There was something in her that told her anyone who promised something like that wasn't someone to trust. Never have to fight again? Sounded a bit like a death threat to her instead of a promise of relief. what she felt when that...thing hit her in the back...she could only feel like more of that would await her if she followed it. She gripped her teapot with a grim determination and planted her feet in the ground as best she could. She would fight or die, but there was no way she would walk willingly into it.
As the first tea grenade hit, the memory that flashed through her mind threatened to knock her off her feet. She could feel the sun shining on her face, the sound of laughter all around her. "Sissy! Sissy come play with us!!" As quick as it hit it was gone and the raucous din of the fight attacked her senses again. The vague memory felt so nice she was almost heartbroken to be back in the thick of it all again. Cracking her head from side to side she set her jaw and prepared to fire again. If attacking this thing was giving her memories, on top of keeping it from hurting anyone else, she was just going to keep firing at it till one of them stopped moving.
The second one went off without a hitch and she did indeed get snippets of another memory but she wished she hadn't. All she could feel was crushing grief, a sense of great loss and a quiet, regretful voice. I'm sorry...there was nothing we could do... Tears poured from her cheeks as she tried to make sense of it and she was so lost in thought that she was nearly hit by one of the creatures claws, only barely managing to dodge out of the way in time. For a moment she wondered if she had the courage to attack again. What if the next memory was even worse? Was it worth knowing to feel that? A scream from the girl next to her snapped her back to reality. The poor thing didn't have a chance as she turned to stone before crumbling and disappearing. Shoving her own pain aside, she glared at the enemy and took her stance once more.
"I'm not going to let you hurt anymore of these girls! CLEAN CUP! MOVE DOWN!" She expected it this time, but the third memory was even more disjointed than the others. All she could really feel was a sense of wanting to protect people, to keep them safe. Too keep...whatever had happened from happening again. It was dizzying, and it left her with more questions than answers. For now she took some solace in the fact that she at least did a decent amount of damage to it. Nothing spectacular, but a good clean hit.

Nothing was ever as simple as it could have been or should have been. She felt her shoulders square, pale green eyes looking over the various others around her who were arguing for this and that. The smaller girl she had bumped into earlier wanted to stay, another wanted to go. What was Rhosyn's choice? She would stay the course.
"Just because one says the other is lying, doesn't mean it's telling the truth. Protecting people.... protecting people is the right thing to do." She had been set on her path and Rhosyn wouldn't stray from it. The dark haired girl didn't know the other's name who was telling everyone to follow, but she wouldn't follow. Instead she would stay the course with the stuttering one. Rhosyn took a moment to pat Macy on the shoulder before she hefted her battle axe, grinning ever so slightly. "Forward then?"
{ I have no idea what's going on besides with someone named Nila, and then Anua, so uhm... yeah. 8U;;; }
"Save it? Save it for what? you're hurt, so shouldn't you use it then?" Bea didn't understand at all! The chick was practically torn to shreds and she wanted to save it? It made no sense at all!
Looking to Nila Bea blinked at her curiously, before wrinkling her nose, "rabbit cat? I think it's more like a rabbit fox! that big fluffy tail, and what not!" she stuck out her own butt, and made a motion of a floofy elongated tail, as if that'd somehow help the matter. With Anua's little speech, Bea just gave a puzzled expression again. "Really? that's strange. I... just sort of acted on my own myself, but... I don't know if it felt familiar or not." shrugging ,she clearly didn't give much thought to the matter. "But that bunny fox thing seems to know the most so far, and it gave us these egg things, right?" she held up her energy orb which was still in tact, looking between the other girls, "I'm going to believe it!" she announces with confidence... or stupidity. One of those.
Finally, with Anua revealing her own decision, Bea gave a bright smile, and sidled up beside the other girl, giving her a thumbs up and a winning smile, "Alright! Let's stay here and beat this thing up then!" now she just had to remember how to get those cats to show up again... "Oh yeah! What do you use to fight, Anua?" with the bell somehow back in her clutches, Bea poised herself, with arms outstretched, firmly gripping and aiming the opening of the bell towards the new creature before them... she was stiff a moment, before she started to wildly shake it about, and ring that high-pitched, annoying metal like crazy!
Cats of all sorts of species started to appear, peeling out of the ground, and lurching at the foe!
But with each hit, Bea gets one of her own, internally. She blinks in disbelief, as... pieces start to form in her head. Muffled answers, words... she freezes again, as if trying to grasp them as her cats tear into the monster, holding her head with one hand, brows furrowing.
"What...?" she practically whispers, as if the unknown, and unidentifiable voices might speak louder.

