"What's up? Please tell me it is not another problem with that bulldozer... I knew we should have requisitioned another one after it broke down twice last month!" stare Dawn turned away from the flower bed that she had been weeding with a look of disgust, never noticing the plants all turning their blossoms to follow her as she dropped the weeds into a compost bin beside the table and dusted her hands off on her pants.

He shrugged and said, "Well maybe we can do that now. He's here."

That was all she needed to hear, hopefully. He was nervous, and even saw a plant or two move... which frankly, freaked him out. He didn't know what a Green Mage was exactly, but perhaps this room cleared that little explanation up.

"Oh... well thanks for letting me know!" Dawn acted as if it was nothing big to have the head honcho here, in their project...but on the inside she had to fight the urge to panic, but that wouldn't help anyone at all so Dawn tried to project calm in the hopes of that calm rubbing off on her team.

She scooped up a potted fern and headed out of the nursery, a rustle of leaves following in her wake, a noise that would normally be associated with a breeze, but there was not a breath of air movement in the warehouse.

Dawn carried the potted Fern with her as she set off for the nearly completed RI building, figuring that Mr White would meet her there when he was ready.

It took him about half an hour more to finish what he was doing, and a bit more to head towards said building. On his way there though, he did see a vast improvement, especially here in the Inner City. It was a real treat to watch everyone at work, and near the Tower was... wait, what was that?

Evan ventured closer to investigate, and found that it was... well then, she certainly worked quickly, didn't she? This wasn't due until much later, but it was already at this stage? Nice.

And there he saw her; the woman responsible for all of this.

"Ah, there you are, miss Montigo. I love what you've done with the place."

"Ah, Mr. White.. so glad you could cove visit this project... shouldn't be more than another month before the building is completed. I love how fact these concrete structures go up, don't you?" Dawn smiled happily and handed Evan a hard hat, the signs still all in place that this was an active construction zone.

"But I have something that I specifically wanted to go over with you... would you mind coming with me for a very private tour?" She was actually itching to show off the levels that were not on the blueprints, and with the elevator now installed it would only take a few moments for them to get there.

And lo, he did put on the hard hat and nodded. "Lead the way, then. I'm interested in seeing what work you have done already, and frankly I'm surprised at how quickly you've put all this up. It's a wonder, really."

With that, they made their way inside...

"Oh it is all steel I beams and cement for the most part, with this being such a short building it takes no time at all to get those in place, it is all the huge glass windows and the finishing work that takes all the time these days." She led him into the building, and showed him how rough the work really was at this point, the wiring was all in neat lines strung between the open beams 18 feet above them, and the walls were plain gray cement with chalk notes and lines in places.

"There are three elevators that service the building as indicated in the plans..." She led him to the western elevator and escorted him in. "The East elevator goes from the parking garage up to the fourth floor, and then for security purposes there is an elevator that goes only from the fourth floor to the fifth floor and the atrium level. This elevator however goes to two subterranean levels of the building that are not on the official plans that I submitted, in fact... there are only three other people besides myself who know that this elevator goes someplace else than the East elevator, and they were the three that helped me install it!"

Dawn stuck her key card into the security reader that powered the machine and then pressed the button for the fourth floor, followed by the second floor and then the parking garage button... the elevator made a dinging noise all the buttons flashed and went dark and the box started to move down. "I really hope I didn't overstep my bounds, but I had heard that this was a company that was interested in strategic designs, and I thought that if this building looked like just plain offices for the most part, that it would be less likely to end up as a target..."

Evan nodded. She did have the right idea, after all. One couldn't be too careful about this kind of thing. Besides, he wanted to see how big these underground levels were, and whether or not he could fit everything he wanted in them. To be perfectly honest, there were a lot of things running through his mind at that point, but the main thing was that she had done excellent work.

The elevator took them past the parking garage without stopping, in fact, if one were watching the floor indicators on the outside of the elevator doors they would never even see movement once the code for the hidden lower levels was engaged.

The elevator slowed to a stop after only a few seconds, and a bell dinged again, but the doors did not slide open. Dawn pressed the parking garage button again and pulled out her key card before she pressed the 4th floor button again and the doors slid open. "A secondary lock, and the codes can be set to rotate...they also lock out access to this level after two wrong tries!" She explained as the doors slid open to a dark expanse and she stepped out of the elevator.

