After KD's one-worded reply, Nariana stiffened. "W-what's happened? Is she d--...hurt?" she asked quietly, fearing the worst and trying to contain the sudden flicker of panic she felt. In a delicate situation like this, she knew better than to burst out and make a ruckus. Just as she asked, Koji entered and approached them. She turned around in her chair and calmly said to him while frowning, "Something's happened to Michelle...I don't know what, though." She sighed and bit her lip.

Kassa stared at the album, gradually losing focus she had on the pages. She lost grip of the book, letting it hit the floor. There was no point to picking it back up and looking through the pictures again; she had forced herself to do look at them in the first place. Kassa slid down against the wall until she was sitting on the floor, staring at her feet. Putting the pieces together, something about this place gave her chills. Maybe it was the mix of childish decor and the harsh -or was it sweet?- smell of sleazy cologne that drifted throughout the room. Maybe it was the awful folder mixed in with normal books. It could have been that she barely started searching for clues, but still found so much information.

Sabe took the handkerchief and only wiped off the trails left behind by dripping makeup; why ruin the rest of it, right? He mumbled a 'sorry' and a 'thank you' and got up, leaving without any other words. All that mattered to him right now was to calm down in his room. Irwin stayed behind, not sure of what do do, until a jar on the fireplace mantle caught his eye. A faint little ball of light floated lazily inside it; it looked like a firefly that didn't flicker.

Luciano could've snapped at Skotti's comment; It was easier for that man to say such a thing, he had never witnessed the murder of someone he had worshipped. Now too many people were asking about Michelle, so to sum it up- in the nicest way possible for everyone, trying not to snap- Luciano said, ". . . Somebody murdered Michelle. ." He wasn't about to tell the group what had happened to him. The fact that she was murdered was all they needed to know, and that her death had to be avenged. An eye for an eye. A tooth for a tooth.
Luciano sat up and he said, ". . . I'm going to find the one that took her life. I don't care how long it takes. I will find them, and I will kill them." In the back of his mind, as he spoke, he felt something was wrong- What he said was wrong. And then he began to think; ". . She wouldn't want anyone to avenge her. . She would be angry at the fact that I'm even considering it. . . But it has to be done. ." Luciano wiped his tears and he said, "I have to go call her parents. . I don't know if they know, yet."

Suddenly, busting through the front door stood a distraught Ari, holding a glock, and he said darkly ". . . You. . ." Ari ran over and slapped Luciano across the face with the butt of the gun and he shouted, "How could you have let this happen?! Where were you when this happened?! You should have protected her- She was my pride and joy!! And you let her die!! How could you!!?" Luciano, now with a cut on his face, looked up at Ari. "Ari. . I was right there with her. . I'm so sorry. ."
"'Sorry'?! You're 'Sorry'?!- That's all you can say is 'Sorry'?!" Ari grabbed Luciano's bloody shirt and he shouted, "Let's allow someone you love to be killed!! Then we'll see who's sorry!!!" Ari held back tears as he pressed the barrel to Luciano's forehead. With tears in Luciano's eyes he said softly to Ari, ". . . That already happened. . So I guess there's nothing left for me to lose. ."

Nariana's eyes got big when Luciano spoke, but she managed to only let out a small squeak when her brain went into overdrive. 'H-how?? Where did this happen? Who did it? Why her sweet self?!', she thought in disgust while biting her lip. When another man came in with a gun, Nariana shot up in alert and put the tray on her chair. When the man approached Luciano, Nariana said with caution, "What are you doing..." She saw the gun, saw Luciano get smacked, saw the guy point the gun, and she flipped. She did the only rational-seeming thing to do at the time; she lunged for the guy and tackled him, trying her best to keep the arm with the gun pointed upward away from anyone.

As Nari tackled the man to the ground KD also sprung into help grabbing the gun away from the man and pointing it at him... she was shaking but held it as steady as possible and glared down at him.

The entire time Ari was being held down, he was fighting to get free. "Let me go!! He let my daughter die!!! Let me go, damn it!!!" Ari couldn't hold back his tears anymore. He gave up fighting and cried. Luciano wiped his tears and he slowly made his way over to Ari, he looked at Nari and KD gave them a nod; Hinting to let him go. And Luciano said "Ari. . . I'm sorry. . There's nothing more I can say except. . that there was nothing I could do. . We were out in the open, and then this loud shot was heard -" "- Sniper fire? In Durem?" Ari got up from the floor, and moments later Ari's son Raph came in, "Whoa! Pops!" Raph ran over to Ari and helped him to his feet, "Yo, sorry about my dad, Luc. The minute he heard my sister was dead, he lost it. . I know it wasn't your fault." Luciano didn't need anyone to believe him right now. He really just wanted the a*****e that shot his fiance dead. Luciano looked down at his hands, and his clothes,. . Michelle's dried blood was still all over him. Without another word Luciano walked away. There was nothing more he could say, or do to make any of this less painful. Sure, his friends were there, but none of them can bring back what was taken from him. Luciano then started up the stairs, holding back more tears as he held onto the banister.

