The carpet grew into a replica of the dropship, save for the fact that it was powered by magic.
"We can all fit in here...and I've never crashed these, they're quite stable and can manage landing on their own."
She paused to add safety belts onto the seats.

"Unless, of course, you would rather have another run-in with a golem?"

I'll stick with natural flight.

It would make for a faster descent if he was alone. Besides, the shape was one he enjoyed taking.

The Paladin did not argue at the mention of another golem, and plopped down into the drop ship."Uh I think we should camouflage, Darkling's don't really know much about technology."

"So I guess we do a survey around the city?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 01, 2009 6:11 pm

"Okay."

The ink blurred into the sky behind them, the patterns shifting on the outside while the interior remained solid to the touch. If a darkling happened to glance up, they would only see a small bird.

"Here we go...up, up!"

The conjured aircraft glided up smoothly, following the falcon's motion and upwards still to take in the landscape below.

The falcon-Saxon caught a thermal and soared higher, blue-green eyes keen and calculating as he surveyed the ground.

Despite the circumstances, he felt a tinge of joy at the flight. Open skies and freedom; a luxury that few truly appreciated.

The group after about three hours of survey found the excavation site over 10 miles away from the behind the city.

It looked like an area that no one ever bothered to look at, and yet it was very noticeable.

The excavation looked like a round circle where a whole new legion of Soulless probably from another few towns. They worked and carved around the area.

A few less advanced standard golems began dragging large poles around
the area, making large runes around the circle.

They seemed almost finished with something.

"Is that it, then? It looks like they might be making another portal of sorts," Scribbler mused, letting the craft circle in the air smoothly.

Do you sense anything, sir? she sent to Hrothbert.

"You okay back there, Farskon?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 01, 2009 6:28 pm

You don't need to call me sir. There was a note of warmth in his mental voice, reassuring her.

It's hard to say. There's magic down there in large amounts, but the proximity makes it difficult to pick out different types or purposes.

He dipped down closer, calling up his Sight and searching for a dot of royal violet.

"Yeah I think I almost got over my fear of falling being up here so long," He replied assuringly, and still refused to use the word "heights" .

He looked around, and mumbled."Looks like their building a portal or somethin', but to where?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 01, 2009 6:40 pm

What should I address you as, then? she replied, scanning the ground as well. Art training was coming in handy right about now.
Maybe she's underground.

"It looks different than the ones from the old encampment, or the service portals. Kinda bigger, don't you think?"

Unconsciously, the vessel drifted down smoothly, still holding its outer disguise of common bird.

Whatever you like, as long as it's not some ridiculous nickname.

He dipped lower yet again, still searching for a familiar aura, increasing his Sight so that he would find her even if she dwelt underground.

((Out of curiosity, where is she?))

[[The special place the portal will lead to when it's turned on.]]

Farskon got off the dropship as fast as he can, and did not pay heed at being
hidden. This unfortunately got the attention of a few Soulless workers.

They gurgled, and ran at Farskon. The paladin could only say."Oops." As he slipped out his swords.

((Let me know when I ought to insert my interesting bit of prose. Not this time, I imagine, seeing as you've already rolled.))

((Editing.))

That will do.

The falcon dipped even lower, talons turning to a broadsword as he reclaimed human form, landing amongst the Soulless and cleaving the lot of them in two.

Does Hrothbert work?
A flaring of wings brought Scribbler to a stop as she tumbled out of the craft as well, immediately appropriating it for other purposes with the wave of her brush.
For example, it had turned from aircraft to bludgeon, the thick ink smacking a few Soulless out of the way. Small tendrils worked at prying the red necklaces off, if there were any.

Still others advanced.

The Soulless continued to pour forth, and something cold snaked through the air.

There was no unearthly wind, no light of sorcery. His hands did not move, and no words were spoken.

The Soulless within a 10-foot radius simply...died.

Quickly and efficiently.

He left only one alive, which was frozen in place as it fought to move and failed.