Istas searched for answers she'd been hit again. She'd promised... to... to stay close to someone? The pieces were still scattered and didn't make much sense.... she glanced around again for Nila, to make sure she was okay.
She listened quietly as they spoke, nodding at the decision to save them. "Unless there is dire need, yes... I think that is best." The other girl's name, Tilly, was caught with a smile to offer for it. She didn't have a lot of input to give at that point, still to unsure of her own abilities and lost memories to do much. Emptiness... it hurt. Or well, no there was no pain. Just... a sadness. She felt hollow without the thing she couldn't recall. Once more the tears wanted to come, but she held back and merely took a breath.
She just wanted to know.
And then, as if by magic, the thing distorted, almost appearing. 'Human?' The word that thing had used once. "I..." She listened to the conversation, more confusion brewing in her mind as they spoke. Claim them? She... it... they were considered children to it? Well she certainly wasn't old, but... was she nothing more than a possession to have now? Both were arguing over them, over this balance. Who was truly trying to destroy it. "The... truth?" Neither were listening, they were too busy with each other. She was then called fake, the thing a false god, and... she was breaking apart? She looked to the thin marks left by the damage she'd taken earlier, eyes flitting between the pair. She just wanted the truth, nothing more. A promise. Yes. She'd made one right? She... wouldn't it be dishonest to go back on it now. However....
Did she recall? Yes, since her awakening. She'd said she'd fight? For those lost? "...I. Only what I have said since I woke." She lifted a hand, resting it on her chest, where her heart should be. Wasn't that enough conviction? What she'd seen since she awoke seemed enough to fight for. ...what she had seen...
Her friends.
Eyes lifted to look to the small group briefly, then back forward, to the shift once more. Something appeared to fight, something dangerous. She knew that much, and even now... it urged them. Remember. Remember. "Remember what... it's gone. All of it." She whimpered lightly, slowly stepping back from both as she shook her head. A wish she couldn't recall fully. Only that she wanted someone... something to live on. The new being promised no fighting, only answers. But did it truly care for them? Hadn't it merely spoken as if they were... something to have? To possess? She... wasn't a thing.
"Everyone..." Her voice was tiny, such that she barely heard herself. Some took to shouting they should fight, some as unsure as she herself was. And then Tamara.
Tamara was going with? "Ah..." She raised a hand as the girl walked away, drawing off to some place she felt she couldn't follow. Should she? She wanted answers too, to know what she was... what she desired. "Tamara..." Gaze fell once more to the remaining girls, her feet shifting. She wouldn't be angry at Tamara, no. A part of her wanted to go, but her friends. She couldn't leave those that remained to fight alone either. "Do...-" A pause as she tried to formulate what she wished to say. "Are we all going?" She... wasn't ready to decide yet. Then again... perhaps she never was. Orina wasn't too sure of herself at all at the moment. Some were perishing certainly, but... a choice had to be made. Their numbers would weaken and...

Jamie looked at Macy, then looked at the creature they were fighting this time. She swung her long sword up, holding it in front of her almost like a baseball bat. This--this was no longer about getting her wish granted--she doubted she ever would, no, this was about repaying the debt she'd been granted by the other girl. Life.
It was so fragile, she thought as she raced into the battle. She could feel her blood pounding in her ears, making the sounds of battle--the sounds of others just like her attacking and dying, seem almost in the distance. This life, she was throwing it away as thanks for the gift of it. Mere seconds granted that she might not have had--but they had been precious seconds. Seconds that a friend had given her. Seconds that she would never forget.
Her blade hit the first time, slamming into the monster, and she was somewhere else. Faces she knew she knew--but couldn't see, they surrounded her. The sound of laughter echoed in her ears, a hug, someone touching her arm--
A second time her blade slashed the monster, not so hard, but she barely even noticed it. Another moment flashed in her mind, wiping out the first happy moment. Two words seemed to blaze through her mind, cold, callous words, "They're dead." She felt the pain at her very center, felt the tears welling up in her eyes, silently streaking down her face as she dealt with the memory--the partial, pathetic memory that she knew held far more impact than she could even understand now. "They're dead."
Then she was standing in front of the white fuzzy creature, her hands in fists--another hit, one last hit--"I will--I promise I'll--" Static. It echoed in her ears as she saw her own mouth moving in the memory, saw the little while thing move, knew that it was speaking-- "I swear," she heard herself promise. "If you will swear that you'll--" More static. It had to have been the wish--but she knew now that what she had assumed was the wish--it wasn't all of it.
If only she could remember, she thought. She just wished she could remember.

