Kedrick Suwa

Kedrick allowed a soft smile to touch his lips as she pulled back, he felt no embarrassment now. "You shouldn't worry about me." He said gently, resting his hand on her cheek, his fingers tangling in her hair, just as he had at the harvest dance which seemed so long ago now. "I'm going to stay right here..right here with you, forever." He said, and leaned in kissing her again, never wanting to have to let her go.

Dimitri mumbled dark incoherent phrases under his breath as the walked back up though the hospital's hallways, the steaming cup of coffee held at arms length. He walked passed Maria and down the next three feet of hallway to the door. He raised his free hand to knock on the door, but stopped before his fist touched it, seeing what was going on though the small square window. His mouth formed a small 'o' of surprise and he stepped back away from the door. He dropped lightly into the seat next to Maria, coffee still in hand though he had forgotten about it for the most part. He glanced over at her out of the corner of his eye. "They're busy in there." He commented unnecessarily

Arielle leaned her head a little into Kedrick's hand, just like she had done when Kyla had asked them to kiss, which now seemed like days to Arielle now. She kept smiling, feeling so much joy and love for Kedrick. "Looks like you read my mind, Kedrick," Arielle said with a sweet smile as she kissed him back, never wanting that moment to end. It was just herself and Kedrick, no one else but them in their own little world.

Maria noticed Dimitri return with some coffee in his hands. She was about to warn him about Kedrick and Arielle when he seemed to notice before he even knocked on the door. She giggled lightly and looked forward, waiting until Dimitri sat down before glancing back at him, nodding lightly. "That's why I didn't go back in. I knew that Kedrick needed some time alone with Arielle, especially after what happened. For me, since I'm her best friend, I know she'd want some time alone with him too, so might as well let them have their moment now before she hardly has anytime for herself."

Kedrick Suwa

Dimitri gave her a small smile. "I guess this was just a distraction for me to get out of the then huh?" He asked, gesturing down to the coffee. Dimitri wrinkled his nose in distaste. "It'll get cold....are you a coffee drinker?" He asked. Normally, with a normal girl, on a normal day, Dimitri would have been much more tactful that this. In fact, Dimitri could usually have a girl wrapped around his finger with a few well placed comments. But there was something a little bit odd about Maria that made his stomach feel funny, kind of like he had swallowed live butterflies. And with everything that had happened earlier in the day, some ingrained instinct told Dimitri that this was no time to flirt.

Kedrick pulled back gently, his hand still lingering on her cheek. "You should rest..." He said softly, reaching out and placing his fingers on her eyelids, closing them gently. He hummed softly to her, his hand sliding down into his lap. His lips parted and he began to sing, not feeling self conscious at all, this was for Arielle. "Dancing bears, painted wings. Things I almost remember, and a song someone sings once upon a December." He took a breath before continuing, feeling warm and happy for the first time in what seemed like forever. "Someone holds me safe and warm, horses prance through a silver storm. Figures dancing gracefully, across my memory..." Here Kedrick trailed off, smiling slightly

Arielle smiled at him, her lips still tingling from his kiss. She didn't want to sleep, but soon she realized that she was still exhausted. She giggled lightly as Kedrick closed her eyes, so that she could fall asleep. She listened to him sing and noticed that he was singing one of her favorite songs. She sang along with him in her mind, playing the music and hearing Liz Callaway's voice in her head. When Kedrick trailed off, Arielle continued humming the song, picking up where he had left off. "Someone holds me safe and warm, horses prance through a silver storm. Figures dancing gracefully, across my memory. Far away, long ago. Glowing dim as an ember. Things my heart, used to know, things it years to remember... And a song, someone sings... Once upon a Dece-em-ber..." She finished the song, holding out the note while also slipping into sleep. The held out note getting quieter as she let sleep overcome her. In just a few seconds, Arielle was out like a light again, with a peaceful smile on her face.

