[Nicholas <> Disney Castle <> Hall of Light]

The bard remained quiet as the figure sat close by, the warmth of the light (the Light?) emanating to the point that Nicholas seemed to visibly relax, his arms dropping to his side and his shoulders shifting to a much more natural position. His face remained stoic, however, as the Guardian began to analyze him thoroughly, and a small wave of discomfort settled over him. Being analyzed, so easily probed and his thoughts being laid bare in front of a bunch of people he barely knew was less than ideal.

As the Guardian of Light mentioned the possibility of not being able to revive Earth, Nicholas couldn't help but crack a small smile. He tried to keep it in, and he knew he really shouldn't think so negatively, but the thought of not having to go back to his old life, the crappy responsibilities and unwanted pressure, made him feel... elated. After the Guardian finished speaking, Nicholas coughed slightly and placed his hands behind his back, trying to stand properly... whatever that was supposed to look like.

"The choices are interesting, that's to be certain. I suppose I'll take the first option, then. I'm not really much of a fighter, much as I pretend otherwise, but I'll help out to the best of my abilities. As for the Earth, I'm not worried. Or don't care that much. If they all want to return, that's fine, but I'm content as I am here. You've got my loved ones safe, I don't have any of the pressures of old, and I have magical powers. There's practically no downside!"

He paused, then let out a high-pitched, shriek of a laugh.

"Well, except one. Even when our world is destroyed and we're all technically unemployed..." Nicholas paused, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small, flat, and mostly round object. After a couple of moments of fumbling with his shirt near the left side of his chest, he placed his arms back behind him to reveal a name tag with his name on it. It was white, with deep blue lettering, and a small logo on top. Most of the Earthlings would recognize it as the Disneyland logo shimmered in some cheap glittery way.

"In the end, I still end up working for the Mouse!"

[ Hall of the Light ]

The Guardian could only shake their head in what he could feel was soft amusement at Nicholas' response. Still, before any further words could be said, the young man would feel a burgeoning force from his chest; simultaneously, the Guardian began to glow in radiant light, their warmth spreading outward like a thick veil over the room.

Then, without warning, a thin stream of light burst forth from the Guardian's chest, connecting with Nicholas' chest. There was a brief moment of synchronicity, what he might call 'zen', before the light faded.

The Guardian seemed significantly more radiant now; their aura was somewhat restored, filling up the large hall they resided in. They even seemed less exhausted. Nicholas, meanwhile, would have felt... almost radiant, as well, as though he were more consciously aware of the light aspects of his heart.

The other Earthlings would have immediately recognized the event: it had taken place with them after the parade, after all. Yen Sid, Merlin, Sora, and Riku were present for that, as well. The other canons... not so much.

"It is so good to have you among us, Nicholas," they said, and he could feel their reassurance. "I do not believe you will regret your choice."

[ Narration ]

With Nicholas' choice established, everyone eventually made their way out of the Hall—first, up the stairs into the massive Throne Room, then out into the primary corridors overlooking the garden courtyard, and finally down the hall into the living quarters. They were guided by brooms and Merlin.

One room was particularly avoided; what few had ventured to it knew it had been Rae's.

Nicholas in particular was brought to a room like any other. However, before he could react, Merlin tapped his chest with the tip of his wand, then explained the situation:

"You mean well, but there is much to be discussed. As the Guardian vouches for you, you are welcome among us, but there will still be a... vetting process, as it were. For tonight, we will be restricting you to your room and the bath chambers; brooms will be stationed outside your door to guide you to and from the baths if you require them. Do not bother attempting any magic; I have enchanted you to restrict such things. Tomorrow, we will have a more thorough discussion about your future with us, but given tonight's proceedings, I feel certain this will be a one-time concern."

—————

The midnight hours passed without further event, and the twilight of morning did the same. Perhaps some stirred earlier than others, but even so, none were called upon til mid-morning.

