Bornes would've slapped his hand to his forehead if he didn't think that would've made him look worse.
Oh, how he had degraded himself.
What had he become?

Once Isiah had left, he frowned, and with a sigh, crawled under the cot to curl into his ball and try to fall asleep. It took a long while before he could finally catch the sleep he wanted.

He woke up after sundown, flipping himself over so he faced the door, but did not crawl out from under the cot.
If Isiah was there, he would begin a whisper.
"Isiah.... I know this is bad timing probably, but are we still leaving..?"

Earlier that had been the plan, had it not? To abandon this town and try to find the next. But because of what had happened earlier, maybe now was not the best time.
Bornes was unsure of how much he could take of living with Isiah, however.
Maybe he should go venture out into the empty world by himself?

Isiah had returned with water, finding Q asleep beneath the cot. He slid on top of the canvas, as quietly as he could manage, setting down the can of water before curling up on his side, his face toward the wall.

He slept fitfully, eyes twitching open as Q spoke, groaning quietly, hands rising to his face. Truthfully, he was surprised that their day had gone by so quietly and uneventfully. He rolled over onto his back, groaning inwardly. "I don't know.." He mumbled. He was still at a loss as to what to do about this situation.

Bornes sighed, pushing the sunglasses atop his head as he still lay beneath the cot. His green eyes were still sore, but he surveyed the room as if it were new again, spotted the soup can with water in it, and began to crawl toward it, reaching out his left hand...

Steps outside.

"Werewolf," It was Tsurai, who had just let himself in again. At least it had not been during the day.

Bornes looked over to the boy from his place on the ground, his hand still outstretched and his mouth open dumbly.
"What are you doing here?" the hybrid asked, bringing his arm back to himself, and beginning to crawl out from under the cot.

Tsurai laughed. "It isn't obvious?"

Isiah turned over onto his side before pushing is legs out, standing faster than Q could crawl out from underneath the cot, creating a wall between Tsurai and Q should there be a need for one. "Get out," he hissed, quietly. "If you want him you go through me."

Kaegan had followed behind Tsurai, lecturing quietly the entire time about being careful, making the right choices, most of his words unheeded. He crossed his arms, waiting outside, perhaps three yards out, watching the confrontation wordlessly.

Even though Isiah got up to seperate them, Bornes still crawled the rest of the way from underneath the cot and stood wordlessly, taking his sunglasses off and resting them on the cot behind him, glaring at Tsurai.

"Why would you protect a p***y like him?" Tsurai spat, his confusion over the ordeal overcome by annoyance at the obstacle.
His legs spread and he leaned forward, looking as if he were ready to jump Q.

The hybrid's tail flicked in response, his eyelids narrowing. However, he did nothing else. He knew if Isiah wanted to fight for him, Isiah would. And there was no point in wasting his own energy if Isiah wanted to hurt himself.

Besides, Bornes was still feeling bad about what had happened before-- though he was still a bit confused why he had begun it in the first place-- he knew disobeying Isiah again would just make the tension between them worse.

He crossed his arms over his chest.

Isiah growled. "Back off, kid. I'll break you into pieces." Isiah was still blissfully unaware Kaegan was in the distance, watching, eyebrow quirked. Kaegan had never seen the rumored bully Isiah was- but he had heard about it in detail, in it's hey day. It was interesting to see.

Isiah puffed himself up, shoulders back, looking down his nose at the relatively diminuitive teen. "Last chance."

Bornes' eyebrows creased together with a frown. His tail flicked again, and he was asking himself why Isiah would bother protecting him like this in his mind, but he wouldn't dare say anything aloud about it. Not in this situation.

He would've taken a step backward but the cot was right behind him. Instead, he took a step to the side, so he was no longer completely behind Isiah. He uncrossed his arms and tried to keep his cool, but confusion was written over his face for anyone who could read it.

Tsurai hmphed, and jumped toward Bornes, who has just made himself so much more available. Bornes didn't expect Tsurai to come for him, but still his reflexes were well enough to put his arms out and step further to the side.

Bornes stepped right into a box, and almost lost his balance, but recouped just as Tsurai banged himself into the bed.
The boy quickly recovered however and went toward Bornes again, whose stance was now uneven.

The boy grabbed Bornes' shirt and yanked him with no uncertainty toward the door. The hybrid didn't do much in defense for two reasons- one, he was caught off balance, and two- he really liked his shirt.

Isiah grunted as the next few moves happened in a blur, groaning as Q seemingly let a teen drag him out to save his bloody shirt. And I'M the f**.. he mused inwardly, jogging outside to follow them, reaching in between them to stop the fight- Kaegan caught Isiah by the shoulder and tossed him back, grunting.