"Maybe," Maria said with a light giggle, "Or maybe Kedrick did want some coffee. It's still better to have it just in case he needs it, y'know?" She looked at the coffee when Dimitri had asked her if she was a coffee drinker. In all honesty, she kinda was and at the same time, she really wasn't. She didn't mind it at times, but she still preferred her hot chocolate though. She shook her head lightly, standing up and stretching, looking back down at him with a sweet smile. "I appreciate the offer though, but something's telling me it's safe to go back in."

With that said, she walked back to Arielle's door room and looked through the window, finding out that it was good to go in before opening it gently and entering the room, seeing her best friend to sleep. "She looks so peaceful," Maria said quietly, not wanting to wake her friend up.

Kedrick Suwa

Kedrick smiled and he looked at the sleeping Arielle. Maria and Dimitri roused no reaction fro him when they came in. It was only when Maria spoke that Kedrick snapped out of his daze, looking up quickly at the two of them and smiling. "Yeah..." Kedrick said softly, his eyes falling back onto Arielle's sleeping form.

Dimitri shifted slightly, still hovering in the doorway. He wasn't entirely sure why, but the atmosphere in the room made him feel odd. He wasn't entirely uncomfortable, but it felt strange. The love the fill the air was so sweet, pure, and innocent. 'Everything I'm not...or at least, not anymore.' He thought bitterly. If there had ever been an 'outside-looking-in' moment, this was one of them. Dimitri didn't feel like he belonged here, felt like he was polluting the scene just by being there. "Here Kedrick." He said, walking over and handing him the coffee, it hadn't lost as much heat as Dimitri had supposed it would. Kedrick smiled distractedly at him. "Thanks Dem." He murmured, wrapping his fingers around the steaming Styrofoam cup. Dimitri nodded, slipping back towards the door, turning to step out. "Hey Dimitri." Kedrick said softly, so as not to wake Arielle. The dark hair boy hovered in the doorway, looking back. "Yeah?" He asked. "I owe you a buck for this don't I?" Dimitri smile. "It's no big deal, it's on me." Kedrick frowned. "C'mere." He said simply and Dimitri slipped reluctantly from the doorway. He walked over to where his friend was seated on the edge of the bed. Kedrick reached up, taking Dimitri's shoulder and pulling him down to eye level. "Stay." He asked softly. "Kedrick I-" Kedrick gave him a pleading look. "No one minds. Please stay." Dimitri pinched his lips together. " 'kay..." He said softly straightening up.

Maria felt the same as Dimitri, like she didn't fit into all the lovey doveyness that was going on. But it didn't bother her much since she knew Arielle deserved all the happiness she needed. She had nothing to say as Dimitri had a small conference with Kedrick when went over to give him Kedrick's coffee.

She walked over to Arielle, moving some of her hair out of her face and smiling gently. "I should probably head on home," Maria said, looking at Dimitri and Kedrick, "I told my dad I'd be home in about two hours, but since Arielle's asleep and is in good hands, I'll take my leave." She headed out the door, remembering that there were blankets and pillows still outside. She went to go get them, bringing them back in for the boys since they needed something to keep them warm.

"Well, take care boys and I'll see you in a few hours," she waved to them as she said this as she headed out the room again and to the front of the hospital, then realizing she had no ride to get home and her father was sleeping like a log at home. "Looks like I'm walking," Maria said with a sigh as she started her walk home.

Kedrick Suwa

Kedrick glanced up at Maria as she stood up to go. "Maria!" He called softly, forestalling her at the door. "Thank you. For everything." He smiled at her, feeling a surge of almost brotherly affection of Arielle's friend, 'no,' He thought briefly. 'Maria is my friend as well now.' He raised a hand. "Good night, be safe on you way back home, and tell your dad thank you for me."

Dimitri scooped up the pillows and blankets that Maria had deposited in the room, layering them on the floor, creating a makeshift bed. "There." He said, surveying his work with a slight smirk. He looked up at his friend, seeing him still sitting by Arielle's side. "Hey. Earth to Kedrick, it's late and you need sleep as much as she does, you've had a rough day."

