If you actually hit "unsubscribe" on the spam e-mail you get... you stop getting it!
So awesome. I'd like to unsubscribe NekoThing from life. Where's that button?

There's also available for some automated phone solicitors, an option to remove yourself from their list too.

'course, if there's no unsubscribe/remove/stop link then you're stuck. Luckily for me most of it was removable.
