Regina collapsed under Morgan's weight. She let out a yelp of surprise and sat there. In a haze of confusion and curiosity, she shook herself a bit and pulled herself and Morgan through the shadows back to the medical wing for his treatment.

~It figures. Me and Penny are the mothers of this place... that'll never change, and it doesn't bother me. But I wonder...~ she thought, transporting back through the shadows to the point at which everyone was gathered. ~What has professor Xavier been hiding from us...? I know that there is another branch, and less savory as Pietro put it but...~

She tugged on Penny's sleeve. "Can I talk to you? And maybe the teacher here about something I just came across... Please?"

Gen pulled her head back in the door of the office. She had caught the tail end of the seemingly one sided conversation between Regina and the speed demon. Another side? Another... view of the way life was as a mutant? It kinda sounded like something she should check out. Looking over at the stirring people that had just moments ago been unconcious, she looked to Alanna. She was her new roommate. A new chance at life. Hell, maybe even a real friendship. She'd never had that before... For now, she'd stay at the mansion and see just what happened and what people had to say about their life as mutants. Later, she'd go see what this guy was talking about.

Dinner was served promptly by Elena, and everyone dug in. There were many local delicacies on the table, none of which Jacen had tried in nearly thirteen years. Slowly, he dug into the food, slightly wary of the taste, but once he took a bite, he was sold. As he ate, the family around him carried on a conversation in Russian. He wanted to join in, slightly, but the idea of a translator wasn't high up on his list. Half-heartedly ignoring his hosts, he kept on eating. It felt like days since he had a good meal like this, and he wasn't going to pass up this opportunity.

Supper wound down without anyone saying a word to Jacen. It was odd. Maybe they were just silent eaters. He remembered when he'd eat dinner with his family....

"They aren't my family," he muttered to himself as he piled up his dishes and took them to the kitchen area.

"What are you doing?!?!," Elena yelled at Jacen.

"....Um....clearing my dishes from the table?"

"You are a GUEST here," she stated matter-of-factly, "Sit down, I'll take care of it all."

"I'd much rather stand, actually," Jacen said as he leaned up against the low countertop. He liked this place. It was small. Quaint, even. Very much a home. Elena looked flustered at Jacen's stubbornness as she left only to return with a full load of dishes.

"Where are the rest of your family?," he asked as she started to clean the dishes.

"Father has to work early in the morning, and Grigory has school. They are going to be going to sleep soon."

"Makes sense," he replied before falling silent for a moment. "So....if this isn't too much prying....may I ask what happened to your mother?"

Elena stopped washing dishes abruptly before shaking her head and continuing on. "She....was killed in an accident five years ago."

Jacen felt the air getting heavy so to speak. "The loss of a parent....is an exceptionally hard experience to get through. I know from experience."
Elena looked at him with a twinge of sadness in her eyes. "My....birth mother, and my adoptive parents all passed away before I was thirteen."

The atmosphere had definitely gotten alot less happy, and as much as Jacen would have loved to let this linger on, he noted it was best to divert conversation to another topic.

"Sorry bout all that," he said quietly, "I must say, that you carry yourself differently than the rest of your family. May I ask the reason?"

Elena kept washing the dishes as she spoke. "After mother died, I was only fifteen myself. I was flourishing in school, though things here were becoming more and more difficult. I did what I could around here, but when I was seventeen, my father told me that he wanted me to get out of this village. He knew I could do better than this. Than him. He was born in this village, and he knows he's probably going to die in this village. So, he sent me to the university in Moscow. I graduated in three years there, and gotten a good degree, but I still managed to wind up back at the village. Sometimes I wish I would have never come back here...."

"I can understand that in a way, but it looks like your family needs you here."

"That...is definitely the truth. I'm surprised they survived while I was away those years," she said as Jacen moved out of her way.

He laughed quietly for a second before speaking back up again. "Elena...tell me why exactly you guys took me in?"

"You were hurt and you needed assistance."

"Don't you know.....?"

Elena looked at him and smiled. "Yes, I know you're a mutant. It would only explain why you were dressed in that silly get-up. And it would explain why you were fighting with that other man and only managed to get the injuries that you did."

"And you have no problem stowing a mutant away in your house?"

"Jacen," she said, "You're a person. Just like all of us. Yes, you may have a few certain advantages over the rest of us, but that doesn't mean that you can't be treated normally."

Jacen pondered what she had said. For the better part of three years, he was told, preached at, hammered into his head, that humans were scared cattle waiting for someone to lead them into a new age. They were meant to be shown the power and the fury of the mutant race. But these people....they were so kind-hearted that it was sending a conflict in his subconscious. As he sat there, Jacen could hear something outside. It was a loud clamoring that was growing closer and closer.

"........Elena?," Jacen asked quizzically while she finished putting the dishes away, "Are you expecting company?"

{That doesn't sound good. Angry, torch-and-pitchfork mob, I suppose?}
PostPosted: Thu May 05, 2005 7:33 pm

OOC: There always has to be an angry torch bearing mob in some X-Men story smile j/k PIETRO FOR CLASS PRESIDENT .... how'd that get there.

