{Demyx .:. Disney Castle .:. Bedroom >> Hall of the Cornerstone}

Demyx got tired of the tossing and turning. He was stubbornly holding out against going back to the Cornerstone room—and he had no idea why he thought he had to go down there in the first place. But the thought gnawed at him, in the back of his mind and in the hollow space where his heart was supposed to be. He just knew that going back downstairs would get him wrapped up in some crazy world-saving plot! So he wasn't going to. Nope. Not at all. He was absolutely not getting out of bed. Or going into the hallway. Or going down those stairs—seriously, they looked... okay fine they looked perfectly safe, all well-lit and evenly spaced and just the right height for comfortably walking down, no matter how lanky one's legs might be. Not that his were particularly lanky, considering he was one of the shorter members of the Organization. But he still wasn't going down those stairs.

"What am I doing here?" he whined to himself as he stared at the doors to the Hall of the Cornerstone. He knew perfectly well what he was doing there. He was going in, against his better judgement, despite the risk that he'd get hauled off into danger again. And he was doing that because he had that itch, that vague thought that if he went into the same room with that Cornerstone it would... maybe not stop, but at least start feeling better. And that was weird, because Nobodies didn't have hearts, so they couldn't feel.

But if that was true...

"Aw, we do too have hearts. Don't be mad."

Then why did he say that to Sora all that time ago?

The Melodious Nocturne fidgeted for a moment more, scratching at the back of his head, kicking at the floor, grumbling to himself. All of it just delaying the inevitable.

He opened the door.

[Axel: Disney Castle: Hall of the Cornerstone]

It started as just a sense of awareness easily allotted to whatever was going on in the room, but the more the Dancing Flames looked about, listened, chimed in when it was appropriate or at least feasible to lighten the mood- his gaze shifted more and more back to the cornerstone beyond their cloistered group.

It was- well THERE- but, sure it looked different- maybe but something was off. He couldn’t tell right now but he f-.. he figured it was different enough to warrant his attention. But the more he thought about it, the less he spoke, the more he stared, the more he…ached.

Maybe it was just because he was a nobody and this was THE cornertstone of light and things have happened recently to shift the weird forced about this thing- ….not to mention the literal stirring of the Light as a conscious entity.
Maybe that had something to do with it, was it affecting him maybe more then usual?

Inside… it ached. A sensation he couldn’t put his finger on, but without realizing his seemed to pressed and scratch against his chest like it could fix it that easily. But as his hand dropped and the ache remained, his eyes transfixed on it now- the doors opened behind him and he could see Demyx’s reflection.
He’d come back.
“…ugh…g-guys… um. “ He began to speak but honestly didn’t know what to say.

[Ashley :: ??? :: ??? > ???]
[Cue: Final Fantasy VII - You can hear the Cry of the Planet]

For nearly an hour Ashley continued her rampage through the area. Destroying everything in her path. Boxes? Broken. Glass? Shattered. Heartless? Never stood a chance as her blades and water cut through their bodies and collecting whatever was left behind. She finally went to the computer one last time and tried out a few more passwords. Random words that thought would work but to no avail. “Damn,” Ashley cursed as she slashed through another heartless the side. “I can’t just stay here doing nothing. I guess we are moving to plan b.”

Ashley, after collecting all the munny and objects on the ground from what she slayed, opened a portal and was off to her next destination.

[Cue: Solar Fields - Discovering]

After stepping out of the portal Ashley noticed that she was in an alleyway between two buildings. From what she could tell, the alley was pretty abandoned other than some small broken parts littered near her feet. For now she did not care as she left the alley and came out to a street. She was in awe at the area around her. In comparison to where she was before, the colors were a direct contrast.

Ashley started to walk experimentally to appear normal as she fished in her pockets for the cash that she had “looted” and smirked. “As much as I despise this, “ Ashley thought “I may need to do a little bit of spending. Besides.” She looked at the buildings and the technology all around . “This looks like the perfect place to get started.”

[ Hall of the Cornerstone...? ]

When no one in particular spoke up besides to show concern over Kyla, Yen Sid nodded (mostly to himself).

"You're all quite exhausted, to be sure. Talk can wait," he began, only for Demyx to stroll in, with Lexaeus following behind. The two of them looked to almost be frustrated or confused—and then Axel spoke up, sounding the way they looked. The sorcerer's eyes narrowed, his body imperceptibly tensing.

