There wasn't much time that he had to spare so Anson could not afford to sit around discussing things or he would risk being late to the meeting. He thought that he had heard a train whistle a moment ago, and that meant that he was already cutting it close if Share Heathers was indeed coming in on the train.

He didn't have time to make an argument over this.

"Of course," he said after a second, slipping the bag from his shoulder and unzipping it again to pull out the smaller bag that Jera had given to him. Though he did not stop there, he opened that bag as well and, without looking at the contents, dumped the single item in that bag out onto the halfling's store counter.

Minion blinked and looked past the containers to see the dwarf, that's what it was right? While his internal thoughts debated for split second intervals Minion took the time to take in the persons characteristics. He had such wonderful colors on, and he was close enough for the inexperienced 'adventurer to be' in order to make out all of the fine details.

Shaking his head from side to side Minion regained his sense of manners and addressed the dwarf with a bow of the head and would have extended a his hand, but trade manors might be different so he instead introduced himself.

"Wonderful, my name is Minion, and I would like to purchase some water... but," There was hesitation in his voice, it wasn't that he disliked the idea of getting free water, it was that he thought it would be rude to pass of a false impression of himself to some one. "...but all the money I have I found. Could you accept this purse," Minion raised it above the containers and jingled it again, "and return it to the original owner if you know them, and let me take use some the money in there to pay you, as I would have requested a finders fee?"

He was still much of a child in this respect, he never liked being in debt to anyone, and felt that no one would like to be in debt to him, so as a mutual understanding of debt dislikers, people would accept his absurd proposals, if for no other reason than to clear his mind, less their own. That's what it had been in Strata at least, especial that time-

Time! What?! What do you mean 'Time!' Look at the clock closer to the center of the stalls, the one that might have been used to track hours, do you see what time it says? So it does... well lets get some water then get out of here, I can suit up while walking so you're going to move on from this conversation, ok? Got it.

Sanchez wasn't expecting him to just open the bag and drop the contents out like that.

"Hey, wait!"
The kid, being as defiant as ever, let the pouch open and go loose, causing a red ruby to hit the counter in all its shiny glory. Quickly, the Halfling scooped it up into his hands, having it disappear beneath the counter. He was clearly angry.

"Why the hell did you do that, kid?!"
He looked around left to right, making sure no one had saw that. He was frowning profusely.

"Do you realize where we are?!" He threw the bag of money on the counter, resting in its pouch.

"Just take your money and go."

-----------------------------------------------------

The dwarf looked at the pouch of money given to him, confused by the offer. He confessed that he had found this bag of money and wanted it returned to its rightful owner, but at the same time, he wanted to use some of that money. It would have been smarter to just have taken some of the money out and pretended it was his own, but...well, the dwarf was a kind fellow. He knew when some people just were too innocent or naive for that type, so he decided he'll reward the kid, anyway.

"Go ahead. Take three bottles of water. Cleanest you will ever taste. And I'll see if I can find the owner of the lost bag. Deal?"

"Do you realize where we are?!"

"No, I don't." Anson answered without raising his voice or panicking like the halfling had. "Why don't you tell me where we are in words that someone like me can understand?"

He didn't realize 'where they were' but he did have a pretty good inkling that Sanchez had wanted to keep whatever was in the bag out of the public eye. Seeing that it was a ruby only made things more uncertain. Either he was concerned about having it stolen from him or he wasn't supposed to have it in the first place. Not exactly payment for a legitimate package... but even if what he had sent to Jera was a questionable substance the payment was nothing more than a gemstone.

Unless there was more to it than that.

Before anything else could be said Anson grabbed the bag of gold off the countertop and tucked it into a pouch on the side of his belt. There was no telling if pressing this guy a little harder was going to make him welch on the payment so he wanted to make sure that it was in his hands already.

"You wanted to see it, now we both have. But neither of you said anything about that belonging to you so the way I see it, it's mine until you convince me otherwise." The young Paladin leaned forward across the counter, placing his left hand down flat upon it as he did and loomed over the halfling. "So... convince me."

He didn't have time to waste doing this, but it was right in front of him so he couldn't stop now. Either Sanchez would talk, or Anson would put the fear of God into him.

"Don't push your luck, kid," the Halfing responded. He didn't like this kid's tone, as if he had suddenly gained authority. If he could, he would take back the pouch of money.

"Ever heard of 'don't ask, don't tell'? Yeah, this is one of those cases."

