FlashbackJon Now that's just silly. The Orks don't fear the Nightbringer. Literally. domokun domokun domokun After all, why should they? Teleporting psychotic snotlings inside your opponent works just as well on necrodermis as it does on, say, a beekee's pants. rofl [.Psycho.Doughboy.] And perhaps the mechanism for phasing out is on the tomb world, yeah? You'll note my list of potential explanations covers that eventuality. Just because they don't fear me doesn't mean I can't eat em. And what's more, I still hate your logic.

I have a question here.. Is it worthwhile to spend 40pts on a res-orb if you're fighting a small detatchment of Tau..? Most people say yes, just because a Necron army is incomplete without one. But for all pragmatic reasons, is it really needed..? They don't have power weapons... And it's not like their railguns can take out large numbers of units anyways.

Well it depends what they have I think.
And what you have.
If you have a squad of Immortals or Destroyers hanging with your Lord, or at least near, then that res orb is nice. They're hardly a unit you should risk.
Also, if they have a squad of Broadsides, they can lay 3 a turn. -Also-, if the Lord isn't set on a Destroyer body, a railshot can floor him in one. If I'm still correct in thinking the Orb can be used on the Lord too, then that's nice.
Plus you have to think what else can you -really- get for 40pts in a Necron army?
2 Warriors?

Hokay. I esplain now. the res orb works on the lord holding it, so thats cool. And keep in mind, "We'll be back!" rolls can be cancelled not only by power weapons, but by guns that are twice their toughness, so for your standard warrior, if the gun is strength 8 or higher, they pop for good. Now, I'm not familiar with tau weaponry but seeing as how shooty they are, if they have anything more than fire warriors, gun drones and stealth suits, bring the orb. -Extra handy tip: if you have the points to field a monolith, the teleporter can let you re-roll failed "We'll be back!" rolls if you send a unit through. So if you take heavy casualties to a unit, or are locked in close combat with someone who loves it loke Khorne, Orc Choppas or Space Wolves, then you can warp yourself out of close combat, further renew yourself, and then shoot the hell out of him. I've won my last 2 matches against Khorne players using that strategy. Just don't EVER let them egg you into assaulting your lord at a daemon prince on turn 6. That happened today, the whole shop was just callin me out, man. Crazy. Anyhow I ramble. Also a great way to be annoying is with phylactery, a measly 15 points gives you the chance to bring your lord back almost completely or completely healed. And brings a very satisfying look to your opponent's face when you undo all his work.

Pledged soul to the C'Tan.
The end.
I think that's pretty much how it goes for all, but I've never read the Codex.