Kedrick looked over from Arielle, catching Dimitri's gaze and smiling tiredly. "yeah, yeah I guess it is kind of late..." He stood up, still hovering by the beside. Kedrick leaned down, kissing Arielle gently one last time before walking over to the padding of blankets and pillows on the floor. He sat down with a soft sigh, lying down on his side and pulling the blankets over his shoulder. The afternoon kept replaying through Kedrick's head, he kept thinking of what he could have done. Something, anything that would have saved Arielle some pain.

Dimitri flopped down on the other side, looking over at his friends back. He was still upset, Dimitri could tell. It wasn't like Kedrick to beat himself up about something, but what happened today would have knocked anyone out of wack. Dimitri scooted over suddenly, Hugging Kedrick tightly, his face pressed into his back. "It'll be okay." He said quietly.

Kedrick startled slightly at the unexpected contact. Dimitri wasn't a touchy-feely person generally, for him to offer a hug rather than begrudgingly receive one was almost unheard of. Kedrick smiled slightly, touching Dimitri's arm. "Yeah....thanks buddy."

Dimitri nodded once, letting go and rolling over so his back was too him. "Sleep tight..." He murmured.

When Maria looked back to before she left the hospital, she could only smile and felt a sense of pride still. She still made an impact on today, her plan still was a success, and to know that Jonesy would never bother Arielle again was an even more greater reward. She hurried along home and was glad that the distance wasn't too far, but she still didn't enjoy having to travel by herself in the middle of the night.

Finally reaching her home, Maria entered quietly, not wanting to wake up anyone or anything. Locking the door, she saw that her father had fallen asleep in the living room, waiting for his daughter to return. She walked over to him and gently kissed his forehead before slipping upstairs into her room. She didn't even take the time to change her clothes into her pajamas, because she plopped herself on her bed and instantly fell asleep.

The next time Arielle woke up, it was already mid afternoon. A nurse had come in to make sure she was alright, checking everything that needed to be checked before leaving to bring in Arielle's breakfast. Arielle looked around the room, trying to find Kedrick, almost afraid that he had left before finding him and Dimitri sleeping on the floor. She smiled gently and took her hair out of the ponytails that they were in the other day before pulling it back into a somewhat messy bun.

She pushed some of her hair back and paused when her fingers passed over the light cut made by Jonesy. She traced the line, which was from the bottom of her chin to almost halfway done her neck. She was grateful that it wasn't deep, but it still felt somewhat sore all the same.

Leaning back, she sighed to herself, feeling at peace completely for the first time. It's over... It's finally over... This is just too good to be true, Arielle thought with a faint smile as her nurse brought in her breakfast. Like the doctor recommended, it wasn't anything heavy that would give her a bad reaction and they would have to go through surgery again. She thanked her nurse and began eating her breakfast slowly.

Kedrick Suwa

Dimitri shifted slight, the bright morning light that spill warmly through the window casting odd pattens on the inside of his eyelids. He murmured softly to himself, flopping and arm over his eyes in an attempt to shut out the light. Everything was dark for a few more moments, but the Dimitri began ti feel restless. He wanted to know if Kedrick was awake, he was curious to see how Arielle was doing, and strangely enough, Maria kept popping into his mind as well. After a few minutes he sighed and sat up, finding that going back to sleep was useless. Dimitri looked over at Kedrick, the other boy was curled up on his side, the blankets and sheets tangled around his feet. He had his hands draw up to his face in a manner that reminded Dimitri of a sleeping kitten, his blond hair tousled across the pillow. 'Let him rest...' He thought with a brief smile. 'He must have had it rough theses past few days...' The dark hair boy smiled sleepily and stood up, the sheets rustling as they slipped from his lap to pile on the ground. He turned, looking over at Arielle, surprised to see her already awake and eating. "Good morning." He said in a slightly sing-song tone, a playful smile touching the corners of his lips. Dimitri walked over to stand by the edge of the bed. "Feeling better today?"

