I'm not sure what you were expecting, since the Megaman ... X's... Megamen... have been platformers for 20 years or for however long they've existed. =P
My brother got me Megaman X8 for my birthday, so I had to play it. e_e I think before the American release date, too. So I couldn't look at any of those reviews, because they were in Squiggly.

Ah. Weird enough, the series was actually supposed to end at X5 and go on to the X Zero series.