"Let it be," he hissed, frowning severely. Isiah's brow furrowed forward, fist curled tightly. Kaegan warned him with just a look before repeating. "Let it be."

Tsurai let go of Bornes once they were both outside, shoving Bornes away.

The hybrid looked toward Isiah who wanted to split up the fight but was stopped, a small look of surprise on his face. He turned back to Tsurai, who was spouting something about how the werewolf was lucky he hadn't come during the day like he wanted, because Kaegan had insisted on a 'fair' fight.

"The last one was not fair enough?" Bornes asked, trying to stay calm. He was trying to figure out what his next approach to this would be. He wouldn't repeat his last mistake, and he certainly didn't want to lose to this boy.

Tsurai growled, annoyed at the werewolf's apathy. "You blacked out before I could make you pay for what you said," he spat.

Bornes quirked his head slightly. The more angry this boy became, the more fierce he got. And while, like most people, he made more mistakes when angry, he was quick enough and had so much energy bundled within him that making him angry was simply not a good idea.

And for the kid to have kept so angry about what Bornes had said for so long... This kid must have some resolve.
He had to come up with something.

Awkwardly, Tsurai was breathing heavy and waiting for Bornes to make the first move. Bornes thought this strange, but accepted it anyway, taking his time, staring at Tsurai, trying to go over his options so he wouldn't lose again.

He seemed afraid, before, Bornes thought to himself. When I acted more like a werewolf. He is dumb enough... Maybe I scould scare him?

It seemed stupid, be he should at least try.

The hybrid glared at Tsura, his eyes beginning to glow the faint green of bioluminace.

Tsurai seemed confused at first, shifted his gait, but still stood firm.

"Well I'm glad you decided to come back," Bornes hissed, his legs spreading and his arms following.
"I can't tell you how long I've smelled you, and after our last fight, I want nothing more but to chomp your skin. It's a full moon tonight." Bornes couldn't really tell if it was, but he doubted Tsurai could either. "I am stronger than I was before!"

Bornes puffed out his tail like an agitated cat's, flicking it to and fro as the black fur spread, seeming to double in size. He gave an overemphasized snap of his jaws toward the boy, who seemed to be taking to the illusion rather well as he took a halfstep back.

The hybrid threw in an excited dog bark- something he would try to hold in in normal circumstances, as they were rather realistic and embarassing- for extra effect, and then lunged toward the boy, mouth outstretched and drool beginning to form. The drool wasn't too hard, considering Bornes was always rather hungry, these days (the venison brought his body to a new standard).

Tsurai's eyes widened at the display of canine aggression and he fell full force on his back from Bornes' tackle.
However, he was shot his arms up to punch the hybrid in the side right after they landed.

The lupine, having rather excited himself in this roleplay, let out a dog whelp at the punch, but tried to ignore the pain as he curled his left hand into a fist and slammed it repeatedly in Tsurai's face, bloodying it, breaking his nose after the 2nd or third punch, before Tsurai finally managed to kick the werewolf off him.

Rather than make the mistake of staying on the ground like last time, Bornes rolled to his feet and immediately went to Tsurai again, this time with an uppercut.
Tsurai had done mostly the same, except instead of an uppercut, it was a kick to the same side he had hit earlier.

The hybrid's uppercut missed as Tsurai leaned back for the kick, but Bornes' used his own momentum to throw a roundhouse kick instead, his body turning so the contact was not so fierce from Tsurai's point of contact, and his own, much heavier combat boot's heel smacking the kick in the neck, hurdling him to the ground.

Bornes sucked at offense, but his reflexes were good, and what a hugely lucky break what just happened was.
Given any other situation, it probably could've never happened again.

When both his feet were back on the ground, he took a step to hover over Tsurai, who hadn't gotten up in the maybe two seconds that had passed.

The hybrid's tail began to jerk. AT first anxious, but then went into an excited wag. Bornes was breathing through his mouth already, a faint dizziness within him, but he gently kicked Tsurai's side, to make sure the kid wasn't going to get back up.

No response.
Bornes couldn't help but smile that the kid was unconcious. If a puppy getting its first tennisball had a human face, it would be Bornes'.

But the smile faded almost as quickly as it had come, and the wag began to slow. Bornes sucked in one last breath and held it to make sure he wasn't hearing things.

Bornes nudged the unmoving Tsurai to turn on his back, and then bent down to take the boy's pulse.
Bornes' let out a breath and then began to breathe unevenly.

Had he broken the kid's neck? His boots weren't that thick, his legs weren't that strong....

Kaegan watched the fight, wincing with each mistake, each blow that Tsurai took. His eyes widened once Tsurai fell, jogging over to him, kneeling beside him, pushing Q back with a palm to his chest. He pressed his forefingers against his neck to feel for the pulse, resting his head on his chest to wait for the breath that wouldn't come.