At Luciano's nod, Nariana hesitated and finally let him go. She scooted away from the man and hoisted herself up. After listening to the gunman, Luciano, and the younger man talk, she concluded that this was obviously Michelle's family. As Luciano walked upstairs, Nariana thought to say something to him but decided against it. Instead, she turned toward KD and said, "I'm going to my office if anyone needs to know," before heading toward the door.

Koji had been silent since Luciano explained what happened. After narrowly evading Michelle's father as he came bursting through the door and standing back as chaos ensued in trying to stop the attack, he finally moved towards Luc. "I.." the words I'm sorry wanted to come out, but he know that couldn't even halfway express what he meant, or what his friend needed to hear. Instead he gently set his hand on Luciano's shoulder before heading to his room.

Everything was dead silent as Sabe went up several flights of stairs, except for the sound of his steps and rare creaks from the wooden floor boards. From his room, Kassa could hear light footsteps but thought nothing of it. It was getting hard for her to form any coherent thoughts. Was she really getting traumatized by someone else's suffering? Was it mental cross-contamination that she expected as a side effect? Sabe's steps got louder as he approached the door. It was silent for a bit, then the doorknob turned. He stepped in, ready to just plop down on his bed and curl up in a ball, but something halted that plan.

The folder of crayon drawings was still spread out on the bed; Kassa never did put them away. The pictures themselves had their blank sides up, but Sabe had a feeling what those papers were. He crept closer and reluctantly flipped one over just to make sure. There was a long pause as he stared at them, then he broke the silence with low wailing that grew in pitch. He picked up a handful of drawings, balled them up, and threw them to the side. He turned to the paper balls on the floor to stomp them, and that's when he finally saw a second pair of feet in the room. Kassa sat there, covered in paper balls, with a remorseful look on her face. She opened her mouth, desperately wanting to say something, but it was too late. Sabe's crying turned to shrieking again. Without so much of a word, he grabbed a lit lamp from his nightstand and threw it at her. It shattered, spilling kerosene all over the place. Kassa's lab coat and the space around it caught on fire. She quickly discarded the coat and ran for the door. Sabe pulled out a knife and ran after her, madly raving and babbling at her.

Nariana left HQ and walked toward Maximilian's black Mercedes Benz. She said nothing as she sat in the passenger seat and buckled up. Max started the car up and drove off to Lincoln Tech's headquarters. "You smell nice," Max said nonchalantly to break the silence. Nariana cracked a small smile in the dark and tilted her head to the side. "Would you like to know what held me up?" she asked him quietly. "Only if you feel like telling," he continued with his nonchalant attitude. Sighing, Nariana recalled Luciano crying and said, "Long story short, our chief's lover was murdered in front of him." "I see..." he replied and frowned. They said nothing else, respecting the solemn atmosphere of the situation.

Once at their corporate headquarters, Max proceeded to the private executive garage and parked. They got out and went up the elevator to the top of the building, the executive floor. There, they immediately began discussing the newest business contracts Nariana had missed while out on the last mission. After discussions, they agreed to accept four major contracts, type and suggest formal revisals of three major contracts, and completely reject another three major contracts. They went through one pot of coffee, two bags of tea, and half of Max's secret snack stash-- approximately 5 hours of work.

"So now what?" Nariana asked tiredly. The nap she took earlier was not enough to get her through this paperwork; she was ready to sleep. "We put this down until another day. When we are fresh, we can check this work and send it off. But for now, I should take you back." "No...Perhaps we will use the private room for tonight. It's not good to be out at this time." As a plan for the future, the executive floor was built to include a suite with conjoined rooms in case of overnight stays due to extreme work projects. She and Max used it during periods with important deadlines. "Oh, I suppose. However, you better not try anything...impulsively indecent in there." Nariana glared at him and smacked him on his forehead before getting up and leaving Max's office. "Goodnight, Maximilian," she said with her back facing him. She walked down the hallway to the final door on the left, punched in the security code on the pad above the door handle, and called it a night.

Her limbs couldn't move. *Beep* They were heavy and they wouldn't move. Her breath labored to take in more air, air that seems so hard to get. *Beep* Why? Why couldn't she move? *Beep* She strained to see, yet she couldn't tell if her eyes were open or closed. *Beep* Just darkness, darkness surrounded her...So hard. Why couldn't she see? Was it...she didn't I DON'T WANT TO DIE! *BEEP*

Nicola eyes snapped open. With a sharp in take of breath, she jolted up right in confusion. For a moment, she was confused. Where was she? Where was that beep-She let out a sigh, as her memory caught up to her. She remembered coming in, the strange greeting of her new home, than settling her stuff in her new room and than she fell a sleep. Which explained everything.

