Though I have to admit, I did have to stifle a laugh when I read "MySQL?". xDD;;
MySQL is used for databases, usually storing log-in information, and backups of the site, etc. CGI is more for things like shopping carts.
Edit -> Why do you ask? Thinking of setting up some kinda pet shop? With the slimes, maybe? whee
Edit -> Oh yea, I could use a MySQL database to store the different log-in names and passwords. It'd be a helluva lot faster with loading and checking, but it'd also be a helluva lot more work, too. A text based log-in isn't much slower, and takes almost no maintenance.
