I should have known... *Ran sighed then reached down and grabbed Hikari by the back of her shirt. He lifted her up and set her on her feet before tossing the piece of paper back onto the stack that was in her hands* What are you doing out? Weren't you resting or something? stare

"Well I went to go and see if I could make up all the work I messed while in the hospital and well I have all this paper work to do by next week otherwise I have to repeat the whole year and I'm now leaving with Kuroi meaning I don't have to go to foster care and thanks for the help."

Hikari sighed as she was being pulled to Kuroi's appartment by Ran. She knew he was only trying to be nice. "Ran like I told Ian I will be fine getting to Kuroi's on my own..I mean I wouldn't want to trouble you."

Save it, I'm doing this because I want to. stare *Ran kept walking, pulling Hikari with him. She was blissful, but too clumsy to be reliable for much of anything. He looked up at the sky as they walked and began to wonder if what Cain said was true. Maybe he had grown too fond of humans. Maybe this love and caring attitude was only a fascination. What would he do if none of it was real? The thoughts repeated in his mind*

"But still thanks nonetheless." Hikari replied with kindness in her voice. She continued to allow herself be pulled by Ran to Kuroi's appartment but noticed him looking at the sky and blinked. "Ran..." she tugs on his arm like a 5 year ago. "..is there something on your mind?" she asked innocently.

Huh? *Ran stopped and looked back at Hikari. He thought for a moment and wondered why she was concerned. Maybe he had gotten too friendly with the lillim. He jerked his face back and proceeded to continue down the sidewalk, now in more of a stomp than a stroll* Don't be stupid! I'm fine! stressed

*Ran stopped and thought about it. What was wrong with him? Was he questioning his feelings? His emotions? Was any of it real? Did he REALLY feel any different towards Ranpha than he did towards anyone else? He turned and looked at Hikari* Kari-chan...don't be scared when I do this, I just need to know something... *With that, Ran leaned over and kissed Hikari. This was the 2nd girl other than Ranpha that he had kissed today, if you could call the Angel a girl. He held it for a moment, then broke it and looked at the stunned Hikari* No...it is different... *Ran stood back up and let his thoughts wonder as he looked at the ground* So maybe my feelings are true... stare

Hikari was stunned.....she didn't have those feelings towards Ran....and he had Ranpha. And....he just stole her first kiss! She looked at him wondering what to say or do.....well she did the first thing that came to mind. She went up to Ran and...slapped him across the face. "Ran you jerk! You stole my first kiss! Do you have any idea what my first kiss meant to me?!?!" she yelled with tears of frustration starting to well up in her eyes.

*Ran raised a hand up and rubbed the red palm print on the side of his face. He didn't see this coming. Not from Hikari anyway. He looked back, a number of cruel heartbreaking replies in his mind. Yet he digressed. He did what he had to do and he owed it to Hikari to at least give her a dignified response* Don't worry about something so simple as a kiss... *He stepped forward and laid two fingers on Hikari's chest, over her heart* This is what matters, and is what you should be more concerned about protecting. *He lowered his hand back to his side and looked at her for a moment, letting his words sink in* So are you coming or what?

Hikari restrained the tears that she felt would fall from her frustration. What Ran said was true....well it made sense but Hikari had to disagree. How could she protect her heart from something that was unknown to her....that thing being in love. Even though she loved her parents dearly and was heartbroken when they died they love she was talking about was different than that of a family member. Yet over time her heart did mend itself from the heartbreak of losing her family. However her belief was that her first kiss should be out of love...not out to make certain things for Ran to be true. She took in a deep breath to calm herself down. "..that may be true Ran..but how can I protect my heart against something that I have never felt before?" she asked as she stood where she was.

Still, did he feel any guilt from taking her first kiss? He thought about it for a moment. Nah. He was a demon after all*

Hikari took in a few deep more breath's trying to calm down. Ran shouldn't talk to her like that......talking like he's her father....or elder...well he was older than her..but that was besides the point! Hikari walked behind Ran without saying a word...just trying to push the kiss to the farthest corner of her mind....