"I left these two floors completely open.. because even though I understand that you might want to keep somethings a secret, I have no idea of exactly what those things are! That means that there is no plumbing or electricity beyond the elevator generator hook up, but putting in those things once I know what sort of floor plan you want will not take much time at all." sweatdrop Dawn flicked on a portable flood light that was stationed right beside the elevator door.

The door would close behind Evan when he stepped out, a soft humming noise indicating that the elevator was headed back up to the regular levels of the building, the trip hadn't even taken a minute in total. The lowest level of the building was huge and echoing, the heavy duty flood light did not reveal the far wall... "There is a set of stairs over there that leads to the upper level, which can only be accessed from this level, and a hidden door back on the wall behind the elevator that leads to a tunnel exiting in warehouse a few blocks away from here... at the moment the warehouse is full of the plants that we plan to put in the atrium and on the grounds, but by the time we finish the building it will be empty again and ready for any use you need, the exit there is also well hidden, although it is more obvious when the warehouse is completely empty..."

Hmm... any use, huh?

Evan smiled. This place was more than big enough for what he had in store. "Well, I don't want to leave you in the dark, no pun intended. The floor above this one is Research and Development- it's big enough for that, certainly. But this..."

He smirked and said, "It's a good thing I already brought this with me. This is what I want down here. The elevator lock was a clever idea- this place especially needs to be kept locked, except to specific individuals and myself."

He pulled out the blueprints and lay them on the floor, near the floodlight. It was a rather intricate plan- several rooms were to be placed down here, but there seemed to be twelve seperate sections in total. each area was to have its own use, for sure.

"This place is for training. Not employees; at least, not regular ones. Field work is always important for people working for me, and we have plenty of that. But this place is... a different sort of training. You follow the plan here and set up the wiring- I'll have people from Aekea and headquarters bring the equipment and everything else needed."

Evan had her look at it, to make sure everything was in order. "Once this place is done and you've made final adjustments to anything you need to, you and your new team are to head back out to Durem as soon as possible. From there, I'll send the Weapons Division to give the military their new standardized gear and retrofit the city's defenses."

Wait, did she just hear that right? New team? Looks like she was hired.

Dawn knelt down to study the plans, pulling a little lined not book out of a back pocket and one of the pencils out of the bun of her hair, scribbiling down tiny notes that would not make much sense to anyone who hadn't seen the blueprints.

She tucked the note pad away again and blinked a few times as her mind went over all that he had said. "Well, I am happy to officially join the team..."

He nodded and shook hands with her, smiling to himself.

"Then welcome to Raven Industries. You're my Division Chair for Construction and Heavy Industries from now on- don't let me down. Seeing as you have extensive experience as an architect, I don't think you'll have any problem leading people."

The inspection team had since packed up with their findings, and the CEO had left the same way he had come, by helo. All things considered, this was better progress than expected.

People were beginning to move back into their newly-renovated Outer City homes, and the area was quickly stabilized. The noises of construction that were coming from the Inner City were not too obtrusive. By now, the apartment buildings in the more prosperous area of the city were complete, and had since undergone final inspections.

Phase One was just about finished- now all that was needed was the completion of the RI offices.

Before the man could do anything else, a squad of soldiers from the Lamentian Guard, always stationed at the city's entrances, showed up, and took positions around him, weapons aimed towards him, armaments at the ready...

You!! Cease and desist your actions this instant! Hands on your head, NOW.

This is your only warning! You make any other movement other than those directed, you will be shot...

The Captain gave his order, and the Guard were ready to fire... But how did they know he was here? How did they know he was about to use a magical attack?!

Defenses
Magic Detecting Units (MDU’s)-
These tiny sensors are scattered across the city in various locations and appear to look like tiny silver smoke detectors, and due to their locations inside buildings and along structures, they are often mistaken as such. Each sensor detects any magic use within a radius of thirty feet from the sensors. If the city is in Lockdown or under any other kind of military action, the sensors are activated and serve to alert ground troops to the location of the magical use. The target the sensors pick up can be tracked with a special device often carried by military personnel during military movements, and the detectors let out a loud alarm when exposed to magic in the area of effect allowing for tracking of targets without the device at hand.

Did this man really want to contend with a large group of soldiers, each with their rifles aimed right at him?