He rubbed the tip of his nose, snappy at this point. "But let me warn you, kid. This marketplace may look all whitey tiddy right now, but you have no idea what goes on underneath it all. I don't like talking about it, but the days here are numbered. The city's economy is going to collapse soon, and all because the Tyr Donian are getting dry mines. They can only hide it for so long, but soon enough, they're going to run out of their precious resources. Now they're getting all desperate, going out and searching in forbidden areas. It won't be long before panic spreads. Then it'll be like the ole Mithril Rush of '56. Only this time, there's going to be more blood. Now, if you will, leave me be."

Shining rays of light radiated from the ebony eyes, creating quite the paradox. Minion was beaming, and overjoyed that good natured people existed in other parts of the world as well. After the child like reaction, he exhaled slowly and regained his composure, blinking a few times to adjust his vision back to normal for fantasy.

"Thank you for your troubles. I'll be sure to recommend you to my friends. Take care."

Three bottles of water were moved from the counter of wares, into a pouch of his desert cape, into three pouches actually, the bottles couldn't all fit into one. Smiling softly, Minion nodded to the dwarf again before turning and heading in the direction that would lead him to where he was supposed to meet this person...

The bobbing head amongst a crowd of larger people, was now aware of how things went on here and managed to avoid someone bumping into him once or twice. The pertinent task at hand was getting the gauntlets on. By loosening both of the strapping, Minion was able to slip the gauntlets up past his elbows and attach the the harness that went around his torso to keep the gauntlets in place. If some one looked at only his torso, he might have looked like a dominatrix. Habit had taken over motions by now and each of the four gauntlets were attached to the harness, which would prevent him from over extending his reach and ripping his arm off by accident.

Donning the light red vest again, Minion took the desert cloak and stuffed it between one of the tighter lashings for the harness and his body, before letting it fall behind him. It wasn't the ideal way to travel with it, but it would half to do for now, as it acted as his portable home.

Stopping momentarily, Minion adjusted the cloak so that it wasn't dragging behind him, instead it now was rolled up and hung akin to where a pouch, or series of pouches might have been. Double checking that he still had all three bottles of water, which he did. Minion proceeded to where the client would be... hopefully.

"..."

What could he say to that? The mines were going downhill and everyone was scraping to get what they could while they still could... even he had been hired to come here and help explore one of those forbidden areas in the hopes of finding some undiscovered vein still in the mountain. If the kobold and halfling were guilty of smuggling gemstones, there were far worse things that it could have been.

"Alright, I hear ya," he finally replied with; slinging his bag over his shoulder once more and backing off. "I'll won't give you any more trouble, but..."

Maybe there was still an opportunity to do some good in all of this.

"With things the way they are, it must be pretty competitive. If there's anyone else looking for a helper that doesn't ask any questions you'd tell me about it, wouldn't you? I wouldn't mind being grossly overpaid a few more times."

"I'll be here for a few days. See you around, Sir Sanchez."

And he was already late. The train had arrived already and Anson hurried back towards the station in the hopes that he hadn't missed meeting with Heathers.

"What is taking them so...oh, here comes one of them now."

Share closed up his pad as he saw the first of his clients, Minion. He had met each of them personally before this mission, so they already knew how he looked and vice versa. However, at the same time, neither of the hired guys knew one another, unless they met prior to this.

"I see one of you made it here."

He looked about, suddenly seeing another one rushing over. Anson, he remembered he was called. He raised his hand to try to get his attention.

"Hey, you! Over here!"

That makes two.

Quote:
"Hey, you! Over here!"

Turning around as she heard someone call, L'uazia saw a man waving and recognized their employer. But before she glanced back to Reyin to tell him that she saw Mr. Heathers, the sage caught sight of a boy just barely older then her...

"Sweet Light!" She exclaimed, as she turned around and grabbed Reyin's arm. Pulling him in front of her and putting him between her and Anson, Lu squeaked from behind his back.

"I found Mr. Heathers!" She said, not daring to look past him. "Is there... Anyone else around him maybe? Do you see anyone?" If Reyin told her that Anson was walking over to their employer, she didn't know what she'd do...

And more on the way... though those that were called out to didn't know that yet because they had only met with Share Heathers himself and not with the other members of the expedition. Anson and Minion would be able to identify each other now that Heathers had called out to them but as for Reyin and the incognito innocent he was with, they were still in the dark.

Anson did not shout back at Heathers but instead raised his hand in acknowledgment; weaving around a few of the other travelers who were still disembarking at the station and heading over.

"Good morning, Sir Heathers," the Paladin greeted him politely upon finally catching up, "sorry if I kept you waiting."

Minion knew he recognized this person from somewhere, though the exact reason for this knowledge was lost to him. Noticing that another person arrived before him, a boy a few years younger than him, Minion back tracked slightly to avoid a small group of odd looking foxes that walked on two legs.

