Salty liquorice shots you say? Do you add the salt or is the liquor itself salty? Sounds interesting.

The shot is made from the infamous Finnish salty liquorice called salmiakki and vodka. xd I'm pretty sure it's something only Finns would invent but it's good if you just can handle the taste of salty liquorice.

I like the taste of good black liquorice but this sounds pretty hard core. I'd still want to try it out of curiosity. 4laugh I wonder if I can find any here.

Hmm, I'm not sure. Salmari is popular "souvenir" or "brand item" so I think you could find it some where. I'm not sure how strict your booze legislation is so can you buy strong stuff from normal shops. xp But if you can't find it ready, you can also make it your self. This way it would really be the "real thing". So what you need is some Original Tyrkish Pepper salty liquourice and vodka. How you make it to salmari is that you let the salmiacs melt into the vodka.. and when the stuff is black you have enough salty liquourice in it. whee This is how the shot was invented actually. The Tyrkish Peppers are bit spicy and salty liquourice, but it works really, really well in the shot.

I'm going to keep an eye out for the candy. Hopefully I can find some at our local "World Market" store that has a pretty big selection of food items and candies from different countries.
In the meantime I'm going to copy your post to the recipe thread so I can find it again! hehe

xd I love it that you can now a days find more easily stuff in your local stores from other places. In my local store we have small section where you can find stuff I've heard you guys talk about so like Jell-O, Rootbeer, Cherry Coca Cola and other "odd stuff" we don't have normally in the selection. whee

*runs off to the pantry, to make certain that she gets this name just right* A couple of months ago, I had a sliver of cheese on a thin and crispy cracker, with a li'l hot pepper jelly. It was so very scrumptious that I had picked up a jar without ever knowing what the price was. The exact name is New England cranberry hot pepper jelly and I had never tasted anything like this before.

While my father, on the other hand, says such things as, "Eww, healthy stuff.." and the ever- beloved, "How do you eat this stuff?," to which I reply "~quite happily, thank you." Step out of your bubble and have new experiences, for they're truly the spice of life.

As for the reunion, perhaps photography is my true calling.. whatever's going to keep me out of the lime light, that is. c; Thanks for this idea, Camwen.

That's an awesome life philosophy there! And the jelly sounds tasty too!

@Gypsy - ooh! You're right about the Hollywood Vixen item. Nice find!

Hmm, I hadn't tried the first.. Hpnotiq you say? It certainly has a fun name and thank you for having woken up today. ^.~ Ahh, that reminds me: I need to pack a few ear plugs for the trip.

Please send positive karma for both of my flights tomorrow, as well as a safe return home, because flying intimidate me.. a lot. If I return in one piece, I promise to return to the AGA soon.
