Lin rubbed her bare arm looking up at the sky, seeing the cloud of living creatures fly off. They must be quite loud, she thought to herself focusing once more to get down.
"They could run you over there's a so many of them," Lin commented.

"Yup," Adan replied in simple agreement, heading off into the trees without waiting for the others.
Aragost motioned for the other children to follow, then set off after Adan.

Shiro and Ura exchanged a wary glance, then Shiro took Ura's hand again and led him off into the trees after Aragost and Adan.
"Hurry up, Lin," he called back over his shoulder to his aunt. "We don't want to be left behind."

"Don't worry, we won't be," Lin replied.
Though she did hurry her steps to catch up with the boys, even though she knew no one wanted to be left behind, no one really wanted to be in the rain neither.

It was a while before they broke through the trees once more, but when they did, there were two houses in sight beside a familiar winding river.
"I can go from here," Adan grinned up at Aragost. "You take the others home, okay?"
The tall man shook his head slowly. "I'll not be leaving you alone again," he said firmly. "Now keep going ... we'll be right behind you."
Though it had been obvious that his kidnapping had not been his fault, the dark fighter had never ceased to blame himself for lack of foresight, or for taking so long to go pick up the boy.

Shiro looked curiously at Lin as he ran alongside her.
"Do you think there are still slavers in the area?" he asked her softly, his brows furrowed worriedly. "He seems really worried about it ..."

"You can never tell," Lin admitted with a shrug, "I don't think so, but you never know. There could always be someone stupid who thinks it's a bright idea."
And she would imagine at this point that Haven wasn't the most liked place by those in the slave trade.

Shiro sighed. "There have to be stupid people everywhere, I suppose," he murmured sadly - just as the sky opened and it began to rain.
He flattened his ears against his skull. "Great. I hate getting water in my ears," he muttered. "It hurts."
Ura reached over and stroked the edge of Shiro's closer wing. "Use your wings to cover your head," he suggested in the same quiet tone he had always used as an infant. "You have bat wings ... they will keep the water off of you."
Shiro blinked at Ura, then grinned widely. "Good idea," he agreed, spreading his wings above his head. "Thanks."

Lin looked up in interest in the way Shiro used his wings, that was very neat. Though she wondered if his wings would get cold after a while. Though it was one question she wouldn't put Shiro in the discomfort of finding out.
Hurrying along side the others to get down, Lin ignored the cold drops landing on her.

The five of them headed quickly to Aliya and Amdir's house - the further of the two - and as soon as they reached it, Adan opened the door and headed inside.
"I'm home!" he called, kicking off his boots.
"Finally," Shael murmured, appearing at the doorway. She peered out at the others and motioned for all of them to come in as well. "Hurry, all of you, and come out of the rain," she called. "It's cold, and you'll make yourselves all sick."

"Hi Shael," Lin called out as she stepped in, looking for a place to wipe her feet so she wouldn't track dirt in.
At least.. they weren't terribly wet she thought to herself, it could have been far worse.

Shiro looked up at Aragost anxiously as he and Ura followed Lin into the house.
"Shouldn't we be getting back to the ranch?" he asked, folding his wings once more. "Mother will be worried about us ..."

Aragost remained on the porch, out of everyone's way.
"I will tell your mothers where you are," he assured both Lin and Shiro before they could protest further. "Stay here until the weather clears. It may not be until the morning, but you will be safer here than if you would head back to the ranch."
With that, he waved to everyone, then headed back out into the rain, in the direction of the trees.
Shael smiled at the three remaining guests. "Well, come in, dry yourselves off," she invited them, nodding at a mat next to the door. She did a double-take when she noticed Ura. "Weren't you ... smaller this morning?" she asked, cocking her head in confusion.

Lin giggled at that, it never ceased to amuse her the reactions of eveyrone after a growing.
"Ura grew, just like Kaito did," Lin explained since Kaito had also grown here in the Borderlands.

"Hello, Shael," Ura murmured shyly, rubbing his feet on the mat as Shiro did the same.
When the two boys were clean, they wandered a bit further into the house, both of them looking around at everything - Shiro out of curiosity, and Ura looking for possible sources of danger.