"What is going on?" he asked, suspicion clear in his tone and expression. They'd had so much going on in one night that he would not risk another incident, once-allies or not. His hands, still behind his back, began to curl slightly—

—and then the Kingdom Key suddenly appeared in Sora's hand, shocking the young man as much as anyone else.

"What in the world?"

The boy was clearly confused, looking at the key, watching as light slowly began to glimmer at the blade's end. The three nobodies, meanwhile, seemed drawn to the boy, and though that might have raised suspicions, their hypnotized gait was anything but hostile.

Besides, before they could even call their own weapons, the Cornerstone seemed to flicker with the briefest spark, at once bright and distant. Yen Sid twisted back toward the stone, his stony expression wrought to little more than uncertain anxiety as he stepped away, looking back and forth between its twisting light and the young Sora.

"Uh, master?" he called out, sounding briefly terrified. Even holding the weapon in two hands, he struggled to maintain control as the weapon swiftly raised, pointing toward the Cornerstone. The flicker happened again, and this time they could all see in the dim light... a keyhole.

Suddenly, a hand clasped his left shoulder, and he twisted to look over at Demyx, his eyes glowing a strange, fluctuating silver.

"But don't be afraid."

A two-toned voice, at once Demyx and some other, androgynous entity, spoke to Sora with words as if from a memory, calm and reassuring. A voice seemed to echo across the room, faded as though through a veil:

"Can it be...?"

The light burning at the Keyblade's end seemed to burn brighter in response, and then Lexaeus was at his right side, towering over him and placing a hand on his shoulder—his eyes glowing the same marble-silver, his words both his and someone else's:

"You hold the mightiest weapon of all."

As Sora's weapon grew as luminant as a star, his body radiant, the flickering intensified behind the keyhole, light beginning to stir more rapidly—

"Is it truly you..."

—as Axel was at Sora's side, placing an arm on the shorter young man's arm, squeezing it with purpose.

"So don't forget..."

Sora once more looked forward, the smallest flash of realization crossing his features before eager determination set in; these words had replayed in his dreams for years now, first heard on that beach, that sunny day that seemed so impossibly long ago. The Keyblade was pure light now, no longer just a Kingdom Key but some entrancing silhouette of pulsing luminescence.

"... old friend?"

He knew the words even before the three Nobodies, possessed as they were, spoke in unison:

"You are the one who will open the door."

A thin stream of light burst from the blade's end, striking the Keyhole, which suddenly grew wider, taller, rectangular—

—and blinding.

When the light finally faded and their senses returned, the Cornerstone was gone, and in its place upon the pedestal... was a person. Their lower body was sideways, as if they had been lying on their side, but they held themselves upright gazing out toward the gathered viewers. Their form was largely obscured by white, gossamer-like robes that covered nearly every inch of their form, from ankles to shoulders and curling around their head to form a sort of white hood, keeping their face from view. It was impossible to tell if this entity was masculine or feminine, or—frankly—if such terms could even apply.

Whoever they were, however, they seemed utterly exhausted, barely able to keep themselves up.

As for the Nobodies, they would feel utterly dazed, as if they were worn out and shaken. Not out of fear, per se, but as if their bodies had been under such immense pressure that now, free of it, they were almost too light, too weightless.

Sora stood there in simple awe. Yen Sid looked equally stunned, his jaw hanging just slightly loose as he gaped at the figure.

Merlin, off to the side, was perhaps the most visually shocked of all. He exhaled a shaky breath and practically collapsed, a chair just barely appearing beneath him in time to catch him.

The entity shuddered, as if cold.

"So," they said just above a whisper, the voice as genderless as their form, but very clearly the same voice that had spoken to them before, "you are the ones who have awakened and freed me."

[Kyla: Disney Castle: Hall of the –not so stony anymore- Cornerstone]

Color her every hue of curious and surprise.
“…so… it’s become an entity as well or... always has been?” The implication of being freed lended itself to speculation that the stone was not always a stone? To be woken might imply there was something capable of being asleep.

She rose to her feet some time in caution just from watching the nobodies circle around Sora in their entranced stupor. Those said nobodies bumbled around like they were on some kind of high. No doubt, if that thing was maybe possessing them- it would be something to experience. But why them? Had they changed- or were always capable of this?

Or perhaps were nobodies always a suitable entity to for possession by something so overwhelming. Would a normal heart collapse under such presence?

Torn between answering

She felt it was too rude to say nothing, ignoring the being, but felt too unprepared to say anything intelligent in response to their statement.

