"Let's take a peek then," Lin replied as she carefully backed up pulling her wing back so she could sit up without being hampered.

Now that she was more awake she too could hear the blustery sound of the wind. It made her think that even if they wanted to go out they wouldn't be able to. Ever so carefully she scooted off the bed, having to share a bed was one of the things she was getting use to, and was well aware how her wings tended to go every which way sometimes.

Tip toeing over to the window (the floor was cold to her) she peeked out. It looked white, not snowglobe white, but just white.

"I don't know if we'll be going anywhere, I can't tell if it's snowing or it's just the wind pushing everything everywhere..."

Earendil pulled the blanket back and shivered in the coolness of the room and, rubbing his arms once more, he joined Lin at the window.

It was indeed quite white outside, but he could see through it just enough to realize that the snow outside had piled up - high. Their window faced east, towards Timaeus and Alyse's house, but the house wasn't in sight, and even the trees that were nearer were difficult to see. What shocked him, however, was the depth of the snow that had fallen overnight. He couldn't tell exactly how much it was, but he was willing to bet it was at least as deep as Lin was tall.

Words escaped him, and he could only stare. He had never seen so much snow ...

Lin though, had seen that much snow in the past. She had trained in the Borderlands during the winter an act that was both useful and annoying so she wasn't shocked by this. However, she was looking thoughtful, and her forehead furrowed as she considered the amount of snow.

"I didn't think it could still snow this much so late into the season, we if this keeps up we might not be able to leave in two weeks time...."

Not that they were on a timetable.

Earendil couldn't tear his gaze from the snow.

"I don't know if we should go downstairs and see exactly how much there is," he murmured in a bit of a daze, "or if we should just crawl back into bed and try to stay warm."

Indeed, he was beginning to shiver again. There were no fireplaces in the bedrooms, and with how strong the wind was, it was quite cold - and he had never really warmed up from the night before.

Lin's wings were what was keeping her warm, even though they let a draft in since it was impossible for her wings to cover her completely (they simply did not bend that way).

She looked over to him and touched his arm, she could feel the soft vibrations from his shivering.

"Maybe we should go see if Haradhel is awake so you can get a hot bath," she said instead, "You're still cold and that isn't good."

While elves she knew tend to not get sick, she didn't want to tempt fate.

Meanwhile one floor down, Miyuki was awake, and while she would have been looking for her parents (again) she was very distracted at the moment. Namely she was distracted by the snow which covered the ground and then some.

She was already hurrying out of her room and down the steps to take a look out of one of the ground windows.

Earendil nodded and reached for his cloak, intending on using it to keep warm while they searched for Haradhel. But it was still wet, the coolness of the room preventing it from drying properly, and so he left it where it was hanging.

"Let's just go quickly," he murmured, turning towards the door instead.

Despite having stayed up quite late the night before, Arahad was already awake and looking out the window of the door. He glanced up when he heard Miyuki coming down the stairs and smiled warmly at her.

"Good morning," he said cheerfully. "Have you looked outside yet? We're snowed in!" He laughed and pointed at the window. Snow was piled up almost to the top of the door, and only a very small bit of the window was still uncovered.

Lin took Earendil's cloak on the way out so that she could set it somewhere, where it could be dry. In case he wanted even after his bath.

"Hopefully she'll be up," Lin murmured to Earendil as she followed him out the door.

"Where did it all come from?" Miyuki asked trying to look out the window, it was mainly white so it was very difficult for her to do so.

The hall was slightly warmer than the bedroom, but it was still quite cool, and it didn't help Earendil much.

"I'm sure she'll be up," he murmured softly. "She's usually the first one, and it's quite late, to be fair."

He headed towards the stairs so that they could head down to the kitchen, where he suspected Haradhel likely was.

Arahad chuckled at Miyuki. "The sky. Come look out the window in the playroom, you'll be able to see a lot better there, the window's bigger."

He held one hand out to her, offering to lead her.

"Haradhel?" Lin called softly once they were in the kitchen.

She would feel the warmth in the kitchen. While Lin wasn't cold like the way Earendil was cold, it felt good to feel warmth. It was one of the few things she took for granted back in Gaia.

Miyuki looked at Arahad's hand for a moment before taking it. For some reason she had to think about it, even though she knew Arahad. Perhaps it was because deep down she remembered she hadn't gone to find her parents yet, but wanting to see the snow seemed to be more important at the moment.

"Okay!"

It was much warmer in the kitchen than it had been in any other room, and Earendil felt his shivers slow immediately.

Haradhel was in the middle of preparing breakfast, her back to the door when Lin and Earendil entered, but when she heard Lin call her name she turned around and smiled.

"Good morning," she said warmly. "Glad to see you made it back last night. We were a bit worried, but Arahad promised to go looking for you if you weren't back by a certain time."

Arahad grinned and brought Miyuki to the playroom, and once they were in there he motioned for her to stand on top of one of the desks so that she could see over the top of the snow. It was quite dark in the room, the windows a solid gray wall except for where the snow hadn't yet reached, and through the space all that could be seen was white gusts of snow blowing past.

"We're going to be here a while," Arahad chuckled.

"It just took us longer than expected because of the wind," Lin explained.

Glancing over at Earendil, she could see that really all he needs is a bit of warmth.

"I hope it isn't too much trouble, but could we have a hot bath for Earendil, He took most of the wind yesterday and i don't think he's quite warmed up at all, and his cloak is still damp from yesterday."

Climbing on one of the desks (something normally unthinkable) she peeked over the snow drifts covering the window to see outside. Which wasn't much because it was all white snow blowing past.

"It's all white."

Haradhel's eyes grew slightly concerned. "Of course," she said without hesitation, brushing her hands on her pants. "You should have asked last night, then you could have been warm all through the night. Come, I'll go prepare a hot bath for you."

"Thanks," Earendil said gratefully. "I more than need it."

His eyes flickered once more towards the fire in the fireplace before he turned to follow Haradhel back upstairs.

Arahad laughed at Miyuki's assessment. "Indeed," he grinned, standing next to her and peering outside as well. "I'm sure it will blow itself out by tonight though. It's rare we get storms this late in the year, but they never last long."

Lin watched the two go as she set the cloak in a place where it could dry. Even though they would be stuck her for a while, she wanted to make sure it dried right and didn't collect any mold from remaining wet for too long.

She was sure that Earendil would be (hopefully) warm by the time he got back.

"How long will it last?" Miyuki wanted to know, how long was not long at all?

Arahad tilted his head slightly, his dark eyes thoughtful.

"Well ... usually if we do get a storm this late in the year," he murmured, "it's followed by warmer than usual weather ... so if the storm continues into tonight, the snow from it could be gone in a week. Of course, the ground would still be soggy, but it's better than being snowed in for months."

"Oh...." Miyuki looked thoughtful to outside.

So they would still get to leave when they planned, which was good, not that it mattered to Miyuki. Sure it was exciting and everything but she hadn't seen everything around here.

"How long are we going to be inside do you think?"