Somewhere between 9 and 10, a gentle wave of energy would have washed over those still slumbering, walking them up as softly and safely as possible, giving them a smooth transition from dreams to reality. Whether it was a benefit of some magic, the Light, or literally just a feeling of security, everyone who slept did so wonderfully, waking up fully rested, regardless of whether or not they were awoken by the wave.

Afterward, all heroes received a message from Merlin from their charms.

"Good morning, everyone! Breakfast is being served in the throne room. Even if you're not hungry, please come by, we have much to discuss! Including four new Earthlings!"

If they had already left the rooms to wander, they would find brooms approaching to help if they did not know the way back (though, given the Throne Room was overlooking the central courtyard, it was hard to imagine getting lost).

The living quarters had been in a certain wing off to the side of the Throne Room, on the second story. As they approached, for the first time that they could recall, they would see that the gargantuan double doors were wide open, accepting morning light and the perfect temperate weather into the room.

There, directly along the central rug, was a massive long table, with all sorts of breakfast foods being prepared at that moment with magic from Merlin and Genie; the latter seemed to be showing off as much as he could to entertain three strangers sitting amongst the table: one man, and two younger women.

Two of them were strangers to everyone involved (though the two girls seemed to know each other pretty well already). One of the young women, however, was clearly recognizable to a certain artist.

"The fourth is with the Guardian at the moment and will be with us shortly; they're speaking below," Merlin announced to the first few people to walk in.

[ Kyle ; Sora ; Riku : Disney : Rooms -> Throne Room ]

Kyle stirred with a yawn as the wave washed over him, and finally woke up proper as the message came through.

Standing up and switching into his standard robes ('Probably a little too ostentatious for breakfast...') only to then switch into standard shorts-and-tee, he walked over to the wash basin in his room, rubbed his face as he looked in the mirror, and grumbled.

Screw it I'm thirsty.

Leaving and heading toward the Throne Room, he was joined by basically everyone who made their way out into the hallway, heading down the halls toward the massive...

... open doors? Huh.

He looked with mild curiosity at the three new people present. None he recognized, though it was no surprise, really. And frankly, the one person he'd always hoped to find was now safely snuggled in some light stasis.

He waved politely and gave a small smile, at least.

Not quite like Sora.

"Hey there!" he said, bounding into the massive chamber. Always eager to meet new allies and friends, he basically waltzed right up to the three of them and gave a smile. "I'm betting you already know me, but just in case, I'm Sora! Nice to meet you!"

Riku simply chuckled and fell behind, sitting a little farther down but still within normal speaking range of Merlin. "What time'd they arrive?"

"Oh, all sorts. The one still with the Guardian appeared unconscious in the courtyard just hours after most of us passed out last night," he said, whipping up a batch of pancakes for one of the eager women. "Then this one got dropped off short after dawn. The other two came in on separate ships just an hour or so ago, picked up on some world or another."

[ Song : Disney : Rooms -> Throne Room ]

Merlin making pancakes… literally. This wasn't some weird form of blasphemy. Merlin was literally making pancakes and within earshot of Song, to boot. This wasn't the first time she'd experienced this out-of-the-world sensation, but it had certainly yet to get old. A week wasn't nearly enough time to become accustomed to not just seeing fictional characters exist but also seeing them go about their mundane, everyday tasks.

At least Song had managed to get past the stage where she would make strange noises in surprise. Right now, she just stared big and wide. Merlin making pancakes. Then the sound of someone approaching had Song reluctantly tearing her eyes from the sight of Merlin making pancakes to see a… surprisingly unfamiliar face. She did not know him from neither video game nor Disney. In her short stay in this bizarre world, that more often than not meant that the mystery man was an "Earthling" like her. Seeing the supposed Earthling wave, Song returned with one of her own on reflex. Then in came Sora followed closely by Riku. Song's hand dropped and her eyes grew wide. Was she supposed to expect them? She couldn't remember. Too much information and not enough time to process. However, she did remember that the Guardian she had just met seemed very much light-y and Merlin was making pancakes. At least from where she sat now, still staring rudely at Sora as he greeted her and the rest of the newcomers, it made sense. Didn't make it less surprising, though.