Arielle had been distractedly eating her breakfast. She had a feeling she could've made a tastier slop then what she was eating, but since she had no choice in her meal, she just had to put up with it. If only she had something to sweeten the taste, then she would be fine. At least the juice isn't half bad, Arielle thought before noticing that there was some movement on the floor. For a brief second, she thought that it was Kedrick waking up, but when she saw that it was Dimitri, it didn't bother her at all. Plus, she knew that Kedrick needed his rest after staying up all hours of the night until she woke up.

She smiled and giggled lightly at Dimitri, pushing some loose hair back behind her ear. "G'morning Dimitri. I'm feeling a bit better. Dazed somewhat and almost like I'm dreaming, but the pain in my shoulder is enough of a testimony that I'm not dreaming." She paused, taking a drink of her juice before looking back at Dimitri. She had a feeling that Maria had told Dimitri about her past and she was curious about what he thought. She was still ashamed of what had happened, but it was over with now and she could now move on with her life without thinking about the shadow called Jonesy looming over her and making her life miserable.

"Dimitri...," Arielle said almost quietly after a few seconds of silence, "I know Maria told you what happened to me, and... Well, I just wanted to know what you thought about everything. About me as a person..."

Kedrick Suwa

Dimitri startled slightly, a little bit surprised that she actually wanted to talk about it. Dimitri usually avoided what people though about him like the plague, so he was somewhat caught off guard. He drew in an uncertain breath, sitting down on the edge of her bed. "I...I was surprised really..." He started softly. "I wouldn't have thought that...I don't know...that you ever could have even remotely related to anything Kedrick told you about me..." Dimitri shifted uncomfortably, he didn't like to talk about himself, so he went back to her. "I understand though...why you did what you did, and....and I think it's admirable that you tried to back out as soon as you found out what was really going on...." He paused uncertainly, glancing over at her. "And I know that...that none of it was your fault, I'm going to do for you exactly what you did for me. I'm going to be here for you, and if you ever need anyone...other than Maria, or Kedrick...I'll be here...." He said, his voice firm, but he trail off softly, his gaze dropping from hers. He could only ever remember being that honest with Kedrick before.

Arielle waited patiently for Dimitri's response. She listened to him when he did speak, taking everything in and repeating it in her mind. She could understand why it would seem so surprising to him, especially since she never seemed like the person who would be in a situation like the one she was in. Then again, before she knew the truth about Dimitri, she would never had guessed about any events to his past having any relation to how he acted in the present.

There was a small faint smile when he continued. She knew that Kedrick or Maria would remind her that what happened was never her fault. Hearing it from Dimitri, somehow who had some understanding of what she had to deal with, had its own power different from her best friend or even her boyfriend. When he looked away from her, her faint smile grew a bit more and she placed her hand gently on his shoulder. "Thank you, Dimitri. I appreciate that so much."

Kedrick Suwa

Dimitri allowed her a thin smile, he reach up, touching her hand gently. "Yeah, It's no problem..." He said with a smirk. "I mean...." He faltered slightly, not really knowing what he meant. He picked up his train of thought. "You didn't ask for what happened to you to happen...Neither of us did, so...so it's alright, and I don't think any less of you for it." Dimitri stood up, suddenly running out of the ability to talk to her. Dimitri could only be open about himself and how he felt for so long before he suddenly felt like hiding from the world, and wishing they would forget he existed. Thankfully Kedrick saved his by stirring slightly on the other side of the room.

Kedrick rolled over, cracking his eyes open and smiling sleepily at Arielle and his best friend. "Morning..." He murmured groggily, propping himself up on one elbow. Slowly, he pulled himself into a sitting position, and looked up at Dimitri. "What for breakfast?" He asked teasingly, sleep still tugging at his mind.

Dimitri made a face at him. "Well, how about we just don't eat this morning." He teased back, leaning against a wall and folding his arms over his chest. "It would be so much easier that way."

"Or," Kedrick said, standing up "One of us could run out and get something to share." Dimitri sighed.