Letting out another, more withering sigh, she pulled herself from her sheets and slapped around for her alarm. Turning it off, she stood considering her latest nightmare. When was it, who was it and why did she feel like her head had a hole in it. Sigh again, she decided that she was sighing to much and walked out of her room. Walking out, she tried to ignore the uneasy feeling that tinged over her limbs. Shuffling along she pushed her thoughts away, just in time to hear a wail. At first she thought it was her alarm. Than remembered she had turned it off and the sound was wrong.

"Maybe it was someone else's alarm?" she muttered to herself as she started off downstairs and right into a very depressing scene. "What, by the gods, has happened?"

(Time Skip, I'm am tired of sitting around)

Skotti was up early the next morning, pouring his coffee. He had no clue what happened to luciano that night, but he assumed that he slept in the lobby on the couch. Skotti sat in his office, finishing his paperwork and sipping his coffee.
Out of the cornet of his eye, Skotti spyed his sniper rifle, and thought about slipping into his old routine of 2 hours practice every morning.
"After a year behind that scope, I think I can afford one day off." he said to himself.

Luciano sat on the couch just staring at his bed. The bed that he used to share with Michelle. He couldn't bring himself to lie in it after what had happened. The clothes he wore from that night were thrown out. . despite what he wanted to do. A part of him was afraid to throw them out, because it would be like throwing out a piece of her. . but it was for the best.
A couple minutes later he heard a knock at his bed room door, and almost in a whisper he said ". . . Come in." Coming into the room was Horatio, "It's me. . Nobody was around, so I let myself in. Everyone else will be here later. . . I've made the arrangements on your behalf. I hope that was alright." "Yes, it's fine. . ." Luciano replied to his Grandfather, "And Thank you for coming over. . I appreciate it." Horatio walked over to Luciano and sat down on the couch just across from him. He set his cane down so that it was leaning on the cushion, he straightened out his blazer and then said "Rumour has it that it's going to snow on Saturday. We might be getting six to ten inches. . D'you think we should have it on Friday?"
Luciano rubbed his arm and exhaled; it sounded almost shaky. He replied, "I. . I suppose so, yes. . Michelle would want everyone to make it." Horatio nodded, and after a short pause, and looking at his Grandson, he asked ". . . How are you feeling, Son?" Luciano tried to hold back his tears, but they were escaping down his face, "Like. . ." he said softly, he looked up at Horatio and he continued, ". . . I feel empty. . ."

(I was gonna say more, but I have to leave for a meeting, lol.)

Nariana woke up to the sound of classical music. Groggily, she muttered, "Wha'...what time is it?" before rolling over and looking at the alarm clock on the night stand. "7:08...Maaax, time to get up already?" Normally, she would have been halfway dressed for the day by now. However, she still felt the fatigue from last night's workload. She sighed and decided to check on Maximilian. After crawling out of bed and getting her slippers, she shuffled to the bathroom to brush her teeth.

Max was sitting on a couch in his suite, just relaxing and listening to Mozart. When he heard the faint groan of his work partner, he got up and started a pot of coffee on the mini stove. As the coffee brewed, he returned to his position on the couch and waited. Nariana came through the conjoining door of the suites moments later in her PJs (which had been conveniently waiting the night before in her master closet with other spare outfits). Max got up, grabbed two mugs from the cabinet above the stove, and poured each of them a cup. Without saying anything, Max handed her her cup. Nari thanked him and sat down on the couch; he took his and did the same. They enjoyed the silence for quite some time.

"I know you never really got introduced to her... I only knew her for a short period, but she was a really great person.." Koji's voice was heavy with emotion as he tried explaining the previous day's events.
"Please give Luciano my sympathies," Foxi responded from the other end of the call. "Maybe I'll come by later."
"I'll see how he's holding up today first, then let you know." He said, sitting back down on his bed. "Wouldn't want to overwhelm him.. it's ..it's hard dealing with death. Sometimes it's better not having people bring it up for a while..." His voice trailed off and the conversation went silent for a few seconds.
"Koji.." She said hesitantly. "I know you had to face some bad memories on that last mission.."
"It's fine. I-... I just haven't thought about it in a while. So being there.. and now Luciano and Michelle." He sighed. "A lot to deal with in such a short time."
"Why don't you get dressed and check on him? I'll come over and we can go out, get your mind off things. Then I can give him a hug if he's up to it."
"Alright, call me when you're close."
"Later~." The phone clicked shut and Koji tossed it on his pillow, sighing again. Being a part of this family is hard...