Sort of like how Song had reflexively returned the unknown possible Earthling's greeting, Song reflexively returned Sora's greeting. In a voice far quieter than her usual, Song made sure to politely say, "Hi, um, good morning. Sora. Right? Uh… My name is Song. It's nice to meet you, too?". the thought ran through Song's head, confirming solely on his introduction, There was a possibility that maybe she had been mistaken about Riku. she firmly set her mind back on track, preventing it from drifting into the possibilities that this was all fiction, illusion, dream, etc. She had grown used to doing that the past few days.

One was most likely Riku. The other guy she didn't know. It was probably most polite to ask who both were. It could be unnerving if people you didn't know just happened to know who you are. Latching onto the opportunity to speak that the bright eyed boy presented when he greeted Song and the others, Song asked, still very conscious about making a good impression and the effort unintentionally lowering her voice to… Actually, her voice wasn't that much quieter than normal voice level. Song was just unnaturally loud most of the time. Anyways, she directed a question at Sora when she found the best opportunity, "Um, I'm sorry but if you don't mind helping... Who are the others?". Her head would nod over to the others to specify who she meant. This would be Riku and Kyle along with anyone else that would happen to enter the dining room before Sora answered Song's question.

Strangers. Strangers everywhere. It made her more nervous and shy than she was used to, making her more reserved as a result. It usually wasn't this bad, though. Just the… everything that had happened was making it a lot worse. Song would warm up quickly enough, but for now, she was being careful to not annoy anyone, a feat that she knew she succeeded in far too easily.

[Joseph: Disney: Throne Room]

The male had trudged along. He had slept like the dead when he had finally gotten to the room, mainly because his body was too exhausted to do much else.

Now that he was woken up, he was...well. Ish.

He looked rough. Hair unkempt, the dark circles around his eyes prominent. He had pants on, and some kind of mix of a flipflop and a sandal on his feet. He even had a tanktop on so he was 'covered'. But he looked exhausted, every so often rubbing his chest He was better, the Light helping him deal. But he still felt frayed.

He stared at the three new people. Gave them a small wave. Then turned to the food. He sat down, hard, almost like a 'flump'. He looked at the people again, watching them, almost studying them. Then grabbed a small stack of pancakes with some syrup on them and started eating.

He was berserker of sorts, he figured. But he was pretty sure that had nothing to do with how he was just scarfing his food down. That had more to do with not really caring about 'social etiquette' cause he was so damn hungry and not feeling at one-hundred percent yet. So he also didn't really care if people stared at him. But he was awake. And he was more aware than he seemed.

[ Feather : Disney : Rooms -> Throne Room ]

Delicious fluffy UFO shaped cakes, because pancakes are already UFO shaped to begin with. Feather was downing them at a…rather slow rate because they eat extremely slow due to body size and the point of always making sure all flavours are mended and chewed thoroughly. There was a stack of pancakes in front of them on another plate, but on their eating plate they had one being cut with a knife and fork into rather organized pieces to line up with each other so when they are forked together it makes a nice stack. A syrup bowl was in place next to the plate as Feather carefully dips each forkful into it so they don’t hit that critical syrup absorption point that turns the pancakes into a sticky paste. That always happens when they put syrup on top.

Mini Doom Cat Bus Train was sitting next to her on the chair, consuming bacon strips for no reason. Once the bacon strips past through MDCBT’s ‘mouth’ it gets stuck in the back part of the summon, creating streams of bacon trails that line up resembling one very annoying internet meme. This is mostly for Feather’s amusement.

When a man walked in and waved at them without a word, Feather just almost did a hand salute wave moment while chewing through another mouthful of pancakes. It was more sideways than the normal hand salute from the forehead out, diagonal really.

The kicker was when Sora and Riku walked in and Feather in all their attempts to not do dumb things, other known as trying to not remove one of their items from the bucket list due to definitely not making good impressions if they tried, but instead just waved the fork on their hand at the two.