"And by one of use you mean me right?" He asked, Kedrick simply nodding and Dimitri sighed heavily. "Alright, alright, But be forewarned I may not want to share my spoils."

Kedrick smiled. "Okay, have fun with that, and thanks." He said as the dark hair young man stepped out of the room with a dismissive 'yeah, yeah.' Kedrick turned to Arielle, "And good morning to you." He said with a smile.

Arielle listened to Dimitri once again, a soft smile on her face. As he continued, she realized that he was beginning to be lost for words. Maybe I shouldn't have brought this up with him, Arielle thought to herself, trying not to frown lightly, He's probably more uncomfortable about it than myself. If only I could help him though... Gratefully, the uncomfortable mood ended when Kedrick was waking up.

She smiled faintly and listened to the two of them talk, finding no need to take part of their conversation. Sadly, Dimitri had been chosen for the task of picking up breakfast for himself and Kedrick. Arielle had a feeling that the reason why was because Kedrick was afraid to leave her side. Yesterday certainly did have a life changing impact on their relationship. When it was just the two of them in the room, her faint smile grew a little. "Morning, Kedrick. Did you sleep well?"

Considering the fact that it was now about three thirty in the afternoon, Maria was now on her way back to the hospital. She had been up since about noon, only getting about eight to nine hours of sleep. She would've gotten more, but an urge to see how her friend overcame her, as well as seeing Kedrick and Dimitri. Strangely, Dimitri had popped around in her dreams a few times when she was asleep and she found it quite strange.

She stayed at home for another hour, eating a late breakfast with her father before he went down to the station to interrogate Jonesy. He had let Maria know that once Arielle was feeling better, she would have to come to the station to answer some questions that could help the police arrest any other players in the horrible game that Arielle was in. Maria nodded understandingly, having a feeling that soon the news would start getting their noses in their business. And like either of us actually want to have our names in the news right now, Maria added in her thoughts.

About another thirty minutes and Maria was driving over to Arielle's grandparents house, hoping that they were alright. When she got in there, she was surprised to be caught up in one of Arielle's grandmother's hugs before the kind elderly woman thanked her for what she'd done for Arielle. Maria felt bashful, which was sometimes rare, and only told them it was nothing. After filling them in about Arielle's condition and that she was heading over to see her and the boys, Arielle's grandfather offered to pack up some food for the boys since they were probably hungry. Her grandparents had just finished eating and they were originally planning on bringing the kids food anyway. Maria took the remaining food, packing them in neat portions for Kedrick and Dimitri before thanking them and driving off to the hospital.

After finally getting out of traffic and finding a parking spot, Maria headed up to Arielle's room, glad they hadn't moved her yet. As she was getting close, she saw that Dimitri was leaving the room. She giggled to herself, having a feeling that Kedrick got rid of him to spend more time with Arielle. The more she walked closer to Dimitri, the more nervous she was beginning to feel. She took a deep breath and smiled warmly at Dimitri. "Morning Dimitri. Well afternoon actually," she paused and held up the bag, "You may want to turn around, I brought you boys food."

(Maria to the rescue with food~)

Kedrick Suwa

Dimitri blinked in surprise having already been hovering in the doorway. He turned slightly, looking over his shoulder, surprised to see Maria standing there holding some food. He pulled back slightly, once again caught off guard by the strange way his heart thumped against his rib when he looked at her. Dimitri was half tempted to hit himself in the chest and tell his heart to pipe down, but that would have been highly conspicuous.

Kedrick looked up, smiling at Maria. "Good morning!" He called with a cheerful smile. "I hope you're going to share some of that with us." He said, still unable to keep from smiling as he looked at the young woman he had become so fond of over the past few days.

Dimitri stepped back away from the door, letting Maria in. "Nice to see you again." He said mildly, a faint smirk touching his lips. He glanced sidelong at the food in her hands, his smirk widening. Dimitri reached over and, with out permission, plucked one of the carefully packed lunches from the tops of the pile. "Let's see what you brought!" He said, still grinning like a maniac.