“-umm, assuming I can speak on some sensibilities regarding what could possibly be going on here…

--Maybe?”

To say yes would assume it was indeed addressing them all. The process to awaken, and bring into being something like this from the cornerstone seemed more complicated than the sum of the statement. Even now, it felt like a mystery after such a long winded discussion. But if this was born from the stone, connected to light and hearts then perhaps, if anyone could make such a statement with some validity, it WOULD be this- this person.
She shuffled uncomfortably, coughing a little.

“-b-but that’s a big leap on my part. If you say so…you seem like someone who'd know. But- uh- are you alright?”

The figure’s shiver did not go unnoticed. If it had been a rock for some time- the shift could be disorienting. Kyla couldn’t fathom would it might feel like. And now that they were here- what was going to happen to this place?

[ Hall of the Light ]

"Better than I've been in many, many years, Kyla," they spoke, and though their face was hidden, a smile could be felt in the tone of their voice. "Thank you for your concern."

"Um... can you maybe... explain what's going on for the rest of us?" Sora asked, only shortly after realizing his weapon was still out and dismissing it.

"Yes, I think that would be quite lovely," Merlin chimed in, still in a daze, staring at the entity as well as through them, his expression akin to a thousand yard stare.

"I will try, though I fear my mind is still... quite hazy. And you have all had such a long day," they responded, beginning to slide over to the edge of the pedestal so that they could stand. At the motion, Yen Sid was instantly at their side, offering help and summoning a chair—more akin to a study's large chair or a plush throne—for them to sit in. They grasped onto Yen Sid's arm, and it was as though all his tension simply... washed away. "Thank you, Yen Sid. For so much."

He did not speak, but he nodded, guiding them to the chair a few feet away.

"I will keep things short. I am the Guardian of Light," they began, placing their hands together on their legs as they sat more comfortably. "Many eons ago, I... misstepped, and the Guardian of Darkness struck me down, imprisoning my main remnants in the form of the Cornerstone, trapping my mind in a cycle of nightmare. Many fragments spread throughout the cosmos across generations. Seven of them found young maidens pure of heart. Many others seem to have found you survivors of Earth. It is why we have felt such a bond; why you were able to awaken me earlier tonight.

"But freeing me required more. It required the powers of a Guardian, and it would seem the third has endeavored to help us,"
they said, looking at the three Nobodies and Sora. "Three vessels, channeling power into you."

"It was... strange. I had always thought opening the door to light was... well, something I'd done two years ago," Sora said, scratching his head. "And this... it wasn't light, it wasn't darkness, but it wasn't just magic, either."

"Apparently that little prophecy went further than even I'd seen in my nightmares," they spoke. "What you channeled was the essence of balance..."

Their voice trailed off, staring more intently at the Nobodies. Those watching could feel a gentle sadness. "If they worked through you, rather than coming themself, then I fear something has happened to the third Guardian, as well," they said, voice low before picking back up. "Still, that is the summary."

[Delia : Hati ~ Paris ~ Tea Room]

Hati nodded graciously, the traces of a smile on her lips, "I understand, and am glad to see you have enough mind to mull it over--a good trait. Take all the time you need, this offer will not expire so long as you remain on my good side."

She placed her teacup back on its saucer and stood from her plush seating. Delia stood with her and at her side, knowing it would be her job to escort Saint out. Hati held her hand out for Saint to shake.

"Keep me informed. Until then, Delia will show you out. I just request that you not use a dark portal until you're out of my manor, they really throw off the beautiful vibrations this place has."

[Nicholas <> Disney <> Hall of the Light]

Well, isn't this a plot twist worthy of song?

Except Nicholas has exorcised a possessive demigod from his body, fought one of the previously mentioned demigod's brethren, did some hokey light magic baloney, and now watched as a contained being of Light just appeared and kicked off what might be the next bit of insanity. The bard was about two seconds from just saying "fukkit" and going to bed, but the words of the Guardian of Light caught his attention.

So, we have the Guardian of Light here, there's a Guardian of Darkness, and a third. Balance? Some form of neutrality? But...wait!

"Okay, okay, okay. I'm just spitballing here, but I had a thought. So, Guardian of Light was trapped within the Cornerstone of Light. If that's the case, my guess would be that the Guardian of Darkness is within the Cornerstone of Darkness with the villains in their little hideaway. As for the third Guardian... it's the Guardian of Balance, right? Would they be sealed within the elemental crystals? Because if that's the case, I... met one of their protectors?"