“Hoi! I’m looking for my friends, have you seen them around? I got separated during the Earth getting dropped into the toilet bowl of darkness and being flushed into the sewers of who knows what nothingness. There are two of them, I’m sure they both would have made it here somehow knowing them.”

Feather instead went for semi joke/truth retort which was to nearly mirror some of the first lines said by Sora about Riku and Kairi. Another thing Feather had breezed through their mind was they should introduce themselves….but Song already did and Feather really rather they ask for names because it’s going to be more fun with their ever shifting name. Thank you Chinese name with no English Preferred on their birth certificate, you have made telling people that Feather’s name is Bob or Father Mother Kenya just exponentially more hilarious because it is true.

With a large smirk that normally just looks like a grin but the corners of their lips definitely are quirked up farther than a normal smile, Feather waits for a reaction but still goes back to the pancakes. Cold pancakes are the bane of their existence, along with everything else but cold food for foods that should be hot is one of them.

Another man walked in and started devouring food without a word as well. Though Feather had to give him a thumb up at the maximum level pancake inhalation, one day they wish to reach the true limit of eating speeds without sacrificing favour enjoyment.

[ Sora : Disney : Throne Room ]

"They'll introduce themselves after they all arrive, don't worry," Sora replied to Song, looking back. "The one in a t-shirt is Kyle, and the one eating pancakes like it'll be his last meal is Joseph. You can call him Joe, but we have another person who's name is actually Joe, so careful with it."

He sat down next to her and watched Genie get even more enthusiastic about his cooking. Bacon flying through the air, eggs being scrambled and turned into omelettes and being done sunny-side-up all at once with half a dozen arms...

"And yes, that silver-haired silent-type is Riku," he said without even taking his eyes off, grinning.

"As far as your friends," Sora began, cringing at Feather not because it was weird, but because... well, that was inevitably going to be crushing. "We have quite a few Earthlings, but... if the sheer number of people on your planet is what they keep telling me, I think it might be... unlikely your friends managed to make it here. They might be with the Guardian, though?"

[Dani :~: Disney :~: Throne Room]

Dani stretched her arms as she slowly entered the throne room. Currently her attire was very casual in comparison to what she wore on the battlefield. She was wearing red plaid sweat pants, black slippers, and a white tank top. The white tank top of course hidden by a black hoodie with the image of leviathan coiling around a heartless symbol. What was really different was the red and black glasses that rest on the bridge of her nose.

Pushing up her glasses she noted that she was one of the two other earthlings currently in the room and quietly sat down at the table next to Joseph grabbing two pieces of toast with butter and a good portion of bacon. She looked around still not really paying attention before grabbing milk and pouring it into a glass besides her. She added the final touch of adding a straw into the drink before sipping from the straw.

It suddenly clicked in her head as she looked around that there were three people she did not recognize. “Oh dear god we are multiplying like bunnies!” Dani thought and had to hold back a chuckle. She watched Joseph give a wave to the newbies and decided with a small wave of her own.

“Good morning Joseph.” Dani quietly whispered to Joseph, still keeping an eye on the new people and their interactions with Sora. Her food on her plate was only partially eaten at this point due to lack of hunger and nervousness.

{Bobbi, Demyx, Zell, Nanaki, Yuffie .:. Disney Castle .:. Throne Room}

Bobbi’s sleep had been restful, if plagued by vague nightmares that she could not recall. Still, she woke up feeling well-rested and refreshed, completely awake and aware and ready to take on the world.

It was weird.

~:Good morning, child,:~ Shiva crooned, and Bobbi felt the soothing chill of her Esper’s smile wash over her. The icy archer stretched, listening to the faint popping sound of her spine, and sent a wordless good morning back to Shiva before she swung her legs out of the bed.

She cocked her head to one side as she listened to Merlin’s message. Immediately she felt a wash of excitement; four new people? Even better, four new Earthlings? She’d been blessed enough that Dawn, James, and Michelle had been part of this adventure. She knew some of her loved ones were with the Guardian of Light, but she hadn’t gone to see them. Would any of these four be another of her friends from home? Who would it be, if so? Steve? Patricia? Evan?

