I'm conducting an absolutely pointless survey.

Do you recognize this shape?
ZELDA OPENING MAP FIRST GAME WOOO!

Also: dang, now you got me wanting to go play it. D:

GETTING TO THE GRAVEYARD FOR THE MAGIC SWORD IS ALWAYS A PAIN IN THE REAR. (But only cause I like to skip ahead of all the dungeons 8D)

Facinating.

So far only 3 people (besides me) have recognized it, and they've all been male (and the only 3 males to guess).

All of the girls so far have said it looks like a house.

I think this says something very distinct about our childhoods. 0_0

My first impression was that it was a screen from an RPG game, but I've never played Zelda games so I couldn't have said which one.

If not for my mom being an uber-gamer-nerd when I was a teeny little kid, I might not know what that screen was of. rofl So I've got a mom to thank for my starting videogame knowledge.

I wasn't allowed to play video games before my brother... So I never got to play Zelda until Ocarina of Time.

Likewise. I grew up with the Zelda tune playing in the background. Mom beat the game on both regular and second quest without a strategy guide while I was still an infant. Mario and Final Fantasy I was also a staple.

She's playing the Virtual Console version as I type this. The Wii really DOES bring family together!

The Wii really DOES bring family together!

Except when the mom (mine, in this case) develops such a severe case of fear and anxiety that she literally is unable to play new games such as Super Mario Galaxy and completely refuses to attempt any boss battles, no matter how easy. She gets really bad shakes from that, too, so even if she were to attempt, with the Wii, she might make more mistakes than not.

She does, however, enjoy watching me kick a boss's a** and think nothing of it while doing so. xd

I tried getting my mom to play Smash Bros, Zelda 64, and Final Fantasy VII, but she didn't do too well.

She did, however, enjoy playing FF: Crystal Chronicles with me.

My mom still enjoys Twilight Princes... The GameCube version... at least before my little sister snapped it in half. x-x; ( Though I have to beat the bosses in that game, too. XD )

Strangely, mom also loves watching me play Halo.

My dad was the gamer of the family. Not many would know about Shining in the Darkness that Sega had. It was a first person RPG. x3 My dad also had the first playstation, but Wil took that when he moved.

My first impression was "What is that...". xd I watched people play the original Zelda games, back when I was like 6, so my memory is sketchy.