Nicholas swallowed, scratching the back of his head and letting out a long breath of air. "I mean, if that's the case, we could check in with him? He might still be in New Orleans when I last saw him? Or am I incorrect? I've been here, like, twenty minutes. I'm likely talking out of my a**."

[ Hall of the Light ]

All eyes turned to the new stranger, recruit, and turncoat as he spoke up after doing everything he could to avoid their attention. Kyle in particular was giving Nicholas a narrowed, inspecting stare.

"They are the Guardian of Balance, correct," they spoke, tilting their head somewhat, though they brought a small hand up to hold the side of their cloaked head, as if nursing a headache. The hand's skin was a soft, olive tone, impossible to truly identify one way or another (assuming race was even a concept that could be applied). "However, I do not... recall them being tied in any way to particular elements, which would make any such connection to elemental crystals confusing. The Cornerstone evoked light because that was my essence. And if there is a Cornerstone of Darkness, I... That doesn't..."

They grew silent, save for a low groan as something wracked them.

"I was only within this Cornerstone because it was a large fragment of my power, and I was trapped there. The other two... There are too many missing pieces," they said, seeming almost exasperated. "There are so many other crystals in the worlds, however—crystals are the natural manifestation of solidified magic power. I cannot see how it would be possible for us all to be like this, but if the Guardian of Balance has somehow been broken down into base elements..."

"Well... they call it a Cornerstone of Darkness," Kyle chimed in, though it was hardly enthusiastic. "Moreso out of irony and... a sense of vindictiveness, though, I think; it's a large chunk of deifacted—er, 'godmade' nethicite, or dark crystal. And if what we've been facing in the past 24 hours is connected at all to the Guardian of Darkness, then they were definitely connected to that stone. Ajora got the feeling it was less something 'inside' the stone and more something... beyond it? If that makes sense."

"It does. We do not... did not normally exist on this level of reality... I think," they said, growing hesitant in thought. "If it was truly connected, then they may be using it as a physical means to affect the worlds. Which would explain the seeds and their growing presence. Still, I... am not sure. I have been ensnared for so long."

{Bobbi, Zell, Demyx, Nanaki .:. Disney Castle .:. Hall of the Cornerstone Light}

Bobbi frowned, brows knitting as she studied the Guardian as they spoke. She didn't miss the hand holding their head, or their groan. So many signs of weakness or pain. How much of that was simply because they had just woken up from a ridiculously long nap? And how much of that was because they were still fragmented? If fragments of the Guardian's very self rested with her and the rest of her friends, as well as the Princesses of Heart, how much more could also be missing? She was reminded very strongly of Louis, and harboring the fraction of his heart in the form of Innocence.

The icy archer reached up with one hand to press her fingers over her heart, wondering what was so special about it that anyone would seek residence in it. Or was she... had they truly been specifically sought out? Had it been a deliberate choice that lead the shards to her and the others? Or was it all just happenstance, and she wasn't truly special, just convenient? She wanted to ask, but the conversation had moved on, and as the others spoke, her thoughtful frown deepened.

"What can we do?" she asked, her voice filled with a tired determination. "How do we help?" The idea of a Guardian of Balance called to her almost more than anything else in this crazy world had. She wanted—no, she needed to assist this Guardian in any way she could. If she was just a convenient means to an end, that was okay, really. But she thought, somewhere in the deepest recesses of her heart, that maybe she was here for a reason. And this reason was it.

Light and Darkness working together in harmony, tempered by Balance... That was right. That felt right. She was exhausted, and battered both inside and out, and her family was still out there, somewhere, and she needed to get them home. But this was important, too.

Zell was a little shaken by the events that had happened, and had no real idea of how to react to them. There were a thousand things he could say, a thousand things he could do, but none of them came to mind. Half formed questions danced in his head, voiced by others before he could even get them to coherency. The monk had to admit that the more time he spent with these Earthlings, the more things seemed to go right over his head. Now there were Guardians of Light, Darkness, and Balance? Things were so much simpler when he was conducting a train to transport a bunch of displaced kids trying to find answers...