I refuse to be disappointed if it’s none of them, she told herself, and hopped to her feet. She let her dressphere reclothe her, simple jeans and a T-shirt, nothing fancy, and headed down to the Throne Room, breakfast, and introductions.

She met up with the others filing in, marveling at the wide-open ginormodoors, and gave a two-fingered salute in greeting to the new people. She gave a slight chuckle and shook her head at Sora and his enthusiasm, and headed a little further down the table. Not too far from the others, but at least three seats between her and someone else, that was her comfort zone.

"Good morning~" she sing-songed to the room at large. As others introduced themselves and Bobbi settled into her seat, she spotted the results of Genie’s bacon cooking, and immediately heaped a ton of it on her place. "Genie I love you." She listened to the others talking, finished chewing the strip of bacon in her mouth, and swallowed.

"Wish I could tell Sora to stop being a party-pooper, but he’s right," she said. "There’s maybe twenty, twenty five of us out of how many billion? But don’t worry, finding them and fixing this mess is why we’re all here. I’m Bobbi, by the way."

Demyx groaned and shoved his head back under his pillow. It was his day off, darn it! He’d just decided! No work for him today. No Earthlings, no saving-the-world shenanigans, none of it. Just a day of lazing about, playing his sitar, and doing absolutely nothing productive, just the way he liked it.

His stomach gave a loud gurgle and began kicking him in the spine.

"Uuuuuugh, but breakfast means getting up," he protested. His stomach growled louder. "Nooooooooooooo." Another growl, this one decidedly angry. No fair that his stomach got the emotions and he didn’t! But the growling empty stomach was making a good argument, so he got up and dressed and headed downstairs. He grumbled a good morning to the room, snagged whatever food was closest, and plopped his butt down into an empty seat well away from everyone else. Maybe if he stayed far away he couldn’t get sucked into any more of those icky situations like yesterday.

Zell was already up and about when Merlin’s message came over the charms. He’d been doing some training, and washed up before he headed upstairs. He was interested in meeting these four new people, and breakfast sounded like a good idea anyway.

"Ready for breakfast, buddy?" he asked the large, red, leonine person who had been watching him train.

"And to meet these new Earthlings, yes," Nanaki said. He got to his feet and stretched before he joined Zell with making their way to the Throne Room. Zell gave a hearty good morning as they entered, while Nanaki simply made his way to a seat.

"Glad to see some new faces around here," Zell said as he heaped a plate with anything within arms reach. Without being asked, he loaded a bunch of breakfast meats—ham, bacon, sausages, you name it—onto a plate and presented it to Nanaki.

Yuffie was up and out of bed in record time after Merlin’s message. New people? Score! She dressed and practically bounced down the halls and the stairs, only to skid to a halt right in the middle of the open double doors. She posed, and crowed "The Great Ninja Yuffie has arrived! I—ooooh, are those pancakes?"

Distracted by breakfast, Yuffie plonked herself down in the seat right next to who she guessed was one of the new people, given she had no idea who this mysterious new guy was. She grabbed a plate and slapped at least six syrup-slathered pancakes, one of the omelettes Genie had just made, and some bacon onto it. She gave a quick "hi" to her new seat-mate, and dug into breakfast with gusto.

[Dawn : Disney Castle : Throne Room]

Dawn's sleep, though peaceful, was not as restful as she would of hoped. She still felt drained mentally. The emptiness that she felt without Garuda's voice comforting her didn't help at all.

The dancer was not at all ready for the wake up call in the morning. She may of had the name of the sun rising, but she was never a morning riser.

"It is too early," she said with a grumble pulling her blankets over her head trying to ignore the pull the charms. Then her door opened when one of the brooms came in to get her. She threw her pillow at it with a huff and stared at it. Which it stared back. Which she thought it did. It didn't blink or anything. Just the handle stood there unfazed.

'I must be tired. I am having a staring contest with a broom. A magical broom, but a broom none the less.' she thought with a sigh and got out of her bed.