IC:

"Crap," Penny said as Regina pulled Penny to where Morgan was, "F**K, F**K, F***KITY, F**K." She hit the comm and sent for the Infirmary. McCoy and one of the nurses was there immediately to take care of Morgan. The X-Men swat team was also down on their behinds reallly quick trying to peice what was going on together.

Penny and Regina leaned against the wall as Logan and Jean Grey did their X-Men thing. Both were asked to remain there. Mr. Porter came in and out of the room, talked with Logan a few times.

"What did you find, Reg?" Penny whispered and stared at Jean Grey with a 'try to get into my head woman' look on her face.

"You've seen Pietro around school right?" Regina asked, keeping her voice low. She liked pietro, he was a nice guy under normal circumstances. "He was here. HE was causing all the problems... under Magneto's influence. Evidently magneto is pissed off that Xavier won't let him talk to the students here and give his view of the way mutants live."

She paused as Jean Grey walked past them in order to go inform the students that everything was okay. "I'm not sure what's going to happen... it's bizarre. At least to me."

OOC: I think it should be noted that most of the "newer" X-Men won't know who Magneto is. Just like in the show, where the X-Men weren't told about Magneto until he kidnapped them all ^^

ooc: granted, but penny and regina have been there the longest. so i figured they would both know, now if we were to have talked to someone else i'd figure they wouldn't know him. ^^

Jamie woke up slowly, and suddenly got very pissed at himself. <********. Why the hell do I keep passing out? Why can't I stay and fight like I should? He stood up slowly, and left the room he was in, hardly paying attention to where he was. He finally reached the infirmary, and saw the damage that had been caused to Morgan. He walked up to Hank slowly.

"Mr. McCoy? How is he?"

OOC: It is sad but I have to say this. Due to personnal reasons, I'm going on hiatus. I will still be around, checking once in a while what's going on but I will not be an active member (not like I have been an active member anyway lately). So if you ever need Wanda or Freya, I'll be around to use them like you want for your plan or just pm me. I am sorry. I know I did said I would be more active but something came up. So I'll quickly post something to get Wanda and Freya out of the house.

IC: "Well since the threat is out of danger, we're going," said Freya.

"What!? No we're not! We have to catch my brother!" yelled Wanda.

Freya sighed. Right now a meeting with her brother in the house of people who weren't liking them wasn't a good idea. Specially now they knew they were inside. And staring at them at the precise moment.

"If you want to see your brother so badly, I'll just ask him to give me an appointment," she told the Scarlet Witch as she grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the mansion and the property before Regina came back with the wounded Morgan. (Well can't disturb the course of events since Wanda didn't grab Regina for infos about Pietro razz )

"An appointment?"

"Yes. Your brother thinks he's so important that he'll fall right into it. Besides, he doesn't know me so he won't know I was leading him to you."

"Freya... Sometimes I wonder if you're good or evil..."

All Wanda had for an answer was Freya's cheerful smile.

When Jamie arrived at his small apartment that day, he found a small manilla envelope half jammed under his door. He withdrew it, unlocked it, ans stepped inside, removing his shades that covered his "odd" eyes and placing them on the counter as he closed the door.

He examined the evelope carefully before opening it. There was a single small note inside and a small device, which looked like an earpiece for a hands free cellphone, fell out into his hand. Not particularly strange in itself, until it started beeping. He looked at the note. There was only one word on it. LISTEN

Jamie eyed the beeping device, but it didn't look like that it was going to do any damage. He reluctantly placed it in his ear, and tapped the small button on it.

"Hello, Ares. Yes, I know all about you. If you're hearing this, then you've recieved the transmitter," came a suitably deep voice from the device. It was obviously a recorded message. Ares didn't bother asking how thie person knew who he was, or how he found his address. He just continued listening to the message.

"I had this message delivered to you because I have... an offer you can't refuse, if you will. I require your... unique abilities for an assignment. In return, I am offering something that I know you will be quite interested in. I know about your powers, and am willing to present you with an item which will grant you a degree of control over this power, that you have yet to dream of. More details, along with transportation to my location, will be provided if you accept. Press the small button used to activate this unit if you do accept. You have thirty seconds."

Control... over my powers? Jamie thought as the recording finished. It sounded almost too good to be true, but whoever this person was, he knew about Jamie's powers, who he was, where he lived... The man in the recording was right. It WAS an offer he couldn't refuse. He removed the earpiece, and tapped the small button, before placing it back in his ear.

"I see you've accepted my proposal. A wise choice. Now, step out onto your balcony. Your transportation will arrive shortly."

Step out onto my balcony? What's he playing at? But Jamie complied. And sitting in the middle of his moderate sized balcony was a large silvery sphere. A section of the sphere pushed out slightly, and moved aside, giving the sphere the look of an orange with a section missing. Jamie stepped into the opening, and the sphere closed again behind him.

