O_o; I truely hated that one, though one of the last areas is most definatly worse. Lots of holes and crap, and to top it all off it's insanely long.
The music for it was kinda interesting though... Now if only I could remember what it was called. sweatdrop

Didn't the last level have a sub boss? The metalic Sonic?
... Or is that Sonic 2? I can remember.

Never could beat that one with out using the debug mode to give myself a bunch of rings. sweatdrop

I forgot the last boss then on Sonic 1.
I can remember completing Sonic 2 'cause you gotta fight that big robot thing.

At least I think that was it. Maybe that was from another game, but I'm pretty sure that I'm thinking correctly.