The dancer went over to the vanity and brushed out her hair before grabbing a hair tie and pulling her hair back. Dawn was wearing a light blue tank top that had a white cat on the front and the text 'MEOW'. and a pair of blue pj's pants with sleeping cats print. She put on a pair of socks before walking to the throne room.

A few people were already there eating by the time she got there. Some Dawn didn't know, but she didn't seem to take notice as she took the open seat next to Bobbi. The dancer then proceeded to lay her head down on her friend's chest.

"Boobie..." she mumbled as she closed her eyes.

[ Song : Disney : Rooms -> Throne Room ]

Song nodded, sheepishly agreeing to what Sora said about the others introducing themselves as they came in, "Oh, um, right. Thank you." For a while, she returned to her food, furtively glancing up whenever a new somebody entered the room. she tried at least marginally to memorize the names. Although, she didn't hope for much. She was always terrible with monikers. Despite what Sora said, most of the people who came in didn't introduce themselves. They went about their business. Though, they usually did express some sort of reaction the newcomers. Song added new names to the list to memorize, . And there the names went. Straight out of Song's head, but she felt that she would rather be caught dead than have to ask again. she comforted herself, .

Her thoughts, plentiful as they were, were mostly obscured by her poking and eating of her food. She had picked it up alongside Feather, the one familiar face in this room, but hadn't vigorously started eating it upon sitting down. In fact, she was only starting to now. There were pancakes on her plate, like everyone else, and eggs and bacon. A glass of milk and a banana she had somehow managed to work up the guts to ask for sat besides her plate.

First were little bits and sips of just about everything but the banana. Then Song took one of her two pancakes and pushed it to the side of her plate, where it would be left untouched until she was ready for it. The other one was cut into very small pieces, smaller than even bite size. She did the same with the bacon. The menial task, while time consuming and normally annoying, helped Song to not have to think about anything. In time likes this, that always helped. Once everything was chopped/torn into small pieces, she piled the pieces on top of each other and put the egg over it. Then down came the fork through the center of the egg, tearing that as well and mixing everything together. This was her makeshift compromise for breakfast because she was actually feeling like eating rice mixed with eggs today. That and once the idea popped into her head, she wanted to see what it would taste like.

Preparation done, Song began eating her mishmash of food. It basically tasted the way she expected. Savory for pancakes and a bit of a mush, but the crunch of the bacon gave it a nice balance and she could never hate eggs. Between bites, she drank her milk and flickered her eyes over the rest of the room. Listen rather than speak was a lesson her dad always pounded into her. She figured she might as well also take a page out of the personalities of her quieter characters and simply sit back for a while until she had a better grip on her bearings. More appropriately, until she got bored enough to break through her quiet shell herself.

[Amy : Disney : Rooms -> Balcony -> Throne Room]

Amy was awake before the wave came. Whether from exhaustion or magic, she had a wonderful night's rest and felt completely recharged. She wandered around the castle, found a random balcony, and watched the sun rise–the rest of it, at least. She didn't wake up that early. It was probably seven when she got to the balcony.

Merlin's message drew her away, and she realized she was starting to get hungry. There were four new Earthlings to meet, too, which was interesting. After meeting Joe2 the other day, she wondered if he was the last one, or how many more would show up.

Amy found her way to the throne room. Kyle, Joe, Dani, Bobbi, Dawn, and a host of canons were already there, as well as the three new Earthlings. Meeting new people was always accompanied by a certain amount of anxiety. Lately it hadn't been as crippling as it normally was, which was probably due to her becoming accustomed to meeting and interacting with so many people over the last week. And when your life has been in danger as often as it had been recently, other fears tend to diminish. It helped to realize that she had lived through this–meeting new people–many times before, none the worse for it. She would live through it again. The anxiety was still there, of course, but it helped to destigmatize it (many people feel the same way), and confront it with the knowledge that she'd been through much, much more stressful situations.