Demyx shook the hand that had clasped Sora's shoulder, as if it tingled. It didn't, in fact everything seemed to be perfectly... normal. A little weightless, maybe, almost like he could float off at the slightest breeze. And he was exhausted, sure, even more so than he had been before he'd tried to sleep. But that possession hadn't been anywhere near as bad as what the Darkness had done to them in that fight. Whatever happened, it had worn him out, but it hadn't been malevolent. The Melodious Nocturne opened his mouth a time or two, but had no idea what to say. It wasn't like he'd been completely out of it during the whole... ceremony? Was that the right word? He knew what had happened, it was just that he had no idea what it meant. But hey, at least he'd been useful to something on the side of good, whatever that something was. A Guardian of Balance, working through him, Axel, and Lexaeus...

Was that warmth in his chest happiness? But Nobodies couldn't feel. And even if they could, why would he be happy about this?

He realized he'd been silent for far, far longer than was characteristic, shook himself all over, and lightly slapped both sides of his face.

"Man," he said to no one in particular. "When things get weird around here, they get weird. But, uh... Yeah, I got nothing. Other than what the heck was that?!"

Nanaki's hackles took a little time to lower. Sora's Keyblade appearing in his hand shortly after the Nobodies' entrance had startled him just as much as anyone else. He listened to the newcomer—the Guardian of Light?—and the others as they spoke. Head cocked to one side, Nanaki studied the Guardian, assessing their words and actions. So much of what they said was vague, open-ended. He knew that much of that vagueness must come from their very self still being fragmented, however...

"What did you mean by you 'misstepped?'" he asked on the heels of Bobbi's questions. "And what is this prophecy you speak of?"

[ Hall of the Light ]

When Bobbi spoke up, the Guardian seemed to pause momentarily, turning to glance in her direction, and though their face remained hidden, the empath would easily feel the soft smile.

"Everything you've done has helped. All I can say for certain is to keep following your hearts. All I've seen of these times, I've seen through a veil of misdirection and deceit. I cannot yet discern between the truths and the lies... that will take time," they spoke, nodding. "What I know to be true is that you must oppose this growing shadow. This is not the way things are meant to be... this is not the Darkness I once knew. Perhaps, if we can find the Guardian of Balance... they might have answers. And they seem to be connected to you Nobodies."

They turned now to Demyx. "Neither Light nor Darkness, your essence is likely perfectly suited for the powers of the Guardian of Balance, unnatural as you may be," they said. "The implications... I cannot possibly unravel right now. Perhaps in your travels you will come across more clues to their whereabouts."

When Nanaki spoke up, however, the atmosphere shifted... tangibly. The entity seemed to shrink, not literally, but as if weighed upon by some burden of shame.

"The prophecy was... an echo, more than anything. A recurring thought in my dreams, a thread that I kept returning to before being pulled away," they said, turning now to Yen Sid. "Perhaps it defies causation. I heard your voice, proclaiming that Sora would be the one to open the door to light. I foresaw this young boy, so tangled in events that had so little to do with him by happenstance. And I think, perhaps, that it was this recurring dream that inspired your words at all."

"That is the case," Yen Sid said, nearly a whisper. "When I read the stars to understand his place in all these schemes, I noticed the strange thread of importance."

"And since starlight is the glimmering of distant world hearts and light," Riku added, his voice trailing off.

"So it would seem," the Guardian said, nodding. "I had merely understood it to be his discovering of the door out of the realm of darkness with yourself two years ago. It would seem the Guardian of Balance, however, had other designs..."

Their voice faded, once again in hesitance as they turned back to Nanaki, their head bowed.

"As long as there had been hearts and consciousness, there had been conflict between the dark and the light, between the self and the unified. This is simply the way of things. We were in place to ensure that certain things did not come to pass, with the Guardian of Balance as an arbiter between," they spoke, their voice controlled, neutral. "There was never any personal contention; we were like siblings, or good friends, tasked with watching over the world. But then, before the age of fairy tales as you might call it... I noticed a change in the Guardian of Darkness, and in the world at large. Malign forces began to favor the shadows, began to use them almost as naturally as they would any other force of the world. You must understand, we have no part in morality, and yet it was beginning to seem as though such a spectrum was being forced upon us by the people themselves, unknowing as they were.

"I grew concerned. I spoke to each of them, trying to explain my worries, that perhaps the Darkness was going too far, or perhaps that we should intervene on behalf of the world to ensure a balance was maintained. Neither saw it necessary; there were always ebs and flows in world's lifespan,"
they continued. "But the world scales continued to dip. I began to suspect that the Guardian of Darkness was overstepping their bounds, and so... and so..."

They took a breath to steady themself.

