Beanpole you shouldn't just forgoe the check and go unconscious (you can forgoe the check but the results can be easily much better than what you are choosing to do).
I'll show you what forgoing it would do because depending on how much you fail or succeed your crit check by determines what happens, there is no standard unconsciousness just when you hit a certain amount only if you fail your check by a certain amount.

So lets break down those numbers.

You're at -278 Stamina.
Your normal full Stamina is 19 (the x100 doesn't factor in).
So 19x2 (stat x2) is 38.
38 vs 278 = -240 or -24% (50%-24% = 26%)
So your check would be 26 or under.

So with the numbers above if you rolled 27-35 you'd suffer Cold Crit 0
36-45 Cold Crit 1
46-55 Cold Crit 2
56-65 Cold Crit 3
66-75 Cold Crit 4
76-85 Cold Crit 5
86-95 Cold Crit 6
96-100 Cold Cirt 7

Unconsciousness on a Cold Crit is not achieved until you hit Cold Crit 7.
So are you ABSOLUTELY certain you want to forgo this and take the absolutely worst possible roll? (which if you roll has only a 4% Chance of even occurring)

Because honestly he's still going to be hitting you with those AOE's as he flies by anyways (since you're bodies still in the way) so it won't really save you from death.

I will say this. I often, if not always post my battle post before I post the rp section. But unlike everyone else thats doing it, I immediatly go back and add my rp right after it. This is so I dont have to feel rushed to make my rp section. Everyone in the fight can at least see my battle post and I can go ahead and work on my rp section. But when your waiting days at a time to add rp. It is technacly already against the rules because your post is not done properly without an rp section. Reason being, no matter what you roll on the check, if it does not make rprical sense it does not count, so if you dont have an rp section by that definition you did nothing and as such you failed all checks.

Now granted we dont enforce it this way, bottom line being, we could, and most likely will start.

General rule of thumb is rather simple, something most of the veterans follow or used to at least back when I played:
Always post what you're attempting, if something is dependent on a roll then RP out part of your actions, anything relying on the roll can then be edited in after the post.

The issue with not adding in the RP is that people after you are then held up because they don't know what you actually just did other than mechanically.

It's based off of the Anime/Manga Fairy Tale. It's alright, based off of Word Count and stuff though, It's cop out of Air Gear LYL if you've ever been in/heard of that guild.