I wander what those are? I'm sure I'll find out in due time though.

Boy
"sorry if I kept you waiting."

Minion followed suit as he came within hearing distance, and started a formal apology.

"I am sincerely sorry if I caused you any inconvenience Sir... ah. What was it again?"

Minion said blushing slightly from embarrassment. The kid was definitely taler than him.

((Tests are done, I can post now. My bad.))

"Well I-AHGYAD!"

Reyin didn't necessarily get dragged along, but his legs were definitely trying to play catchup with his upper body as soon as L'uazia caught notice of their employer. After about five seconds of disorientation he finally got his legs underneath him and was able to keep up with the smaller girl without much effort.

"Iunno. Looks like there might be at least one...and another kid who looks like he's...yep, so that makes two."

Reyin slowed his trot to a walk assuming he was able to get his arm free of his newfound companion. Their new employer wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, so it didn't look like there was a need to be in a hurry.

"So...this the merry adventuring company? Five of us?"

Reyin spoke on approach, but kept turning his head left and right to see if anybody else was on their way.

"Unless I'm missing somebody?"

It didn't appear that way, so Reyin stuck out his hand once he was close enough, aiming for a handshake with anyone who was willing to grant one.

"Name's Reyin Nova. Pleasure to meet all of ya."

The one-eyed Share looked with his single right eye at each of his hirelings. They seemed like a bubbly sort of bunch, save for Minion who kept a lot to himself. Unlike your usual mercenaries, these four were lively and kicking. Probably young and just getting to know the life of going out and taking odd jobs. However, he could only wonder how last each of them could last. Mercenaries were notorious for becoming cold hearted and selfish. Hopefully, these four were only doing this temporarily, having higher goals in life. Something to ascend to later than just being a measly mercenary for the rest of their lives.

"Looks like all of you are here. If you will, we have a lot to do and a lot to discuss. I need two of you to pick up this container from each end and carry it. We need to get going while the day is still young. Follow me."

With no time to waste, he began his trek toward a path that was going higher up into the mountains, moving away from the busy area and into a more off-road area. The steel box was around 40 lbs and had a handle on each side of the rectangular shale for twp to pick up from.

It was quite obvious that Lu was behind Reyin but she remained 'hidden' behind him, her hands fussing with her hood as she snuck cautious glances past his sides. She was almost positive that she'd seen Anson walking through the crowd - but then again, she hadn't seen the boy for a few months since he'd left the Temple.

With everything that was going on though, L'uazia decided not to take any chances and kept her face hidden. She was only a trainee so her holy aura was quite limited, but it did exist, and that was bound to drag up questions down the line. Contacts and hair dye can only do so much after all.

As Heathers pointed toward the container, Lu paled underneath her hood and hoped that someone else would step forward and do the heavy lifting.

The kid was definitely taler than him.

Definitely was and would continue to be as time went on. At five-foot-eight and sixteen years, the young Paladin was not short for his age and would no doubt gain another handful of inches in the next few years. For now though, he was likely the middle member of this group with Share and Reyin above him, Minion and Lu'azia below.

The one who took his hand was the other swordsman among their group; grasping it with a hand covered in leather and chain that was sticking out the end of an engraved silver bracer. Thin and fair-skinned with light blond hair and pale blue eyes, the boy looked as if he could have been at home surrounded by a nimbus of light; even though the aura of good that surrounded him wasn't visible normally. Despite his saintly appearance the teenage boy was still barely more than that though: wearing a pair of headphones around his neck, jeans with sneakers, and a grey hooded sweatshirt that looked as if it had been dragged down a gravel road before coming here.

"Paladin Anson Brent," replied the boy, introducing himself with a polite bow of his head as he shook Reyin's hand. "Likewise, to you and your..."

He trailed off slightly at that; tilting his head and leaning slightly to the side to glance around Reyin's shoulder at the one who was hiding behind him. It was odd, she looked somewhat familiar but he was fairly certain that he'd never seen the girl before; the world was a big place, though.

"...ladyfriend."

"Sir." Anson replied curtly with an affirmation. It was likely that they had a long ways to walk still and would have time for small talk later. He hadn't yet been introduced to the other two members of this group but it seemed that at least they all had youth in common... other than their grizzled financier.

With a shrug of his shoulder he slipped the straps of his blue-gray duffel bag off from it and instead grasped them in his left hand; tucking the sheathed sword he was carrying with his right between them so that both could be carried there. He then stooped down beside the box and grasped one of the handles with his right hand.

"Oi."

Of course, he was calling to Reyin. He wouldn't expect the girl to carry half this load, and between the two of them Minion was a bit runty compared to the swordsman.