Watching the others around her and trying to keep her crystal safe. She blinked as the creature they were fighting seemed to be morphing and speaking louder than the voices in her own head.
"I...we promised we would fight..."
She whispered as she shook her head, there was no way that she was helpful in the fight however, closing her eyes tightly she looked around to try and find someone she knew.
"I...I didn't..."
She watched the others that were braver then herself go forward. Closing her eyes once more she followed the creature if it was lying then she'd be dead, and if she staid and helped she'd be bound to drag others down with her. Turning to follow the figure she whispered in to her crystal
None of their wishes, or any sort of promises could be remembered. It was unanimous across the board listening to the girls that had collected themselves together around her. Maria seemed to be the only one with an inkling and Tamara the one with the most about questioning it. A name, fear and a weapon seemed to be the only iota of remembrance for them. It was frustrating to Ridley and it was becoming clear that perhaps giving up on sorting anything out was a really nice option. Because she was beginning to realize that she didn't like thinking at all, it was just getting too confusing and obviously it wasn't getting her anywhere.
It was the fight she liked, that seemed more her nature, something deep in her core. Maybe that Fear.
So, when she saw the new addition, the new voice appear, the orange haired girl found herself at a crossroads (for maybe.. a split second). Her arms squeezed her book in close as she listened to this ... woman's offer. Her brows knit together. This.. woman who had attacked them first, trying to unravel what the rabbit had told them with each uttered word. Fake bodies created by this small shadowed creature, according to her. It was true she had seen the damage done to her own body, the wisps of black that danced in the air, escaping. But these had been done by this... whatever she was. Not a very nice way to try to persuade someone to follow them in the least.
They were sweet words, maybe. In some sense. Because they all seemed to want to figure all this out. "I don't know if I can trust her, and the bunny thing found us first." Simple logic for the most part and she gave a small sad smile to Tamara, "you can go if you want, but I think I'm going to stay and fight. Seems... easier and less confusing, you know?"

It was almost inevitable that the claw headed for her, she thought as the heavy hit slammed into her, slicing through her clothing--through her skin. She fell back, flying through the air in silence, feeling something inside her creep up her throat, gagging her as she hit the ground. Her body fell limp, her eyes glazed over as something--one last thing crossed her mind.
For a moment she was surrounded, happy smiles, laughter--the promise.
Then it was gone. She felt the cracks forming on her skin, agonizingly ripping her flesh apart as black mist started pouring from her body. Jamie couldn't move. All she could do was look forward through her glassy blue eyes, seeing her companions racing forward, attacking--and dying just as she was herself. She hurt--
Then she was gone. Shattering, then scattering. Never to be again.