"We could affect the world, but I could not fathom something from the world affecting us. Believing the other Guardian had already broken the rules in secret, I attempted to tip the scale back toward balance... and I sought to make Kingdom Hearts light."

[Axel: Disney Castle: Hall of Light]

Axel was quiet a long time. There was no motive to emote something artificial- not while genuine sensations were wreaking havoc in a space once vacant. When he and the other nobodies were released her stood there with hazy eyes, swaying slightly as if waking form some drugged stupor. He felt…felt..good…warm. In light of such void, absence this presence felt- it FELT… at the very least, pleasant. And perhaps pleasant in the simple sense it was anything other then nothing!

When Demyx spoke up, that ‘being’ addressed him and finally his gaze shifted to actually focus on the “Light”, listening.

And then it dropped.

“- you sought to make Kingdom Hearts – light? You don’t mean that quack was right about it originally being darkness do you?” Or maybe that wasn’t it- maybe it was neither?

Finally some emoting, concern, whether genuine or fake- his figured it would be his appropriate response. He didn't think being susceptible to being possessed by this 'Balance' was so great, though... it was the closest he ever felt to actually feeling. "Did this err- Balance- have anything to do with that?"

[Kyla]

"Will they be alright too? The nobodies I mean." Kyla spoke up again, having listened as well and wondering what this would mean for the nobodies. What would Balance do them? Would this happened again? If so, what long term effects would this have on them? She shifted her glance to regard Axel as if posing to question. He started to wave her off as if it wasn't a big deal.

"Kingdom Hearts was neither light nor dark. It was... a heart. And like all hearts, it had bits of both," they responded to Axel's first query. "It was at once the heart of all worlds, the heart of all hearts, and the heart of the cosmos. Or... perhaps there were three? I'm not... hmm."

"I'm not sure what you mean, as far as to what the Guardian of Balance might have had to do with something. With Kingdom Hearts? Yes, all three of us were charged with its sanctity. With my punishment? No, I believe the Guardian of Darkness reacted solely on their own," they said, lowering their head in thought. However, at Kyla's question, their head rose again.

"I cannot say. Indeed, my only familiarity with such existences, or lackthereof, I've gathered in sleep and twisted dream," they spoke, though they once again turned to the Nobodies. "Still, I have a hunch a greater will exists behind them than they realize. After all, perhaps my dreams deceived me, but... had you twelve not faded into nothingness but two years past? And yet, here you stand, not remade whole but half-lives once more. I had thought the heart and body would find themselves again in such a time. How did you return in this state?"

[[ Reminder: All Nobodies returned on the day the Convergence happened (one month and one week ago), just... waking up in random places, sometimes where they died, sometimes just any location. ]]

[Dawn : Hall of Light]

Dawn remained silent as people questioned to the Guardian within that is, was-she wasn't sure what tense to call it, nor was she awake enough to really care- the cornerstone.

"So what do you do now?" Dawn asked in a soft voice as she rested her head on her arms that were laid out on the arm rest of her chair her eyes never leaving the Guardian, "I mean you are free now. You should be able to be something." she paused a moment before she continued, "And second, what do we call you? Is Guardian of Light your only name?"

{Bobbi, Demyx, Zell, Nanaki, .:. Hall of the Light}

Bobbi felt warm all the way down to her toes at the Guardian’s smile. She couldn’t see it, sure, but she didn’t need to. They had such presence, unlike anyone else she had ever met. She didn’t need to see facial expressions or body language to know how anyone felt, but They were even easier to read, somehow. As if They were more real than anyone else…

She shook her head a little to clear it of her reverie, and focused in again on what the Guardian was saying. She nodded; it made sense. If the Guardian of Light had been imprisoned for millennia, and the Guardian of Darkness was corrupt, then the Guardian of Balance, who stood to mediate between the two, would be the logical choice for answers. She turned to look at the Nobodies as well—mostly to see their reactions, and to hear their answers.

Demyx blew out a breath, and shuffled in place when the Guardian’s regard turned to him. He thought back, because they posed an excellent question. How did he come back to life? Er, un-life? Existence, that was it. He remembered fading into nothingness at Sora’s hands… was it two years ago? Did time even matter when he didn’t exist?

"Ah, good question," Demyx admitted after a moment, not realizing Dawn had asked a different question entirely. "It’s been a little over two months now, but I don’t… I don’t remember. D’you?" The question was directed to Axel and Lexaeus