She choose eggs, toast, sausage, bacon, and orange juice, and sat across from them (assuming the newcomers were sitting relatively close together). "I always like it when I don't have to cook," Amy said. "It's like being on vacation. I'm Amy. Don't feel bad if you don't remember. There's a ton of us. We really should have name-tags."

[ Luke : Disney Castle : Throne Room ]

It could have gone one of two ways. First option, he could have let his hunger and the fact that he hadn't had cooked food in at least a week take over his brain and body, and chowed down with no self-control, but deal with feeling very embarrassed afterward, and not being able to look anyone in the eye because he just ate in front of people he didn't know. Or, second option, retain self-control and take great care to eat in the least embarrassing way possible, or not at all, while dealing with the half-pain, half-annoyance his stomach was putting him through. Luckily enough for the long-haired man, a third option cropped up: he just wasn't that hungry.

While he would never turn down eggs, the sustenance of the gods - or at least a few of them - and he did have a few on his plate, he could barely think about food at this time. There were far too many things going through his mind and heart, enough for him to make himself sick thinking and worrying. More than anything else, he might need some ginger ale before long. First was the all-encompassing, never-going-away, now-proven fact that he was legitimately inside a Disney-based world - or worlds, rather - and had not been dreaming or hallucinating for the past however long.

Second, he was still going through a very crazy kaleidoscope of feelings after the whole week of thinking everyone he loved was dead, then being shown by the strange mystical guardian-person (which was another number on the list in itself) that they were alive and well. There had been much crying, much laughter, and many of the in-between, "I-don't-know-how-the-eff-I-feel" feelings, just over that simple revelation. Zach, Myah, Keilie, and Ethan were okay. His siblings and cousins were okay. His best friends and the other people he cared about were all okay. Even though he thought that at least one of them had been killed by the Heartless...

Those eyes.

He took in a quick breath involuntarily, then let it out slowly through his nostrils, going about the consumption of his eggs as if nothing had happened. The morning meal and introduction of people he wasn't really listening to went on without a hitch, which was for the better. He would have simply pretended he didn't hear them if someone had asked about the cause of the gasp, anyway. But then a very familiar-looking young woman sat down next to him, and his half-closed lids snapped wide open. He closed his lips tight so that no random exclamation of adoration could escape without his permission, and let out a loud whimper that would have been a jubilant shriek otherwise. He had already had a moment of internally squeeing over Genie not too long ago (ROBIN WILLIAMS IS MAKING ME BREAKFAST WHAT THE HECK!), and would like to keep it internal. If he could manage not to say anything to a character given life by his favorite actor, he would be okay not embarrassing himself in front of the Ninja Princess of Awesomeness.

SWEET HYLIA, THAT'S YUFFIE KISARAGI! She's not even... Probably not even twenty! I'd figure she'd have gotten older with time but-OH GOSH THAT'S SORA AND RIKU. When did they get here? I guess I was that locked in thought. YOU ARE ALL STILL CHILDREN. YOU WERE CHILDREN WHEN I WAS CHILDREN... Er... a child... STOP BEING YOUNGER THAN ME. While this internal dialogue was going on, his cheeks had turned pink, and showed no signs of cooling off, with The Great Ninja Yuffie sitting right beside him. He kept glancing to his side to take in the reality of one of his favorite video game characters having basically walked right out of the television screen. He eventually stopped and went about the business of eating eggs and pondering the hilarious yet beautifully depressing fanfiction accident that had become his life.

Third, there was the war that the Guardian had spoken of. A war! And they wanted him to take part in it. If he hadn't been so blown away in awe of the strange being, he probably would have scoffed upon hearing that. Even if he could build up some confidence in his own strength, which was apparently more than he thought it was, he was a pacifist who couldn't harm a bug without crying about it... But he could hurt the Heartless, couldn't he? He thought they had killed Aaron. Taken his heart. Of course, he hadn't actually seen it happen, because he had been busy running away. But they definitely didn't fail to destroy the Earth.

