Kassa had survived the chase by locking Sabe in a little closet on the side of a staircase until claustrophobia set in and had him begging for mercy. Things went smoothly from then, until the virtual world got unstable. Sabe and Irwin were removed and re-materialized in the real world. After a few things were stocked in the machine, Kassa was too. Sabe came out of the machine a few inches shorter, Irwin became more limber, and Kassa left completely human; her hair was a grey color with a hint of blue now. Sabe was sent back to HQ through the portal to sort out his resurfaced thoughts, while Irwin went off to talk with his friends for the first time in years. Kassa stayed to find out what happened to her project.
Waffle was on her bed when Sabe came back, and dropped what she was doing to look at him. "Are you okay now?" she asked briskly.
"...I guess."
He walked out of the room and into the hall without thinking of much.
That didn't fix him either! He still isn't himself... Waffle thought for a moment. Then she chalked it up to the illithid larva messing with him, and that Kassa really did help him. She couldn't imagine things not returning to normal.

[Don't really know where to go with this..]
Koji knocked on Luciano's door which was slightly ajar. He poked his head in as it opened further from his knocking. "Um.. Luciano?" He said, looking around the room. When he noticed that someone else was in the room, he bowed his head slightly. "Oh, pardon me.. I didn't mean to interrupt."

"No, no," Luciano said, after standing up to greet Koji, Horatio smiled and gave Koji a nod as Luciano spoke "Come on in. We're just making some. . . New arrangements." Luciano looked down at his Grandfather, and then back up at Koji, "What can I do for you?" he asked, "Would you like some coffee, or some tea?"
Horatio looked up at his grandson, listening to him talk you could tell that he was in a lot of pain. . But he let him speak.

"No, thank you." Koji said as he was offered a drink. "Well.." He said, feeling awkward after figuring what he had interrupted. "I just wanted to come see how you were doing this morning.." Koji continued tentatively. "I know a lot of the guild is used to dealing with these sort of things... but I know it's difficult." It was becoming more difficult to figure out whether he should stop talking or not, so he figured he'd cut it short and not risk making Luciano feel any worse. "If you need to talk or anything, I'll be willing to listen."

Sabe turned his head and saw someone in a doorway down the hall. He could hear the other one busy in a conversation, so he quietly approached and sat against a nearby wall. He didn't want to involve himself, but he wanted to catch up on what had been going on since he had been gone.

Luciano politely nodded at Koji, "Thank you, Koji. . That's very kind of you to say. . ." He said almost in a whisper. He choked back tears as he thought of what else to say. Horatio slowly got to his feet using his cane, "Well, Um. . . I best be going anyway. We're preparing the Manor," Horatio looked to Koji and smiled "You and the rest of your group are invited to join us at Brozen Manor for Michelle's wake." Luciano looked over at his grandfather and he said "We will make it. . She would've wanted us all to be there. . ." Horatio gently patted his grandson's shoulder, ". . . Get some rest, Son. . Your mother is worried about you, so please call her as soon as you can. ." Luciano nodded and said a silent 'Goodbye' to his grandfather as he made his leave. Once Horatio left, Luciano looked down at the floor. His once dominant exterior had vanished the day his fiance was murdered; He couldn't make eye contact with anyone.
First it was his father he watched get murdered, and now his fiance. . Could he lose anything else? He pondered that for a moment until he was brought back to reality by Koji still standing in the doorway. Luciano swallowed hard and he said to Koji, ". . Are you sure you don't want anything to drink?. . . Coffee? Tea?. . Maybe a little Cognac?" Luciano didn't want to admit it, but he didn't want to be alone nor did he want to drink alone. And he wasn't about to say it out loud. Still not making eye contact with Koji, Luciano said "Maybe you'd like something to eat instead?"

Sabe still sat at the wall opposite of the doorway, eavesdropping. Michelle's wake? ...what on earth happened while I was gone?
He watched Horatio hobble out of the room and through the corridor, then turned his attention back to the room. In the back of his mind there were some garbled, foreign thoughts. Then a very ...vivid image of Michelle uncovered at a morgue, with a good chunk of her scalp missing. Spooked, he gasped, possibly giving away where he was. His stomach churned a little, and he buried his head in his knees trying to get these strange thoughts out of his head.

