is jealous of Prim, a girl neither of us have met since we go to different schools. Then again, Maria could just still be tired and stuff... I'm honestly not sure." All I hope is that everything will be alright...

"No boy has ever infuriated me like he has!" Maria exclaimed in Spanish. She had replayed the last couple of minutes in her head. She tried to see if there was any way that she was just looking at it the wrong way. Anyway that she possibly could've made a mistake and was getting worked up over nothing. Impossible..., Maria thought stubbornly, Kedrick wouldn't have called Dimitri lover boy if he was thinking about some girl... Or that Prim girl for that matter...

"Why do I care anyway?" Maria continued in Spanish, calming down just a bit, "I mean... I hardly know him at all and why would I think he like me? I'm not saying that I'm not good enough but..." She paused again and frowned lightly before continuing speaking aloud her thoughts, her Spanish not as quick as before. "I mean, I bet he has all the girls falling over him. And I bet he enjoys that kind of attention anyway. He went from liking Arielle to finding some other girl in just a matter of weeks.... But why do I care? What could there ever be between us? What if he was trying to rope me in with that kiss on the forehead... To trick me..."

She sighed, running her fingers through her dark chestnut brown hair that fell a little bit past her shoulders. Now she was completely confused with what she was feeling. Maybe she was falling for Dimitri. It would make sense with her actions, right? But why would she start falling for him now? Why not at the Harvest Dance when she was dancing with him? And did she really have to retaliate the way she did, going on a date with a guy that in all honesty she really didn't have any interest in. She lightly touched her forehead and sighed, a faint smile touching her lips. So gentle...

Suddenly, Maria felt like she was being watched. She turned slowly and noticed that Dimitri was standing in the doorway. She stared at him in surprise and quickly removed her hand from her forehead, blushing lightly in embarrassment. With another sigh, she only stared at him, ignoring the crazy thumping that was going on in her heart. "What brings you out here, Dimitri?"

When she asked him the question, she didn't realize that she had asked him in Spanish. After the words had left her mouth, she sighed again, her cheeks flushing in embarrassment. Her mind had been to busy sputtering out Spanish words for her to return back to English quickly. With nervous laughter, she asked Dimitri the same question, not looking him in the eye but her heart still beating like crazy.