Raine almost did a double take at the appearance of the Speed Demon otherwise known as Pietro, rolled her crimson hues, and then followed John. Who WAS that guy? Odd... Her hand remained tightly fisted in Katori's ruff, knowing the mutant hunter wouldn't hesitate to attack any of them as soon as he had the chance.

"Hm..."

At his question, the femora bit her lip lightly and then finally found the correct words to say.

"I was at that pathetic little 'school for mutants' for reasons you don't need to know, Katori snapped; which he cannot be blamed for, it was my fault for bringing a creature designed to hunt mutants in a place full of them. Anyway, he ended up attacking Jacen, I stopped him and you see me as I am now."

She held up her arm, still wrapped im bandages, and the other wounds still fresh but healing faster then normal.

"Jacen...said a few things that perked my interest. I've never been on good terms with humans as it is...well, in my profession you learn to kill both humans and mutants."

She shrugged and stretched, her muscles feeling loose and relaxed. Rest has done her good, she was almost in perfect shape again. Although, even wounded she was still dangerous, don't get that wrong. Her crimson-shaded optics glanced to John rather curiously.

"What would it take to join up with you guys? I'm only asking you this figuratively, 'cause this assassin only does things for a price..."

Penny frowned. She had only read about Magneto in the Institute's files. He wasn't somebody that Xavier spoke about openly or somebody that the man took lightly either. From reading his file, Magneto is one guy that kind of creeped her out. She didn't want to mean him in a dark ally.

"Reg, as much as I like being a vigilante, we gotta give this information to Chuck, Logan or somebody. Just not Jean, I don't like her much," Penny figured it would be best to not keep this thing to themselves. Regina, of course, wanted to find Mr. Porter to give the information to but Logan graced their presence first.

"I know you kids well enough to know you're hiding something. Spill it," He said in his usual gruff demeanor and walked them out of the Danger Room. He took in the information that Regina gave him, stopped by an elevator, and pushed the up arrow. He didn't give his feelings on the matter away any. Penny had a hard time reading him but a slight wrinkle on his forehead gave away that he was bothered, "I'll pass this along. I'd tell you kids to stay out of it, but I know you better than that too. Now go to bed, you have school in the morning."

He all but shoved them in the elevator. Attached to the elvator wall was a flyer for the school prom.

"Are you kidding me?" Penny rolled her eyes and took it off the wall as they stepped out of the elevator, "Kitty must be in charge of the Prom Committee."

"That I am," She phased through a wall and took the paper from Penny's hand. She taped it back into the elevator, "And I want everybody to go. So, like, you girls need to get a date... or go yourself... but you better be there!"

"Oh boy," Penny sighed and grabbed her shower back off of her night stand in her and Regina's dorm, "I'm going to get a shower and give the Infimary a call to see how the boys are doing."

OOC: Yea, school, you know that place we're supposed to be going to sometimes wink

Regina sighed and looked at the poster. The one next to it was something that made her giggle a bit. "Hey. Look."

"PIETRO FOR CLASS PRESIDENT"

"He strikes again." Penny frowned, but then had to grin. He was still a joker at heart, even if he had been there doing mischief.

They made their way to the showers first and after some talking and cleaning, their bedroom called to them.

"It has been... far too long my friend." Regina sighed happily and flopped into her bed. "I think it's time for the monthly cleaning..." she muttered, throwing a bra on the floor. "I think that one was yours Penny."

Gen looked to Alanna. She was afterall, her new roommate and even if she couldn't see very well she could hear. "I guess we should take that teacher's advice and go to bed as well? Though I'd rather stay up and explor this place... more."

"I was asked here to teach, not be an X-Man," Porter said and meant it. Xavier asked him to teach. Not to lead students in battle and not to have to use a power he had been avoiding for years. He brushed by Logan and Ororo after leaving their prisoner in her office. Xavier was still in the Infirmary being observed by medical staff.

"I understand your point," Ororo nodded, "But being a teacher here sometimes means going out of your way to protect these children."

He ran his fingers across the bristles on his cheek, "From the looks of it, a few of these 'children' can handle things themselves. The more you lock them in like infants, the more crazy s**t they're going to get into. My job is to teach these kids. That is it. And if you want me to teach them more, then you give me a team of my own."

"Done," Ororo said with Logan sitting like he was going to pounce. Porter wasn't particuarly afraid of the guy. He could take down the Jolly Green Giant if got a good glance in the guys eyes.

"Fine, I want these kids: Penny, Regina, Morgan, Jamie, Gen, and Alanna. I've seen them all already and I have ideas for each of them."

"You know you just took most of her team and one of mine," Logan said.

"You'll have new students. Besides with Xavier down, Ms. Munroe here has her hands full as head mistress."

Porter bowed out of the office with respect and took his student's files with him. They probably weren't going to like him as their counselor. He believed in pushing oneself and doing well in school. Yea, they definately weren't going to like him.

OOC: Hope the listed x-men don't mind having a new 'counselor' wink
