"Food value?" Dari asked. He looked over and sandwich questioningly. Peanut butter and white stuff. Hm. "The first things I ever ate of my own volition were the bottom of a glass beaker and a section of stainless steel table."
He took a bite and immediately brightened, then checked the sandwich again.
"What is that?!"
Toby didn't buy Fluff at home. He thought Maia would overdose.

Cody grinned. Dari's reaction was priceless. "That's marshmallow fluff," he said. "I bought a jar for you," he said. "Good, right?"

Dari nodded. "I've seen that stuff in stores." Going to the grocery store had been a big exciting ordeal when he'd first gotten his ring. "It's good! I didn't think it would be that spreadable and still be... marshmallow-y." He took another bite.
"Mm. Thank you, love."

Cody grinned. He kissed Dari's cheek, then took a sandwich out for himself. "Glad you like it, darling." He offered Dari a soda. "Bad thing about those though, they get stuck to the top of your mouth."

"There is nothing bad about these," Dari said with a smile. He then immediately had to pry some off of the roof of his mouth and his facial expression said so. He laughed slightly and popped open his soda. It was nice to be able to eat without freaking people out.

"Told you!" Cody laughed, and took a bite of his sandwich. He chewed thoughtfully. "I think we should introduce Maia to these. Has Toby ever had one?"

Dari shook his head.
"Maia's a sugar addict. She'd eat the whole jar with a spoon." Hell, he might too. "I don't know if Toby has. Probably. He's been around a pretty long time. He's almost definitely older than Fluff."

"There's plenty of stuff he's younger than," Cody laughed and shook his head. "But yeah. I think fluff is from the 1800s."

"Well, Lori was born in the 1800s," Dari offered, then noticed his ring and thoughtfully added: "The woman who enchanted this stone might be older than dirt, who knows?"
He paused. "Well, probably not dirt. They do live underground... but did they always? Hm."

"Thirty-eight," Dari said without pause, "Toby is seventy-five and Lori forgets." He smiled as he finished his sandwich and kissed Cody on the cheek.
