Well I'm a freshman a Bourgade Catholic High School. I've been playing the clarinet since 6th grade but we didn't have a band at my grade school so this is my first year in a band. The first day we played, after the football game we went to a news station for Friday Night Fever where they review all the football games in Arizona. It was pretty cool.

x3 SuGarr CoOkiie Miyoko Clarinetti x3 SuGarr CoOkiie Ahh! I have a problem! Help, pleas. =O Well my clarinets foam paddings at the bottom keys fell off and were replaced the other day. Inspite of that my clarinet is still hard to play when i press down on the bottom keys and the sharp key. (The long button on the back of the clarinet, not sure of it's exact name.) Does anyone know what the problem might be? Should i just rent a clarinet for the time being, becuase i think about every song we play in band so far has highnotes. xD Help, comments, would be appreciated. <3
hmmm....I use to have that problem I think! A few months ago, my clarinet was acting very weird. When I played in the second octave my register key (isn't it called that?) wouldn't close or anything, well i mean it wouldn't go back to it's original state, it was like i was still pressing the register when i wasn't. Even though its fun to play high notes sometimes i didn't want my clarinet to stay like that... sweatdrop maybe it has an air leak? Or go over to a music store or something and tell them whats wrong with your clarinet ^_^ I'm not much help in this area though...i've only been playing for a year sweatdrop *Slaps head* There we go, register key. xD Man, yeah... i'll have to check that out, almost everything we play has highnotes in it. xD So i'll have to do something about it. Thanks. <3your welcome ^_^ its okay, I've had times where I said words like that...like...getting bar rests confused...i think thats its name...i forgot sweatdrop gonk then there is also the octaves, i never used that term i called it going over the second, third break etc etc...now i know xD. my clarinet acts weird sometimes >_< won't let me play B4 sometimes and the lowest E and F.... it must be my air though, i need to ask my conductor now sweatdrop -miyoko

Elxis Hello fellow Clarineteers I have played the Clarinet for two years and *brags* am just as good as the other clarinets in the band who have played much longer... In two years i have learned to play B-flat, E-flat and bass clarinet Hey me too! Except I only play B-flat. I'm a junior. There's this one sophmore that no one can stand in the section, right, she's rude, inconsiderate, and acts like she's better than everyone! Even those in the other sections. Well she comes up to me at band camp and tells me I can't play first (which I already know b/c this is my first year playing clarinet in the marching band and first years always play second [flutest at heart]). She flips out because I played the high C (the music was divided: a high C and a middle E) to make sure I would get it out ok (still a little shakey in upper register). Then she yells at me for switching seats with her so I could sit next to my friend, Steph, when the previous day, she moved all my stuff down a chair. Keep in mind, she's a 1st sitting in the middle of the seconds. Anyone else have a person like that?

Hey everyone, man...I'm a hurricane Katrina victim, & just got back from our first practice since August. School hasn't even started yet. We got a little water in the Band Room, but the instrument storage is on the other side, so all the instruments were ok, (phew! Mine was in there too!) But what a headache... we're gonna try to go to Showcase this year, cuz we got in last year, but we still need to learn the routines to 2 more songs...*sigh* (Looking for some moral support here... crying )

You didn't have to stay at a shelter, did you? They looked so crowded...

Then when we were told we couldnt go home, we went to stay with family in Tx, (the area that got hit by Rita, ironically) So now they're going thru what we went thru... I had to go to a diff school for a week & a half & everything, too. It sucked.

What's sad is everyone (not limited ot the section) is fed up with her. She can't get it through her head! You tell her you hate her and she comes back in five minutes like nothing happened. *grunts* sorry there i go again.

Well...for one thing she does have a right to yell at you for switching seats with her just to be with your friend (Our band director would scream at us and say, "you guys are seventh graders now! I can't believe you all, what a stupid kiddy thing your doing! Do I have to treat you like a normal seventh grade band!?? DO I!?" ugh..but thanks to him I've known how to be mature but have fun ^^) unless it was a important reason....
the funny thing is, last year in sixth grade I had first part in a song, and I was the only person with first part in the second row gonk people would often get confused when our co conductor said first clarinets and see me playing... gonk and now I'm one of the only three girls playing first clarinet..all the rest are guys... stare one thing stupid about the first chair, second chair and third chair clarinetist is they play at forte no matter what, I can hear their dynamic, (i'm fourth chair...third last year crying ) and It makes me so angry...>_>!
anyhoo...I had my auditions for the wind ensemble today xd I messed up a bit on A major and my chromatic was pretty good...except for the fact i accidentally played Gb instead of F when going back down...solo was good and my site reading was great biggrin

You assume the firsts would sit together as would the seconds. If she takes so much pride in being first clarinet, why sould she sit with the seconds? With no assigned seats I have a right to sit by my friend but she does not have a right to move my things, no do I hers. (besides, I'm the upper classman, rookie or no that still brings certain rights...) But now on to happier subjects... because this sound too much like a debate... rofl

At first I was like, "uh...why are they coming?" but then my conductor told us biggrin . uhhh what else? the person who was judging us clarinetist was one of our private teachers from our school and he came from london biggrin haha the british accent...it was so cool xd -miyoko
