Amberpelt padded over to Swanfeather and the other nursery queens. "Would you feel better if I stayed with you?" she asked.

Showerstar kept going after Spottedwind answered her question. Moved out quickly, leading Talonstride and Raggedtail. He watched as Lotusleaf and his group hurried ahead. He followed them quickly.
Duskfeather's heather eyes were in a blaze as she scanned about, alert, and ready. She watched the slipping away warrior with an aching view.
Nightfrost hurried swiftly with them.
Riverkit could hear all of this with his sharp ears from inside the nursery. He only wished he could see!
Thistlekit looked at Riverkit. "This is horrible."

Talonstride followed his leader as he followed Lotusleaf, Dewleaf, Nightfrost, and Blackpaw, Lotusleaf leading the way. They sped through the forest, Lotusleaf's heart pounding in time with his paws as they broke through the last of the ground cover and stopped on the river bank. The deputy immediately rushes up to where Duskfeather was standing over Willowcloud, who looked like she hadn't even breathed the whole time he was gone.
"How is she?" he asks urgently as Dewleafs pads up behind him, setting down her herbs an setting to work.
Talonstride's fur rises dangerously when he spotted the young warrior's body and he gives the perimeter a swift glance, senses on high alert. Blackpaw on the other hand just stops a few cat length away, her eyes wide, the fight in her evaporating. She had imagined it would be bad...'But not like this! Do cat's even HAVE that much blood!?' Her ears fold back, and she closes her eyes. She suddenly feels a tail wrap around her and she opens her eyes to see her mentor standing beside her. Though he didn't look down at her, Blackpaw knew that he was concerned about her, and that this was his way of expressing that concern. Swanfeather gazes at Amberpelt in gratitude and nods.
"Please." she mews, letting the warrior inside before turning to her kits.
She draws them close to her with her tail and nuzzles each with her head.
"It is alright." she tells them evenly. "Showerstar and Lotusleaf will do their best to find out how to fix all this. And perhaps Dewleaf can save Willowcloud. I hope so...."
She wanted so much to protect them, to tell them that everything would be ok, but, deep inside, she had the nagging feeling that her kits would rather her tell them the truth, especially her Riverkit. 'I hope they understand...' she prays.

Amberpelt nodded, laying down by the nursery entrance, her paws stretched out in front of her and her tail swaying lightly. She had her eyes on the camp entrance*, claws sheathed, but ready to pounce at a moment's notice.
*Is the nursery entrance located in sight of the camp entrance?

Riverkit blinked a couple times. "I hope so, too." He meowed, his ears pointing towards his Mother, eyes staring at nothing.
Thistlekit looked up at her mother. There was something she was thinking, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to say it.
Duskfeather watched, her heather eyes still burning.
Showerstar's freakishly brightly burning golden eyes looked at Willowcloud, hope flaring in his chest. He looked at his group. "I want to find out what direction he went in, came from. He meowed, it would be difficult with the reek everywhere. He scanned the area.
Raggedtail nodded, his amber eyes narrowing. He looked at Willowcloud, a worried pit started to develope in his gut.
Stonetiger and Dustpaw padded over to meet with Spottedwind. Stonetiger's bright amber eyes glowed with a dangerous glow.

Amberpelt kept her eyes on the entrance of camp. She was beginning to grow restless. But she knew, for the sake of the kits and queens, that she couldn't leave.