At some point, the obnoxiously high need for politeness inside his brain would no longer be ignored, and he realized everyone was introducing themselves, and he should probably do the same. He made a sweeping glance around at everyone now present, squeeing internally over the presence of Nanaki and the other video game characters currently present, and nodded. He took in a slow breath, let it go, and cleared his throat.

Am I really gonna tell these people my real name? he thought. Eh, what's the worst that could happen? he answered himself. Every time you say "what's the worst that could happen," the worst always happens, he argued. While his brain rattled on and on about the "what-ifs," he went ahead and spoke up for the first time since his meeting with the Guardian.

"Um... Hi. Nice to meet everybody. I'm... My name is Luke." The last sentence was spoken softer, but hopefully still loud enough to be heard by those around him. He quickly jabbed his fork into one of his half-eaten sunny-side-ups and, brushing his long brown hair away from the right side of his face, shoveled the whole thing into his maw, making it clear that he didn't plan on speaking again for a while, and went on observing everyone while continuing his depressing inner monologue.

[Kyla/ Axel: Disney Castle: Living Quarters> Library> Throne Room]

Waking to the world was an unusual experience now. For the first time in a few days she felt actually refreshed. So the only reason she remained in bed a spell longer was the reluctance to move forward with the day. She stared up at the ceiling, thinking. Events of the past day and half were heavy enough she brought an arm over her face.

‘He’s not going to be there-‘ Was all she thought when the announcement came. There were new New Earthlings to meet, but her brother would not be one of them. More poignantly… it was likely he wouldn’t even if given the opportunity.

~ Go eat something, you’ll feel better.~
she felt the gesture of the caress before the phantasmal avatar of her summon partner appeared. Settling on her stomach like some pet cat. The artist reached out and scratched the silken being behind it’s ears. Carbuncle indulged, tail swishing back and forth in content, pleased to have this simply moment with her in the morning.

~ You were never a morning person.~

“True… but I admit I hate to miss anything.” She finally relented, sitting up in bed. Swinging her bare feet over the side, she stepped out of bed. Crossing to the wash basin she cleaned up a little. Enjoying the small luxuries of magically augmented personal care items and garments. The dressphere adjusted, slightly- It was a tunic dress, the interior one from her full raiment, but it was made with softer more comfortable material to walk around in at her leisure. Funny how it knew what she needed. It wasn’t like she came to this place with a personal wardrobe though, so Kyla was grateful.

After combing out her hair to some presentable kind of flyaway bed head, and placing her glasses on her face, Kyla stepped out of the room with her sandaled feet treading softly on the carpet. A chill from the spaciousness and instantly she had something like a shawl over her shoulders. More ornate- mage-like much? She found herself chuckling.

Carbuncle padded down the hall beside her, and she made detour before coming to the throne room. A simple request and inquiry had the girls arm laden with two books on some elemental study. Kyla was already thinking about improvements to her craft… Users in this world were already established with an abundance of roles. It occurred to be that pulling concepts from her brain alone wasn’t good enough if she wanted to be sure they worked here. Her pictomancy would only work so far, she less bending reality, and more making astute guesses of what ‘could’ exist here and so far had done well enough.

When she came to the throne room entrance she heard voices behind the door. For some unknown reason she hesitated at them, staying just out of sight off to the side. She could hear Sora, Riku, other people she’d met and now new voices joining the chorus.

Something about one of the voices sounded familiar…
But before she could concentrate she was interrupted by a –

“Oi… you gonna go in or what??”

They’d hear a startled yelped from outside the room if they were aware enough, followed by a chuckle as Axel walked in remarking on the silly girl standing outside the door like some ‘manservant’.

“Get on in before the food all gone ‘bookworm’.” He snickered nodding to those who met his eye before taking a seat. At least hunger was still working and the spread was stirring for anyone. He wasted no time reaching for a dish and then spying what he figured he’d fancy.

It was the summon who bounded in first, able to scamper a few feet away from her partner in that state.
Carbuncle stood in the doorway as their ‘person’ came around the corner her nose stuck into one of the books she brought. Mostly to hide her red cheeks whilst she recovered.