Blood? She gave Aria a strange look because what girl dealt with blood at their age -- and then the strangeness really began to pile up.
For one, it looked like the monster that had nearly destroyed some of then turned into a . . . a sentient being? And it and the cat were talking a bunch of things that made her head hurt even as she listened keenly and intently. False bodies and false gods? Zelda didn't know, the pain and numbness felt pretty real when she had gotten struck, and neither Jamie nor Aria had looked like they could handle a lot more after their bouts. No, they were real, the reaper told herself. And the enemy couldn't convince her otherwise just because it decided to talk after they had all started beating on it.
So she felt no guilt whatsoever about being sharp with Poppy. "Stop talking nonsense, kid, we have a thing to fight," Zelda told her briskly as she heard Esme's call, squeezing Macy's shoulder as the little one stammered her plea for them to fight. Zelda turned to watch as Vanessa ran forward to strike at it -
- and then paled as the girl, despite striking the creature hard, was struck down in turn. Zeld'a hand turned into a vice grip on the younger's girl's shoudler, staring at the place where the placid girl, the one who had told her she ought to stop being so rude, was now no longer around. Just like that. Poof.
And anger welled within her.
"Shut up and either fight or defend someone else of something I don't ******** care," she went on to snap, specifically to Zelda but also to the group at large. "But don't you even think of leaving, you get that? We're here to fight because if no-one else will, everything goes to hell." She of course had no proof of this, but Zelda had ever been one to bark and bark until her words became a show of teeth themselves. She nodded to Aria as the girl moved to attack and again to Jamie at her decision to stay, wincing as she saw someone else die and become nothing. A complete stranger, and yet the event left her feeling jut a bit more hollow.
They were dying for a cause they didn't understand, but she refused to let it go. She was, after all, dedicated.
She let her grip loosen, white knuckles flushing with blood. "Macy, I'm here. I won't leave," she assured the girl softly, though her expresison was still hard. Elspeth, Aria, and Jamie -
Jamie was -
s**t.
Zelda stared as the reaper became covered in black cracks and shattered into oblivion. Stared and stared. Three in such a short time when they had all survived so easily . . . s**t s**t s**t -
She covered Macy's eyes in hopes she didn't catch what was going on, ducking her head. "I want you to go with Poppy," she muttered. "I don't care what that thing says anymore, just - just go with her. It has to be safer than this.
"Rest easy, guys, you did your part," she then said to Aria and Elspeth with a level look and trembling hands."Let me go do mine."
Ashleigh turned her head to look at the new speaker. "You're doing better than I am, if you at least remember what your wish was about!" This was said with a welcoming expression, inviting the other girl to join them for a bit.
"Given how easily that...thing hurt us, I'd say that the stakes are about as high as they can get...at least, for us personally." She made another face. "And I have no idea what it is--I've never seen anything quite like it...at least, not that I can remember. For all I know, I used to eat them once a week, maybe on Sundays, with tartar sauce." She trailed off into a small grumble...she still had no inkling whatsoever what her wish had been...let alone any of the details of her past.

Gwyn went closer to the two of them.
She felt much better about her accomplishment than she thought was proper. I mean, it didn't seem like remembering something like that should even count. But doing something others hadn't, yet, made her feel special. She was all smiles. "Ah, thank you."
Her comment about eating them weekly with tartar sauce made her laugh. She needed that.
In an attempt to cheer her up, she said, "Well, the bright side is I don't think there's any rush in remembering. I think it would've said something if there was."
Xaki
She understood Ashleigh's feelings. Every fighter here might have felt the same feelings, to some extent or degree. "Insecurity, uncertainty, questions.. What's important is to put aside those feelings for battle." Stroking the edge of her sword beside her, she knew that those feelings might eventually place her into danger if she let them overwhelm herself. And there was all this talk about their wishes. "Wishes indeed." A sigh escaped her. She really couldn't have imagined making a wish, but if she was here, then she must have made one. That in itself was baffling considering that she rarely chose to rely on others. What had she gotten herself into?
"Don't think too much." She let her head lean back, staring up at the cieling. "Making any sort of plan or deciding our next move is futile in this case." Luka rarely liked plans, preferring to take things as they came along. Both Ashleigh and her seemed to be doing well for the moment following that philosophy. If they had no plan, then there would be no deviations or errors in the first place.
Nodding to the newcomer as a sense of acknowledgement, she listened idly while swinging her legs. "Dying, huh?" She looked over at Gwyn. She might have contemplated that thought but she didn't take it seriously. "Well, if the stakes are higher, doesn't that mean the prize is equally worth it?" From a gambler's point of view, Luka surmised a positive point. "I guess the only way to find the answers is to survive until the end."
"I don't plan to die. How about you guys?"

"Hmmm, I never thought of it that way. That's the way it usually works. Even in crap shoots." Her eyes glimmered as she imagined what the prize would be. Power, fame, glory, au gratis visit to a fancy buffet? "Oh, man, that'd be awesome!"
The talk about mortality brought her back down to earth. "I don't plan to die either. I don't have a death wish."
(OOC: Prompt 3)
Gwyn cursed her choice of words and sense of timing.
She clenched her hands so tightly that her fingernails left marks in her palms. Who was this woman? Who did she think she was barging in here and saying things like that about...whatever that thing was...the ferret looking thing with the spare rabbit ears. She didn't know what it was or what to call it, but she thought it had been helpful, so far. It was by her side when she woke up, it explained to her that she was supposed to help restore the balance of Fear, and it told her how to fight. It had all made sense to her.
Then, this broad came around and said it was a bunch of malarkey. Gwyn didn't want to admit it, but gosh darn it, she was making sense. She wanted so badly to tear this woman apart. To make her feel the pain she had. She felt so frustrated that she clenched her teeth and turned her feet inward, giving herself a pigeon toed look. She still hated this woman from the depths of her being.
But her curiosity about the loss of her memories was even greater. Would she really remember everything if she followed her?
"And, pray tell, what was this promise. Do you remember, false creations, what this promise was?"
She knew her answer to this as she was now was, "No, not at all."
She really hadn't remembered anything about her past other than a little bit about her wish. Everything else was things it had told her. So, maybe that woman was right. Maybe. Gwyn didn't see any other way of finding out for sure besides going with her. She shook her head. "This is nuts. This is so damn nuts."
Anna looked around her, from the familiar silhouette to the... not-so-familiar one. "Don't go with them!" she cried out, pivoting sharply to try and be heard by as many people as possible. "We have to fight! You have to fight! Like she said!" She pointed at Zelda with her bow. "It's the only way - p-please!!"