Hey guys. Just comming to tell you that we're going to have a Gathering in a couple days. We haven't had one in a while, so I thought it was a good time. I'll tell you when it is exactly later on. Dewleaf worked swiftly and silently, ears pulled back and tail flicking in concentration.
"Duskfeather, find cobweb. I wont have nearly enough." the medicine cat orders, pawing at Willowcloud's chest, exposing a large, unsightly gash. "He tried to kill her."
Lotusleaf looked at his leader blankly for a moment, his ears trained on Dewleaf, then comprehension crosses his features, and he nods. The deputy scents the air for a long moment, comming up with little to tell. The scent of blood masked everything.
"Raggedtail, fetch water." Dewleaf mews in the background as Lotusleaf pads a little ways off and scents the air agian, picking up a small hint of the traidor.
"Over here. I've got a little lead."
He turns and points his tail in the direction the trail led.
"Down the river." the deputy continues, slightly shaky. "He's probably heading to the Outskirts more than likely."
Blackpaw growls from where she is crouched on the ground by her mentor.
"Good, maybe the Twolegs or loners will get him..." she mews softly.
Talonstride narrows his eyes and takes a step torward his leader.
"Do you want me to come with you?" he asks sternly.
Swanfeather smiles at Riverkit, though he couldn't see it, and purrs to him before turning to her other kit.
"Whats wrong? Hungry?" she questions.

((I know this sounds odd, but what if Silentcloud managed to sneak past the patrol, and invade camp for the kits? It's only a suggestion, of course.))
Amberpelt leapt to her paws. "Would you like me to fetch some fresh-kill?" she asked, eyes shining with concern and wanting to protect the queens and kits.

Duskfeather hurried off, and soon returned with cobwebs. After many moons in this territory, she knew almost every grass blade and pebble in it.
Raggedtail ran off and got some moss nearby the rocks and marshy spots next to the stream. He soaked it up with water and brought it back.
Showerstar looked at Talonstride, and then in the direction that Lotusleaf pointed out that he headed into. His dangerous eyes blinked, he thought. The warrior code said no cat must be killed in cold blood. Silentcloud had no loyalty to the warrior code, but Showerstar did. He glared off in the direction he had gone. "Not tonight." He meowed. "We won't go after him tonight." He meowed. He'd have to fix this himself, claw for claw. But not tonight. "I won't let my clan be picked off. Silentcloud's war was with me. But he's brought it into the whole clan." He meowed, darkly. Something evil began to glow in his eyes. He knew exactly where he was headed. "I know why he's headed into the Outskirts. If I can help it, he won't be there for long." He looked at Willowcloud, laying there.
Riverkit listened carefully.
Thistlekit looked up at her. That wasn't what she was thinking, but she agreed, "Yeah." She meowed, and looked at Amberplet. She licked her lips at the thought of fresh kill.

Amberpelt blinked affectionately at the small kit and licked the top of her head. "I'll be right back," she said, directing the comment to Swanfeather and Willowsong. Heading out, she retrieved a plump vole and a pigeon for the queens, along with a tiny mouse for Thistlekit, and a plump thrush for herself. She padded back to the nursery, depositing the fresh-kill at the paws of the queens. "Is this big enough for Thistlekit to digest?" she ask, nosing the mouse close to Swanfeather.

swiftpaw finished a nice fat mouse,she licked her paws and started to groom herself,today she was going to practice fighting,she was so excited she couldnt stop purring

Dewleaf nods to Duskfeather and Raggedtail gratefully and instructs them.
"Wash away the blood with the water, and when its relatively clean, cover the wound with the cobweb." she mews to them as she opens her leaf bundle and begins to chew up a bitter paste.
Lotusleaf and Talonstride look at Showerstar a bit suprised, but after a moment, the deputy nods.
"Alright." he mews, slowly sheathing his claws.
Swanfeather smiles at the warrior and takes the mouse, giving it to Thistlekit.
"It's fine." she tells Amberpelt, and takes the pigeon. "Thank you. We appreciate your efforts."

Showerstar watched carefully as Willowcloud was taken care of.
Raggedtail did as he was told, carefully cleaning the wound. The amount of blood was very disturbing to him, but he got the job done. Duskfeather pressed carefully the cobwebs, her heather eyes flickered. She watched Dewleaf briefly, switching between her and Willowcloud.
Thistlekit began to enjoy the mouse. "Tank dou" She meowed through a mouthful of food. Riverkit sniffed the mouse.

Amberpelt's eyes softened and her whiskers twitched. She continued to munch on her thrush. "They're going to be apprenticed soon, right?" she asked.