"Maybe just a small cup of coffee." Koji admitted. He could tell Lucian wasn't holding up well, despite his polite tone and hospitality. "Foxi's on her way here.." He said, as he took a seat. "She wanted to come by and give her condolences as well.. I know you probably want to get some rest. So we won't take up too much of your time if you're not feeling up to it." Koji remembered not doing anything but idly moving around his rundown apartment that had been converted from an abandoned warehouse for weeks after his brother had died. It was only when the Kuro family approached him that he started coming back to reality. One of their teams had been sent to investigate the vampire clan that had killed his brother for unrelated reasons. In the course of their investigation, they learned about other dark elf casualties at their hands, and sent out scouts to find who these elves were connected to. When they found the warehouse he was living in, they had expected to find a whole group, not just the brother of a vigilante. Koji smiled up at Luciano as he handed him the cup of coffee, trying not to dwell on his past. "Thank you." He said before taking a sip.

"You're welcome," Luciano replied, and then he said, after sitting down with his tea, "And don't worry about it- I don't mind the company. . It has been a little while since I've seen her, so a small visit would be nice." Luciano took a sip, and then gently set his cup on to the coffee table. After taking a small breath, he looked towards the bed and did his best not to burst into tears. He had to look away.
Trying not to think on it too much, Luciano tried to make more small talk, "How is everyone else?. . I. . I know that not everyone knew Michelle too well,. . I'm sure they're taking it just as hard. . ."

More images flashed into Sabe's mind, except they were different now; a vast empty building, poorly-lit and dank, some blood, and some of the Kuro Family's wiseguys. Then more garbled strings of speech came, followed by complete silence.
Maybe Michelle got on the Kuros' bad side?
Something didn't fit right. This was pretty far-fetched. It would seem wrong anyway, as he only had random pictures in his brain to go by, with no way to connect them. He tried listening to the conversation more, but he quickly stopped.
This is stupid.
Sabe got up and walked to the door of Luciano's room. As rude as he thought barging in was, too many things were bothering him right now. He poked his head into the doorway first and knocked second.
"Can I come in?" he asked.

The knock startled Luciano at first, but after seeing that it was Sabe, he got to his feet and said "Yes, you may come in. Let me fix you something to drink." He walked over to the coffee pot and he said to Sabe, "I have coffee and tea, if you would like some." Luciano prepared a cup just in case. He hadn't seen much of Sabe- Actually, he hasn't seen him at all since they've been home. Too much has happened already, and at this point Luciano wished he could just go to sleep and forget anything has even happened.
Pushing all of that aside, Luciano awaited Sabe's answer.

Sabe glanced at the extra cup on the table and found it too difficult to say 'no'. "Sure, I'll take some coffee," he said. He sat down nearby and mumbled a 'thank you'. He wanted to ask about what happened, but had a hard time putting it into the right words. So he started with a different question.
"How long has it been since you all came back?"

Instead of immediately getting to their work, Max and Nariana talked about her recent adventures through time. They managed a few chuckles and smiles, especially when Max teased her about her clumsiness with her dagger after the fight against the possessed dark elves in Ali's time. "Oh, quiet, Max. If you were tossed in time at random, you would probably fall on a dagger, too!" And so, the conversation gradually became more cheerful as they continued to talk on the couch.

Luciano poured Coffee for Sabe. Not knowing if he took it black or with cream and sugar, Luciano had put the stuff on the coffee table for him. "Here you are." Luciano nodded, as his way of saying 'You're welcome'. Luciano then replied to Sabe's question "I. . Don't really know. Since we've been gone, time seems to lag for some of us." Luciano fell silent.
He swallowed hard and he said, "Are you attending Michelle's funeral?"

Sabe took the sugar but left the cream alone. He listened to Luciano while he stirred his coffee, then sat in silence for a bit. "Are you telling me she's dead? That's ...funny. A while ago I had a gruesome image in my head of her lying on a morgue table. As for the funeral, I'm not sure. I've only been here for three minutes, and I was just..."
He trailed off the last bit and completely zoned out. Then he felt like he wasn't even there, his skin not belonging to him anymore. Sabe felt alarmed and shook one of his arms to gain control, but it didn't help. A little bit later, the feeling faded and he felt like himself again. "...Sorry. I'll talk about it later. Just you and me, though." he said, remembering that Koji was still there and listening.
