Earendil smiled at Lin. "Good morning," he said cheerfully; and then his gaze went past her. "Um ... your feathers are a bit ... ruffled ..." He reached out to smooth them down, then stopped and looked at her. "May I?"
He didn't know how she felt about others touching her wings, after all: for all he knew, it could be considered a very personal thing.

"Oh! Uhm... I have it..." Lin murmured trying to hurriedly smooth them down.
Lin had been around enough of her other siblings and mother to know that probably wouldn't have been a good idea. Though she would have liked the help, it really wouldn't have.
When she was sure it was down and smooth like it had been before, which involved a lot of wing twitching to try and get it back in place she sighed.
"I was trying to look for loose feathers, I don't understand how anyone looks for them..."
And she really didn't want to shed.

"If it makes you feel better," Earendil commented, "I don't know how either." He stared at her wings. "How anyone could look at their own back and see things that aren't easy to see is beyond me."
He paused, then asked, "Ready for breakfast?"

"Ready," Lin replied, "And that is one question I have to ask Mom when I get back."
Of course she was going to have to learn a lot of things from the beginning. Just normal behavioral things that she found wasn't instinctive to her. Like... her mother always knew it wasn't good to have someone else (especially a guy) to touch her wings but Lin had to reminded herself of that by example. Just little things that wouldn't normally occur to her.
She closed the door to her room behind her as she entered the hall.
"I'm going to have to ask her a lot of things."

Earendil chuckled. "It's going to be like learning how to walk all over again," he grinned. Perhaps not the best analogy, but it would do.
They joined the others in the dining room, but Aranel and Tinuviel had already finished eating and were on their way out with Regan.
"I think it would be best if we visited the lord of the city," Tinuviel explained as they left. "A tad informal, just going like this, but if we didn't go he may be affronted, you never know."

Lin nodded, she could see how it would be best to go a bit informal, "See you later then."
She supposed it would be just her, Earendil and Kaito, since she didn't know how long the visit would take. Lin didn't know how any of these sort of things work.
It would be later after Tinuviel, Aranel and Regan left would Lin ask what they should look at first. Though she sort of figured it would best to look at the tailor's first.

Tinuviel, Aranel and Regan left right away, leaving the others to themselves. Kaito was also finished eating, but he didn't rush Earendil and Lin.
"So," he grinned at the two of them, "where do you want to go first? It's a decent size city, but we do have days."

A few days sounded good to Lin as she thought about it.
"Tailor?" Lin suggested.
That way it wouldn't be a last minute thing when they did have to get ready to leave.

"Sure thing," Kaito grinned. "It's not too far, it's kind of nice having the inn in the middle of everything. Nothing is ever really far."
Earendil chuckled softly. "That's good. I'm sure Lin would like to be in some clothes that fit properly again." He smiled at her teasingly.

Lin stuck her tongue out at him before starting her breakfast. She ate quickly not just because she wanted to be out there but because she was hungry. It seemed like her body was working double time yesterday in healing had left her hungry even though she had dinner (though late) last night.
Senka who had actually slept by a window that night instead of going up to anyone's room pounced on Earendil's feet. She was quite aware he had kept her owner out late last night.

Earendil let out a yelp, and then he peered under the table to see what had attacked his feet. He blinked at Senka. "What was that for?" he asked incredulously. "I didn't do anything!"
Kaito laughed - and laughed and laughed. It wasn't every day that he got to see someone catch an elf off guard, and especially when it was Earendil, who always seemed so in control, that nothing would catch him off guard ...

Senka sat on her haunches and stared back up at Earnedil her tail swishing back and forth, "Where were you two so late?"
She looked at him accusingly as if he really had done something wrong. Sure he may have good scratching fingers but no one took up her owner's time like that.
"We were training you possessive cat," Lin replied between bites.
She didn't seem at all fazed by this, though she did give Kaito an odd look since he found it so funny. To Lin this was perfectly normal.

"You do realize, you could have come with us," Earendil pointed out to Senka, slightly annoyed. "And for Valar's sake, she slept all day - what else would she have done to tire herself out again so that she could still sleep and then be up again today like a normal person?"
Kaito was still laughing. "That was classic!"

Senka seemed to accept that explanation but she had her nose in the air as she leaped onto Lin's lap and proceeded to take it over by drapping herself out.
"Looks like even with your touch, you're not immune," Lin commented.
She wasn't surprise, honestly she wasn't. She was more surprised that Senka put up with Earendil for as long as she had. Probably because Earendil was a good scratcher she was sure.

Earendil rolled his eyes, something he did only very rarely. "Lin," he said flatly, "I think your cat needs some training as well."
He sighed. Well, what could he expect? Lin had warned him. Still, they had been getting along so well ... persnickety cat.
