I am finding that I really enjoy books that have something in them that I can connect to my spirituality. I am becoming quite the witchy-minded girl. I like books that make me think, I don't like everything spelled out for me right away, I like to wonder and discover. A fantasy element is less essential than it used to be, but still my favorite genre.
Who is your all time favorite fictional Character? Please give a bit of explanation if its not something popular.

Well I could cop out and say either Octavia or Phaedra, but since they're my main characters in their respective stories I'm not going that route, heh. If I had a choose a character from a book, it would be either early or Anita Blake or Dante Valentine, at least up to the book of hers I'm currently on. They both fit the stubborn b***h role nicely, but I don't like the way the Anita Blake books have gone as of late (though I am actually enjoying the one I'm on right now, which is third to the latest). Dante Valentine on the other hand has a way of aggravating me, but I also like to think I know myself well enough to admit that the actions she takes that annoy me are also ones I would do the same way, if that makes any sense. I guess what it all boils down to is how much I can identify with a characters motivations, and both have survived a lot of tragedy in their respective storylines. Of course, this all changes if we go into the realm of anime. In anime my favorite character is either Utena Or Juri from Revolutionary girl Utena. They are my favorites because they have the tragic storyline thing going on, and they are both strong characters in their own right. I like Utena a lot for her want of being a prince (something I can wholeheartedly sympathize with as I wanted to be the knight in shining armor as a little girl) and Juri for being so strong in spite of her complications and daring to be strong in spite of those against her.
What common elements draw you to your favorite fictional characters?

I am drawn to characters that have a strong set of ethics, even if they don't know it. I will read anything about Arthurian Legend, I like finding out how the Characters are portrayed. Guinevere from The Mists of Avalon is a horrible horrible human being. Yet I have read a Guinevere who did everything she could do for the good of the land, including taking Lancelot as a lover and helping Mordred. There is a beautiful moment in the play Camelot where Arthur realizes what is going on between Lancelot and Guinevere. He talks to Excalibur about how he wants revenge, in the end he decides that he has to do what is right for the greater good and not what he wants at the moment. Its beautiful. The struggle with the self just hits home for me.
Will you hang in there with a character if there is a chance of redemption? Do you hope for it if you like a bad character?

As long as it isn't forced, yes. I don't like forced redemption, but I don't like a bad character staying that way if there is a chance for it and it seems contrived if he doesn't take it.

A book I read years ago. It was called Tiff and the Trout. The bibliography made it seem to be about a girl who loves going fishing instead it was about a girl who can't seem to keep a stable relationship and all she does is whine. I hated it.
Ever had a moment when you seem to be obsessed with doing something (like lighting candles just for the sake of it)?

Yes, but not in that particular way. I was diagnosed with OCD, along with other things, and my obsession is with numbers and order. Like, I had to count my footsteps in groups of four, and I had to check my bookshelf and movie collection to make sure nothing was out of order quite regularly.
Ever given in to compulsive urges?

Yes. I love buying books and even if I have no money I will bug whoever I'm with to lend me some money to buy a book with (though today, dad ever so nicely offered to buy it for me, even though I had money).
Do you have any step- relatives?

My Monster. My boyfriend bought a little grey, handmade monster when we where in Austin last year and he decided to call him Monster. Earlier this year when I was having major net troubles whilst moving into accomoddation at Uni, my boyfriend gave me Monster to keep me company. Other people may think he's weird but he's just the cutest thing I've ever seen! (He's kinda dome-shaped and has only two eyes and a tail and nothing else).
What was the last show/movie you watched on TV?

Next movie will likely be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II, next tv show will either be Time Team or a documentary about Pharmacies in the Victorian era.

I have a million things at once going. It's not exactly the best way for me to get things done...but it somehow works out for me...most of the time...