The world around them erupted into chaos, an odd thing where creatures attacked and young girls were posed with very serious questions. Did you stay and fight a loosing battle, keep with your friends and protect them only to see yourself fall later on? Or did you take another chance at someone else possibly lying to you? Who to trust, who to trust? "Maybe she's lyin' too! But we won't know until we try! Acceptin' our fates like this, just... Just givin' in to what the first person we hear says--" More should be said, another bit of a speech shouted at the other girls around her, but Vanessa then attacked the monster and... And just was gone. Just like that. A strangled note left Poppy as the girl disappeared, words fought their way up but she couldn't wrap her tongue around them and her teeth bit them off in odd ways. Just like Vanessa, other girls began to attack and disappear, fighting and dying. This was wrong.
"Make your own choices! Throw this and your life and your chances away, whatever! I'm going to find answers and the truth!" Poppy shouted at Zelda and Macy, at anyone nearby listening. Then she turned and clutching her bird cage tight against her chest, ran away from the battle.

Isabelle watched as the two conversed with one another.
Just what was she trying to tell them? That this tiny creature had stolen their memories and manipulated them into helping it? How could that be... and why was she so concerned with helping them anyways? Had she not been trying to eliminate them just a moment ago?
Isabelle ground her teeth together and tightened her fists. No. Memories or no memories, manipulated or not, this being before them was the real enemy and she didn't side with enemies!
"Even if we were tricked, I'm sure he had his reasons. Besides, I promised I would fight." She summoned the black scythe, giving it a quick spin before pointing it at the creature. "and I don't go back on my word!"
Her first strike was fast and strong, sweeping into the creature, before it swung back into another slash. Though while she did, something flashed before her eyes. Something warm, comforting and--faces. Many faces. All of which were blacked out.
Who were they? Family? Friends? The sight of them caused a warm sensation to fill in her chest. But she couldn't recall who they were. Isabelle spun around, her eyes stinging with unshed tears and her heart aching for that memory.
Her scythe made a hiss like noise as the shadows spiraled around the blade and disappeared into the creature, causing another memory to flash before her. Though this time, rather than feel warmth, she felt pain. A strong sense of loss as she caught a glimpse of something... However it as fast as it appeared it was gone again.
What was it? Or rather... who was it and why did she feel such pain?
Isabelle's knees felt weak. If it wasn't for her sheer force of will, she probably would have dropped to the ground, right then and there. Her attack, unfortunately, barely grazed the creature as a result and yet, it was thanks to that flashback that her next blow struck hard.
Another memory appeared. This time showing a glimpse of the rumored promise. Her promise. Though no matter how hard she concentrated, she could barely make out what it was she said.
It didn't matter.
A promise was a promise, and she had promised to fight. To protect the humans. Even if she couldn't remember her promise, there was no way she could give up now!
Her scythe came down once again. This time, with as much force as she could put into it.
Isabelle stumbled a little, gripping her scythe tighter, just before the creature struck. Knocking her back and to the ground. Her scythe lost somewhere between the fall, hissing and fading away in her absence.
She couldn't do it. In spite of her words, she was both physically and emotionally drained. She wasn't capable of putting up the fight she had promised she would. Perhaps this was as far as she was meant to go.
It was then that she saw something else. This time stirring a strange feeling within her. She couldn't make sense of it. No. Wait... it was.
Right... her promise. She promised she would--
The black cracks spread fast. Far too fast and by the time she realized what was happening, her sight was already fading into darkness.
Her body shattered, leaving no trace of the girl, Isabelle.