Kaegan's breath quickened as denziens gathered around the pair, pulling his head up from his chest. His eyes even went teary, fogged for a moment before he ran his fingers over Tsurai's eyelids to shut his dilated eyes for the last time.

It was only then when he jerked his head up to glare at Q- it was a look that spoke a thousand words, a thousand threats and insults. Isiah watched from his place, his body tense should Kaegan take his allowed retribution at this point- it would be quick, should he try. But the strike didn't come. Kaegan stood, brushing off his knees, picking up Tsurai to gently cradle him in his arms, resting his lolling head against his shoulder. "Move," he grunted, mostly to Q but also to his followers to part. He would bury him. Alone.

The group looked wide eyed at their now dead compatriot, then at Q, before dispersing, some following after Kaegan to offer help for his grim task only to be refused.

Isiah loosened only after the streets had cleared, walking over to Q. "It's all right," he whispered, though he doubted the hybrid would be too broken up about it- more shaken.

Bornes was pushed aside, and slid back on his heel. His heart beat faster as Kaegan checked over Tsurai-- Bornes knew at that point Tsurai was dead, but he wanted to believe otherwise. He wanted some sort of magic revival to happen then.

Bornes' had a look of concern and worry-- the shot had been a lucky break. He had been surprised it worked. But at what cost? Less of a lucky break and more of a grave mistake, it seemed. For suck a small child to have such strength in him, and then to just go down in practically one shot?

Kaegan gave the glae that was worth a million. Even though Bornes had lost a great deal of respect for Kaegan after the whole incident with the food, the hybrid still had respect left, and that glare didn't need words to convey the utter hatred and disdain the Alpha felt.

Bornes took a haggard breath, the dizziness coming to the forefront, now. His heart thumped in his chest in preparation for some sort of punishment.

But Kaegan just walked away with Tsurai. Silently. Maybe that was the worst punishment the man could give.

Bornes knew death happened. He knew everyone died, and he saw many, many people die by his own gun. But never personally. Never in such close quarters. Never after he had gotten to know them.

Tsurai had been an annoyance, yes, but there was something about him that Bornes liked. He could never place it. Maybe it was just that fleeting feeling that, for a moment, he felt like a father when Tsurai was there.. Regardless, whatever the reasons were they were gone now.

Bornes felt deeply sorry for the loss, but he would never know how to apologize for it. How do you apologize for accidentally killing someone?

The hybrid was still squatting when Isiah came over. Bornes still felt as if everyone was watching him, and hating him, even though most of them were gone.
He closed his eyes in an effort to try to at least slow down his heartbeat. His headache had come and was prominent now. His heartbeat was slowing on its own, but certainly not fast enough for his liking.

Bornes began to waver on his toes, and opened his green eyes again to look at Isiah, forcing himself to take a long breath and bringing himself to his knees instead.
He wouldn't pass out if he just waited a minute before getting up.
Standing up too soon now would definately guarantee him falling back over.

He put his hand on the ground, looking up to his compatriot. His voice was a bit shaky.
"Are you sure? Isn't there some sort of... Punishment...?"

Isiah stood behind his kneeling compatriot, arms shoved into his pockets. He was tense, and visibly so, but he tried to portray a visage of strength for the sake of his friend. "No," he replied, quietly. "Death in a rank fight isn't exactly encouraged but... It happens. From time to time. You did what you had to."

Isiah sighed inwardly, eyes squinting as he struggled to make out Kaegan's outline as he walked north and disappeared, the boy in his arms. "He can't touch you. He won't."

Bornes looked back to the ground, relief washing over his face.
"Ah.... That is good to know."

The hybrid waited another moment before finally pushing himself up and standing. After standing, he took a step forward, then widened his stance and stood still, scanning the area.

He crossed his arms over his chest and looked at the very few remaining people watching him with a frown. He still didn't feel comfortable walking yet.

He cleared his throat before softly asking "...What now?"
PostPosted: Sun Dec 21, 2008 5:31 pm

Isiah turned his light eyes away for a moment, taking a long deep breath to calm himself, clearing his head. "It's up to you," he responded. "You have rank now. Rights to food and water. I don't know if anyone will be willing to challenge you, after that, at least not soon." He turned back toward him, brow furrowed forward. "You have to be sure this is the life you want."

"I wish you had been this caring before," Bornes hmphed, taking a step forward, finally, and bringing his hands to his sides.

After the first two steps, he turned around and went toward the well, trying to hide his eagerness, but failed while his tail began to wag.
Rights to food and water? Well, he didn't know where the communal food was, but he'd certainly take advantage of the water.

Once he reached the well, he didn't hold back and quickly put down the bucket, bringing it back up to drink from it, water slopping down his chin as he gulped it down noisily.
